Liam

Ten years ago, I watched her ride off into the sunset with her guitar in one hand and my heart in the other. Ruby Lynn Hayes owns the stage like she was born for the spotlight. While she’s off chasing her dreams, I fall into the arms of the wrong woman trying to forget the one I never should’ve wanted in the first place.

Five years later, a little boy with eyes that match mine is left on my doorstep. From that moment on, my life revolves around my son. I vow to do everything in my power to give him the life and the family I never had.

But Ruby is like a melody that gets stuck in your head—I should’ve known I could never forget her. Now she’s back, in my life and in my home—a nanny for my son, and a danger to my heart.

Ruby

I fell for Liam Murphy when I was eighteen, sitting on a truck tailgate writing songs about a boy who set my soul on fire. Only trouble is, I wasn’t singing about my boyfriend—I was singing about his brother.

I left that small town, and the boy I adored, in the rearview, chasing sold-out shows and platinum records. I lived out every dream I ever had, but that life wasn’t everything I thought it would be.

Ten years later, I’m walking away from the label that tried to own me, driving down the backroads of my hometown searching for the the spark that’ll bring me back to life. That’s where I find Liam again. He’s a father now, and he needs my help, so I offer him what I my time, my heart, my whole life if he’ll let me.

Willa Kay’s Skylines and Sanctuaries was the best—just the best. I can’t tell you how often I clutched my heart, laughed, or even said “you tell ‘em, Ruby”.

Ruby’s character is plus-sized, and she is a popular musician who returns to her small town for a reprieve. Liam is a single dad who has been pining for her since she was his brother’s girlfriend in high school. In need of some help with his son, Ruby offers to be the nanny.

There were past flashback moments and dialogue to show what occurred and emotions that were felt. I loved seeing that as it gave a better perspective of Ruby and Liam’s friendship, Liam and his brother Connor’s relationship, and Liam and his son’s childhood trauma. It wasn’t all serious, though.

Liam’s son, Aiden, was great, and I loved Jerry, the overly dramatic bunny rabbit.
The spice scenes were outstanding. I lost count of how many things I highlighted, but I also highlighted meaningful moments between Liam and Ruby. I’m forever hooked on Willa Kay’s books.

Thank you to Author Willa Kay for the gifted e-copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I received this book as an ARC.

It features a single dad, a country musician MMC, a plus-sized FMC, and a beautiful found family dynamic.

This story was so good! Ruby has to be one of my favorite FMCs in a long time—she’s strong, has a backbone, and knows how to stand up for herself. Liam, on the other hand, pours so much into everyone around him, but struggles to let Ruby pour back into him. Their love was wholesome and heartwarming.

I also loved Liam’s friend group, which really brought the found family element to life. Every character was beautifully written.

This is a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read for me, and I highly recommend it!

ARC REVIEW!

Liam is every girls dream book boyfriend. With him being a firefighter single dad, soft only for Ruby and his son Aiden. Liam has yearned for Ruby for ten years. Supported her (secretly) her entire career.
Ruby has compared every man to Liam and still writes songs to the boy she left back at home.
When Ruby finishes her tour and comes back home to Oak Ridge, seeing Liam again and being his nanny makes them realize how perfect they are for each other.

I am obsessed with Ruby the plus sized county music star and the confidence and sparkly outfits she wears. I think she is the perfect, strong, bold FMC I have been waiting for!!

I LOVED this book. It has tension, flashbacks, great banter, and a true connection between the FMC and MMC.

Willa absolutely outdid herself with this book!
It was an amazing addition to the Oak Ridge series and I
cannot wait for the next one!

Thank you to Willa for sending me this ARC!

Skylines & Sanctuaries had me feeling many things. This book had a lot of different things going on. First in the prologue Liam finds out he has a son after his ex Breanna drops off a little boy with no information other than she’s leaving and needs Liam to take care of said son. Then we meet Ruby, who we already know from past books, who’s a country music star. Although due to many disagreements and mistreatment she decides to quit her label and moves back home to Oak Ridge. When she returns she falls back into old habits, that include Liam. Connor who is Rubys ex boyfriend is also Liam’s brother. Liam is in the market for a nanny and of course Ruby jumps at the chance to take the role. While she continues to be the “nanny” so many other things are going on. We have Aiden feeling the loss of growing up without his mom. Liam becoming a firefighter and getting seriously injured in a fire where he had to save his friends from. Ruby is getting sued by her old label so she goes to trial for that. Meanwhile Liam’s brother is angry? Maybe that Ruby is living with him. Expect not really cause he admits that he never loved her properly cause he’s actually gay. The trial ends in Ruby’s favor thankfully. Breanna shows up eventually asking to see Aiden and uses the videos and images she got of Liam and Ruby on the beach in some compromising positions to have her way. It was just a lot of different plots and they weren’t bad but it was so much going on at a time. I would have liked to see more of them in the end. They definitely kept me on my toes and there were things I adored about it but also things I wish were different. The plot twist and the end with Cara has my head spinning and I’m interested to see how that will all unfold. Side note as well. I went into this book thinking it would be extremely spicy and it was crazy enough the least spicy I think. Which is wild cause the first one was literally a long distance book. I just expected more and I was a little disappointed.

arc review for skylines and sanctuaries by willa kay 🎸💕

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

thank you to the author for giving me an arc in exchange for my honest review!

when i first met ruby in sweet escape i just KNEW i had to read her story! she’s everything i aspire to be and more. willa is a star at writing fat girl characters and to read one that is so comfortable in her own skin that she doesn’t give a shit what anyone else thinks is such a breath of fresh air.

and liam, he’s so down bad for ruby! i had been rooting for him since the beginning telling my kindle “who gives a shit if she dated your brother!!!! you and her are meant to be!!” and i loved his son so much. 🥹 the cutest little human ever and im so happy that not only did ruby and liam get their happy ending he also got a mom.

I received this book as an ARC and OMG this was my first read by Willa Kay, and I think I’m officially in love!

Liam completely stole my heart the amount of love he had for Ruby was everything. I want that kind of love in real life! Ruby was amazing too I’d totally want her as my bestie. I fell for both of them more and more with every chapter.

And can we talk about Liam’s son, Aiden? I adored him so much! And of course Jerry the dramatic bunny absolutely loved his numerous fake deaths

Oh, and the spicy scene? CHEF’S KISS!!! Willa Kay, you nailed it!

And that ending… OMG the surprise at the end?! I did not see that coming. I’m still thinking about it.

Willa Kay, you’ve officially gained a new loyal reader.

I am so grateful to have received an ARC of Skylines & Sanctuaries by Willa Kay! This was my first time reading a book by her and it will not be the last. Personally a 4☆ read. Ruby and Liam were so good for each other and their story was entertaining. A spicy small town romance, where both main characters were the right person wrong time. The tropes were so fun and the inspiration was clear but not overpowing to the story. The epilogues were everything. I can wait to see what happens next in Oak Ridge♡

Heat 🌶🌶🌶🌶

This book was an emotional roller-coaster! The pining and yearning of Liam throughout the book had butterflies in my stomach the whole time. I lost track of how many goosebumps and heart stops I experienced. Ruby is a force of a woman, her confidence, strength, and her unconditional love for Aiden perfectly represented. The tent scene.... 🥵 iykyk!

I had a feeling Aiden's mom might come back, but seriously? I wanted to reach through the book to throttle her! I loved seeing Connor's reconciliation and making amends after acknowledging what he was struggling with. I could have done without the fire scene, I didn't need a heart attack that bad! 😭

Thank you, Willa Kay, for writing another great one and allowing me to be an ARC reader.

p.s. The bonus epilogue....... WHAT THE 😲 I need more!

Spice - 🌶🌶🌶

Trope - age gap, ex's older brother, curvy FMC, pop-star × firefighter, forced proximity, single dad, part-time nanny, friends to lovers, found family, grumpy × sunshine, it's always been you, minor fight, no third-act breakup, small town, kinky, secret tattoo, drama, steamy, HEA
Bonus chapter - 1 (blurb for book 5)

Thank you, Willa Kay, for the ARC. I absolutely devoured this book. This book had the right amount of everything: plot, emotions, drama, steam, family and friendship, and lots of love.

I don't usually read romances with pop stars in them, but from the moment Ruby's character was introduced in Sweet Escape, I was intrigued to know more about her and her life.

Ruby has recently parted ways with her toxic label, which has done more harm than good, and she returns to Oak Ridge for a change and to be closer to her family. Liam has always been her soulmate, the man she left behind, but also her ex's older brother. However, when he needs help for his son, she doesn't hesitate to offer her assistance. What begins with a part-time nanny job rekindles old passion and chemistry, and now Ruby and Liam can't seem to stay apart.

Aiden and Ruby's bond was precious. The way she treated him with so much love and care showed how much she valued and liked Liam.

The subtle moments and flirting were what I lived for, and the spice was bang on, but what I loved the most was the raw emotions. The way both Liam and Ruby handled situations and their relationship made the story so much better. Their relationship was natural and beautiful. The way they supported each other, while also uplifting one another, showed how mature they were. Communication is key, and I was glad to see them do it repeatedly.

Ruby was a badass with a kind, loving heart, and I loved everything she stood for. I was glad to see how she still managed to cherish her career while being with the love of her life. The song lyrics were so damn good, I would pay to listen to them in real life.

Liam was a selfless man, and I couldn't have thought of a better partner than Ruby for him, who not only loved him but fought for him because he deserved it. But damn, he had a filthy mouth, and I was SAT because, one, he was a firefighter and, two, a single dad, MAMA LIKES!!

I liked how the story solely focused on the main couple and not the side characters.

There was constant drama in the story to add a bit of a kick, and I enjoyed most of it.

The ending was bang on—beautiful, sweet, and heartwarming. Ahh, another Hayes sibling story stole my heart.

The bonus epilogue with the blurb of the next book left me shocked and intrigued. LIKE OMFG, I NEED TO KNOW MORE!!

Loved it, definitely recommended.
Can't wait for others to read it too!!
Overall, 5/5.

I'm definitely hooked on this author and her writing style. Skyline & Sanctuaries was another hit for me. I loved the relatable characters, the strong emotional bonds that tether our MCs together and the found family vibes - with all the love and acceptance - was another highlight.

Ruby has reached her dream of singing to the masses and is known as the Country Music Darling but the fame has come with abuse and exploitation she didn't see or expect, from her own label. When they go too far, Ruby decides it's time to end their relationship and reevaluate her future. And nothing beats going home to her family and reconnecting with her roots.

And nothing is more ingrained in her past than the man she's secretly loved for the last decade. But Liam is her ex's older brother and still remains forbidden . . . or does he?

This story was such a swoony journey with just the right amount of pining, angst, healing, rediscovery and romance that I couldn't put it down. I was invested right from the start and even though their love was complicated, with the whole ex/brother situation, I was rooting for Ruby and Liam. They were good people and they deserved to love freely.

Special shout out to the kids in this series. Just like little Emmy from Sweet Escape, Aiden, Liam's son, was also a charmer. His interactions were so organic and always left me smiling, if not outright laughing.

If you like small town, brother's ex, forbidden romance, single dad, curvy heroine or the country singer trope, Ruby and Liam's story should be on your radar!

“You’re my sanctuary. We could be looking out at the most beautiful skylines in the world or sitting on the open tailgate in the driveway. No matter where I am or what I’m doing, as long as I have you with me, I’m home.”

🥺🥺🥺🥺

Liam & Ruby are such an amazing couple. All that delicious mutual pining, the years apart and then finally clicking together like puzzle pieces. They’re each other’s safe place, and I was swooning the whole way through.

𝑹𝒖𝒃𝒚: Total queen energy. Strong, funny, and totally willing to scorch anyone who deserves it (yes, even snotty kids). She knows what she wants and isn’t shy about calling Liam out on his nonsense. She’s also taking her life & career back into her control. Baddie status: certified.

𝑳𝒊𝒂𝒎: Liam is headstrong, caring and 1000% a stalker. He’ll bend over backward for the people he loves putting their needs first. He is also the best dad to Aiden, however he’s convinced he doesn’t measure up for Ruby (spoiler: she is NOT having that).

𝑨𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏: Precious cinnamon roll alert! He’s had a rough childhood & he wants his family to grow to include Ruby. I just wanted to reach through the screen and give him a big hug!

The comfort level between Liam and Ruby is off the charts. They just get each other. Of course, they also have their messy moments, cue me yelling, “WTF, nooo,” “Liam, stop talking!” and “Yesss Ruby, drag him!” (I’m sure my neighbors love me, because I was actually yelling these things.) especially me screaming, “JUST KISS ALREADY.”

Also… the spice? Let’s just say 𝘥𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘺,I mean Liam knows exactly what he’s doing. 👀🔥

By the end, you’re on this heart-tugging, swoony ride with two people who are clearly meant to be (even if they’re the last to figure it out). I giggled, I swooned, and shed a tear or two. (Like fifty, but who’s counting)

Bottom line: Willa’s storytelling magic strikes again, and you’re gonna want to clear your weekend for Liam and Ruby’s love story.

✨ 𝘚𝘬𝘺𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴 & 𝘚𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘖𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘣𝘦𝘳 𝟤𝟢𝘵𝘩!! ✨

I am so honored to be apart of Willa’s Skylines & Sanctuaries ARC team. It actually feels illegal reading it & posting my review so soon, lol.

This was freaking phenomenal. Full stop. It had spicy spice, heart, drama, big girl rep, perfectly imperfect people, and true family. Love!

Ruby is an insanely talented mega country superstar.

Liam is a bartender turned firefighter and single dad.

They have known each other for years. She dated his brother. He cared for her. She left town at 18 to pursue her singing dreams. He stayed. She worked hard and found fame & fortune. He found out he had a son. Life happened. She is back in town figuring out her next step. He is handling iher return about as well as you'd expect. He gets a full time job as firefighter hunk. She steps in as his nanny. He insists it be a live in position, you know, for the kids. And it just gets better from there!

Ruby. Oh Ruby. I already knew I loved her from the other books she has appeared in but I was truly unprepared for just how much I would love her. Gah!! She is loud, bold, sparkly, and proud of herself & her body. She has fought for her voice & place and she isn't going to let anyone stop or move her. Hero.

Liam is the sweetest man with the filthiest mouth and lowest self esteem. He had a terrible start to life but did his best for himself and his brother. And now he is giving his son the best life he can and being the best dad. He doesn't see his worth and has to do some learning in that area. It will break your heart a little.

I adore these two. Individually. Together. However I can get 'em. They are incredible. I love how they are strong for each other and help each other where they need it most. Swoon.

I love Willa's writing. This woman has a way with words that draws me in and completely captures my heart & imagination. And the unhinged internal dialogue is perfection!

I received this as an ARC and while I am beyond grateful for the early read, it had zero impact on my review. These ramblings are all because of the story.

(ARC Review)

THIS BOOK.

First of all right off the bat Ruby is an absolute babe of a woman and I am obsessed with her. She’s a soft bodied queen, a musical powerhouse and the sweetest person! Honestly, she’s in the dream FMC friendship group right now.

Liam is a bartending turned firefighter (let’s be honest, both of those occupations make him hotter) and a devoted single father. Liam is the sort of person who would pick you up if something bad happened but would surprised when you introduced him as a close friend. We all know those people or have been those people at some point and do you know what the people who don’t think highly of themselves need? They need someone who puts them first and chooses them again and again- welcome Ruby to the stage.

This book had everything you could want in a starlit returns to home town way and I loved every second of it.

My personal favourite bits:
-Aidan is the cutest 9 year old and his interactions with Ruby 🥺
-the found family and small town vibes
-how down bad Liam is for his woman
-the YEARNING
-Ruby’s lyrics!
-my favourite micro trope- a secret tattoo! 💕

You will not regret giving this a go, it’s such a good read!

And the glimpse of the next book?! Let’s just say I am on the edge of my seat!

Thank you so much for the ARC copy @willkaywrites, all thoughts are my own.

Thank you so much to the author for trusting me with this ARC. 💌 I thought Sweet Escape had already claimed the top spot in my heart, but Ruby and Liam showed up and said “watch this.”

-

Willa, the woman you ARE. Every time I think you have hit your peak, you rip the bar out of the ceiling and launch it into orbit. I have been a loyal reader of this series completely by choice. And after the standalone, Sweet Escape, I was convinced I had found my favorite. I spoke too soon, because this one owns my whole F*CKING heart.

We follow Ruby, a country music superstar with a spotlight life and a deeply guarded heart, as she crosses a path with a former acquaintance Liam, a single dad in need of a nanny who is absolutely not ready for the storm that is her. What unfolds is a magnetic, slow-burn, ex-boyfriend’s brother romance that feels like a punch to the chest in the best way. There is tension, there is healing, there is swoon, and there are moments that had me screaming that this is five stars and everybody needs to look.

Ruby’s growth is beautiful. Liam’s devotion is unreal. The forbidden pull of we shouldn’t, but I am already too far gone makes it impossible to put down.

If you are craving a hard hitting, emotionally rich, five star ex-boyfriend’s brother romance that will make you kick your feet and clutch your Kindle like it is sacred, this needs to be your next read.

And if you are not convinced yet, let Liam say it for me:

“We should order food, or I’m gonna skip straight to dessert.”

Cue me screaming.

From the very first chapter, this book completely drew me in. The chemistry between Liam and Ruby jumps off the page — that mix of longing and tension that makes you keep turning the pages just to see them give in.

Liam is such a brilliantly written character. He tries so hard to fight his feelings for Ruby, convinced he doesn’t deserve her and that she’s off-limits. It honestly broke my heart, because he really does deserve love. He’s a good man, a great dad, and when that confident, dominant side of him comes out with Ruby — it’s so hot. You just can’t help but fall for him.

Ruby, on the other hand, is bold, funny, and absolutely gorgeous inside and out. I loved how she owns every part of who she is — strong, sexy, and completely unapologetic. She’s the kind of heroine you root for from the start.

What I especially loved was the bond between Ruby and Liam’s son, Aiden. It was so natural and heart-warming — the way she connected with him and cared for him added so much depth to the story. Their moments together showed a softer, nurturing side of Ruby and made Liam’s love for her feel even more meaningful. It wasn’t just about the romance; it was about creating a family, finding trust, and healing together.

This book was such an easy, enjoyable read — one of those stories you pick up meaning to read a chapter or two, and suddenly it’s way past your bedtime.

Willa Kay has done it again. I adored every bit of this story.

I had the wonderful opportunity to read Skylines & Sanctuaries as an ARC reader, and let me just say ! completely enjoyed it.
This is the fourth book in the Oak
Ridge series, and l've been eagerly anticipating it ever since l finished Sweet Escape last month (which was my first Willa Kay read and an absolute delight).
Going into this one, my expectations were sky-high, and it did not disappoint. Willa Kay's writing style is so effortless and captivating, I was hooked from the very first page. I became so invested that l literally stayed up way too late just to finish.
Ruby's confidence and Liam's protectiveness made such a perfect balance, and don't even get me started on Aiden, his moments with Ruby were the sweetest thing ever. The yearning between Ruby and Liam was heartbreakingly beautiful, the kind of slow-burn connection that makes your chest ache in the best way. Their chemistry after all those years apart was EVERYTHING.
By the end, I was left on this heart-tugging, swoony ride with two people who are clearly meant to be... And that ending?!
Absolutely destroyed me. How am I supposed to wait for what's next?!
Also, special shoutout to Jerry the bunny, who had me laughing out loud more than once.

Oh my word, Willa Kay! The pining between Liam and Ruby is absolutely next level.

Country music star Ruby Hayes has been in love with Liam for a decade. Since she dated his younger brother who treated her terribly and Liam came to her rescue more times than she could count. Likewise, Liam has wanted Ruby and refused to act on it, believing she deserved bigger and better than him.

After years apart, a controlling record label and contract, and a surprise son for Liam, Ruby has returned to her small town home to recuperate and naturally becomes the nanny for Liam's son. Romance reasons. The forced proximity and ridiculous chemistry makes the pining just *chef's kiss*. When these two finally give in to the inevitahble, it's just perfection. This book felt like an alternate timeline, where Taylor gets a second chance at an HEA with the hero from 'Tim McGraw' and I was here for it.

Liam's dirty talk game is absolutely fire. If you're into some dom/sub dynamics, degradation kink, a pierced heroine, and some outdoor shenanigans, you're going to love this.

Willa Kay is on fire this year! I can't get enough everything she writes.

Skylines + Sanctuaries
Book 4 in The Oak Ridge Series
Rating: 5⭐️
Spice: 3🌶️

Miss Willa can do no wrong, y’all! Every time I open one of her books I am seriously amazed at how quickly I’m drawn into the story.

Skylines + Sanctuaries has everything: a gripping plot, emotionally rich characters, a love story that spans a decade, unshakeable friendship turned more, and the kind of found family vibes we all adore.

Ruby is a literal (country) rockstar: fierce, confident, and loyal to her bone. She’s a powerhouse of a FMC and so incredibly loveable. And Liam? Be still my heart. His quiet strength, his unwavering presence in Ruby’s life and the secret love he carried for so long? I was reeling. He deserves the world and I’m so happy he finally got his HEA.

Willa’s writing makes you feel like you’re living in Oak Ridge, like you’re part of these characters’ lives. If you're craving a small town romance packed with heart, heat, and healing definitely add this to your TBR ASAP!

3.5 Ruby is a country music icon but when her tour is over and she’s sick of performing she goes back to her hometown for some rest and ends up becoming a nanny for her ex’s brother and the sparks fly.

If you’re looking for a TSwift-esque country star you got her with this one but her career choices are where the comparisons end. Ruby is a curvy ranch girl who thrives in the spotlight but finds love in the quiet moments. Liam and Ruby are messy but adorable. This book was kind of a plot line soup and was a little much at times - ex’s brother, nanny, legal drama, blackmail, music stuff, high school bullying, disaster, secret kid, single dad, …I could go on but you see the point. I also didn’t get why she’s in her hometown and never sees her family when that was the whole point of coming home. Just the little things. The spice was good, tiny bit kinky and it really works. I kinda slogged through it but got more into it at the end, kind of slow. I started into the series with this one and maybe I would’ve liked it better if I’d read the ones leading up it was just a lot but I’m looking forward to the next one!

Willa Kay has done it again—another absolute masterpiece with Skylines & Sanctuaries. The moment I got the BookFunnel notification that the ARC was ready, I dropped everything (including the book I’d just started) to dive right in.

Liam and Ruby (and of course, Aiden!) stole my heart from page one. I adored this fresh take on a second-chance romance. The shared history between Liam and Ruby gave their story such a rich, heartfelt foundation. I especially loved how Liam had always been Ruby’s biggest supporter—her number-one fan from the very beginning. When the tables turn and Liam needs someone in his corner, Ruby steps up without hesitation.

This is yet another home run from Willa Kay. I devoured it in just two days and still wished there were more pages to turn. Skylines & Sanctuaries truly has it all: sexy firefighters, sizzling spice, swoon-worthy moments, an adorable kid, and a badass female lead.

Since this is part of a series, I highly recommend reading the earlier books first to fully appreciate the characters who make appearances throughout the story.

I’m usually not a fan of the “brother’s ex” trope, but Willa managed to make it work by portraying Connor in a way that made the situation believable and nuanced.

The first chapter hit hard emotionally, and I was instantly hooked. Ruby’s welcome home dinner was heartwarming, and her family was so easy to love. Liam and Ruby’s dynamic was great from the start, their chemistry, banter, and slow build had me invested.

Aiden was an absolute standout. Such a sweet kid, and his bond with Liam added a lot of depth. The “country star turned nanny” setup was surprisingly charming, and the song they wrote together was a beautiful touch.

There were moments that didn’t quite work for me... the repeated reminders that Ruby dated Connor got a little old, and Liam’s constant self-doubt dragged on. But his growth felt real, and the emotional payoff was worth it. The spice was spicying.

The side characters were fantastic, the romantic tension was strong, and the character arcs were satisfying.

*Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read early! All opinions are my own.*

ARC Review: Thank you to Willa Kay for sending me an advanced copy of Skylines and Sanctuaries to read and review!

This book had me feeling all the things! I cried, I swooned, I laughed. Willa Kay’s books feel like returning to your hometown and visiting old friends.

I’m a sucker for the “It’s always been you” trope. I loved Ruby and Liam's relationship, and I also loved how things were wrapped up between Liam’s brother, Connor (Ruby’s ex), and Ruby. Ruby is such a badass babe; she doesn’t take crap from anyone! I loved the way she stood up for Liam’s son, Aiden, and took back control in different areas of her life.

Liam’s childhood was heartbreaking. I love how Liam’s devotion to Ruby over the years was revealed throughout the story, and how Ruby discovered each piece. He’s protective of her. He’d give her anything if only she’d ask. I love how down bad he is for her. I just feel like my words don’t do this book justice. The Spice between Ruby and Liam is scorching! I love Liam and Ruby so much!! The way they chose each other had me in my feels.

Skylines & Sanctuaries by Willa Kay is book four in the Oak Ridge series, it’s a small town, ex’s brother, best friends to lovers romance.

Ruby Lynn Hayes is a big time Country star, she’s been busy touring and making music for years but shes burnt out and homesick. So at the end of her tour, she packs up her bags and goes home to Oak Ridge.

Single dad Liam needs a nanny, when his brother’s ex girlfriend returns home and offers to help he jumps at the chance to spend more time with the only woman he’s ever loved, even if she an off limits, super famous county star, to him she’s just Ruby.

I really loved this book, it’s the perfect romance. Ruby and Liam were made for each other, they had both loved each other for so long.

It’s a slow burn, the tension between them is off the charts and when they finally get together the spice is, *chef’s kiss*.
It’s got some funny bits, some emotional bits, but overall it’s just a beautifully written love story.

Willa Kay has definitely become one of my must read authors.

It should seriously be no surprise that a book coming from Willa Kay was AMAZING. Here readers get a story about a pop star finding her way back home where a certain special single dad also lives. Liam and Ruby’s history is full of angst and complications, but also desire for wanting what they think they cannot have. The way that this story unfolds is beautiful and spicy and so full of tension!!!

I loved the way Willa speaks to some deeply rooted trauma and how those things find a way to impact our lives. I believe it is written in a way that is realistic but also hopeful that life can get better and growth can happen. The way Liam’s undying love and care for Ruby is shown is sooo swoony, and I LOVE how Ruby has so much fight in her. Of course, Aiden is ADORABLE and it was really cool to get more of Connor!

Overall if you are looking for a popstar who is breaking down gender walls, a firefighter mmc who is totally obsessed, a hilarious kiddo who you just want to hang with, and some incredible spicy moments (including an I CAUGHT YOU moment), this one is for you!

I was lucky enough to receive an E-ARC of this book.
I'll start this review with some of my favourite qoutes throughout

“Where do you want to go, Goldie?” “Anywhere but here.”

“Fuck, baby. I love listening to you play, but your songs have nothing on the sounds you make when I’m fucking you.”

“Get changed and meet me at the truck.” “Where are we going?” “Anywhere but here, Goldie.”

Iv read a few willa Kay books now and absolutely love her books she makes the most beautiful stories. Although I read this before the rest of this series i will be going back to read the rest of them as I need to be back in this beautiful town i definitely fell in love with this small town and now want to uproot my whole life to move to a small town and force my man to become a firefighter
This whole book was just perfect the way these two loved was magic, but that ending WTF willa i cannot wait for the next book.

I love Ruby Lynn Hayes.

Ruby Lynn Hayes is everything I aspire to be. Give me that self-worth and confidence, and I think I could solve all of the world's problems. Not really. But seriously, what an absolute icon.

Watching this love story unfold over YEARS was heart-wrenching. I was holding my breath, praying that there wouldn't be anything else to keep them apart, and I WASN'T PREPARED FOR THE TWIST. But after waiting 4?! 5?! Books for Liam and Ruby to finally come together it was ENTIRELY worth it.

It was entirely rewarding to see them make the conscious choice to keep choosing each other, even knowing things would be difficult. What a wonderful way to showcase that you can each choose your dreams and your person.

(also I need to shout out the absolute filth Liam spews, 1o/10 Willa. 10/10.)

Single dad trope just gets me every time honestly!!

We love that Liam is Ruby’s number one fan, has been to all her gigs in Nashville including when she just opened and owns every album of hers including all special editions!! Then also has her handwriting as a tattoo!!!

“I love you Ruby. I’ve loved you for a decade. I’ll love you for a lifetime it you’ll let me”

Aiden is the cutest kid and I love his pet rabbit that always plays dead😂
The way Ruby absolutely adores Aiden and steps in to be his nanny no questions asked! They have such a sweet relationship and she will protect him not matter what!

I just love this little family, Ruby’s family and the friendship group so much! I can’t wait to go back and read the earlier books in this series to get more of this town!

The last chapter and the epilogue🥹

Thank you Willa for the ARC🫶🏻

I received this as an ARC, so shout out to Willa Kay for choosing me to read this masterpiece early!
Skylines and Sanctuaries is the fifth installment in the Oak Ridge series, and follows Liam and Ruby as they reconnect in person after Ruby has been away touring and recording as a country artist. Ruby steps up to take of Liam’s son as his live in nanny when Liam takes a new job, and their relationship takes off from there.
I absolutely loved this book. The writing is fantastic, the banter between all of the characters will have you laughing, and the spice is spicy!
The only thing that let me down was the lack of follow up with the traumatic event in the book. It’s mentioned in the epilogues, but I wish there would have been more in the actual story. I guess that means there’s another book coming!

I absolutely adored this book. Liam is a single dad to Aiden, Ruby used to date Liam’s brother but there was always a pull between them. When Ruby finds herself returning home after her contract with her record label expires she quickly finds her way back to Liam. Liam is in need of a nanny when he gets a full time job at the local fire station. Ruby steps up to help and finds herself living in his house. The attraction is still there between them and before long lines are being crossed and rules are being broken. Liam insists Ruby is too good for him and will just leave him in the dust and Ruby is convinced they are meant to be. This was such an incredible single dad/ex’s brother book. Every time I read a Willa Kay book I fall more and more in love with her writing and the complexity of her characters.

We have a gorgeous plus size country music star fmc and a hot firefighter single father pining for over a decade. Ruby and Liam are meant to be together, but past trauma, relationships, and burgeoning careers have kept them apart. When circumstances bring them back together, there is no hiding their feelings. This book is funny, sexy, heartbreaking, heartwarming, and did I mention, sexy? About half way through this book I thought, oh that was a cute, short HEA. But then the drama, tension, and badassery real shine in the second half. This is the fourth in an interconnected series, many of the loveable characters of the previous books are showcased in this as well. I loved how strong and secure the fmc was in this, the family dynamics added extra layers of emotion and the song listed at the beginning of every chapter really set the scene. Looking forward to the next in the series.
