Really enjoying these bite sized little paranormal romance novellas by this new to me author. This is the second one I read in the series and they were both unique with fantastic detail. The only thing I noticed is that neither of the males talked in these two stories so far. I am pretty sure I will read all of the books in this series. Checking out this author is easy since this shortie was only about 40 pages long. So fun discovering new writing talent.
'Alone. Just like they warned me not to be. Alone with the kind of silence that dares you to do something stupid.'
Cassia just wanted to be alone after her divorce from an ex who wanted to control her. People warned her not to go out there alone- that strange things happen. If she wouldn't let her ex-husband tell her what to do or not do, she certainly wouldn't listen to strangers.
I'm not much for swimming, and I'd probably drown if I panicked, but getting touched by something you can't see underwater is the stuff of nightmares for me.
'Something brushes my calf again. Something slick and cold and solid, like an arm. Like fingers. Like something alive. The water explodes around me. I’m yanked downward so fast I don’t even have time to scream. Before I know it, I’m ten feet under. Pressure builds in my ears, my lungs already straining. I thrash, kick, and claw at the water, but I can’t get away.'
I'd seriously doubt "horny" is what most people would feel in this sudden fight-or-flight situation, but I certainly hooked to the story to see what would happen. 3 stars.
Want a story where the FMC just went through a divorce and is out to spend some alone time to find herself? Well it only lasts a night and then bam she gets pulled under in the ocean and fondled. Spicy short story. I mean the MMC, if you could call him that, never says a word, just let's his body do the talking.

So this was very much an impulse read. I wanted something quick before I head off to work, and this was a fantastic short, spicy read.
It does carry the warning that it is a dark read, and if you have a fear of the sea and/or drowning, you might want to avoid this one. But if that doesn't bother you, this is a wet and wild tale in more ways than one.

Another by this author, a short, quick read and in this book, we meet Cassia. A creature, being lives in the water and it enjoys having Cassia. A fascinating story and was left wanting more. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
