Forbidden Surrender - [The Contract]

Rate this book
"What gives you a thrill Kristen?"

The minute I saw Vincent Sorenson, I knew he was trouble. Billionaire. Bad boy. And dangerously sexy. He was everything I craved, and nothing I needed.

Unfortunately, I couldn't just avoid him. The higher ups at my company decided they needed his business, and I was on the team to bring him in. Vincent Sorenson didn't seem as interested in business as he was in me, but I knew that was a door better left unopened. If I got involved with him, it would only unearth the pain I spent years trying to bury.

I thought I had it under control, but I seriously underestimated Vincent's seductive charm and silver-tongue. I would soon find out how delicious it would feel to let myself fall into this forbidden surrender.

This is not a standalone book, it is an extended teaser Forbidden Surrender (The Forever Series).

I long suspected this would gag worthy and I was right. The narrative reads like a diary entry. The heroine gets all indignant about her boss's chauvinistic attitude but is almost comically over sexed every time she sees this dude. Home boy is a creep. Just because a woman is attracted to you doesn't give you the right to touch her or force contact when she's saying no. It's extra douchey to use hold your ability to help her career over her head to influence her on a personal level. Ick

Interesting teaser.

While I generally try to avoid short teaser books this one was different, it was a teaser for a series but the series consists of good length, reasonably priced books and not the very short expensive ones as is so often the case, plus the books are already out so there's no waiting which is good since I'm not known for my patience.
I enjoyed this book, it goes as expected there's no surprises but then it's the characters, the edge mystery and the sexual tension which make a book like this work and I was intrigued enough to continue on with this series.
Kristen finds herself in the fortunate position of flying to Cape Town with her boss Richard to hopefully sign a new billion dollar client, Vincent, the only problem is Richard is a bit of an ass and it's hard to imagine how he reached, let alone maintains his position in Waterbridge-Howser but then I suppose nearly every firm has a 'Richard' so that answers that.
The attraction between Kristen and Vincent is instant and the first time they meet it almost takes her breath away.
While this teaser holds nothing new it worked for me I want to find out what happens between Kristen and Vincent.
I'm giving 3 stars partly due to the length and also because it is after all just a taste so it seems unfair to give more.

The first book in the series was good. I hated the ex and how he's returned but I knew something had to happen. Vincent definitely seems like a catch and honestly they work well together. I like how Kristen played hard to get. It’s one of the tropes I like to read.

A day after finishing this book and I still don't know how I put my thoughts in line. Although it is a short teaser story, without a cliffhanger but with an abrupt end, it still feels like something missing. I truly don't used to read teasers like this before tho!

Priscilla has written an interesting, almost intense, love story between Kristen, an analyst for wealth management firm and Vincent, a new found, young, billion dollar guy her firm wants to have as their client.

For start I want to clear why I find the story almost intense. In my opinion, when a story is intense it has to start, and ends, with an intrique plot, smart conversations and a notorious description of a hot male whom women drop dead on his sight, not to mention the sex scenes! So, the story has few gaps but...only in the beginning of it.

It starts with Kristen's first transatlantic voyage at Cape Town, for a business trip with her supervisor at work and her roommate, to close a deal with a billion dollar guy who created his empire alone and now he needs a firm to manage his wealth. The story flows easily, little bit with boring inside monologes which doesn't helped me to understand Kristen's character as I counter to have and the first chapter ended too soon to make me enjoy her first meeting with Vincent. I didn't have my first full forse impact of Vincent's personal sovereignty in space, either. I realy wanted more than what I read!!

After the first four chapters, I start to like much more the way the story was going to because conversations where more interesting then, the plot started to be more hotter and Priscilla finally showed clearly Vincent's advantages without hesitation. Finally!!!

We read about billioner all the time and Vincent is one of them...of course! He is a self-made, wealthy as Croesus, gorgeous guy who loves extremes sports and risky activities. He is the epitome of beauty wearing a hand-made suit or wearing nothing but a pair of boardshorts walking at the beach. So much for imagination!!! What I like most on him was his natural behavior. Although he was a billioner, he knew everything about financial management and he was seriously informed about his company employees and how responsible he had to be for them. So down to earth and these guys are totally my favorite.

Before the story reached the end, I was finally satisfied with the plot and the way the characters started to open up and showed their emotions without forse. Priscilla's writing skills were now obvious and welcome and I can't wait to read the other two, which are published too so I don't have to wait at all, plus I wish I would read more sex scenes at the next two because this teaser was a little ungenerous. I'm not a nymph but if I'm going to read that kind of stories I want it all!

Even if I was provided with a free copy of this book from the author, so I could give an honest review, I truly recommending it to read it. It's a new author, a good one and she deserves our support.

So, hope you enjoy reading this book too.

I can basically sum up Forbidden Surrender in one word or one sound actually… “Mmmmmmmm.” Where do I find one just like that for myself?

The Surrender series of three stories tells Vincent and Kristen’s tale. These three novels have been released for some time now, but time does not change a moment of the sexiness, loving tease of their story. This first one is short, but packs a powerful sexual and storyline punch.

Vincent was wealthy. Very wealthy. He was also intelligent, educated, elegant and hot as sin. He began as a surfer, more surfer than engineer according to his professors – but he did invent a camera that changed extreme sports for many of its most dedicated followers. Although he still surfs and enjoys that lifestyle when he can – he is far from your average surfer dude. Yet because of his fit, blonde good looks, some people are foolish enough to see the surfer dude when they should be seeing the billionaire. You don’t become a self-made billionaire by being stupid.

Kristen was part of the team assigned to bring in his account to the wealth management company she worked for. She had done most of the research and charts regarding how they could best advise him on the management of his money. She and Richard, her superior on this team had traveled to South Africa to meet with Vincent. Unfortunately, Richard tried to play up the surfer dude instead of the intelligent man during their meeting. Kristen was stunned by Vincent’s sheer sexiness and practically fell into his lap. Yet, she was able to save some part of the meeting. But it didn’t look good at all.

What soon became clear was Vincent’s interest in her and he would sign with their company on one condition…

If you haven’t had the pleasure of reading Forbidden Surrender yet, I would highly recommend you go out and fix that oversight very soon. You will find a fast paced, intense, flirty, sensuous beginning to a couple’s relationship. Remember, this is a three book series all about Kristen and Vincent. While the first novel doesn’t end strictly on a cliffhanger, it does end abruptly. You’ll want to find out what happens next, just as I did. Indulge yourself in a sexy story that will hopefully lead to a love story for our couple – we’ll just have to read the next novel to find out.

*I received an e-ARC of Forbidden Surrender from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*

I will just tell you first off, I fell in love with this book. It didn't try to make me believe in Cinderella and a Prince. I have seen things like this happen in real life. Destiny will not be denied.

Second, Priscilla West's writing is detailed and never will you have to stop and say, 'huh?' She writes true to form and I enjoy that in a good read.

Third, yes this is a romance, with darkness looming. My mind is spinning of all the ways she could take this series. This is the first of a three book series. I also like that if you wanted to end here, you can. I am impressed, very impressed.

Vincent Sorenson is a billionaire, dark features, to die for smile who loves thrill seeking activities. He loves surfing. He developed a product that took off on the markets. His wealth is accumulated from his managing his finances. This all happened in two years! He is frequently flying to other countries, which left him with no urge to have a relationship. He is very nice and is an adept business professional. Is there anything lurking in his past?

Waterbridge-Howser is a money management firm that Richard Hamm and Kristen Daley work for. Richard is in management and Kristen was promoted 6 months ago to Analyst. Richard secures the accounts, and Kristen makes him look good with the research and preparing of materials. They both meet Vincent. Kristen is a bobbling mess, to the point she falls against his chest and squeezes his nipple, which has a ring. The sparks between the two start flying. Vincent goes with their company on the stipulation that Kristen only handles his account. You will read more in the book about the two. As you will learn more about Kristen's guard. Why so high? Again, could she have a secret she is hiding?

This is a great read. You will also meet Kristen's best friend and rookie since college, Riley. They mesh well. They bring out the best in each other. Makes you wish she was your best friend! Then, one day, a man shows up at the door asking for Kristen? Who is it?

Go read the book. It isn't long and boring. If you cannot get into Vincent's Adonis eyes, hair with locks........go read!!!! Enjoy! Oh, and guys, Kristen is described as hot! Go get her!

Forbidden Surrender (The Forever Series) by Priscilla West
Reviewed by Klaire Sutherland (****stars)

I've seen these books advertised all over fb recently, got myself the teasers but didn't get around to reading them, when the girls asked me to review I thought hell yeah. First off, read all three together. One after the other and to be honest I think this story would have been better packaged as a complete book rather than in three parts. It contains a soft cliffhanger at the end, but the book in itself leaves you with a very dissatisfied feeling. You feel like you are just getting into something towards the end. I found the first part of the book to be clichéd and unoriginal yet somehow still a good read. The language was what I would expect from this author. Character development comes slowly but surely and I guess this is what book one is doing - introducing you to characters and plots.
Kristen and Vincent's story begins with a business meeting that goes wrong from the offset. He appears to be the pushy playboy, adrenaline junkie billionaire whilst Kristen is the sensible, work is my everything, kind of girl. I think the only originality to this plot so far is the fact that extreme sports is involved. It's quite apparent that there's a chemistry there that neither can ignore, and while he's pushing, Kristen is pulling and trying her darnest not to become involved.
As a reader we are pulled through the angst between them, the dates (which are again clichéd and a little uninspiring) and the getting to know each other. Their affair begins and that is your lot really. There are references to an ex, but you get the feeling that what she is running from isn't all that terrible. You get the work situation that she is in and there's plenty reference to her relationship with her best friend.
Didn't altogether capture my imagination as anything different but I still wanted to read it, and I was definitely curious for book 2 when finished. I would rate this quick read at probably 3.5 but as they don't do halves - a 4

This was a fantastically sexy read & makes me want to go to Austrailia to run into my millionaire opportunity. Kristen Daley, a finance manager for Waterbridge-Howser is just intelligent enough & human enough to be believable in this story. I'm happy that Priscilla made her a bit clumsy so that it would appeal to greater range of women. It definitely makes her seem like a "girl next door" sort of gal. Vincent Sorenson sounds so much like the embellished go-pro creator, that it's eery.....but what a delicious package she has delivered him in!

I will admit to this book having a very similar feel to the Shades of Grey series, but for some reason, it seems a bit better....perhaps mainly because I like the female character a bit more than Anastasia from the Shades of Grey series.
Eat your heart out Shades of Grey fans.....so far this one is turning out more delicious than Grey himself.......can't wait to find out his secret.

Keep in mind for those of you starting this series that this book is pretty short and ends in a bit of a weird spot....but I don't even care, cause I want to read what happens next!

I will attempt not to post spoilers but there is always the chance one slips in.

Now, as this story starts it has a great description and amazing chemistry between the two mains. The only real issue I have is it is a short story and it ends on a "cliff hanger" While the author does state this is a teaser and she adds other teasers into this book it was still a disappointment. But over all well worth it, as it does give you a sense of the authors writing style and her way with words. Those words will drawl you into the story and demand you read till the end.

If this was longer and without the cliff hanger I would be more then happy to give it 5 plus stars but cause of those items, it only earns 3.

I absolutely love books like this! I can't say too much without giving anything away, but if you like hot, steamy reads with some suspenseful events thrown in, then you will love this book! Kristen is a financial analyst who has just landed a new client--a hot new client that pursues her outside of the professional arena nonstop. Even though her best friend pushes her to go for it, Kristen is highly against mixing business with pleasure. Just as she makes a decision, something from her past surfaces and she has to decide what to do. I'm going straight for the second part of this series!

Loved Vincent and Kristen. This book was just a peak into their relationship. Can't wait to find out what happens with Marty. There's a bit of mystery to Kristen's past and a lot of sexual tension with Vincent and Kristen. It was a quick read but enough to get me interested in reading more.

This was my introduction to the writings of Priscilla West. The Contract was very good. Novellas are never long enough. Kristen knew she was in trouble when she met Vincent. Playing it safe was never fun so she was all in. This was a great teaser.

Typical but without the details of a good story. Book 3 was the best in the series for sure. Book 1 was the worst. It's a 3 book series. Get through book 1 and the other 2 aren't bad. Too much sex and not enough story behind it in my opinion.
