What happens when everything you thought you knew suddenly changes with a few simple words?
When Samantha Connelly fell hard for the one person that could rip her world apart she wasn’t prepared for the bomb he would later drop on her. With a few words, Brian completely turned her world upside down and sent her into an emotional spiral.
Forced to leave town once again, she begged him to come with her…pleaded with him to choose her…to love her, but Brian had his own agenda that he couldn’t deviate from.
What happens when two people who are meant for each other are forced apart with no reunion in sight? How do you recover from the reality that you may never see one another again? How do you go back to being a nobody when all you want in life is to be somebody to someone?

4 Stars ** This is book two of The Witness Series and should be read after book one**
I hope you are reading this review after having read book one, because I don’t want to give away any spoilers for book one…
I love this series. It is suspenseful, dramatic, and hot, everything I love in a great book and series. Sam, (aka Mallory, Emily, Jennifer) has been relocated again… and this time, it’s after she finally found something worth fighting for…. Brian.
Sam is a strong, independent character, for everything that is thrown her direction she takes it in stride. The one person she counts on is herself (that’s my opinion of her). If I had to live the life she had to, I don’t think I would have become half the woman she was in this story. Her life is dramatic and suspenseful and it had me on the edge of my seat and cheering her on.
Book two picks up 4 years after her and Dev were separated and he never came to find her, so Sam does what she does best, she starts over. But when she gets the news that everything is over and she can be herself again, she sets out on an “adventure” to find him with her own secrets to “air out”.
Dev (aka Brian) is the one, the one to change Sam’s life around, but when things fall apart he has to leave Sam, and I about damn near cried. Dev is everything a woman could want in a man, dominate, loving, and devoted, but there is a problem, he also lives his life full of secrets.
There are some major twists and turns in this book that will have you asking yourself if love can really conquer all. So, if you have read book one and are ready for more, Becoming Somebody was a great continuation of Sam’s story!
*** Warning…. It has a little bit of a cliff hanger (but that’s what keeps us wanting more ;) )
No, no, no and just NO!!!! The first book ended on a cliff hanger but that was nothing compared to the way this one ends. I mean seriously, you can't end a book like that, with my heart in my shoes. It's just not fair!! Ok, so my little pity party is sort of done now so I will tell you about this book.
This one picks up where the first one ends and Sam is in Vegas living yet another life. It kind of jumps forward a few years and Sam gets the news that she is finally free and no longer needs the witness protection program so she decides to go and find Dev. Sam has a secret though and she has no idea how Dev will handle it but she should never have worried.
Any way, this book is very sweet but it also has its drama, especially with Sam trying to come to terms with Dev's job and how that will effect her and Mara.
The heat is back on between Sam and Devlin - Heather D'Agostino knows how to set the pages on fire, that's for sure! This book seems to be more about them finding their HEA than his job or her past. I missed the suspense and thrill from the first book.
I get the connection between Sam and Dev but I felt bad for Andy - call me crazy. For me, it set the stage where it appeared as though Sam used him as a convenient baby daddy - for me that was out of character for her.
All in all I enjoyed Heather's writing and can't wait for Tiff and Jase's story in book 3.
I loved the first book but I love the second more. The way the clichanger was left in book one, I didn't know how things would or could turn out right. But the amazing writer Heather D'Agostino did not disappoint at all. I was shocked when I found out how long it had been for Sam and Dev but the writer made it work. It was a brilliant second book to the first book and I seriously can't wait for Jace and Tiffany's story. I recommend this book as this is a really great love story that has ups and downs. Brilliant.
This is the 2nd book in the Witness Series and it answers many questions while taking you on a ride. It also leaves you with questions, but I know that they'll be answered in the next installment. I really enjoyed the book. It has action, adventure, romance, some twists and turns, some sexy, and a little bit of frustration in it. If you loved the first book, then you want to continue the journey with Becoming Somebody. Thoroughly enjoyable read and I recommend the series! 4.5 stars!
Must read book 1 (Being Nobody) in order to understand book 2. Without giving too much away, there a lot going on in this book and you will be lost without reading book 1. Can lost loves truly be reunited? Can we all find out Happily Ever Afters? Sam, Mallory, Dev and Brian are all connected. But how? Who is actually who? And what other big secrets are being hidden? Once again, I loved this book and look forward to the next one.
I'm so thankful for having a chance to review this story. I fell in love with Being Nobody and waited impatiently for Becoming Somebody. It was so full of emotions. My heart broke for Sam and Dev the whole way through. I am hopin that there will be more of there story after Tiff and Jace's story that is next in line. Thank you Heather for allowing me the chance to review you fabulous stories
I got a portion of the first book on black Friday. Then I realized how great t hi is series is. Now it's left me on a cliff hanger. Ugh. Love this author and this series. The author seems to just bring you in with excitement of what will happen next.
Loved it so much and can't wait for Jase and Tiffs story but that ending to book 2 was terrible. Even if it goes to through the next series it was terrible to leave a reader that way. The only bad think in the whole book. Was the ending. I gate open ending books. Doesn't make sense to leave it that way. Because usually when they are back in another book with the main character different it doesn't explain anything and it bugs me. I also didnt like how she treated Andy. He didn't deserve any of it. And even tho he wasn't the father he was for 4 years( i think 4 cause 1x it said 4 the next it was 3 so who knows) anyways you can't just expect someone to let that go. Besides he lo Ed her even if she didn't she treated the whole situation like crap to honest. I really felt bad for him Dev also treated him like crap also for no reason. He was called for a reason. And Dev should of got over it. I just dont know it was so poorly handled. But with that being said I loved every other aspect of this book. I loved Sam and Dev. To find out that he was the one from when they were 17 was awesome. I even guessed he was a cop of some kind. I enjoyed this and can't wait to read the next one. Thanks so much. Also these are only my thoughts and mine alone. I express that everyone has different tastes and just cause someone does or doesn't like something means you have to too. I don't like paranormal but lots do so please read this with your own opinion. It really was good.
Note from author: This book contains profanity and graphic sexual situations. It is intended for adult readers.
At the end of book one Sam and Dev have gone their separate ways. Sam is still in the witness protection program and needs to move again but Dev is still undercover and working a case. One in which he cannot leave and go with Sam even after she pleads with him to so do.
Fast forward four years and Sam is living her life in Vegas, with a new beau Andy and her daughter Mara. Andy is in the dark about her past as she once again cannot say anything – but they are building a life together. Then one day she finally gets the phone call she has waited her whole life for – the bad guys are gone and she is free to live her life.
Sam decides to break it off with Andy and pack her and Mara up and head back to Chicago to try and find Dev, as that was the last place, she knew him to be at. She is holding a secret that Dev needs to know about – but can she tell him? Can she find him? Can they be a real family?
Good storyline, nicely paced, add in the drama, and the secret and you got a great story that kept my interest. The only downside - I bought this book right after reading book one to find out what happened with Sam and Dev as it ended on a cliffhanger, but now I must purchase another book to get the closure I need. Not really liking that! However, that is my fault as I should have taken in the word “series” when I bought book one.
Watching as Samantha continues to try and figure out who she is and what she wants is really a neat thing. Watching her become involved with Andy, was different. When she left and went back to Chicago, I had to cheer for her. Who is Mara Ford? Who is the mysterious person on the motorcycle that keeps popping up when Samantha goes back to Chicago? Where does she end up moving to? What is the outcome of this? Will she ever see Brian or Dev again? You're going to have to read to see what happens. All I can say is I'm now looking forward to Jase's book next!
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin' With M. Brennan.
This was a very good story, the chemistry between Sam and Dev was palpable, and respect to the author for a really fun read. But a lot of the tension felt forced, scenes put in to further the story were just feeling irrelevent to the overall novel, and a lot of it is just not how the real world and reality works. Also feel like book 1 and 2 could've just been combined, as I read them so quick and I feel like I've hardly even read a full story after reading both.
I bought this book to find out what happened with Sam and Dev. It was interesting up to a point but mostly it had sex scenes which didn't add the book in any way. The book was a tease so you would want to read the 3rd novel. It was very short and kind of disappointing with not much substance .
This series is consuming me. This book was just vas incredible as the first one. I felt so much emotion and I felt the pain of Sam and Dev. It's difficult to do what you love even when it takes you from the ones that you love. I want to say so many things and the writing but I want to read on, so I'll simply say, perfection. 20 stars!!
This is the continued story of Sam and Dev from book one but rather than a tidy HEA ends in another uncertain ending. Still a very good read but just has me wondering if Dev will make it through the last uncover operation.

I read this book as I enjoyed the first one so much, although I enjoyed reading this book it wasn't as good as the first one. I felt it took a long time to get the characters together and then the ending felt rush. I'm hoping that the characters pop up in future books so we can find out more!
You can find more reviews Mademoisellesnow Blog Forced to leave Brian and the life that she was building Samantha rebuilds her life in Vegas with her new family. It’s been 4 years and she’s got a daughter to take care of. But when the men that have been threatening her life since she was 7 years old has been safely locked away for the first time in her life it means that she can finally have the life that she had always dreamed about. On her way back to the town where it all started with Brian or Detective Devlin can Samantha be somebody to someone now?
I absolutely loved this book! With the first one ending in a cliff-hanger, I was lucky enough to have already gotten this one on my kindle. I don’t think I would have known what to do with myself without continuing on with this story. I love Samantha and I love Devlin. Both of them just have so much going for them but still so much going against something that they are trying to build. The story was so gripping that I kept reading till the very end. There aren’t very many books that truly remind me of a well-told tale. This was one of them. The chemistry of the characters just sizzled off the pages, I felt anymore sizzling my kindle might have burnt up. I just have so much love for both these characters that I wished that we could peek into their lives a little more. The writing was really easy to read, it flowed nicely and the pace of the book was fantastically calculated. I’ve definitely become a fan of Heather D’Agostino’s books. Will definitely have to start picking up her other novels. So keep your eyes and ears peeled for more! I’d love to hear all your thoughts for those of your who have read this series and can’t wait to hear from those of you whom haven’t read it and picks it up.
Wow did NOT see the beginning of this book happening!!! Sam is living under a new identity and has been for four years yet she isn't with Dev. I thought for sure he would have found her by then but she actually has been dating someone else. She has a very large secret she is keeping from Dev and when he finds out you feel his pain at her not coming out and telling him. It's up and down, push and pull for these two that are perfect for each other yet something is always in the way. I absolutely love Sam's resilience to almost any situation expect where Dev is concerned. She does whatever it takes to give them the life they both want. I cannot wait to read the next book!

Becoming Somebody is the sequel to Being Nobody in author H. D'Agostino's Witness series. The story picks up immediately after the events in the first book by way of the prologue, but then skips ahead four years in the first chapter. Before I get into the nitty-gritty of my review, I'm going to go ahead and warn you that you need to have already read the first book if you're going to read my review. If you haven't read it, please don't proceed with reading this review, because I'm going to be mentioning a name or two that may end up spoiling the first book for you if you're planning on reading it. Feel free to come back and read whatever I have to say when you're done with either the first book or both the first and second books. I do try to keep my reviews spoiler-free, but in the case of this book, 100% spoiler-free is not entirely possible.
Samantha Connelly fell in love with the same person she fell in love with at seventeen but was left with no choice yet again but to move and change her name. When she gets to Vegas, she becomes Jennifer, and while there, she experiences more than one life-altering change. She pleaded with Devlin Ford to come with her, but Dev had his own responsibilities as a police officer to take care of, and both time and distance separate them. Sam's life moves forward, and the fact that she contemplates being with another man a week after she and Dev separate had me raising my eyebrow. The first chapter held a bit of a surprise, but nothing shocked me more than how Sam treated Andrew Sommers, the man she had been living with in Vegas. I found it rather cold and reprehensible, even if she never really loved Andy the way she loved Dev.
Then there's the reunion with Dev. She made certain life choices because she wanted the opportunity to be with Dev again, and yet she was running hot and cold with the guy. She tried to make him feel terrible for his decision to stay in Chicago to continue working undercover, but she was keeping yet another secret from him. This from a woman who wanted honesty. There wasn't much going on other than Sam's new secret and Dev's still being an undercover cop, so it felt as if some things were dragged out much longer than necessary. I feel, had both books been condensed into one novel, it would have worked out better, but hey, that's just my opinion. And the ending was yet another cliffhanger, but why end it on a cliffhanger when the third book is about a different couple? It made no sense. Three stars for Becoming Somebody. ♥
I will post a review closer to release date BUT..... If you liked this 1st book you NEED to read this to find out about Mallory/Sam and Mr. Hottie Federal Agent.
Heather leaves you with a MINI Cliffy which annnnny fan of her writing will be stunned that you dont wanna kick her under the table......

Review----------------
I received this book from the author for an honest opinion.
If you follow my reviews you know I loves meeee some Heather. Her books are very well written with super alphas, sassy females, steamy sex, and amazeballs twists. Yeah those twists are sometimes a gut punch but a twist none the less…. I am a super lucky reader because Heather trusts me with her manuscripts while she is writing. So as all of you are reading and falling in love with her characters, I have read them and kept my lips ZIPPED for MONTHS…MONTHS PEOPLE…MONTHS…..Now I get to blab to you about this greatness of this novel!!!
So I don’t want to spoiler anything about last books epic cliffy soooooo if this is general please understand it is for your plot enjoyment. Spoilers make me a sad reader……
This book takes place about 4 years from when our last book ended. Sam is in Vegas with a new love named Andy raising her daughter Mara. Sam cannot get her Alpha hottie agent from Chicago of her head. She decides she has to give it a chance to find this one true love of hers…sorry Andy but your time is up…OR is it???? She packs her stuff and returns without Andy to Chicago. She places her new life in the same path as her old life in hopes that Brian will find her IF he is in Chicago.
Sam starts to build her life in Chicago with old friends and explains what when down last book…..when she gets a bit nervous about a possible stalker….eeepppp is it the bad guys again? Are they going to find her AGAIN??? Well a call to her old handler tells her she is safe buuuut the guy is *GASP* Brian’s old partner!!! YAY!! So now is when her Mr. Hottie Alpha Cop shows back up. The two have a lot to work out and figure out plus dealing with the news from things he didn’t know during the 4 years Sam has been gone……….
There were times I wanted to smack Sam in the head and kick Mr. Hottie in the butt buuut that is what we do in these novels right. I loved the ending and prolly cried the most then. I am really excited for Jase and Tiff’s story. He is also a Mr. Hottie Alpha Cop but his soul is DAMAGED and poor Tiff is so in love with his….sigh……..
Becoming Somebody is the follow up to Being Nobody. You must read the first book before you read this story. While I think you would be able to follow the story okay, I don't think you will fully grasp the story and the characters of you don't. If you haven't read book one, stop reading this review. There are spoilers to book one in this review.
For the most part I really enjoyed this book. I felt that the author kept the story at a good pace which kept me interested. It's a great follow up to where book one ended. As you'll remember, Sam was in witness protection. She had to leave her boyfriend Dev behind when she had to relocate. He could not go with her because he was working undercover on a case.
In this book, Sam is now safe. Her time in witness protection is over and she is free to live her life however she wants. She heads back to Chicago in hopes of finding Dev. There's just one hiccup. She now has a daughter. Dev's daughter. He knows nothing about her. When he learns that Sam is back in town he runs to her as quickly as he can. This is their story of reuniting and building a future. This book did end on a bit of a cliffhanger, nothing too shocking, but it definitely leaves you wanting more.
Now I said that I mostly liked this story. There were a couple of issues I had. First, Sam's attitude toward Dev when they finally see each other. I felt she was a bit irrational at times. I didn't understand her anger towards him. There were glimpses in the story where I just thought she was a bit unnecessarily bitchy. Then, there were a few situations that didn't make sense to me. I really can't say which situations without giving spoilers to this book, so you'll just have to read the book to see if you have the same issues.
However, all in all I enjoyed this book. Well, both books in the series. I'm interested to see where the author takes us next. Book 3 in the series is about two different characters, Jade and Tiff, who I really liked, so I can't wait for their story. But, Dev and Sam aren't done yet, cliffy remember, so I'm hoping we see them again soon.
I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
Heather D’Agostino is the best at leaving you hanging at the end of her boons waiting and wanting to know what will happen. Becoming Somebody is the second in her Witness Series. If you have not read Being Nobody put this down and hurry read Being Nobody first.
Becoming Somebody starts with Sam once again having her life turned up side down and whisked away from the love of her life. Moving to a new town, a new name and a new life she is forced to start over without Dev once again.
Sam is now known as Jen and after four years has made a new life fore herself with Andy. Andy is no Dev but he loves her and takes care of her and Mara. When everything is settling down and going halfway good for Jen her world gets turned upside down again. With her threat gone she can now return home to Chicago and to being Sam. Sam has to find Dev and tell him about Mara. Once again Sam leaves her life behind to find her one true love. Can she fine Dev; will thinks be the same or will Andy fight to keep his family.
I enjoyed the Thanksgiving scene and seeing Sam’s mom save her. I could so see this happening in to me. I loved the girl chats between Sam and Tiff. It was great to see Sam back at the Rusty Nail. Although a lot of the hard work was put into the Rusty Nail it was all worth it. The emotional ups and downs kept me turning the pages trying to figure out if Sam would find Dev. Would Andy fight or walk away or could Sam and Dev make it if Dev gets called away. I so want to know more about Jase and see where Jase and Tiff relationship goes too.
A few of my favorites:
“Yeah, Dev,” I grinned as I sidled up beside him, “am I in trouble?” His nostrils flared and his voice lowered to a deep rasp. “Don’t test me,” he warned. “Just because she’s here doesn’t mean you’re safe.”
Dev had always been there—in the back of mind. He’d written his name on my heart when we were seventeen. Now that we were back together, he’d branded it.
