But can they find the strength to live with it--and with the men they love? "A drama-filled story." --Urban Reviews "Juggles each 'suspicious' intimacy issue in serious soul sistah style." --Publishers Weekly
Finished this little drama filled novel in like two and a half days because I just HAD to know what was going to happen LOL..Okay so this is the story of Situations, a full service hair salon and the lives of a stylist Tiffany and her best friend Candace, the owner Noelle, a male pedicurist Chauncey and all their personal situations as they try to handle themselves professionally. So each character is uniquely different and is highlighted with different chapters for each person--personally I found the sections with Noelle the most interesting and it was her story line that I kept reading to find out more about..So about them all-Tiffany is a 27 year old virgin, engaged to the man of her dreams and trying to keep him and her morals..Didnt really relate to her at all but thought her plight was interesting and tragic with a valuable lesson to all..Candace is a single mom with a trifling baby father trying to make it when she meets a man with a past she finds out about at the wrong time but can she see past it? The man in question is none other than Chauncey the pedicurist who wasnt looking for love but couldnt deny it after spending time with the enchanting and beautiful Candace, can she see him for the man he is not the man he was..and finally there is Noelle, a full figured sassy woman with a husband and grown son who secretly wants a baby girl in her life now that she is financially stable enough to provide and spoil her, she feels she is well on the way to convicing her husband-when a baby girl who looks just like her husband and son is dropped on her doorstep and she has to figure out if its her granddaughter or stepdaughter...DRAMA..Overall I did enjoy this read and it entertained me it just wasnt very deep or thoughtproving or even written well enough to be unforgettable..Recommended for a quick read to make you want to get to the end FAST..

Suspicions is a great story, it kept me guessing what would happen next! This story takes place in Chicago, and kept me emotionally invested in the outcome of the characters. Some of the characters even reminded you of someone you know. Sasha, you've done a wonderful job!

"Suspicions" is just okay. I feel like the author promised more than what was actually delivered. After reading "Confessions" by Sasha Campbell, I was revved up for her complexities. Instead I feel as if the story just cooled down. I was thoroughly disappointed by the editing. There are missing words, wrong tenses, and one character's name changes. Also as a native of Chicago, I don't feel as if my city was fully represented in this book.
I really enjoyed this book much better than the first one, Confessions>
Suspicions took a deep look at several of the characters relationships, and what did we find..Very suspicious behavior. Picture this:
One character comes home to find a beautiful baby girl on her door step. The baby has the same beautiful eyes as her husband, as well as her college son. Who does the baby belong to?
One character is a 27 year old virgin that lives with her fine fiance'. They are scheduled to get married within a few weeks. But one night, their "non-sex" zone gets out of hand and it leads to a very passionate exchange where her fiance wants the act reciprocated. She refuses, and this leads to an attitude change from her fiance.... Hanging out late with the guys and other Suspicious behavior. Should she wait the few weeks til her wedding or go ahead and sleep with her soon to be husband???
I really enjoyed following the lives of these 3 women and Chauncey as well. I had my suspicions on who the baby's father was, never expected the outcome from that mystery but it wasn't far fetched. This story emphasized the hurt you can experience while in love and the choices you are faced with as a result. It also shows how vidictive men and women can be towards one another. Matters of the heart are not to be played with, you just might hurt the wrong one! I'd definitely recommend this book, it was a really good read (listen).

This is the second time I read this book, and it still had me on the edge of my seat, thank you Sasha Campbell, it was better the second time around.
This was one of the first books I'd purchased nearly two decades ago but never really finished it to find out the plot line because I'd gotten wrapped up in Teri Woods' True To The Game series-(when IT WAS NOT MADE INTO A STRAIGHT-TO-DVD FLICK & WORTH READING, THAT IS!). Just unpacked this from my 'Books box' after relocating to my new crib, & thought back on when I used to roam around BORDERS BOOKSTORE looking for good books to add to my THEN-MEASLY Collection. Hmm. GOOD TIMES WBT! I still don't recall the plot. But maybe for this review, where I usually give a RECAP INSTEAD OF A REVIEW, that just might be a good thing that I can't bring to my recollection the plot of this book!
Wow! What an awesome read! I enjoyed the characters in the book! I think Candace was my favorite tho, although, I kinda wished she had given Chauncey a chance to explain, but I get it! Tiffany was just doing too much after she was hurt! Smh Noelle really Loved her family to put up with what she did! I applaud her. I really think all who reads this book will enjoy it. This is a book I will recommend to others!
This was a very good book I love the way the author wrote it Kimball and Tiffany relationship wow I didn't expect that to happen to Tiffany I feel bad for her I wish she found out about Kimball before she gave her virginity up to him also a Grant and Noelle didn't expect that either lots going on there too I thought the baby belong to Grant and I'm so glad It didn't and Candace and Chauncey I he would have told Candace this information before he decides to sleep with her
I needed a dose of urban fiction. It was a really quick read. I felt bad for Tiffany. She was a virgin until 27 and a set of events cause her to lose this status. She never made it up the aisle to meet her intended. Candace was cool. Her man was a typical B-boy. Noelle was th Boss but a tattered marriage with some infidelity issues were tough to overcome. Chauncey was funny as hell. It was what I expected.
While this book had over three hundred pages, I read it in one setting. There was so much going on that I couldn’t tear myself from the pages. I gasped, I laughed and I cried with the characters as their lives got turned upside down.
The author introduced a host of characters that you could easily love and hate. That to me deserved the five flower rating because the book kept me turning pages trying to see who and what was going to blow up next. While I am one to turn down a book that’s filled with too much hood BS, I do enjoy the ones that don’t always focus on drugs and coming up in the game.
I loved Noelle’s drama the most. Her problems had her wanting to kick ass and take names later. Someone left, yes left a baby on her doorstep. Now the average women would be like WTF, but since Noelle really wanted another baby (which her husband promptly said hell no to), she’s thrilled to look after this one. She’s sure that the baby is family, but she just can’t decide if it’s her grandchild or her stepchild.
And then her best friend’s bombshell really took the cake. WOW. I wanted to reach through the pages and beat her senseless for what she did. There are invisible lines that no friend should ever cross and this was one of them. While searching for her stepchild/grandchild’s mother, Noelle accidently finds out whom her friend has been creeping around with and it’s not a happy revelation.
Tiffany, another one of the main characters, was a simple hot mess. She’s one of those friends that you really want to get a clue. How does a woman that’s saving herself for marriage give up the goodies DAYS before the wedding hoping to keep him committed and faithful? Really how does that work? Only to be made a fool of and dumped on the eve of the wedding? Common sense should have told her that if she already had doubts in her mind, he wasn’t worth it. Especially after the news she got from Tiffany. But I guess a fool in love accepts all her man’s flaws even if it’s a long ass list of them.
Candy’s life wasn’t as dramatic as the other ladies, but she did have her baby daddy issues. After trying to do the right thing by giving out confidential info, she did lose her job. But whatever the circumstances, it opened the door to finding a better one. And as far as her relationship with Chauncey, I thought he was a keeper. And not because he could do the hell out of a pedicure, but because he really was a nice guy. Although he didn’t lie to her, he wasn’t honest with her either. He had all opportunities to tell her the truth about himself before everything blew up. In the end, everything worked out.
Overall let me just say that the book kept my attention until the last page. I loved the story and Sasha Campbell is an author that I will look forward to reading more of.

Tiffany is a hair stylist at Situations. She is desperately trying to hold on to her virginity. She has strong beliefs and lately they are tested. Tiffany struggles with the love she has for her fiancé and her morals and values. She relies a lot on her best friend, Candace, for advice and guidance but Candace has different beliefs than that of herself.
Candace is a single mother of a little girl. She has been Tiffany's best friend for as long as she can remember. Candace is ready to make changes in her life. Chauncey also works at Situations. He is known for his outstanding pedicures, his fine looks, and his silky tongue. Although he has looks, women, and money in his pocket, it's not enough for him. He's looking to settle down and have a family of his own. He didn't have a family growing up. Will he have one now?
This is the first book that I have had the opportunity to read by Sasha Campbell. "Suspicions" was a great read and definitely deserved five stars. Sasha Campbell did a fantastic job keeping readers drawn toward each of her characters. She brought you right into their emotions and made you feel each situation. One minute Sasha will have you laughing and the next minute she will have you near tears. "Suspicions" has twists and turns that will keep readers wanting to read. With the turn of each page, drama unfolds. There are lies, greed, lust, betrayal, loyalty, laughter, tears and more is all in this read. I definitely will be purchasing another book by this author.
The place for beauty treatments at Situations with everyday problems of women and one man that takes life by the horns and make the book a page turner. With all the different personalities jumping out, attitudes, interests, behavioral patterns along with emotional responses, as the end came to a close I see why the title is Suspicions. This read is certainly different from anything I’ve read in a long time.
Noelle is the owner of Situations, along with been a wife and mother that entwine around her busy life style, until she realize that she haven’t been giving her husband the attention he needs to keep him happy. Reaping the benefits of been the owner is so lovely to her because she has decided to take off on a long vacation, just the two. Before they can set sail there’s a baby left on the door step that brings suspicions across the board for them to figure out whose has fathered this baby. Noelle has the physical strength needed to make it out of the pouring rain, her husband thought she could easily be broken but she showed him.
Tiffany is an employee at Situations and is engaged to this guy that has two faces and a lot of arms. It’s not often known for a lady of her age to still have their virginity, but she one of a kind. She was raise to respect herself and the man she kept company with. What Tiffany doesn’t know is just the tip of the iceberg to be faced with something difficult as the man she loves shows his true colors.
You find Candace coming in Situations very often for that beauty treatment with her drama about her daughter baby daddy. Candace works at a free clinic, so all the sexual transmitted diseases in Chicago is known by Candace and she kept it under wraps until one of her girls man file is disclose with something of a secret, while doing a little overtime. Patient privacy is the law but Candace friendship is more important to her, she raises very pertinent objections to the plan.
Need of a pedicure at Situations you just don’t go to anyone, it’s Chauncey that has been hired by Noelle with the magic touch that has all the ladies in a line for there special needs, not to mention his looks that gives him tips to triple his pay for the days. He enjoys his work in many different ways that leads one woman to turn into a stocker of no return. After all the women that he has laid down with didn’t mean anything, one day he gets a taste of a women that turns his head and makes him confess the love. The player that he once was has to put his cards away and pawl down to this lady foot.
Those that work for and are associated with the beauty salon Situations don’t need to come to work for drama. Their personal lives are full of it. Noelle, the Chicago’s salon owner, may be having a midlife crisis of sorts. With her only child away at college, a pregnant bff, and a slight distancing wedge between her and her husband, Noelle thinks that a baby may be the answer. Or is a baby the question instead after an infant is dropped off on her front porch, with a striking resemblance to her husband and son. It’s clear that the baby is related, but who is the daddy?
Tiffany, a stylist, is lucky that she doesn’t have the men problems that some of her clients do. Her fiancé, an ex football player, has got it going on. And most importantly, he respects Tiffany’s wishes to remain a virgin until they are married. She’s got a good man. Is he too good to be true?
Candace, Tiffany’s best friend, is a struggling single mother with a penchant for thugs. She is determined not to go down a dead end road again with another man that means her no good. But will that determination keep her from seeing a good man right beneath her nose?
The ladies love Chauncey, and Chauncey loves the ladies. With a job most men would love to have, he spends his days between women’s legs. He’s a pedicurist. But he’s also a man with a past. Is he ready for this past and present to collide?
With plenty of drama, lies, and secrets, SUSPICIONS has all of the elements to be all that and then some but…something is missing. The book reminded me of a puzzle with forced pieces as some things just didn’t fit quite right. There’s a complete picture, but upon a closer inspection, it’s slightly flawed. Those ‘forced pieces’ proved as a distraction for me. Had that not been the case, with the drama, twists and turns, this really could have been an explosive novel. That said, I’d still recommend SUSPICIONS for anyone looking for a quick and entertaining read.
Suspicions - an apt title for a novel about the lives of three women and the men in their lives.
Noelle - wife to an unfaithful husband and mother to a spoilt son who won't take responsibility when he had knocked up his mother's best friend. Betrayed by her husband's affair and her friend's cougar relationship with her son, Noelle's journey to forgiveness was assisted by a little girl left on her porch.
Tiffany - engaged to a guy whom she thought was the man of her dream but turned out to be an unfaithful jerk and a thief with Herpes (eewwe!!!). Him showing his true self on the night b4 the wedding was the best thing that could've happened to her - it actually took a beating and sometime later for her to realize that she should wake up from her la la dreamland n move on. Easier said than done according to her. Her revenge mission was even more hilarious!!
Candace - daughter of a preacher and was knocked up by a thug ended up being single mother. Her true love turned out to be less of a knight in shinning armor but one with a sex offense conviction.
Enjoyable throughout from beginning to end. Forgiveness n second chances don't always come along so when it does, from the story, one should always take up on that opportunity!!
Sasha Campbell's Suspicions is a drama filled novel that revolves around three women and the men in their lives. The novel is an easy and quick read, and the author's twists and turns drive the plot and leaves the reader wanting more. In other words, it is a bit difficult trying to find a stopping point, especially once the reader is halfway through the novel.
While I enjoyed the story, there were moments that didn't seem realistic to me. For instance, Noelle was adamant that the baby girl left in her porch was her granddaughter, so she immediately launched into "grandma mode." Maybe that works for some, but it just didn't seem realistic to me. Also, there are some editing issues throughout the novel that caught my attention, such as misplaced commas, wrong word usage, etc.
Overall, Suspicions is a great little novel that hooks the reader and reels them in to the story and its characters.
Situations , the hottest salon in Chicago holds more than salon chatter its the direct line into the lives of her employees and clients
Noelle Finds herself in a weird situation when she finds a baby on her back porch. Racking her brain trying to figure out how the baby got there, she notice a family trait wheels start turning when she notice that the father could be her son or her husband but the question is Who does she belong to?
Tiffany has been taught morals since the beginning of time,Save yourself until marriage. When she meet the man of her dreams Kimble she on on the ride of her life. How could the happiest day of her her life also be her last.
Candance a hard working single mother has given up on love. But could a day at the Salon change her life forever.
I loved this book from the time I started reading it. The characters emotions where so strong I felt each of their pain. If I could give this book 10 Stars. Will be reading more from this Author!!!!!!!!!!
Sasha Campbell’s literature mysteriously intrigues those who love romance. This novel tells the story of three professional women, Noelle, Candace, and Tiffany. Noelle is a businesswoman, wife of an unfaithful man, grandmother of an abandoned granddaughter, and grandmother of a grandson born to her Cougar best friend! Noelle’s life has enough drama for her own novel; yet Campbell wets the reader’s appetite a bit more. Candace has a thug baby daddy and a pedophile for a boyfriend while Tiffany is engaged to a thief with an STD! Through tears and betrayal, the women do end up happier than they started. The plots in the novel are not new to the avid modern reader and they do relate to real life. As Campbell grows, she can rise above other authors with her talent.
I really liked this book. From the 4 different points of views and story lines, it def kept me entertained. Most of the things were obvious, and I thought I knew exactly what was going to happen, but I was proven wrong, and shocked at the many mini twists to the story. I think that's what made the book that more enjoyable to read. Yes, at times the characters felt over the top but it added to the drama and was the reason why I continued to read and finish the book. To me, Noelle's story was probably the most boring but interesting at the same time, compared to the other characters, because you pretty much knew the end game for the other characters, again obvious. But it was Noelle's story of her and her little family that had me saying, WTF*ck! Overall, good read.
I received this free from the publisher(thank you!) and I am just getting started.so far,I like it. Okay, I read the book, and I did enjoy it.It has a cast of characters, women, and the women each have their story.Noelle Gordan owns a beauty salon on the south side of Chicago. She has a direct line into the private lives of her clients. An Abandoned baby is dropped on her doorstep and Gordan is written on a paper.Does this baby belong to her husband or her son? And then we read about Noell'es employees and their secrets and relationships. A pretty good read.
I really enjoyed this book. I couldn't put it down. a few moments I found myself laughing out loud... or even feeling bad for the characters. They came to life to me. This was a good read. There were a few predictable moments but more surprises! Even the moments that were predictable I didn't know exactly how it was going to play out...I just saw it coming.
I love when an author can keep me guessing..because that keeps it interesting.
Loved the book! Loved the characters! Loved being able to relate to some of them, or knowing someone who faced similar things.
Every cliched plot line imaginable showed up in this book! Every. Single. One. The writing was flawed. Sentence structure was a mere notion and subject-verb agreement was optional.
If one more cinnamon mocha chocolate honey dipped character with almond eyes had showed up in this book I probably would've stopped reading and headed to Starbucks! All of the food/flavors as adjectives made me want a latte!
I received this book from the publisher through First Reads. I really liked this book. The book follows four characters, their lives and the situations they go through. I didn't lose interest and it was interesting right up to the end. The editing was decent as well, which makes for an easier read. I would definitely read another book by this author, thanks for giving me the opportunity to read this one.
This writer is talented! This book left me unable to breathe at times. The character Noelle Gordon is fascinating and determined as she takes on the task of finding out who an abandoned baby belongs to.
The bad thing is, does she really want to know or should she have left well enough alone? This is a fantastic drama that you will absolutely love!
