I received a reviewer’s copy of this book from Reading Addiction Virtual Book Tours in exchange for an honest review as part of the blog tour for this work.
Let me say this first, Killian is a scary guy. Even before his real story was revealed in the book, I always thought there was something frighteningly scary about him. That being said, I am going to rate this book three red hearts because the author was successful in creating a character who was dark enough to scare even me.
I liked this book in the way that the pace was just right. You get to know Lessi very well, the way she falls for Killian, the way she tries to stand up for herself, the way she gets confused with Killian’s mood swings. As the reader, you want her to run as far away from him as possible, but you also want a miracle and wish for her and Killian to have their happy ending, as scary as he can be sometimes.
Killian, on the other hand, well, he’s somthing else, alright. All throughout the book, I couldn’t exactly say how I felt about him. I wanted him to be the hero. He had great moments. He had charm. He had depth and emotion. However, there were also moments when you want him to lose her because Lessi deserved someone way better.
I think the author did a great job in creating two characters who will stick with you even after you finish the book. There were some things that put me off, but all in all, it was a good read. It shows in Goodreads that this is a first book in a series. I hope there is a second book because I really want to know what happens to Lessi and Killian after the final scene in the book.
