Glowchild and Other Poems Selected

In this moving anthology gifted young Blacks portray life with humor, courage, and the persistent optimism possessed only by the young. Here are the problems of the "in-betweens" of any race, no longer children, not yet adults, preoccupied with the question of where and how to find their place in life. Here, too, are the harsh realities of being Black. Discrimination, poverty, violence are dealt with in alarming scope and detail. These young people have seen it all - nothing can really shock them anymore. Yet, again and again, they cry out: this isn't all there is to life; something else matters and I'm going to have it!

The first time I picked this book up I was hooked. I love this little book and it's the reason why I love poems.
