In the Wonderland of Indian Managers
In this book, In the wonderland of Indian Managers, Rangnekar sports the inbuilt idiocies and idiosyncrasies of our managerial systems and traditions, and blasts them sardonically. A brilliant analysis of the Indian management scene, this book is for managers at all levels form trainees to directors. Common problems and their solutions have been described in his characteristic style which is delightfully complemented by R K Laxman’s inimitable cartoons.

This book was written in 1970s. The scenario then and now has changed totally. If you follow the tips given in this book, you would very soon lose your job! Also the book had many spelling and grammatical mistakes!

I think the examples in this book primarily relate to manufacturing industry. Whilst the theory can be considered, the examples are too old to be adapted in today's work environment. Hence, the reader may not be able to relate to the book. The examples and scenarios need to be revisited in the next edition if possible.

Enjoyable if you have ever worked in an Indian company. Most of the social commentary is still fresh, which shows how little progress we have made is over the years.

This books depicts management principles in difference. Note the word "Management" and not "Leadership". I am not sure these principles are suited for today's global / distributed environment.
Sharu yells on practises followed by the INDIAN managers - I can argue that these mostly suits for companies having traditional management philosophies. Not inline with global organisation (software perse).
Though at the end of pages, somewhat realted to my workplace because we could find the differences when our western bosses were replaced by Indian bosses ;-(
Then that.. it will handy for your quick read!! Cartoons were really interesting and good.

I had the privilege of winning this book from Sharu Ranganekar himself in his class and autographed by him in the book. I would have read this book multiple times and I have used his examples in my Speeches and lectures. This book is light to read first time, educative second time, makes you to think third time etc., You feel like reading this book again and again. Even though, this book is dated but it is relevant in every aspect today.

A brilliant masterpiece ... Management concepts depicted makes you smile often but at the same time throws lot of pragmatic questions where improvisation is needed... Hats off!
