Good Read!

I'm really enjoying the series. I finished book 1 last night and jumped right into book 2. I've really enjoyed this take on the expansion into space and can't wait to see where the story goes!

Sanctuary is the second book in this series, and as expected at the end of the first book, humans do do some alien butt kicking, only it's not on earth. Kind of surprising if you ask me, but I guess they need to start somewhere. The story is pretty good still, new aliens, interspecies cooperation, and a whole lot more. Great scifi stuff here. I'm going to read the next one, and see where it goes, though I'm not sure I'll keep reading after that if the humans remain as hands of as they have up to this point. Somebody needs to get in there and take out the alien menace.

Wow, this one surpasses the first once with excellent pacing, character development, and complexity. Ivan Kal is without a doubt my new favorite other and that is something that had not changed for 30 years! Ok now high praise like that might tend to attract high criticism so let me frame it in that I base this on the story and not the mechanics. It may be some of the editing might need a little enhancing for those that are sticklers for all of the rules of the road. Personally though I burned through this thing in 3 days and only age and fatigue kept me from pushing harder. Thank You for this great work and I hope other recognize this as something worthy of your regard and time.

Good

But that part with beathany in the middle ruined the rest of the book for me I still enjoyed it but I was in a bad mode the rest of the day feel like he just added romantic interest with almost no build up but being best buds and then appruptly cutting it for what felt to me as a poor attempt at character development I might be wrong though and it will be explained in the future

Epic Space Battle

Book 2 of the Rise of the Empire series. This follows two separate groups. Olympus and the old Earth. The bulk of the story is on Olympus and there is a clash with one of the groups of bad guys. The story is engaging and leaves you curious about what will happen next. Lots of advances and weapons and in the end it comes down to war. While sci-fi is not normally my thing, this is a fun series. It will be interesting to see where it goes next.

Another easy, fun read. I say easy because it was so engaging I blasted through it

The world building and evolution of the characters as well as storyline has been enjoyable. This has been a quick, easy read because it is so engaging. I already purchased the next one in a series going to be opening up next

Space battle....with missiles

The second was better than the first but not by much. Character development seems stunted and story is slow to get going. We will see how we progress with number 3

Better than the first

More characterization and plot than the previous novel, but still needs some work. It could use some more editing and the textual flow feels iff throughout much of the book, similar to an immature writing style.

Very contrived pacing. Space seemed too filled with advanced aggressive aliens.. Too focussed on some characters for my taste but admittedly i am spoiled by the complex plot of the "Honor Harrington" saga..

I'm enjoying this series

I am quickly reading this very enjoyable science fiction series. The story line is fast moving. The science is interesting and the portrayal of the humans is spot on.

A Great story continues

Moving on to the other parts of space keeps this book from feeling like a longer first book again. The different species are neat too.

So-So SciFi Story is Hampered By Author's Lackings

Though slightly improved in editing and/or proofreading, "Sanctuary," remains a pothole strewn road of a SciFi read. It's tedious, plodding, and just plain boring at times. The author appears to believe that needless "backstories," repetitive passages, hobbled together, helps his base storyline.

Book 2 finds the benevolent emperor of a socialist meritocracy, and his subjects, building their new civilization on their new home. Aliens, both friendly and dangerous, are encountered in nearby star systems. Lots of talk, lots of research, lots of building, little action takes place.

The storyline, is at best, just ok. The broken syntax, grammar, missing or misused words, and general substandard written words of the author, are a true distraction. The ignorance of science, disdain of military, and inane pretentiousness, self righteousness of the author's beliefs, are annoying.

"Sanctuary" was fully read via Kindle Unlimited and has a "neutral" recommendation.

Terribly written ok story

Ok story but I find comparative stupidity of the rest of the galaxy versus humans to be difficult to accept but it is sci-fi.

The writing is awful. On almost every page there are words missing, misused, or wrong. For example a ship expended all its missiles but the author wrote expanded instead. It makes the book hard to read trying to decode what he meant, and a simple word processor would solve most of the errors.

2 stars. DNF at 30%. Shallow story describing the first years after arrival in a new colony of the portion of humanity that left earth under a benevolent socialist dictator. It's really just a continuation of the first book with all of the inconsequential "action" related in a boring set of disconnected POVs.

Good but spelling and grammar mistakes abound

Not much more to say than the title implies. If you liked the first book and you can deal with spelling mistakes in nearly every paragraph then you'll find this a great sequel.

Done and done!

#2 down and going for 3. Good series and each character is progressing well. I like the idea of the ship master having 2 wolves/lions to stand by his aide. It adds an aura of authority and dominance. Hopefully we will see them in action. Thx
