How To Date A Nerd

Rate this book
(A Leon Walden Story--Sequel to Life as Told by Nerdy)

One word. One broken promise. One fateful night. That was all it took to lose her. And I knew we’d never be the same. I wanted to touch her face, hold her hand, to see her smiles again—even if I knew they weren’t for me to keep. Now I’m back to square one. I’d make her mine again. But first, I’ve got to learn how to date a nerd.

It was an enjoyable read and took me back to my Wattpad days. I read "As told by Nerdy" on Wattpad years ago and bought this book. I actually wanted the other one but I couldn’t find it anywhere. I didn’t get myself to read this until today.

Ok, for an actual review. Sarah and Leon have (therefore) a special place in my heart but this sequel was just irritating to read at some point! I don’t know if I loved "ATBN" because that story was better or just because these books are more enjoyable for 12 year olds. It just wasn’t it for me anymore. The way everyone reacted was too unrealistic! I mean yes it is fiction but still. Everyone just made it difficult for everyone. The second half (specially) made me go like « what the- » the whole time. Read the next paragraph to know more of what I think but fine, overall it was easy to read, I really like it when Nate appears so I think 3 stars is not that bad.

Now I’m going to SPOIL some stuff so only continue reading if you have already read the book (or just doesn’t care).
SPOILER ALERT!!!
Tsubame made me cry when I thought Sarah died. It was the plot twist we didn’t want but I think would make the book more realistic (hmm). I mean or you write that and end it at that, or you just don’t! I mean, Freddy actually went with that scheme? Tell Leon she died? They didn’t even feel bad about that, they thought it was a good thing making him think that way. That’s so messed up. And Becky and Matt? No character development? Or a little explanation about Elle and Nate? The dramatic "make them go back together plan"… well I guess it would look ok on tv… ok let’s end this review. Thanks for reading!

This book surely had me on a whirlwind of emotions.

It was one thing to have an accident, it was another thing altogether to have amnesia. And it just sucked. I meant not the whole story but HER story. Way to build a life on bits and pieces of the past, but not on the two years that really mattered most. It was difficult for everyone around her.

But they tried to keep moving forward, building on what can be made new memories, on a partnership as contractual best friends. That was a good start, but nearly not enough for two people who should really be together. The other wants more than what the other can be. And that is freaking saying something, because a whole 2 years of nothing can actually take away something in a person. So I'm not at all surprised at the reluctance Sarah gave to the 'relationship' they have.

...

I just have to say this. "Tsubame", you had me crying at How To Say Goodbye, Permanently. Damn, I knew deep inside nobody would die, I still had a few chapters to go. BUT, when your writing turned the way it did, doubts, horrible conclusions and imaginations flew out of proportion. (This is a good mark on you). You wrung out emotions out of your readers. ;)

And lastly but sadly, you kept your readers hanging in the end. Ugh. I want more. A few chapters, maybe. Not just a cliffhanger of some sort.

I cried some, wanted to hit sarah once or twice. Yelled at the author a few times. This one was a roller coaster ride.
