Honestly, this book felt like an LJ Shen story — a wild rollercoaster of angst, cruelty, and raw vulgarity intertwined with surprisingly sweet and heartfelt moments from the characters' points of view. The story unfolds through multiple perspectives, which caught me off guard since it wasn’t mentioned in the summary. While that added some depth to the side plots, I found myself mostly uninterested in them, craving more focus on James, June, and William. The narrative is bogged down with unnecessary details about trivial matters, leaving key plot points underdeveloped until the final 10 chapters. Until then, it felt like just filler. As it stands, this book could serve as a solid outline for a story that delves much deeper into the characters’ backgrounds — but sadly, it doesn’t quite get there. Given that it’s part of a series, it makes sense that this first installment leaves a lot unresolved, stretching across 415 pages of unfinished business.
I honestly can’t tell if this was supposed to be a romance book, even worse was this an attempt at enemies to lovers? The enemies part is there but there is zero chemistry, yearning or even flirting. Don’t get me started on, what I guess you would call, the banter. It was hard to read the way he talked to her and treated her and what did she have to say about him other than he was hot.
So rare is it when movie is much better considering the only things they shared were the main character names. Smart choice
⭐️⭐️ 2.5 stars ⭐️⭐️ I am honestly not sure I read the full book or not, since I read this on wattpad because it's free, lol... The only reason I read this book is because I watched the movie, and the movie honestly wasn't even good, but I was curious to see how the book would be... Let's just say the book was out there. Lots and lots of drama and the spice was ridiculous! The romance didn't even feel like romance... I don't really have much else to say... but I would like to know if the full book was on wattpad, so I can know if I actually finished it or not!
After reading the book I feel strongly that more of the scenes in the book should have been included. I think that blazes relationship with Jackson is completely irrelevant to the story and should taken out. Junes mom acts completely different than in the movie and think they should have stuck with the book character. James in this book feels like the leader of a SEC Frat house. I could barely get through some of the chapters taking his personal life, the rich play boy trope needs to be reevaluated by everyone reads it and writes it. It feels very repetitive and boring and almost overused. I also feel that the love triangle is completely useless and honestly makes me want to put the book down as Will is a worse person than James (hot take). Even though u strongly disliked how much time I wasted on this book I will still read the next one. I am excited for the new movie to come out but also not looking for are to suffering through reading the same plot over and over again.
Amazing book — completely different from the movie. This isn’t a love triangle at all, but a slow-burn romance that unfolds gradually, carefully, and with real emotional depth between June and James.
She may seem like the classic “good girl,” and he fits the “bad boy” stereotype — but the beauty of the story is that they’re both fully aware of those labels. They recognize the roles they play. They even question them. Yet at the same time, they’re afraid — afraid of change, afraid of stepping outside what feels safe and familiar.
The tension between them is electric, and what makes it so compelling is that it builds steadily throughout the entire story. They don’t fall in love instantly. There’s no rushed confession, no sudden shift. Instead, the connection simmers — layered, restrained, and charged — growing stronger with every interaction.
It’s thoughtful, intense, and emotionally earned. A romance that takes its time — and is all the more powerful because of it.
I don't know why the books with douche-hole male protagonists go viral. James is a wanna-be-bad-boy-misunderstood-vulgar-douche-hole-fuckwad. There. I said it. His character isn't redeemable. I cannot stand the way he talks to her. There's nothing BAD about this "bad boy," except if you count that the word FUCK is one of the five in his vocabulary. ZERO chemistry between any of the characters.
I can't tell why the characters even like each other, becuase I don't know enough about them to actually care about them. I can't with these books. These boys lack boundaries, June is stoopit, probably has low self-esteem which explains why she likes James. The lack of plot is predictable. The book is a combination of After, Through My Window, Fifty Shades, 365 Days.
The book is stoopit. But I had a laugh reading it.
I’m giving myself a pass and transferring my credit of *watching* the movie into acting as if I actually read the book. Which I will not. Cuz what the fuck. But I needed to write a review sOmeWhEre!! (So I’m marking it as DNF bc it feels right).
Cringe all around. The actors, the acting, the accents, the succession of interactions and events. Just no.
And apparently 400 pages? Over my dead body. There was not one sex scene. And the premise of “ooh she can ride a motorcycle” gave Noah vibes from “My Fault” with the whole race-car thing.
The only part I enjoyed about this movie was hour 1 minute 32. Obviously it’s THE VERY END and it’s because the mmc could’ve died.
I don't have much to say about this book. I started reading it after watching the movie, which I enjoyed. Surprisingly, it has almost nothing to do with the book.
I didn't like the several points of view; it made it confusing and difficult to focus on the main characters. The love triangle is insufferable. The way everyone treats each other doesn't even make sense or help the plot. Most of the time they are rude for no reason. I usually love enemies to lovers, but June and James's banter felt like violence for its own sake.
I'm looking forward to the next part of the story in the movies, but I don't think I will try to keep reading the second book.
Woaw!
No tengo personaje favorito.
This book had too many details of things that didn’t matter and really didn’t get into the relationship of the “main characters” and the resolution until the last 10 chapters or so. I wanted to like it since it was so hyped with the show being released on Prime Video. I’m not sure exactly what it was, but I just didn’t love it or the writing style, as much as I tried to.
The majority of the book honestly is the author just building up the hatred between James and June and the plot of the movie is more near the end. But all that cyber bullying anonymous stuff doesn’t happen. So interesting Hm
Anyway the English translation to the second book comes out on Tuesday. Ordering it now.
Worst book I read this year. I decided to read it after I watched the movie because I actually really enjoyed the movie, but this was nothing like the movie at all. It was a completely different story. I’m not even gonna bother reading the second one because it was a struggle to even get through this one
This book had multiple POVs, love triangles, and lots of drama (which (to me) felt a bit overdone at times). The abundance of side POVs took away from the main storyline and romantic chemistry, however, it was sharply written! If you like love triangles, you may like this read.

Too many story lines/ POVs for me. Enemies never turned lovers.
I was hoping the book would go deeper into June building trust with Jasper and possibly dive more into James’ backstory. But the whole story was just rich unsupervised, high school kids with substance abuse issues.
É diventato il mio libro (e poi serie) preferito in pochissimo, mi sono affezionata subito ai personaggi e alla storia, è coinvolgente ma la scrittura lenta a volte può essere pesante.
wanted to read after watching the movie but only a small amount of scenes are actually in the movie. The multiple pov felt boring, wanted more of June and James.

this book is sooo watpad! watched the movie and needed to know how the series goes but now need to wait for the english translation. The book is terrible but i will be reading the whole series.

If you love multiple POV's, love triangles, Wattpad books, dramaaa and specifically rich people drama, then this book is for youuu. Thank you to Netgalley for providing me an eARC of this book. There were two things that originally drew me to the book. 1. It's a Wattpad book, and generally I love these types of books, you know exactly what you can expect. 2. The book is being turned into a movie by none other than PRIME VIDEO! Now to my thoughts and feelings. First of all, it definitely had that typical Wattpad vibe, if you know, you know. Personally I love the vibe, but I think maybe it was a little overdone in this book. The book is translated from Italian to English and I definitely could tell at some points in the book, because either the translation just felt a bit odd or it actually did not make sense. Like something that sounds like it should be a play on words, but it doesn't make sense in English. Or the character referencing something the other character said, but they never said that. It's a bit hard to explain but if you read it you' probably get it. The characters also just seemed a little childish. Both when it comes to how they spoke and acted. They go from loving each other to hating each other and back to loving each other within a few seconds. What I usually love about Wattpad books is the chemistry between the characters and unfortunately I didn't really feel it in this book. I think the main problem was that there were too many characters and we practically got to see every single one of them's POV at some point in the book. It felt a bit unnecessary. June is definitely the main character and there are two love interests which POV I also wanted to see more, but instead I got a bunch of POV's with small side stories that just didn't really interest me. This also meant that the book was 415 pages, but even at the end it didn't feel like we got anywhere with the main story. Another thing that annoyed me a bit was that it was often hard to tell who was saying what because there was very few dialogue tags and there wasn't dont anything else to make it clear who was talking. This is just one of my pet peeves. With all that being said though... I am super excited to see the movie. I think this book has such great potential, especially in a movie format and I can't wait for it. I think the book covers some really important subjects and I think that could also be shown really well in a movie. I also loved the banter between the characters and I definitely had times where I couldn't stop myself from reading(the typical effect of Wattpad books). Overall I would recommend the book if you're able to overlook some of the writing and if you don't mind having a lot of different stories at once.
