This is an interesting collection of short stories/scenes to review. Obviously it's meant to be an introduction to 20 authors and the type of love/sex scenes that they write, in the hopes that something you read will entice you to look for more of their work. So in the process of reading these excerpts three things came to mind. 1 - not every type of scene works for me. I didn't care for some of the scenes and I know now that there are certain types of books that don't interest me. But I'm glad to have been exposed to that in this collection as opposed to buying a whole book and finding that it wasn't to my taste. 2 - every author writes their scenes quite differently. Sure, there is the whole "part A goes into slot B" mechanics of a sex scene but it is the nuances of emotion, thought processes of the individuals involved, and how the scene fits into the plot that make them unique. And 3 - the importance of sexual tension leading up to a big scene cannot be overstated. Just diving into a scene with little buildup to the dynamics of the couple involved is titillating, no doubt, but oh so much better when the sexual tension has been built up before it. The takeaway message here is that I found some scenes I really liked that will inspire me to look for some new to me authors and find out more about what has made their characters tick. Hopefully that's what you'll get out of it too! 4 stars.
I have found a few new authors and books to read. While part 2 collectively for me wasn't quite as off the charts steamy sex as part 1, there were definitely some authors' whose sex scenes will leave you panting and panty melting.
