“Emails? You’re on a deserted tropical beach with a guy who is seriously attracted to you-and you’re thinking about email? That cuts deep.”, oh my did I laugh my butt off when I read this. She had a gorgeous guy in front of her and she was thinking about emails, seriously.

Ivy Molyneux is the Chief Operations Officer of Molyneax Mining but that was not her ultimate goal. When she turns thirty-two years old she would become the Chief Executive Officer and that could be in jeopardy now that she was pregnant. She was not a reckless woman but the night of her sister’s wedding she did something unexpected and it came with consequences. Now everything could be in jeopardy not because of the pregnancy but because of her “reckless” behavior. Ivy believes that all she needs to do is have Angus sign a business contract, stating that they would marry for twelve months, they would live in the same house but in different rooms and when it was time to divorce and go there separate ways. I couldn’t believe what she was asking him to do.

Angus Barlow was a military man and that was all he wanted to do. He didn’t intend to attend a wedding but due to his injury he went ahead and attended. His eyes could not leave the bridemaid’s sight and they were at the beach together. That was when it happened the one night stand that now came back to haunt him. He had Ivy in front of him telling him he was going to be a father. He had not wanted to marry or have children because he didn’t want to take the chance that he would not be back when he went on tour. He would be worried about them and he didn’t want that. Now after rejecting Ivy’s contract of marriage she was sending him another contract. This contract stated that they were to have no contact if they wanted to speak about the baby they had to do it through lawyers.

That’s where it all begins; he is not going to let her run again. He is going to follow her and they are going to get to know each other.

This is my first read by Ms. Ashton and I have to say that I enjoyed this read. I was looking for a read that I could just enjoy; I was looking for something that I didn’t need to think to much and this was just perfect. I could completely relate to her feelings but not with her way of thinking. My heart broke when I heard both of their stories of what happened to her in the past and then what happened to his family. I so wanted to yell at him and tell him that there was nothing wrong with him that he was his own person and Ivy was her own. I love how assertive she was with her mother and how she told her how it was going to be when she had her baby she was finally doing what she wanted not what her mother groomed her to be. The chemistry between Ivy and Angus was instant and it never dulled it just kept getting more explosive.

This book is sheer romance and it was a heart warming read.

Ivy Molyneux has always wanted her father's attention and she's worked hard to achieve it with high grades in college and her management skills.. She is about to be promoted to head Australia's biggest mining operation. She is uptight and even counts her steps when she walks.
A one-night stand with a handsome SAS officer, Angus Barlow, who is best man at her sister's wedding is way out of character. Neither expected any consequences, but Ivy finds herself pregnant. So she offers Angus a million dollars to marry her for one year. But he’s not about to be bought and refuses marriage but wants to have a part in his child’s life. His job takes him away for months at a time and he doesn't like the idea of being an absentee father.. Ivy finds she has lost control of the situation and she has no choice but to become a single mother. Angus won't listen to her pleas and is certainly not going to be controlled by a woman business executive. How they adjust to the idea of being parents is an interesting take on the problem.
Pros: The book is well-written and moves along very quickly. Both characters are well developed, and both had character flaws they had to work through besides having a pregnancy thrown in.
Cons: Even though there are many men in real life who don't marry their girlfriends when they become pregnant, I hated that the hero, Angus, did this. It took me until the end of the book to like him again.
Would I recommend? Absolutely. It is a well-written book.

Ivy never expect herself to be pregnant as a result of one daring night. She was never a reckless woman but on the night of her sister’s wedding, she did the unthinkable and now she have to face with the consequences. She is the head of a Group company and with her impending pregnancy, her position is in jeopardy. Angus is a military man and long term commitment is not something that he dream to have in his life. But as a result of a night together, he is going to be a father. Ivy come up with a solution i.e. to get married and then divorce when the baby is born which Angus has rejected. But he is willing to try to get to know each other without a contract to bind them together.

It is a story of plan that went wrong for Ivy which ended up with her finding her happily ever after with the man that she loved. They started at the wrong footing but when there is no pressure, and being together solely for them to get to know each other, it has indeed open their eyes to each other and the possibility of finding love that both of them have no intention to find. Overall, it is a well written story and is a solid read for me.

Sometimes you meet someone in life and all it is meant to be is a fleeting moment in time. If that per chance encounter happens to be of the passionate variety, then that also is perhaps only to be a fond memory one dwells upon in later years.

Both Ivy and Angus believe their brief encounter is destined to be a moment of unbridled passion never to be repeated again. For Ivy it is an unexpected loss of control, and she hates relinquishing control to anyone else, even to her own desires.

Unfortunately life in general is like a box of chocolates and you never know what you're going to get. In this case Ivy gets something she just hadn't planned for. The kind of surprise that changes all her well thought out plans.

It just remains to be seen whether or not Angus will be willing to go along with her new plans, which focus around the surprise. Ivy isn't quite sure what to do with the SAS soldier, who most certainly will not be controlled, led or ordered around by the savvy business executive.

Ashton's oops-bun-in-the-over romance narrative is anything but conventional. Ivy is a career woman, a wealthy women, and Angus (great hero name!) is not one to commit to anything but the military. What makes this both good and interesting is that Ashton doesn't treat these as conceits to get her narrative going, they persist in the characters and form believable blockages to their HEA. Mistakes can make or break us. Ivy made a mistake when she was 19. Since then she's
Toes the line. But at her sister's wedding, she lost control. When she realizes she's pregnant, she plans out her next year and how everything will go. Only Angus, the baby's father, doesn't fall into her plans like she thinks he should. This of course causes problems and they have to work through them. I enjoyed this story and how everything turned out. The story had several interesting subjects, from dementia to PTSD.

There were sexual situations, but not detailed.

I liked the practical heroine (I like practical heroines). I liked seeing her crumble. I liked how she propositioned the hero for damage control.

And I loved that the hero turned down her offer. I know, I know… But they were honest to a fault, and while the romance development itself was a little unremarkable, I felt they genuinely liked each other.

It was a unique HEA road to take, and I appreciated that. Backstories had surprising depth that anchored the book.

What a weird book.

No joke, 90 percent of it took place within the first month of her pregnancy, and even though it was an accidental pregnancy book, there was no actual sex. They then fast forwarded five weeks till she could see the ultrasound and then the epilogue. So, so odd.

Definite pass for me.
