Texas Justice
Book 1: Texas Kidnapping Target Book 2: Texas Ranger Defender
This is a clean Christian suspense romance audiobook that will keep readers on the edge of their seats from the first chapter to the last. Texas Ranger Tucker Powell was at his family’s ranch with his grandfather when he hears shots fired. Upon searching the property he comes across a woman with blood stains on her clothes and no memory of who she is and what’s happened. Is she a victim or a killer ? Little by little the woman, Leanne, starts recovering her memory. It appears she’s the victim and that those that are suppose to protect are determined to eliminate her. Why? It’s Tucker and his partner’s goal to keep her safe until the bad guys are caught. But seems that that’s not that is happening as feelings develop in the midst of the danger. The story was fast paced, engaging with likable characters. The narrator Emily Sutton-Smith brings the story to life. I was entrusted a copy of this audiobook by Netgalley and Harlequin Audio. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Leanne is running from someone shooting at her, when she comes upon Tucker at his grandfather's ranch. Unfortunately, she doesn't remember her name, why she is in danger or why she has blood all over her clothes! As a Texas Ranger Tucker has seen a lot of things, but a woman covered in blood claiming to have know idea who she is or what happened is a first! But, first they find a body near the ranch and then that disappears. Then someone keeps shooting at them. It's obvious something is going on, but can they stay alive long enough to figure it out? Read this to find out.
The pace is breakneck and the tone is intense with an action oriented storyline that has a few kisses but no steam. The characters are vivid and engaging. The Christian ideals are mostly shown through prayers. This is book 2 of the series with 2 more expected for the 2 other Texas Ranger friends. I can't wait!
A woman without her memory is chased by gunfire to the door of Tucker Powell’s grandfather’s ranch home. Tucker is a Texas Ranger, and he believes the woman’s story of needing help enough that he agrees to help her. This is quite a wild ride with a disappearing dead man, a false murder charge, and a bullet ridden hotel room. Both the romantic and suspense aspects of the story are just right. I enjoyed listening to this book and look forward to finding out what happens in the stories of Tucker’s fellow Rangers and friends. I like the narrator.
Tucker Powell is a Texas Ranger and hears gunshots on his ranch. When a woman with bloodstains on her clothes shows up, he lets her in the house. The strange woman can't remember her name or anything about herself. Someone is shotting at her and when a dead body is found on the ranch it appears something is going on. As Tucker works to help the woman and discover who she is there is someone now trying to kill both of them now. As Tucker and his ranger friends work the case, they find that a lot is going on and law enforcement is also involved. Great narrator.
Texas Ranger Defender by Laura Scott is book #2 in the Texas Justice series and was a nonstop action hit - 5 stars all the way!
Texas ranger Tucker Powell after hearing gun shots on his ranch, finds a woman on his doorstep covered in blood, and the blood is not her own. The woman is frantic and scared with a large bump on her head, she claims no memory.
Tucker and the mystery woman "Blondie" retrace her steps and find a dead body and more gun shots. Now both running, Tucker starts to question, is Blondie the murder or is someone trying to silence what she knows.
Little by little, her memory starts to trickle back - can her memory fully come back before it's too late?
The author has clearly never been to Texas and maybe not even the south US in general. They never say “you all” it’s y’all. The location is completely unreasonable- San Antonio may be supposedly 1 1/2 hrs away but with traffic you’re not going to just be hopping back and forth from one city to the next. And to top it off, a proposal after knowing someone for three weeks? Come on….
Leanne was trying to find the deputies who were carrying women across the border to be sold and used for sex. In an effort to intercept the sheriff's department crew she was almost stabbed, then after hiding her phone in the mountains she fell and lost her memory. A good suspense mystery from Laura Scott
This is a good read. It features a protective alpha male even if he is a bit skeptical. It has a female in danger who had amnesia. The characters are believable. The setting moves between the rugged Hill Country of Texas and the city of Austin. It is a quick flowing story that grabs your attention and hold it all the way through.
A fast paced suspense that will have you hooked from the first page! I love that this story features Texas Rangers. The narrator did a fantastic job with this story!
I received an audio ARC through Netgalley and all opinions are my own.
Part of an interconnected series. Some of the characters may overlap. She's running from danger but can't remember anything He saves her on his family's land. Dead bodies and bullets are accumulating Rangers running from cops?
I enjoyed this book & would highly recommend it. However, just an FYI from a native Texan for the first 56 years of my life... Texans don't say "You'all". We say "Y'all" (pronounced "yawl"). I didnt hear "you'all" until we moved to East Tennessee. Just sayin' 😉
Texas Ranger Defender by Laura Scott, narrated by Emily Sutton-Smith. A wonderful Christian romantic suspense. Quick read. This is book 2 of her Texas justice books. I’m loving this series so far. Thank you to #NetGalley and #Harlequin Audio for this Arc. This is my honest review. Releases Sept 30 2025.
Great suspense. It's a Texas Shoot-em-up! A lot of cop drama and a little kissing 💋 but not nearly the Romance I was expecting. Not a bad read at all, I was looking for a touch more spice!
I enjoyed that it was a short and easy to read mystery in a Texas setting, but the writing and plot felt repetitive and not as suspenseful as I like a mystery to be.
This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the second book in the Texas Justice series. I have not read the first book in this series before picking up this book. I read this book by listening to the audiobook for this book, and I enjoyed the audiobook. This is a fast paced book with a ton of action and suspense. I had a problem with the Texas Rangers not following the rules/law because I felt there was a better way to handle all the stuff that happened in this book. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.
