The Conclusion of Gwen and JC's Story

Gwen Anders came to The Sky Launch to begin fresh, away from the horrors of her past. She fit in quickly, becoming good friends with her co-manager, Alayna Withers and the owner of the club, Hudson Pierce. Though the circumstances that brought her here were not the best, she's never felt more at home.

But starting a new life means letting go. And there are some things she doesn't want to leave behind - like JC, the man who taught her how to let loose. The man she wasn't supposed to fall in love with. The man she doesn't want to lose.

Now, with the reason she ran still a threat, Gwen fears she'll never be able to move on completely. And if she does, can she still hold out hope that JC loves her enough to come and find her?

Warning: This review is not meant to offend the author nor her fans. I am sorry if anything seems too harsh. I know that most of you will hate this review, but first hear me out. I don't hate the author, but I got really, really frustrated with this book. I was given a copy for an honest review and here is my honesty. Spoilers ahead even though the blurb spoils the ending.

Free Me ended with a huge cliffhanger and I was very impatient about the release of the next book. I wanted to read when JC was going to get back and win Gwen over. I wanted to see what happened to his marriage and I wanted to see how Norma's relationship was progressing.I was very happy when my ARC arrived at my kindle. That happiness died rather fast though once I began reading this book and more specifically when I read the first one or two pages of chapter two. The happiness was going and I was raging mad. I even thought at a point that I should stop the book and never read a work by this author again (and I have at least 4 more books on hers in my to read list) . As you can see I was this mad.

I would have I expected this kind plotline for a first book, not a second (and final, I might add) book in a duet. The main couple has been already established in the first book and it's Gwen with JC and not Gwen with Chandler. For me, this book was just a way to introduce Chandler and his background story, rather than ending Gwen's. Her relationship with JC was constantly tainted by the Chandler's shadow. He is Gwen's boy toy, a safe choice for Gwen that will make her doubt her relationship with JC and then to top everything else a possible father to Gwen's baby. Just when I thought his storyline would end, he kept popping up.

You see I have three hard limits when it comes to reading a book and this book crossed the line with two of them. I am not sure if I should count the third. Number one, I hate love triangles. After one too many young adult books with unnecessary love triangles I started hating them. So when I read about the Gwen thinking of not being with JC and starting something more with Chandler by giving him a second chance I was pissed.
Number two, I hate it when one of the main characters is sleeping with someone other than the hero/heroine. That's chapter two for you people and during the whole book, reminders of it keep popping up. Even Gwen admits that she hates herself for sleeping with him while she was in love with JC. I hate her even more.
Number three is cheating, which technically doesn't happen in this book since when Gwen has fun with her boy toy she and JC aren't together, but she since at the time she was fooling around she was in love with JC I kind of consider it cheating.

For me the book was too focused on Chandler and a ton of unnecessary drama that lost what made the first book appealing. Things like Gwen's father and JC's marriage were briefly mentioned and quickly handled. Gwen could have been 6 weeks pregnant instead of 14, but that would mean less drama and less Chandler. I truly hate this guy and I won't be reading his book. My wish for some JC point of view was granted and that was the only pleasant thing that happened in this book. I felt like the romance was pushed aside from the drama for no reason to get in the spotlight.

This book for me fell less in every aspect. It was lacking too many things, including a plot. Gwen's story could have easily have ended in the first book and this one could have been a prequel novella for Chadler's story. Honestly, I believe that's the reason it was created. Also, this book ruined my great mood after reading Something Beautiful and made me lose my book glow.

Now I hope you can see why I didn't like the book. I know most of you won't have a problem, but I had and I wanted to warn those who might also have a problem with it.

The first book “Free me" had an awkward ending, but the second book "Find me” has also an awkward beginning .

Gwen is alone. JC has disappeared after he told her a weird story about some people that they want to kill him and that he is the witness of a murder that happened years ago.
If you ask me, it sounded like a made up story of a crazy guy who had his fun and he just wanted to disappear without causing a scene. But anyway....

So Gwen is alone and heartbroken and what does she do? She starts a fling with Hudson's little brother, Chandler. Which is fine by me. I mean JC just disappeared telling promises that sounded completely fake.

But after a year JC is back and apparently he was telling the truth. What is the point of having Chandler around for the majority of the book? Dead weight. I could not even feel any angst.

Anyway, besides Chandler who bored me to tears, Gwen and JC’s second part of the story was pretty good. Finally we learn who is really JC and finally Gwen opens up completely and she seeks her happiness.

The Found Duet is not one of my favourite series by the author (which by the way I adore), but it is a decent story with good and not so good parts. Still it is so much better that most of the stories about obsessive billionaires that I have read.

Find Me is the conclusion to JC and Gwen’s story. If you have read Free Me then you know there is really no way you cannot read this book. That cliffhanger was brutal and literally left me gasping for more. So I was ready to jump into this conclusion!

The story picks up with Gwen and we see how she is coping without JC. It’s tough to see because everyone around Gwen seems to be moving on, but Gwen is still holding out hope for JC. There was a moment when I almost wanted Gwen to move on, but as soon as I did, he was back.

JC came back at the perfect time and reading his story and understanding his reasons broke my heart. It also allowed me to forgive him for just about everything else. JC and Gwen together is perfection and I loved these moments. I loved this story, but at some point it just got to be too much. I am not a huge angst person and there were moments it just seemed over the top. Now I know I am alone in my anti-angst world, so if angst is your thing I think you will love this story even more.

Laurelin does a fantastic job of building and developing JC and Gwen’s relationships and the characters around them. Now I cannot wait to see how things develop for the other characters!

Find me is the second part of the Found Duet series. You have to read Free me first because it's about the same characters.

“My heart is open, Gwen. Whatever else has happened, whatever other things are standing between us, my heart is open.”
“I don’t want to lose you again.”
“You never did.”

Excuse me while I have a huge grin on my face. I had high expectations for Find me. I wasn't entirely convinced by JC and who he was. But bring me a good romance ; words to fall for and actions that speak for themselves and I'm a goner.

description

The story begins a year after the action in Free me.
Gwen has a new job at Sky Launch, she still has her sister and brother near her and she has found a new friend in Laynie (or Aylana if you prefer)
Her life could be complete if it wasn't for the hole left by JC's departure.

Gwen tries to deal as best as she can. She is more rational but the walls she has created before to protect herself are still there because of the uncertainty she feels regarding JC.
He promised to come and find her but what if it's not the case ?
How long do you wait for someone when you can't be sure there's a future ?

description

Gwen's attitude wasn't perfect all the time while she waits but JC has mentioned she had to live her life and that's what she did. She felt some guilt over it but once again what could gave her the absolute certainty that JC was the one for her ?

« The answer was, I’d be lost. I was lost. Because of him, I was open and looser and closer to happy than I’d been for most of my life. But the heart of me—the part that believed in love and ever after and sweet kisses and romance—that part of me was lost. »

I've found it to be a perfect start for the story. I could see Gwen has grown up during her time alone.
She still love JC with all her heart but she is not stupid either and all her questions are valid.

I was expecting JC's return and when it happened I wasn't disappointed.
Their first scene together was edgy, even uncomfortable for both of them. The tension was palpable. The sexual needs was there but they didn't act on it and it was pure perfection !

“I’m not going to say that I’m not dying to have you under me, Gwen. Because I am. But I’m dying to just be with you more.”
description

JC step up his game all along and the things he said won me over.
Their relationship may not have started out of normalcy but it's their own

“There’s so much that I wish I had with you, Gwen. You wanted to do things differently this time? So do I. This time I don’t want you to go a day without knowing where I stand. I love you.”

I didn't give it 5 star because I had two small issues.

That being said, Find me is probably one of my fav' book from Laurelin Paige.
The regular appearance of Hudson and Laynie were a huge plus. It made me want a small new novella for them.

Another REMARKABLE read from the ever so talented Laurelin Paige! This story OWNED me from beginning to end! An absolute beautiful love story about two flawed characters that were so selfless when it came to one another. This was about a love so deep and so unconditional, nothing could keep it at bay. I loved when they were together. I hated when they were apart. I shed quite a few tears along the way, but this was a journey I would take over and over again.

FIND ME is the conclusion of Gwen and JC's story and what a whirlwind of a story it is. Gwen is alone, devastated, and heartbroken. She keeps reliving those beautiful and sexy moments when JC was by her side, pulling her out of the darkness that she created around her heart. But alas, she must move on and let go. New job, fresh start, good friends, a place she can call home, but still her feelings linger. She must let go of the past, of JC. This turns out to be incredibly difficult. She can mark up the calendar with dates all she wants, it will not release this tugging she feels in her heart. Her heart is not the only thing at stake here. The reason for running away in the first place is still out there. And she never needed JC more than this moment right here.

You know that damn cliffhanger that we were left with in FREE ME? It was SO WORTH IT! Believe me. I know you can't see it now, but WOW, this conclusion was pretty damn epic and worth any book hangovers that might occur, oh and there will be TONS of them. I was held captive. I was completely mesmerized. The emotions that Laurelin Paige brings out of me with the written word continues to blow me away. Her characters hold me hostage, her storylines keep me intrigued, and I always feel completely spent after reading one of her stories. It started with the FIXED series, which created a HUGE fan in me, and she is still going strong with her beautiful storytelling, leaving me fascinated with ever turn of the page.

Stunning! Epic! Compelling! Riveting! Simply Perfection!

Laurelin Paige has done it again!! I mean, was there ever really any doubt?! There is a reason she is my favorite author. Every single time, she pulls out every emotion with her beautiful, brilliant mind.

Find Me is the conclusion of Gwen and JC's story. This book is filled with heartache, self discovery, healing, surprises, growing, love and some of the hottest sexy times I've ever read.

I really don't want to say too much about the story, because I hate spoilers. I've tried to figure out a way around them butI don't want to rob you of the feelings I experienced when reading. So, I will say that Find Me is one of Laurelin’s best works yet. Be prepared to go on an EMO roller coaster. You will be a blubbering mess. I know I was. But she'll put you back together in the best way possible. You will also find lots of humor. And HUDSON. Yes, there's HUDSON. There were quite a few twists and turns. Only Laurelin has the ability to shock me, leaving my mouth hanging open! JC is still as dominating as ever and funny and charming. He is oh so fuckalicious. He comes back more determined than ever and when JC wants something, there is no stopping him. During his time gone, our Gwen has grown. She's also more determined. She's stronger. She finally learns to communicate more and to let people in. These two are both put through the ringer yet again. However, they are unstoppable!! JC had me wanting to smack him (again), but also had me wanting to crawl through my kindle and devour him! Will they come out stronger than ever?? Will they be able to work through all the bullshit and obstacles standing in their way? Will Gwen be able to forgive JC once again? One more thing, that epilogue...good god woman!!! The most beautiful epi ever written. Perfection!!!

Laurelin continues to deliver masterpiece after masterpiece with her captivating writing. Find Me is another 5-star read for me!! Laurelin, whatever you do in life, please, do not ever stop sharing your amazing stories with the world.

If you haven't 1-clicked this series yet, you're truly missing out. Do it now!!

3.5⭐️

Overall it was ok. There were some things that bothered me though:
- only one POV (heroine) except for the epilogue which was finally (after 2 whole books) told from JC's POV

- the dad was painted as this mean, scary dude and that played out a bit in the first book. I expected that story to continue in book 2, but it really fizzled out in this book and the final encounter was very anti-climactic

- JC can hire a private detective to keep tabs on everything during his almost year absence, but he can't get a note to Gwen in order to tell her to be patient and wait? Come on.

- I didn't like that Gwen had a similar sexual relationship with someone (like she did with JC in book 1) during the Gwen/JC separation phase. Granted, she said she thought she and JC were over, but it just brought unnecessary drama to the story and JC's casual acceptance of the whole thing didn't sit well with me.

- the "who's your daddy" twist was a little eye rolling to me. You knew exactly how it would turn out, so once again, unnecessary drama. If that element would have been left out and the dad storyline was beefed up this would have been better for me. IMO.

Holy sexy roller coaster, batman! Laughter, tears, heart stopping sexiness… Find Me has it all. After that dang cliffy in Free Me, I wasn’t sure where this next book was going to take us… or how I would feel about JC after how he left things. What I got was a seductive, twisty ride and I found myself loving JC far more than I did previously. If you’ve found that sequels don’t often live up to the hype of the first book, rest assured that Laurelin Paige didn’t just match the intensity and spark of Free Me - she exceeded it!

JC was very dominant and sexy in Free Me … we definitely got to see some other parts of his personality in Find Me. He’s funny, and he made me swoon with his sweetness. He’s still dominant and fucks like a god but when you wrap him up as a whole, he’s pretty perfect - even though he pulled some douchey moves and I wanted to kick his ass several times. You can’t help but love the guy, even when his decisions are maddening and frustrating and they make you want to shove your foot up his ass. Somehow, someway, you forgive him. Maybe it’s his flirty charm or the fact that he readily owns up to his big, huge, douchey mistakes. I can’t not forgive him, and neither can Gwen.

What does a girl do when her lover disappears? She pines. And Gwen’s pining was perfectly constructed to show how desperate and lonely she was during JC’s absence. Gwen is stronger in Find Me - she’s grown emotionally with having to endure being alone, and having to work through her father's appearance. She’s not perfect though… she’s a lonely woman and she’s done things that could possibly turn her life upside down. Just like JC, we see more sides of Gwen - the girl is freaking feisty and hilarious. She doesn’t want to be told no and she’s learned not to say no to things that scare her. Telling JC no is a huge regret for her and she doesn’t plan on making that same mistake again.

These two have been through a lot - and their rocky road isn’t over yet. When these two reunite it’s just the start of a whole new set of obstacles to overcome. I’m not often caught by surprise and can usually see twists coming but Laurelin Paige has a way of setting things up to whammy you. I love that. I love the shock that I felt. I loved that I couldn’t get enough of their story. I love that JC kept me on my toes - whether he was whispering sweet nothings to Gwen or telling her to get on all fours so he could …. - yeah, I’m not going to spoil that for you. And Gwen made me laugh and I wanted to rally behind her at every turn. I love these two together. And let me just say… the epilogue is fantastic - it left me feeling happy and warm and mushy. Free Me and Find Me are 5 star reads… But Find Me is definitely the standout star in this series.

Hotly anticipated, Laurelin’s duet to Free Me more than lives up to the hype. When this appeared on my kindle I sort of majorly freaked out with excitement. And it was entirely well deserved.

At the end of Free Me, I was practically crumpled into the floor on a ball rocking slowly back and forth wondering HOW how how Laurelin could leave me in such a state for months. Needless to say, I was more than ready to dive into Find Me.

If I thought that the passion was intense before, I was mistaken. We pick back up with Gwen a year after JC goes into witness protection declaring that he will find her after the Trial of the Century is over and he’s safe once more. Gwen’s struggling to move on – and in truth, she hasn’t. She’s treading water, fucking Hudson’s brother to pass the time (yup. not a typo. also not a spoiler, you learn that in like the first two seconds, so calm down) and waiting for JC to return to her life.

And then he does.

And it’s awkward and angsty and uncomfortable and the tension buzzed through the pages so hard that my fingers were shaking.

Paige makes us work for it, but it’s absolutely worth it. There are a lot of surprises in this book, some of which made me want to throw my kindle and others that had me slapping a hand over my mouth to cover my gasp. JC’s just as smooth, in control, obstinate and utterly adorable as he was in Free Me, and his words will both set you on fire and have you swooning.

Gwen has grown by leaps and bounds from where she was, but she still struggles not to go numb when things start to go awry. Even as JC and Gwen finally solidify their love, they continue to hit roadblock after roadblock on their path to happiness. I was so nervous as the pages turned and things were getting more complicated, but then I’d be reminded: The love they have for one another is epic & timeless. This book is sweet, romantic, suspenseful and angst-ridden.

IT HAS EVERYTHING. No question, it’s going on my favorites list.

Find Me takes you to the edge and keeps you there, holding your pleasure – delaying your gratification – so when you finally get to the end, it’s so much better than you ever could have imagined. Grab a hold of your lady balls and get prepared to crash and soar on this crazy ride.

Gah! I love it I love it I love it!

Find Me is a smoldering, suspenseful, sweet, and oh-so-sexy romance that swallows your heart and soul. Laurelin Paige writes perfect prose and delivers everything you want in a story and more: hot and protective alpha; sweet yet strong heroine; words that are captivating, creative, and compelling that stir up your emotions like a tornado; and a plot of perfection with twists and turns that could easily be rendered a romantic-suspense movie.

Find Me, the conclusion to the fabulous Free Me, is a story about hope, heartbreak, healing, and happiness for two former lovers reunited following a year-long absence. You'll want to devour the deliciously descriptive and decadent Find Me quickly as it's pure addiction with witty and wonderful writing that grabs your emotions---happiness, angst, sadness, and anger---and spins them around like a merry-go-round.

Where Free Me is more sex and sin, Find Me goes deeper and is more searing of the soul and suspenseful sprinkled with sizzle. Like the title, Find Me is about finding yourself. Finding trust. Finding love. Finding that much-coveted happily ever after. Find me elicits a whirlwind of feels that make your riveting reading experience almost seem real.

Gwen is lost and lonely when JC leaves her in Free Me---for both of their safety. Picking up the pieces of their love life left behind was difficult and devastating, but much-needed to begin to heal---if that's even possible when the man who left her still holds on to her heart.

"It had been almost a year since he'd left me...I had faith he could find me. But would he look?"

JC has never let Gwen go in both his head and deep inside his heart, despite leaving her and the start of a beautiful romance behind. He walked away from his happily ever after. Now he will return and reclaim what's his: Gwen. Her body. Her heart. Her soul. JC wants the world, and Gwen is his world.

When Gwen and JC meet after one long and longing year, sparks ignite, unresolved feelings surface, and hope floats in the air, full of possibilities.

"I couldn't stop looking at the man in front of me, my gaze fastened toward him like the arrow on a compass pointing north. His eyes stayed pinned on me as well, both of us trapped in a field of magnetic energy that sparked and spit and spanned every inch of space between my body and his...He offered me his hand. I took it, then, there it was---the shock of his touch as his fingers weaved with mine. I let out an involuntary sigh, and with it bricks of tension fell from my body. Release. It shuddered through me as electricity sparked up my limb from where we were connected and spread throughout my body, and I wondered if this was what it felt like to melt. What it felt like to be frozen for so long and then, finally, to have the sun brush against cold ice."

Gwen and JC's sex and sizzle is off-the-charts hot. Holy swoon! JC brings his A-game to dirty talking and pleasing his princess with his possessiveness in and out of the sheets.

"You're mine, Gwen. No matter what you've done or who you've been with, you belong to me...I'm the one who will be here in the morning and every morning after that. It's my cock that fits perfectly inside your pussy. It's me who knows what you need and how to make you come, and I'm going to be the one who makes you come now and for the rest of your life."

JC gives Gwen hope, love, and a chance at finding much-needed happiness as she gives him. She is his reason for existence. He's her knight in shining armor that helps erase her pain and replace it with pleasure, and will risk all---heart, soul, and life---to protect her. As JC melts through Gwen's icy shell that she encased herself in when he left to protect her heart and try to carry on with her life, obstacles or fireballs that could burn them in the way of life and death situations cross their path that may shatter them for good.

"It wasn't fair. None of this. We were just beginning our life, and now there was a big wrench thrown in the middle of it."

Find Me grabbed my heart, shook it up a bit, and finally placed it back after taking it and me on a whirlwind romance and sometimes adrenaline rush of a ride of feels. Like the rest of Laurelin Paige's books, you'll want to take your time reading and savor her story like a fine wine, devouring each word as it were your last breath. Find Me will find you aching for more.

Find Me gave me everything I wanted and then topped it off with more!

“It was nearly impossible for me to think about giving up JC, even when he’d only become a memory.”

Find Me is the second book in the spinoff duet from the bestselling Fixed Series by the amazing Laurelin Paige.

When we first see Gwen again in Find Me an entire year has passed since she’s last seen or heard from JC. Even though she is trying to move on from the man that lit her up from the inside out and freed her in ways she never thought possible, she is struggling. She is haunted by his touch, dreams of him and the moments they shared, no matter how brief the time was. She’s missing him more than she thinks she should. She’s still hiding from her deadbeat addict of a father and if it weren’t for her best friends (sister and brother), Norma and Ben, she would be much worse off than she actually is.

“I was lost. Because of him, I was open and looser and closer to happy than I’d been for most of my life. But the heart of me-the part that believed in love and ever after and sweet kisses and romance-that part of me was lost.”

Find Me takes a completely different path than I could have ever imagined, yet in a totally wonderful way. Laurelin Paige not only allows us to spend some time with the characters that we’ve come to know and love, Alayna and Hudson, but also continuing our journey with Gwen and JC in their quest of finding each other again. It’s a journey that is not all smooth sailing. They encounter rough seas many a time and, more than once, I was worried that their end may not be what I needed it to be.

“There was always something, wasn’t there? Always distance. Always a secret. Always a barrier.”

Paige’s writing is once again spectacular. The romance, the passion, the lust, and the intense emotional connection are all there, but there is also danger, uncertainty, and secrets that are threatening to wreak even more havoc. Just when we think that they may be on the right path yet another twist makes sure that this couple is challenged and struggles all over again. Gwen and JC’s story is one that will resonate with all romance readers, and it’ll leave you feeling happy, sated, and looking forward to more, should their story continue on. Now knowing that Chandler will be given his own story I look forward to revisiting these characters yet again, I don’t know that I will ever grow tired of spending time in the Fixed universe that Paige has created.

Well done, Laurelin Paige I didn’t know when I began these books that I would come to love Gwen and JC just as much as Hudson and Alayna, but you made it happen. Kudos once again for another beautiful book, and I cannot wait for your next.

Find Me, what an incredible book by the fabulous Laurelin Paige! I have been waiting anxiously to read the conclusion to Gwen and JC’s story since I finished Free Me! I was NOT disappointed. The story? Hot. Shocking. Sexy. Heart stopping. Beautiful. Mysterious. Captivating. Gut wrenching. Funny. I couldn’t put it down! Start to finish within one day! It was that good!

JC, where do I even begin with this man? He’s just EVERYTHING! He’s so sweet, yet sexy and playful. He’s simply....beautifully addictive. I couldn’t get enough of him in this book! I absolutely adore Gwen! What a strong woman. She’s been through so much. Life’s hurdles just kept coming but she persevered. Together, they make a kick ass couple.

I was so happy that Alayna and Hudson made several appearances throughout Gwen and JC’s journey. I can never get enough of this couple. Love them! The banter between them was perfect! Chandler! I can’t decide if I like book one or two better! I could lump them together into one 5 star book in my head, I guess. Haha! Find Me is a perfect conclusion to The Found Duet. Although, I was incredibly sad to see their story end. Laurelin Paige has knocked it out of the park, as usual! It’s difficult to review this without revealing spoilers so I’ll do my best to make sense.
It broke my heart when J.C. left in Free Me. To see how both he and Gwen unlocked themselves for each other was beautiful. As a couple, they were fun, sexy, and loveable. When Find Me begins, it’s been a year since J.C. left, and Gwen is practically walking through life in a haze, surviving but not living. I was a little disappointed, considering the epilogue of book 1, that she did begin to move on. While I hated to see her move on (sort of), I certainly couldn’t blame her. Who knew what the future would bring, and in the end, if life hadn’t gone through just the right set of circumstances, it would have been the smartest move anyway.
When J.C. returns, they definitely have to wade through the mud and muck to find the cool, clean, water. I loved the way Laurelin built their relationship and moved it forward. When Gwen finally decides to lower her walls, she finds the freedom that J.C. was intent on giving her in book one. And, she throws herself into finding happiness. It’s such a contradiction from who she was in book one that I was absolutely delighted to see this side of her.
J.C.’s determination to get Gwen back is sexy as hell. Not that he needed anything else to make him swoon-worthy. Just as he was at the end of book 1, J.C. is all in, and that means he’ll do anything to make Gwen his, permanently. However, there are secrets that he’s keeping and I wanted to swat him on the back of the head sometimes. He should let Gwen make her own decisions, not decide what’s best for her. She is a grown woman and deserves to make her own choices.
Lauralin threw in some crazy surprises in this book! I couldn’t predict what would happen next. The story is well crafted, with a plot that kept me glued to the pages as much as the relationship between Gwen and J.C. I felt like I was right there with Gwen, in complete shock and freaking out. But, each one pulled me even deeper into the story and I was fighting not to skip ahead and make sure that it really did have an HEA…. J.C. almost had me throwing my kindle across the room. He made me so mad!!!!!! I still love him though…
I wanted more and more and more of these two. I wanted them to get their HEA, but at the same time, I wanted to beg Laurelin to give me more of J.C. and Gwen.
The epilogue to this book…I just loved it…*sigh.* Warm fuzzies all around! The biggest thing with the epilogue for me, was how it showcased the changes in Gwen. She clearly kept making progress from the end of the last chapter until the time period of the epilogue. She seemed almost another person, except that we’d seen glimpses of this person hidden inside her and the truly spectacular part of the epilogue was seeing how she’d embraced that part of herself.
Find Me was beautifully written and wrapped up the story in such a way that I put the book down feeling completely satisfied. I’m excited about the books related to this series that will be published in the future. Laurelin still remains a 1-click for me and her books are on the permanent re-read list. In fact…I may have gone back and read them both as soon as I finished Find Me…

It’s here! The highly anticipated conclusion of JC and Gwen's story in Find Me!! As always Laurelin Paige does NOT disappoint.

I keep it no secret; I have a serious soft spot for JC. Don't get me wrong, I love Hudson always will but JC and his mysterious ways just swooped in grabbed me and flew me away.

At the end of Free Me we were left with one doozy of a cliffy. JC's secrets finally came out and a misunderstanding in Vegas sent Gwen the other way. Now in Find Me we start off with a very lost Gwen. A Gwen that won't let herself get attached, sex yes, feelings nope. The one person she finds herself with the most is the one you would lease expect. We met him in Hudson and Alayna's story and how can he not start to develop feelings for Gwen? She’s smart, sweet and oh so sexy but the problem is, Gwen is still hung up on one very important man, JC and she will be damned if she lets her heart be hurt again.

One unexpected news watching day shows Gwen exactly where JC has been and why. Of course she goes to him, she can’t help herself not too. But what she learns is not what she expected. Heck it wasn't what I expected, which left her and myself running from that courtroom. But, JC is no fool. He can feel Gwen's presence. Even though it’s not safe he returns back to her. When he does, will his past follow? Will Gwen let him back into her life?

That's all you’re getting from me. I loved this story. I love these characters. The mystery, suspense, drama and all out hot steamy scenes are exactly what I was looking for in this epic conclusion. At times I wanted to seriously drop kick JC, smack Gwen and tell her to wake up. I threw my kindle, more than once. But it was worth it. The ride was amazing and it led to a perfect ending! As we see all the characters returning throughout this series, I hope to see more of JC and Gwen, because let’s be honest. I'll never have enough of him!! 5 Stars for another Laurelin Paige Hit!!!! ~ Shera

4 all the feels AND all the steam stars

This book is part 2 of a duet; therefore, you MUST read part 1 (Free Me) before reading this book. This duet is a spin-off of the Fixed series, and while it can be read on its own, I would recommend reading at least the Fixed Trilogy before these books because there are recurring characters and situations that won't make as much sense out of context and without any background.

Please note, if you have NOT read Free Me (part 1 of this duet), the rest of this review WILL contain SPOILERS!

It has taken me awhile to digest this one! Soooo much going on. When we left Gwen, she had just learned JC's secret (he is a key witness to a trial where the other 2 witnesses were murdered). JC has spent the last several years searching for is fiancee's murderer, which is why he declined to take the witness protection he was offered and instead, hired his own private security team to keep him safe. As the man charged with the murder is an influential person in New York City, JC has been spending part of his week there trying to get a lead on the killer's whereabouts which is why he has been hosting exclusive and risque gatherings at his former fiancee's father's club: The Eighty-Eighth Floor. When he met Gwen there, he found he was unable to resist her and convinced her to have strictly physical relationship with him once per week. But neither of them were able to limit their feelings to purely the physical, and they fell in love. JC confessed his feelings after the murderer was arrested because he felt he was closer to living a normal life then, but the next morning, when he learned that the man somehow made bail, he did his best to try to convince Gwen to literally run away with him and marry him so that they could both go into witness protection and stay together (though he could not tell her why at the time). When Gwen rejected him, he had to leave anyway, and when she followed him and found him somehow married (though he wasn't - he had gone on a bender), she was beyond crushed. That was when JC told her the truth, and she had to make a choice to go with him or not. She chose not to because she was so overwhelmed, and while things felt uncertain, JC vowed that he would find her again when he could.

Fast forward to a year later, and Gwen is at a new job (she left the old one because her father found her and threatened her) working with Laynie Pierce who has become a personal friend as well. She has not heard from JC and doesn't know where he is, and she has not told anyone his secret. At Laynie's wedding, she met Chandler Pierce with whom she started a "no strings" relationship, but now that he is getting attached, she has to end it. While at a weekly dinner party with the Pierces, she catches a glimpse of a man testifying in a trial -- Justin Caleb --- JC! The very next day, Gwen goes to the courtroom to watch him testify, and he sees her there and pursues her once again. Though she is over the moon to see JC, she wants to take things more slowly and see if they truly do have a connection outside of the bedroom, but when things get dicey once again with JC's past, can Gwen give everything up for JC this time around?

What I liked:
--- I liked that things kicked off pretty quickly with the main characters vs spending much of the book on the seeking/finding aspect
--- They were SUPER cute (especially JC!) as a couple
--- The danger/suspense aspect added to the story
--- ERMAGERD the steamy goodness!!

What I didn't like as much:
--- The whole thing with Chandler... why? I really didn't care for any of it, but especially since Gwen was in love with JC and Chandler was literally a kid (he was 19!), it just didn't make sense and it made me like Gwen a little less

Overall, this was such an emotional roller coaster that gave me all the feels and included some serious steam!! I devoured it in a day! I'm glad that there is another installment/follow-up novella to this series because I would enjoy seeing these two together for awhile.

Plot --- 4/5
Main Characters --- 4/5
Supporting Cast --- 4/5
Steam Level* --- 5/5
Violence --- none
Language --- liberal use of the f word
POV --- 1st (Gwen's)

*Note that steam level is not a rating so much as a how hot was it: 0/5 - clean; 1/5 - mild; 2/5 - sensual but nothing descriptive; 3/5 - now we're getting somewhere; 4/5 - yes please! ; 5/5 - they did EVERYTHING in this one, y'all

VICTORIOUS!!! What a merry-go-round; the tempestuous, explosive, poignant story continues! The hypnotizing & ardent love affair with Gwen & JC becomes a triangle of heart, mind, body & souls. The whirlwind romance has you spinning with dizziness. Paige antagonizes readers, leaving you shrieking & anguished (wanting to throw your book) with numerous overwhelming spins.
This intoxicating story consumes your senses, enchanting and mesmerizing!

'You will lavish the book, linger into the story, luxuriate in passion. The story fills your space, melts you. Freeing.'

Stop if you have not read Free Me, book one of the The Found Duet. I don't want to ruin the series for you.

If you want to feel fulfilled this is the story for you! Find Me is the conclusion of JC' and Gwen's love story. It's an emotional roller coaster ride filled with resentment, angst, worry, anger and fulfillment.

We return to Gwen attempting to be more content. Although her heart belongs to JC, she follows through by having a "No string attached. No Romance. No commitment." non-relationship with Hudson's college freshman brother Chandler. Just as Chandler starts to become attached, Gwen ends it. Soon after, JC returns as a witness in the trial of Ralphio Mennezzo, the man who murdered JC's fiance.

"Almost twelve months since he'd told me that he was the key witness in a murder. That he had to go into protection until the trial. I had no way of knowing when the trial would end, and when it did, he was the one who had to find me."

There are a lot of emotional twists and turns. Gwen doubts JC's true feelings. She really struggles with low self esteem. She can't accept JC's love without doubt. Her father plays be big role in her struggles. I enjoyed the way Gwen handled her father and her self discovery.

"I've learned that recently, in spite of how I was raised. Biology is not what defines a relationship. It's love and sacrifice. That's what truly makes a family."

There's a lot of self discover that occurs in this story and all for the good. There are definitely parts that will make you worry, maybe give you a little heart burn but it's worth it in the end. When a story drives your emotions, you know that you are in for a good ride!

OMG one moment life is so perfect, so in sync with a man that in just a short time you know you cannot live without..One day he is there and the next he is gone..Your left feeling so empty, so lost..You find someone to erase that feeling for even a minute, you take it..But Gwen had no idea that things were about to change..JC was about to come back with a vengeance to steal her Love back..Would you be skeptical about everything, would you be scared to Love again..What happens when the biggest bomb is about to blow that Love apart without taking your feelings into consideration..I know one thing is for sure JC and Gwen have an undeniable connection..The Sex Is So Hot
Must read Free Me first...

FAVORITE LINE CONFESSION:

"God, I wanted those hands out and open and on me. Yearned for them to brush across my skin, to peel me from my clothes, to ease the throbbing in my head and heart and between my legs. They were weapons, I decided. If they touched me like I wanted them to, they’d burn. And if he left after that— their absence would destroy me."

"he just held me and kissed me. Kissed me until time stilled and I was aware of only us. Kissed me until my lips felt swollen and bruised . Kissed me until I was reeling and dizzy and out of breath."

"The smell of him still clung to my clothes, and the feel of his kiss was imprinted everywhere his lips had traveled. His words from earlier played in my ears on a loop. “I’m still in love with you.”

Gwen was freed and then found when J.C. came into her life, but external circumstances left Gwen heartbroken and left readers with one doozy of a cliffhanger.

Find Me begins with Gwen trying to move on and find herself again, which is difficult because J.C. made her feel alive and now that he's gone, work is the only thing that she has. But J.C. said that he would find her when everything was over and that's exactly what he does, but there's a lot to work through and a lot for J.C. to prove to Gwen now that he's back in her life. J.C. definitely made her more open and a bit looser in living her life, breaking her out of her emotional shell, but he also broke her in ways that even her father hadn’t managed to do, so it’s too soon to tell if Gwen has the capacity to allow J.C. back in after all she went through after he left.

I absolutely loved the ending to Gwen and J.C.'s story. Laurelin Paige is a fantastic writer who shows the complexities involved in giving someone your heart and all of the emotions, both good and bad, that come with a relationship. I've adored Gwen's character since I met her in Hudson and Alayna’s series, and it's because Paige does a great job of illustrating Gwen's transformation both before and after her time with J.C. She’s a difficult woman to figure out because she doesn’t allow many people in due to her scarring past, but once she does, she gives all that she is to the people she loves. J.C. found a way into Gwen’s heart, but, although it wasn’t completely his fault, didn’t treat it as delicately as he should have causing Gwen to rebuild her defensive shell. Gwen is definitely a reactive person and all that she has gone through takes her on a journey of self reflection and growth.

J.C. may have been secretive and made some bad decisions when it came to Gwen, but readers learn the reasons behind every action and can't help but empathize with him and adore him even more because what he did and does has always been with Gwen's safety in mind. J.C. definitely uses sex as a way to control Gwen and keep her wanting him as they work through their issues since his departure, but the way Laurelin Paige crafts the scenes proves what J.C. can’t say with words - I love you…I need you…forgive me.

J.C. freed Gwen from her demons and now that she needs to find herself again, he’s all in, but for it all to work out like they both desperately want it to, Gwen has to be willing to be found and J.C. has to allow himself to live again.

I have to say that I didn't know what to expect from JC in this book... If you haven't read the first book, don't read this review any further... Go read it now! Then come back! ;-) If you haven't already read Free Me & Find Me I highly encourage you to read them. They make a fantastic duet!

When we left off our heroine was left alone with more questions than answers. Her whirlwind relationship with the reclusive and mysterious JC was left hanging in the balance, even though he said not to wait.... But how could Gwen not wait! He left her wanting, wishing and heartbroken... Nobody could fill the void she felt when he left and her biggest fear is that nobody ever will!

I can't say much about the story line cause honestly I think it would spoil the story and the outcome. Just know a few things.

JC will break your heart, put it back together and then break it again all before the end of this one... He's a sultry and sexy as ever and even with all his secrets you will fall head over heels for him!

You will feel for Gewn beginning to end... Her struggles are so real and her heartbreak will have you crying and just wanting to hold her tight.

You will love love love Hudson all over again, cause he is the ever dominant and every prominent man of the hour, always large and in charge!

You will get to know Hudson's litter brother a bit more, I can't tell you why, but damn, he's so much like him!!!!

You will grow a fondness for Gwen's sister and brother even more than the first book.

You will loath her father more then possibly imaginable...

You will be on the edge of your seat riding out the terror these characters go through each step of this journey. In the end the laughter, tears, anxiety and heartache will all be worth it! Laurelin never, every disappoints to make you feel every step of her books and this one is no different. I loved JC & Gwen's story beginning to end! I only hope that we will see more of the characters that have unfolded from this series, like Gwen's sister and brother, in the future... 4.5 Starlet Stars for this one!!!

I could not put this book down! I fell in love with JC and Gwyn in book 1 and when that ended I thought oh no how is she going to end this. When book 2 started with Gwyn still moping over JC and not knowing what was going on. Then you enter Chandler who she was in a sex only relationship as far as she was concerned. Her family and friends finally convinced her to give up and move on. Even though her heart said NO she knew she could not go on like this anymore because she didn't know if he would really come back. Then she heard him on TV and saw him and it was game over. She went to see him but "not" see him and she didn't think he saw her but he did and he came back. She finds that he has been watching her from afar since he left. She is happy and angry. They go through A LOT of stuff when he does come back and she admits that she still loves him and never stopped. They decide to get married and then trouble comes back. JC does what he thinks he has to in order to keep her safe and if we thought we saw Gwyn mad before look out because you haven't seen anything yet! I loved the glimpse of Laynie and Hudson. I just wish that Laynie would have gotten her wish and her and Gwyn could have shared the experience together. Read this you will not be disappointed!!!

It's a DNF For Me

2.5 Stars

I was hoping this would be better than the 1st book in the duet.
It isn't.
In fact it's worse.

DNF at chapter 14 page 127, 52% in.

I couldn't take the juvenile thoughts and actions. Those were also repetitive. If this has been 1 book and not dragged out in 2 I probably would have liked it better. But honestly, nothing much happens in either book except the sex. Anytime there is an area that could be expanded on to make things more interesting it's dropped.

I want to thank Jamie for helping me get through this book and giving me the closure I needed.

Anyway, this one was VERY disappointing and VERY boring.

Holy freaking god !! I have well and truly been on a rollercoaster ride of emotions over the past 48 hours.. Laurelin, you have so delivered and more with this follow up. If I could give it more stars I would because it soooooo deserves it. Find Me has everything you want in a novel. It's sexy, funny, witty, sad & raw oh did I happen to mention it is sexy as hell and I want JC in my life.. !!
Find Me picks up where Free Me left us all hanging in despair and the minute you start reading you know that this is going to be emotional, and that you are going to be left hung out to dry after a spin in a washing machine cycle. I don't know how many times I had my hand up to my mouth due the unexpected turns and twists but I also don't know how many times I burst out laughing , I have to thank Laurelin for bringing the best word ever into my vocabulary.... "TWUNT" ! Flove it and my aim is to use it everyday. Now what can I say about Gwen and JC...simple, what you get to experience is the need and love of 2 people who can't survive without one another. I loved how feisty Gwen is in this 2nd novel but still you can feel the apprehension and confusion of how she's wishes she can walk away but there is an invisible force field that draws her back especially once JC starts using his wit, charm and god dam dominant sexy mouth & you know that this is going to get HOT. You get to understand that this is more than love this is about soul mates, unbreakable bonds no matter what life throws at you. Laurelin you have surpassed yourself and I can't thank you enough for this amazing series.

I downloaded Find Me the minute I finished reading Free Me because I couldn't wait even one second to find out what was going to happen next.

We finally learn the full story behind JC's fiancee's death and the extent of the danger he's in. JC really wants to protect Gwen, but he can't stay away from her even though he risks exposing her. Though they are initially a little wary of one another, their relationship pretty much picks up where they left off.

There is the added complication of Chandler who has unfortunately grown attached to Gwen and he hovers around making a nuisance of himself. Gwen feels rotten that she ever indulged him, and she's also carrying a massive chip on her shoulder over Cory. She very much feels like she's playing second fiddle, even though JC never treats her like that. It's pretty much all in her head. JC is still quite controlling, but he's a real sweetheart too.

This book ticked all the boxes - great plot development, complex characters, superb writing, and lashings of the steamy stuff.

I enjoyed reading about Alayna and Hudson and I'm definitely going to check out their book. I'm totally hooked on this series now, and can't wait to read more from this author.

All in all, an epic read.

This review will be posted to my blog in due course. http://myyanabookobsession.com

Find Me was one of THE BEST sequels I've ever had the pleasure of reading! Laurelin Paige did that!! The same momentum that made the first book unputdownable followed into this second book because I was riveted. Gwen and JC had every single second of my attention. I was completely immersed in their world and I didn’t want to leave. I love all Laurelin Paige’s books, I mean man this woman can write a book and make it damn near impossible to choose a favorite but something about Gwen and JC just forever imprinted on my heart. They stand in a league of their own. The emotion she evoked from you out of this book was just overwhelming! I mean there were times I wanted to jump up and throw my Kindle across the room! And JC, wow, I mean there are no words for that mouthwatering man. If you thought he caught your heart in the first book be prepared to have it stolen and never returned in this one!! Gwen simply awed me in her transformation she made from Free Me to Find Me. Seeing both her and JC open themselves up to the power of love left my heart aflutter and completely overflown. Standing ovation to you Miss Laurelin Paige for this BEAUTIFULLY AMAZING ending story to JC and Gwen's story!

This is the continuation of Free Me that ended in a cliffhanger that had you go ugh......so I was waiting for this book with great anticipation.
You'll learn how Gwen copes wit JC's disappearance and her struggles to move on without him. She finds herself in a relationship trying to forget about him but with the hope still lingering that one day he will return.
When he does come back to town things don't seem so easy to go back to what they were before. With unexpected twists and turns, a lot of drama and suspense you are captivated by the story from finish to end.
It's great to have all the characters from the first book make appearances and once again Laurelin does not disappoint.
JC sure is giving Hudson a run for his money. Hawt, hawt, hawt and a read not to miss.

Received a copy for an honest review.

5 titillating and scorching stars!
Find Me is the heart-pounding conclusion to JC and Gwen's story that started in Free Me. This is a spinoff from the Fixed trilogy, which if you haven't read it, you need to get on that, but it is not required to read before starting this duet.
Laurelin Paige makes you feel along with the characters in the book, every pang of agony, every moment of passion. I wasn't able to put this book down, as my kids can attest to! I was gripping my kindle so hard hoping that Gwen is able to pick up the pieces of her life, and my heart was twisting tighter than a vice at parts. This is the kind of book that leaves a permanent impression on you, a definite must-read. While Ms. Paige has been on my must-read list for awhile, give this scintillating duet a try, and she will be at the top of yours too.
