Hot and Bothered

Rate this book
Living la belle vie is the best revenge... Hosting a fabulous party is the perfect cap-off to Cassie Hagen’s successful business trip in Paris. Living in the land of decadent macarons, Louboutins, and French champagne is great – especially compared to her past life as the scholarship student at a tony New York private school. Then Jack Marchand shows up. Sure, he's hot, French and super apologetic about how he humiliated her in high school. He was all of her firsts: her first lover, the first to break her heart and the first to dump her after one night together. Jack has never forgotten Cassie. He’s determined to prove he’s changed and win her back. As an apology, it's pretty much perfect. Deliciously so. But Cassie isn't quite ready to forgive him.

3.5 Getting That Do Over Stars * * * 1/2

I think we all have had "situations of the heart" where we wish we could have a do-over. Maybe it was our early teenage years... or even last week. The desire to change an outcome is what this quick story is all about... and we get to travel to France for it to happen.

Cassie Hagen has made things happen for herself. She has an amazing career, traveling the world arranging luxurious rentals for the well to do. She is the right hand of the president whose company purchases these estates and penthouses, overseeing every little detail ...the furnishings, supplies and designs of these beauties.

She has made a name for herself... coming a long way from the scholarship student she was at the la, de, da private school in New York City. She no longer needs to feel less than or out of place. She took all those bad times and used them as fuel to make her strong, determined to be financially stable and independent. Now she is dressed in all the labels, with the red soled shoes if she wants...she has the means to look out for her sister Anna... and life is good....

She does have to deal with an uncomfortable memory, though. It is her sister's birthday and Cassie has gone all out for the party here in Paris... champagne, incredible food and music...all the flowers and settings...with Anna inviting the Marchand brothers.... Oh, these men... each beautiful and sexy in their own way...and now Cassie will have to be polite to Jack, the one who broke her heart... who caused her such pain...

Jack was her first love, first wonder and then after all of the firsts... he became her first pain. Teenage boys, clicks and parents can make all kinds of demands on young love. Cassie felt the embarrassment and to this day... it still lingers. It has been 10 years and this will be the first time she will have to come face to face with him. When she does,he is still the most appealing man...now with the added benefit of being older and more sure of himself.

Jack has been wanting to see Cassie for years... to apologize... to make amends... He realized too late how important she was to him...how what his family deemed right ... wasn't for him. He is thrilled to be in the same city, same room with Cassie...and he is determined to do things right this time....a Do Over.

This was a fast read with France and Italy as the backdrop. We had very well to do people, rich mean girls and very hot sexy times between Cassie and Jack, two people meant to be together.

Cassie Hagen is a successful women with a job that she loves. Her job has carried her this time to Paris. This trip is more than business, it's her sister Anna's birthday and Cassie has gone all out to celebrate it, including throwing her a party she'll remember forever. Everything looks great except Cassie is a bundle of nerves. Anna has invited the Marchand brothers and Jack Marchand was the one who broke her heart back in high school. When Jack shows up, he is there for more than an apology.

This was a Cosmo read. I liked them because they are short love stories. Hot & Bothered was good too. I enjoyed it. The story had me at second chance romance. I like Cassie. She has developed confidence over the years and Jack has matured and realized his awful mistake.
I do wish that Anna could get her own story with her own Marchand brother.

Cliffhanger: No

I had the immense pleasure of being gifted a copy of Hot and Bothered by Liz Maverick for an honest review. I adored it. This story is a light and entertaining read with heart. The main characters of this story have to decide if they are going to let misunderstandings and anger keep them apart. I am loving Harlequin's new Cosmopolitan Reads line.
