Amazon Awakening
Rey Peralta is on a mission to convince Paola Lopes to return to her family’s plantation in Brazil and take over responsibility for a very secret legacy. "Amazon Awakening" is book two in the "Dark Seduction" by Caridad Pineiro, which was a great read. Paola hasn't seen her dad's side of the family since she was little, and Rey shows up to see if Paola will accompany him back to Brazil. Her paternal grandmother is asking about Paola and thinks it's time she takes over their family business and responsibilities. I really liked this story by Caridad and felt she did an amazing job telling it. I fell in love with the characters right at the start. The chemistry between Paola and Rey was off the charts scorching hot. I can't wait to read the third book in the series.

Paola Lopes is an attorney in New York that lately has not been satisfied with her life and work. She feels like something is missing she just isn’t sure what that something is. She has also been thinking about her father’s family that she has never really known. When Rey Peralta first walks into her office she isn’t sure what to thing of the sexy man. When he first mentions her grandmother though she is instantly wary about just what he wants from her and if she is going to be able to do what he asks of her.
Rey Peralta has been running the Lopes family business for years. Now Patricia Lopes the matriarch of the family wants him to go get her granddaughter in New York and bring her to the family plantation. Once Rey meets Paola the instant connection he feels with her tells him that there is going to be a lot more between them than just her families business. First though he is going to have to convince her that she needs to go and meet her grandmother.
As soon as Paola gets to the family plantation she knows there is a lot more going on than she was first told. She has to figure out what is going on and find out the truth about the family legacy and if she is up to doing what her grandmother is asking of her. For to do what her grandmother wants is to leave behind the life and career she has spent building. Paola is going to have to decide just what she wants in her life and just what she is willing to give up. Giving up the legacy will also mean losing Rey and she is not sure that is something she really wants to do.
This is a very well written story that gives the readers plenty of twists so that they will hate to put this one down. The world comes alive as the reader learns more and gets more into the story. The words give life to the sights and sounds that the characters see and hear. Part of the story is in the Amazon and reading about the area makes it really come to life and is almost a character by itself. This is one book to pick up and read and as it is a novella it is also a very quick, satisfying read.

AMAZON AWAKENING by Caridad Pinero is an interesting and exciting erotic paranormal romance set in the Amazon Rain Forest. It is full of hot sex,romance,love,mysticism,steamy sexual tension,secrets,and yes an alternate dimension.It is the story of Paola,a New York lawyer, who knows nothing of her heritage. And Rey,a handsome,sexy, Guardian of the Amazon Rain Forest who has been sent to New York to gather and take Paola to her grandmother,the Priestess of the Amazon Rain Forest. If you enjoy a fast paced story with hot steamy sex and a walk through a Garden of Eden type of alternate dimension than "Amazon Awakening" is the story for you with a bit of mystery.This is a short story that will grab your attention from the first sentence. "Amazon Awakening" is Ms. Pinero's first attempt to write an erotic paranormal romance,and I hope this series will continue. I would love to see Rey and Paola as they grow with their attraction,Paola's learns her role as a Guardian,and we find why so much tention with another Guradian family. A must read for anyone who enjoys mysticism,Amazon Rain Forest,Guardians,a bit of legend,alot of hot,steam sex,a bit of romance,family secrets,and heritage."Amazon Awakening" will appeal to any erotic,paranormal,romance readers who also enjoy a twist of fate. Paola is a successful lawyer in NY and has put behind her the past and her fathers' family. She doesn't know much about her heritage but when sexy Rey shows up to bring her back to the Amazon to see her grandmother before she dies, she gets a bit more than she bargained for.As it turns out Paola is a Guardian and her future will soon be to protect a secret realm. This has been her family's job for centuries and it's now her turn.
And if in the process of coming to terms with all that she manages to catch a very sexy shifter then who can blame her? Rey is a sweet alpha and is completely smitten with Paola.
Now she has to make a big decision. Does she stay and fulfill her role or go back home to New York and her old life and continue on as if she never found out about her family?
I loved the setting of this book and the story was interesting enough, I think it was pretty good for a short story. And of course a girl that drinks cachaça is a girl after my own heart!

I have read a couple of things by Caridad Pineiro and it never fails to amaze me how unique her stories are. This one is no different.
Paola is a lawyer in New York. She has a great career and the possibility for advance. She feels she is content with this until recently she started to feel like something was missing. Then Rey shows up trying to talk her into returning to her family's home in Brazil. She decides to go visit her grandmother for a short time, until she gets there, and everything changes.
I loved the story line. It was so incredibly unique that I couldn't help but get sucked into it. Both characters were well developed and I liked them. The smexin was smokin hot and will definitely melt your panties. I thought the story flowed well and Ms Piniero has a way of describing things so you can picture them perfectly. This story read like a short story therefore is seemed to move kind of quickly but during the story she made reference to that and explained that there was a natural pull and comfort that the characters felt while together. That, to me, makes the fast speed seem real and make sense. If you are looking for a hot, unique, short story that will suck you in, this is the story for you.

I liked it...
And the characters. I wish there was more to it but it's a novella. I'm glad there was not a cliffhanger like some books. I hope there is more to the story. I am again looking for more by this author.
