Good morning! It's a beautiful sunny beginning to the day here in Western, Pennsylvania. I'm working on my 75th book. 75th! I'm very excited about that.

I've written some fun things ... those are the Silhouette Romance titles. I especially liked SNOWBOUND BABY which was book 3 of the Bryant Baby Bonanza series which also included BABY BEFORE BUSINESS and PRINCE BABY. But my favorites for Silhouette where the books of the Brewster Baby Boom series THE BABY BEQUEST, BRINGING UP BABIES and OH, BABIES! Where three bachelors inherit triplets. Those were fun to write. I go back every now and again and read them myself for a laugh!

My Harlequins are a little (sometimes a lot) more serious than my Silhouettes, but I always deliver a heart warming story that reminds readers that family and love go hand in hand.

You'll especially see that in FALLING FOR THE PREGNANT HEIRESS where Trent Sigmund decides to help his best friend Seth's baby sister Sabrina McCallan hunt down her on-again/off-again boyfriend, Pierre, to tell him he's about to be a father. Trent tries not to fall. So does Sabrina. Who knew real love had been in their backyard all along.

Sexy or sweet, funny or sad, my characters make some serious lemonade out of their lemons! :)

Because that's how I see life. I have three kids...one of whom has epilepsy. Raising him taught me (and my husband and our other two kids) that sometimes a situation that seems bad can have its blessings.

Super cute! I really enjoyed this one. She needs his help finding a job, he needs her on his arm to keep the matchmakers away. As soon as I finished this I bought another book by this author and read it.

Content: clean - mild language but not much, mild innuendo, just kissing - no sex, no crudeness.

This is a book that gets you into the Christmas party mode. It makes you feel for the characters. I wanted to hug them both. It deals with loss, poor and pity.

Eloise Vaughn has no one but friends. She is struggling to make ends meet in New York city. She doesn't want a handout she wants a job that she is qualified for.

Ricky Langley has a dark past. He doesn't want his friends to worry about him. He is rich now but so angry and suffering from a loss.

Ricky and Eloise meet at their friends Christmas party. Ricky makes a deal with Eloise if she pretends to date him for his other 12 parties He will help her get a job in her field. Eloise will meet a lot of contacts.

Ricky and Eloise both start to heal as they think about helping others instead of their pain and mourning. It does a good job of showing them both slowly changing in a positive way. Eloise really starts falling for Ricky even when she does not know of what is in his tragic past.

The setting for this book is New York City in December. Ricky's parties are for people with a lot of money.

Eloise is struggling but one thing she has is a nice wardrobe that is 5 years old. She takes it and updates her outfit the day of the party and looks good.

This is a easy fast clean romance that is enjoyable to read. I would read more of Susan Meier novels based on the Twelve Dates of Christmas.

I was given this ebook from Harlequin and Net Galley. In exchange I agreed to give honest review of The Twelve Dates of Christmas.

This is an incredibly sweet story set around the Christmas holidays which is what made me buy the book. I love Christmas stories. I don't want to spoil the plot, so I'll keep it brief. Ricky is the hero with a tragedy in his past and he meets Eloise, the heroine who's also experienced a deep heartache. They begin a series of fake dates based on mutual need. I felt so sorry for both of them for what they'd been through. My heart went out to Eloise immediately and the author did a fantastic job of creating a character that was so easy to root for. Plus, she handled the tragedy of the past without it becoming too heavy which I also appreciated. If you're looking for a quick, sweet read, I highly recommend this book.

Growing up with everything she ever had and lost it due to marrying someone her parents disapproved of, Eloise Vaughn is thrust back into elite society for 12 dates with Ricky Langley. But what neither anticipated is losing their heart to the other…and finding what has been missing to make themselves whole after loss.
The set up gives Ricky 12 dates, which reintroduces him back into society, showing he is ok after his devastating loss, but also gives Eloise an “in” to potential employers. Seeing an opportunity to not only rub elbows with the higher ups, but to be with sexy Ricky “no romantic involvement attached”, Eloise jumps at the chance. What neither anticipated was the entanglement their heart would endure from the very first date. Both fighting it, trying to keep the deal as platonic as possible, immediately sets the story. The want keeps the reader engrossed, hoping that they will finally open up to each other. Dealing with loss, thinking neither is good enough for the other, the inner turmoil of both characters tugs at the reader’s heartstrings.

Eloise Vaughn needs a job. Badly.
Ricky Langley needs a date. Badly
He's rich and desperate, she's poor(ish) and willing to help out. I don't generally like or gravitate toward category romance (too short for a real story) but this one wasn't bad. It's a trope that's been used before but with a twist that I hadn't read before. There were issues . But this was overall a pretty good book. I'm glad to have gotten this book from NetGalley and will keep a look out for Laura Beth's story (how slimy was the guy she was dating? Eww.)

The Twelve dates of Christmas is a story about two lonely people who are brought together through networking for a job.

Ricky needs to be seen with a women to appease his friends, Eloise needs to network to meet people so she can find a job. Their relationship starts out as an polite agreement and develops into a real relationship.

I connected with the characters but I couldn't see Ricky as a book boyfriend. I felt sorry for him instead.

Throughout the story Ricky is in denial of his feelings for Eloise and Eloise keeps wishing he would admit what they have is more than a professional networking relationship.

I kept reading because I wanted to find out how Ricky would end up telling his secret. The ending was a surprise.

Super successful entrepreneur Ricky Langley bumps into Eloise Vaughn at a business function, gets to talking with her for awhile before offering her a ride home after she's had an upsetting day. Talking with her and hearing of her struggle to find decent job prospects, he sees something of his earlier less successful self and offers to help. He offers to use his business contacts to get her interviews with some of the best companies in the city. In return, Ricky asks Eloise to pose as his date for twelve parties / functions he's expected to be at over the course of the holiday season.

Not long ago, Ricky suffered a tragedy. Since then, he's had to navigate the pity of friends and business associates, many who now want to see him get back in the game but hesitate to bring up the subject. He's hoping the presence of Eloise will shift the focus off of him. Eloise is hesitant to agree to the plan, not wanting to be perceived as a charity case... but being desperate for employment has a way of making the ego step aside.

Once the "dates" start, each time proves an opportunity for Eloise to show off her secret fashion designer skills. She crafts amazing creations out of secondhand finds that secretly leave Ricky breathless (you'll notice the girl loves herself an open back look). Eloise has her hands full making their coupledom seem realistic during the holidays. Ricky has his reasons for hating the Christmas season. But the more time they spend together -- no surprise, this being a romance --- she has a way of turning his heart.

Ricky is able to get Eloise to divulge her secrets but remains resolutely tight lipped about his own. The more he learns about who Eloise is, the real her, the more he comes to respect her. His resolve to not actually get involved with her emotionally begins to break down. Though Eloise has plenty of fun during her time with Ricky, tensions rise between them as it dawns on her that several dates have passed and Ricky has done virtually nothing to help her job prospects as he promised. Naturally, there's a calling-out scene where she brings this to his attention. He's defensive about it at first, but eventually acknowledges he's dropped the ball. When he does start to put focus on getting interviews lined up for her as promised, he hits a wall himself. He begins to understand her struggle. Ricky also sees how cold and short-tempered he's been with his own staff, dismissing his own unnecessarily harsh behavior as "professionalism".

It's a clean romance for the most part -- 200 pages to get to a first kiss, no sex whatsoever. It took a little time for the plot to really get going, most of the fun happening after the tequila shots scene (always the way, isn't it LOL). There's a surprising amount of honest self-reflection among these characters, set in realistic situations of struggle, which I appreciated. Definitely a fun one for the holidays without being overdosed on holiday sap.

I started out liking it, but after a while, I was just bogged down by the characters constantly being so hard on themselves and thinking they were not good enough for the other. I realize it’s hypocritical coming from me (who is forever putting herself down) ... but how about letting the other person decide whether or not you’re worth their time? Let them have a say instead of deciding for them? It’s almost selfish to think you know someone else’s mind better then they do ... ?

And that ending seemed so abrupt. As fed up as I was getting with Ricky’s cowardly(?) excuses(?) for not being with Eloise, I thought that the sudden lightning bolt of realization less than a day after seeing his family for the first time in years seemed unexpected? Why didn’t he fight them more like he was “fighting” Eloise?

Partial spoiler alert ... I hope that Ricky eventually “shares” Blake with Eloise. Even though she never met Blake, listening to Ricky talk about him will surely help Ricky keep Blake’s memory alive?

I liked the characters getting to know each other, although he wasn't that forthcoming with his info until close to the end. I liked the overall message of the story. That tragedy does not end your life, it will never go away, but you can move forward and start to enjoy life again. However, I didn't enjoy the rushed relationship or the ending. It was a good ending, just a bit rushed for what happens.

Nice redemption Christmas story. Ricky needs a date for Christmas parties to avoid all his friends asking when he'll start dating again after his tragedy, and Eloise needs to find a job now that her roommate/friend Olivia has moved out and gotten married. They strike up a deal that he'll introduce her to people in the hopes of getting her a job and she'll be his fake date for all the parties. Nothing was supposed to come of this except friendship. We all know that won't do at all. LOL

Rick and Eloise both are grieving and in different stages of moving on and guarded / protection mode regarding their feelings and sharing about their grief with each other which at times seems like one step forward two steps back from the party date or a fear of getting too close due to Rick's guilt and Eloise's pride and both not believing in their true self worth. Intriguing seeing separate perceptions and assumptions about the other person.

This was a wonderful Christmas romance. Ricky was a wealthy businessman. A year ago he'd lost his son in a car accident. Blake was only eighteen months old when he died. The child's mother had been driving drunk at the time. Ricky blamed himself for it. He'd intended on getting custody of Blake, knowing his mother didn't really want him but before Ricky could do anything about it the accident occurred. Now he's living with the guilt of not having acted sooner. When the book opens it's the middle of November and already holiday parties are being held, the first at his friends Tucker and Olivia's house. Ricky is so tired of appearing in public alone and having to endure people's pitying looks or their asking him if he was all right. Of course he wasn't all right. He was grieving the loss of his son!

Eloise is at Tucker's and Olivia's too since Olivia used to be Eloise's roommate. Eloise has endured her own share of grief. She'd married her tattooed, biker boyfriend so her parents disowned her. Then her husband died of cancer but when Eloise went crawling back home wanting her parents to comfort her in her grief, they'd sent the maid to the door to tell her to go away, they didn't want to see her. Now it's Christmas and once again she's entirely alone.

When she and Ricky meet, he asks her to be his date twelve times. He has an office party, a wedding, and ten other social engagements he has to attend and he thinks having a woman with him is one way of convincing everyone he's okay and moving on with his life. In return for Eloise's services, Ricky will use his numerous business contacts to find Eloise a job in her field of study. Of course, the arrangement is strictly business. He has no intention of getting involved with Eloise. However, his heart must have missed that memo because he's actually falling in love with her.

Ricky was so caught up in his grief he'd forgotten how to live. Thanks to Eloise he's slowly coming to life again. She's sweet, loving, kind, and gorgeous to boot. Ricky loves her companionship, she makes him laugh, and she's not pressuring him to talk about his tragic past. All points in her favor. Because these qualities also lead him to desire her as well, he keeps holding himself back in order to keep from getting close to her. He doesn't deserve her. He's a broken man and she could do so much better with someone else.

This was very entertaining. Really liked the characters. Although Ricky played the guilt card a little too often, he finally realized in the end that he loved Eloise and wanted to spend his life with her. The Christmas setting with all the glitzy parties they attended, the carriage ride in the park and the surprise Ricky has for Eloise in the end, make this well worth the time it took to read it. Definitely recommend.

Meier's romance novel had some great stuff going for it: she's an able writer, with some interesting turns of phrase, and solid banter. Her hero and heroine come together, however, on the basis of a pretty trite premise: a deal whereby she offers him twelve dates to get his friends off his back and in exchange, he helps a well-educated, stunning woman find a job ... either way, you'd think these two could manage these things without the necessity of the "deal." But there you have it. The novel opens light and fun, even funny, but hero Ricky (awful name) and heroine Eloise come from dark and sad places ... and the tone of the novel changes. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as the premise requires more gravitas to the whole thing. I felt sorry for these two, but I can't say I thoroughly embraced the narrative. They gained my sympathy, but didn't quite immerse me totally in their story. I was always aware of their set-up and their constant vacillations between "I love this person" and "my life is too dark," "I'm too damaged to risk hurting another person, or myself" ... without much by way of conflict to keep them apart, the narrative lapsed into these endless internal considerations. Romance, clean
I worried when I first borrowed this that it might not be clean. Was relived to find it was.
This was a cute, fun read. Tragedy leads Ricky to not feel like he deserves happiness. When he meets Eloise at the party of a mutual friend, he understands her situation, although he is far removed from it, as a very wealthy business owner.
Circumstances lead to him asking her to be his plus one at a series of parties. They are both attracted to each other, and misunderstandings based on their initial plans/promises/agreement keep them from being more than dates only until the very end.
I loved the characters, cared about their pain and struggles. While the writing wasn't a 4 or 5 for me, it still was a cute story, and pleasant to pass the time as a quick read.

Angsty character back-story wrapped in a candy-coated shell of a plot. I liked the heroine quite a bit, but didn't care much for the hero, who comes off as an inconsiderate jerkface on more than one occasion. I was annoyed with him for pretty much most of the story. This one is heavy on Rescue Fantasy and there were elements that annoyed me (Lord deliver me from Evil Party Girl Slut Exes), but this author knows her way around writing angst and she'd ramp it up, making me swoon - always in regards to the heroine. A bit of a yo-yo read for me. I disliked more than I liked, but what I liked was well done.

I loved this book. Perfect for the holiday. I loved that watching these two over the short time they were able to to heal each other, better themselves and find love on the way I love. This book was well written and a fun read. What I also liked about this book was that it was clean and didn't need extra spice to make this book a great one. I also want to point out that I love the cover to this book. What I also liked about this book was that it was clean and didn't need extra spice to make this book a great one.

The Twelve Dates of Christmas was a sweet and touching story about two people who suffered a very great loss and found a beautifully unexpected love. Over a twelve-date period, two strangers became friends. And though they fought against their romantic feelings for one another, their love was inevitable.

This is a short story, so the characters doesn't have a lot of time to show their personality and their development. Still, it's a christmas story about the love between two persons with traumatic backstories.

On the other hand the whole "be my date" story arc was actually a plot device because it didn't create the usual conflics of them pretending to be together, since they said they started only a few weeks ago.

What a sweet story. Ricky and Eloise have both been so very hurt. Neither want to share, but in sharing there is healing. In speaking of it, there is not a forgetting, but a moving on. Treasures found in each other remind each that helping others brings joy. Sweet kisses, deep pain, new-found peace.

"Meier’s romance is a lot of fun to read; don’t be surprised if you find yourself stifling a giggle here and there. This one is fast paced and contemporary, just like the streets of Manhattan portrayed throughout" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).

A heavier read than I'd expected; the hero and heroine are both MOURNING, so if you're looking for pure froth this won't fit the bill. But this book punched well above its emotional weight, considering its length, and succeeded in being truly touching.

3.5 stars. It's the time of year for Christmas stories, and this one caught my eye on my Kindle during a recent road trip. There was a lot of inner turmoil on the part of both main characters, but it was a cute story and I enjoyed it
