छापामारको छोरो नेपाली साहित्यकार महेशविक्रम शाहद्वारा लेखिएको कथा हो । विसं २०६३को मदन पुरस्कार प्राप्त गर्न सफल छापामारको छोरो (कथासंग्रह)मा संग्रहित यो कथा नेपालमा सशस्त्र द्वन्द्वको समयमा रहेको सामाजिक परिवेशलार्इ चित्रण गर्दै लेखिएको छ ।

Mahesh Bikram Shah’s Chhapamar Ko Chhoro [Son of a
Guerrilla) is a book of short stories. The anthology comprises eighteen stories presenting various facets of the maoist's insurgency in the Nepal then. “Badhsala ma Buddha” [Buddha in a Slaughter House],“Ma ra Murdaharu” [Me and Corpses], “Ekadeshma”[In a Country], “Babuko Kandh ma Chhoro Sutiraheko Desh” [The Country where the Son is Sleeping in the Father’s Shoulder],“Mero Kukur Aajhai
Bhukiraheko Thiyo” [My Dog was Still Barking], “Bandha
Dhoka ra Samaya” [Closed Door and Time], and “Bandha
Dhoka ra Sapanaharu” [Broken Door and the Dreams] and many more stories which gives a pictorial representation of brutality of maoists cadres and the rampant dreadful silence and cries of the Nepali villages and the fear in Nepali faces.

युद्दकालमा देशमा घटेका घटनाहरुलाई यथार्थ चित्रण गरिएको 'छापामारको छोरो' कथाहरु मात्र नभएर आम नेपालीहरुले भोगेका व्यथाहरु हुन् ।
युद्दले पिडित नेपाली व्यक्तिका, परिवारका, समाजका साथै सिंगो देशका यथार्थका दुखद घटनाहरु हुन् ।

यी कथाहरु नयाँ नेपाली पिढीका लागि हाम्रो देशले बार्ह बर्ष सम्म गुज्रनु परेको दुखद स्थितीको दस्ताबेज हुनेछ । जसबाट आउने पिढीले युद्द कुनै पनि समस्याको समाधानको बाटो कदापि हुन सक्दैन भन्ने कुरा मनन गर्ने अवसर पाउने छन् ।

The collection of stories are quite impressive. The stories were able to disturb me by reminding the Maoist insurgency period, many terrifying stories of the period are showcased by the author. I have no idea if the book is available in other languages or not but i felt like these kind of books must get a vast audience . Well written and deserving book.

द्वन्दकालिन समय कुनै देशका लागी पनि राम्रो हैन। आफ्नै देशमा भएको १0 बर्षे माहोवादी युद्धले आम-मानिसहरुमा कस्तो असर गरेको थियो, महेशविक्रम शाह ले पानामा उतारिदिनु भएको छ। धेरै कथा पढ्दा आङ्ग सिरिङ्ग हुन्छ, कतै केही समयलाई पुस्तक बन्द गरेर सोच्न बाध्य बनाउछ। बाबुले काँधमा छोराको टाउको बोकेको कुरा या किडी जियाले कर्नालिमा हाम फालेको यथार्थ कहालीलाग्दो छ। जब यति कसरत गरेर नयाँ नेपालको सृजना भएको छ तब नेपाली समाज र नेपालीहरुले सुखका दिन बाच्न पाउनु र देख्न पाउनु अरु भन्दा पनि जरुरत देखिन्छ। छोरो गुमाएको बाबुलाई के पुरस्कार हुन्छ र? हुम्लामा एक छाक खान नपाएर भोकै मरेका जन्तालाई अब सरकारले के दिन सक्छ र? विकास बाहेक। नेपाली समाज सधै बुज्न चाहाने मेरो धोको र यस्को विकास कसरि हुँदै आइरहेको छ, बुझ्न चाहाने मेरो इच्छालाई महेशविक्रम शाह जस्ता लेखकले गर्दा पूरा भएको छ। पक्कै पनि उहाँहरुको यो उपहार बद्लामा समाजलाई केही दिएरै पूरा गर्ने छु।

जनयुद्धका घाइते, बिस्थापित, शहिद, बेपत्ताहरु। यी सबै शब्द हरु केबल एउटा क्लिसे जस्तो लाग्थ्यो मलाई, तर छापामरको छोरोले यी शब्द हरु मा मेरा लागि भावना भरिदियो। तत्कालिन ग्रामीण नेपाललाई कथित जनयुद्धले पारेको प्रभाब, एउटा आमा, एक बा, एक श्रीमती, एक अनाथ छोरो र अन्य कैयौँ सम्बन्धहरु बीचको कहालीलाग्दो अवस्था चित्रण सजीब लाग्छन। कती कथाहरु सामान्य छन् भने कती कथाहरु ले मुटुको भित्री भागमा छोए जस्तो लाग्छ। यो कथा सङ्रह पढिसक्दा र अहिले को वर्तमान अवस्था हेर्दा १० बर्षे युद्धको सार्थकता भेट्टाउन निकै मुश्किल पर्छ।

This book represents the true facet of the country during the maoists insurgency in Nepal. A collection of short stories by Mahesh Bikram Shah, a superintendent of police of then, it is a sorrowful read. TO read this book, one would require a heart of immense strength. While reading this book, one undergoes much pain, shock and fear and even feels the brutality and cruelty of maoist cadres under his/her nerves. Some of the stories are truly political, some represent the situation in the villages remote from the city area and the condition of people living down there. Some are written using a masses of people as protagonist while some are written as personified experience of peoples who went under these traumatic condition. A true eye-witness story of the trembling of a country down from its roots, failing to stand on its own, this book could be one of the most horrifying book in one's life. But then, Its not the book, those were the situation under which people lived, survived waiting for the hour of their death to engulf them which came to some while other were left to bear much more pain between the corpses and mass killing of innocent villagers.
