I really enjoyed these characters and their story. And the book didn't feel too short or rushed as one might have expected. It was quite good! :)

"Shaw is a thoughtful, charming and determined character, familiar from other books in the series. The details are beautiful, and the book is well researched. Thankfully, the pace flows along much more smoothly than Shaw’s renovations, and the reader will be rooting for him to give up his bachelor status" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).

A sweet, clean romance. This story had some good characters and while it was a quick read that lends to having certain things just work out, I felt like it had depth. Shaw, a hard working man, was struggling with the past and trying to make his business profitable while helping a widowed woman and her two kids.

I had to pick this one up because there was a librarian. I wanted to see how badly stereotyped she would be, but I was pleasantly surprised. Not only did our main character, Lainie, have a masters degree in library science, she also realized how hard it was for libraries to stay relevant in today's modern world (even though it was only mentioned once). I also like that she wasn't a frumpy cardigan wearing, secret nymphomaniac. She was a young widow with two children trying to find a fresh start in a new town with a new job as a head librarian. The only unbelievable aspect was that she never read (at least not in the book, Lainie flips though the Bible only once, no other reading material is mentioned... suspicious) and she didn't own a cat.

Long story short, Lainie and her two daughters move to town and are instantly robbed. Instead of being able to buy a house and get settled she has to rely on an enemy for help. The man that is responsible for her husband's death lives in the same town and for the sake of her daughters she turns to him for help. He offers to let them stay in his huge Victorian house while she waits for her new credit cards and ID to arrive and even helps out with the groceries. Despite her best intentions, Lainie finds herself falling for this man. Shocking, I know. I won't spoil too much but you better believe there is a happy ending. Yay for librarians!

Love Inspired® books are faith-based books that are filled with wholesome stories and values, unlike so many of the romance novels that grace the store shelves today. Each book will inspire your heart and nourish your soul as they focus on faith, hope and love.

Each month six new Love Inspired® books become available both in-store and online. Buy one or buy all six, you won’t be disappointed.

Lainie Hollings, a widowed mom of 2 girls, has been robbed and in order to protect her daughters she must accept help from Shaw McKinney . Lainie and Shaw both share a hurtful past, a past neither one believes they can get over. God has different plans. Plans of forgiveness, commitment and most of all love.

I was taken to a small town of Dover where I felt I was there watching Shaw and Lainie wrestle with their personal struggles of acceptance, humility and forgiveness. There were a few times where I found myself giggling over sweet embraces between these two.

I loved the characters, even Millie. My first thought of her was that she was a snotty bitty, but by the end of the book I loved her. There were a few unexpected surprises and of course though it all I was wondering “How is this going to end?” or “What is God going to do next.”

Great Read.

Love, forgiveness, and 2 little girls...

I had all six of the May Love Inspired contemporary releases sitting in front me. All equally good books but I had to start somewhere so I chose one at random. I'm glad I picked Bachelor To The Rescue first, it's about a librarian and the Friends of the Library play a big part in some important scenes. Now, I love librarians but I am also a Friend of the Library so this book was a little extra special.

Lorraine Beatty has written a sweet romantic tale of love, forgiveness, and moving on. Tragedy binds Lainie and Shaw, circumstance brings them together. Forgiveness can mean the world to them both.

Sweet story, perfect for an evening when you want a light read with a happy ending. Read Bachelor To The Rescue to find out what happens when you mix two little girls, a willing dog, a princess club, and a guy who can't say no...

I really enjoyed this book because it took an interesting plot and ran with it. Lainie is a widow with two young daughters trying to make a fresh start. She's barely made it to the town line before trouble starts and it doesn't let up. Everything that can come against her does. The hardest thing? The man Lainie feels is responsible for her husband's death is the only one available to help her. That sets up immediate conflict and I loved that.

I also loved the conflict. As an author I've learned our job is to give each scene, each chapter an action and reaction. Keep the conflict. Raise the stakes. Bachelor to the Rescue is a great model of how this is done.

By the end of the book I felt like I knew Lainie, Shaw, the girls and the townspeople. It was a fast read and a very satisfying one. Bachelor to the Rescue belongs in your beach bag for your summer reading.

Book 5

This was another very sweet story set in Dover! As a librarian, I was happy to read a story about the formation of a new library - what a dream come true that would be for me! But I'm sorry, but I did not agree with the setting up at the library. I don't think cataloging and preparing 2,000 book (mush less thousands more) was possible in two weeks. It would take months to do such a job! I just didn't agree with the author's timing. But I loved the concept of undergoing such a task. I also saw the author have a time problem (the girls were fed two suppers once, then there were two Sundays in a row).

The story surrounding Laine and Shaw's past was very good. I liked the way this subject was approached and put to rest. The author did a very good job with this main story line. The girls were cute. The romance was believable...Overall, a great book!

Bachelor To The Rescue by Lorraine Beatty was a good book. Lainie Hollings moves to a small town with her two small girls to start over to run a library. Her purse is stolen when she first gets to town. She calls Shaw McKinney. Lainie saw his contractor card at the restaurant. She knew Shaw from before. Her dead husband use to work for him and she blames Shaw for his death. Shaw has a duplex house and lets Lainie and the two girls live there until she gets on her feet. Shaw is the contractor for the library. It's an old building. Shaw runs into a lot of problems fixing it up. Sparks happen between Lainie and Shaw, but she has bad feeling toward Shaw because of her husbands death. A lot goes on in this book. A much read.

This was a pretty good little book by Lorraine Beatty. It had a lot to do with forgiveness, and the little girls were just precious. Shaw McKinney is a great guy who has been beating himself up over an accident that happened in the past for far too long. Especially when it wasn't his fault. Lorraine, on the other hand, doesn't know the whole story and as far as she's concerned, it is his fault. When fate brings them back together they are both forced to confront the past, while dealing with the high stakes here and now.

I was disappointed in this book. Both the main characters spoke briefly about having faith but neither one actually acted as though they had any. I found both their behaviors frustrating because all they did was complain about their fears and never actually turned to the Lord with one brief instance.

Sweet story about a confirmed bachelor who falls in love with a young widow with two young girls. I loved the characters, the town, and the underlying theme of forgiveness. I'm quickly becoming a big fan of these Love Inspired romances!
