BBW Sports Romance After being dumped by her live-in boyfriend, who she had supported through college, Hayley is tricked into trying out for the local roller derby team--the Selby Slammers.
At the try outs hilarity ensues when she leaves her mark on some of the hunky men in the inline hockey team practicing on the next rink over.
At least this time I didn't end up hungover with a tattoo on my butt--I mean--Hayley is a good girl, sweet, hard working girl that would never hurt a fly, let along her best friend, who often gets her drunk and permanently inked. Adam is such a stupid poopy-head!
Ahem, frog in my throat. I think I'm getting a migraine, so I better leave before I barf all over your expensive-looking shoes…bye!
Rock star, catwalk model, ventriloquist--April Ryder is none of these things. She is, however, a BBW housewife looking to spice up her life with her hardworking and supportive BBM (is that even a thing?) husband. April enjoys living on the beach and plans to further explore her sexy, sensual side writing romance.
This story is short, fast paced and an easy read. This book is the first book of April Ryder’s that I have read. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline entertaining. That being said, this book felt like it started in the middle despite this book only being part one. After going through a break up with her fiancé, Hayley’s best friend drags her on a night out to a roller derby. She soon finds out her best friend has signed her up for Roller derby tryouts. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and a nice start to the story. I look forward to reading part two of Hayley’s story.
I am still wondering if this book was going or coming. Her fiancee left her. Possibly for another woman (which really isn't clear or proven because: 1) The girl was waiting downstairs 2) He didn't expect his fiancee to be at home when he left so he had no reason to have this girl at a distance) The fact that he could say he was legally entitled to half of HER savings would insinuate that they ha been living together long enough that a common law marriage would be accepted as an argument by any court, yet, all of his belongings were able to fit into two bags. Either he had been moving out way longer than that and she never noticed or he never really lived with her really. None of the above are the reasons why I disliked the ex-fiancee. I didn't like him because he was evidently a scam artist. He convinced her to leave school and support him and when he got a job after law school he would reciprocate so they could save to be married. Then he leaves right after his final exams when he has effectively finished with law school. I am thus inclined to believe that he never had any intention upon marrying her and she was just a convenient cash cow to milk.
After that the whole story goes to hell in my estimation. The character gets dumped and then is lusting after another guy on the SAME DAY. The actual parts about the roller derby aren't expounded upon effectively And the guy trying to steal her underwear out of nowhere?!
This book was too short.and ended too abruptly to achieve anything but to cause me to scratch my head and wonder 'what the heck did I just read?'
Harley was being driven home by her best friend, Adam. She had one of her all encompassing migraines. Her fiance was moving out, with a skinny blonde waiting by the car. Adam came in and decided they were going out. She decided migraine meds and sleep, then out and friend time. He takes her to the roller rink, she's never been before. They get snacks and drinks. They guy watch. There are a lot of families and people yelling. Adam has to explain that it was Roller Derby. He also explained the rules. She decided she liked it. Then she found out why Paul liked it, when the ref. waved at him. After Roller Derby, came the Men. More men watching for them both. Who needs that Paul fellow. Adam, being the best friend in the world, stayed the night, because he knew the crying would start. Her fiance of three years is gone with a girl that looks like a toothpick. Yes there was crying. Then there was, we saw some fine looking men tonight. Then move over its my turn in the bathroom, how much did we drink? I volunteered to review this ARC book using my own opinion.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I felt immediately for Hayley. I also get migraines and totally could sympathize with what she was going through with.
I liked the bestie dynamics that Hayley and Adam had. Adam totally thought he was doing the best thing for Hailey when he signed her up for the try-outs. Best friend logic always wins out.
This was a great read and I can't wait to read part 2.
This is the first book in this series and the first book by this author that I have read. I really enjoyed it. If you are looking for a book with humour, then look no further. The heroine is a bigger girl by the name of Hayley, and the story is told from her point of view. The way she tells the story is like she is talking directly to you, and she has you laughing with her internal monologue. Great read and heading straight into book two.
I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review by author April Ryder. This is part 1 of the series by the author.
When her fiance dumps her for another, Hayley's bestie Adam gets her a tryout for the womens roller derby team. Little did she know things would get so heated.
This is a light sexy novella for a mature reader. The characters and situations were great.
A very short steamy read about girl named Hayley that after boyfriend dumps her she tries to get a tattoo but is told no by Adam who then can't get her of his mind. She tries out for the roller derby. I love the cover! The characters are very easy to love, I hope the second book comes out soon!!
Too short. I can't read books that are this short because I generally lose interest if I have to go hunting for the sequel every two chapters. Too bad because it was an interesting story.
My Aunt loved the roller Derby , she watched it every Saturday. This was great as I kept thinking about her as I read the book. Loved her shower fantasy.
