Excellent conclusion to the series. Noah has been proven to be Jackson Adair, the missing half-brother to the other Adairs. He has to adjust to being brother instead of cousin, and decide just how involved he wants to be with his new family. He's feeling off-kilter since everything he had believed before has been shown to be a lie.

Noah had grown up as an only child, with his mother keeping him fairly isolated from other people. The only change had been one summer that he spent at the Adair ranch, when he met his "cousins" and "uncle" and started to feel like part of a family. As an adult, he came to live in the guesthouse on the ranch and work on the ranch itself. While there, he got to know Rachel, who came to him for riding lessons. They became good friends, with the potential for it to become more. That is until he discovered that she had been watching him for his new siblings. Hurt and angry, he felt that it was one more betrayal in his life.

Rachel had started getting to know Noah as a favor for her best friend. But it didn't take long for her to like him for himself. She felt guilty about what she had been doing, especially as their relationship started to heat up. Unfortunately, telling him got exactly the reaction she was afraid of, and his reaction broke her heart. On her way to visit her friend, someone tried to run her over with a car, leaving Rachel injured and with a concussion.

Though Noah had been angry, knowing that Rachel is hurt brings him running. Learning about the suspicious circumstances, he insists on staying with her until her concussion has healed. She is attacked again when Noah leaves the house for a short time. At that point he insists on taking her back to the ranch, where there is better security and protection.

Though his willingness to trust Rachel has been damaged, Noah can't deny that he still has strong feelings for her. As he keeps her near him in order to protect her, those feelings continue to grow. I loved seeing them work their way back to each other as they also worked out who was behind the attacks. I loved the ending as Noah and Rachel realized that life can be unpredictable and facing it together makes them stronger. I loved the party at the end and the surprise that Rachel had for Noah.

The suspense of the story was fantastic. After Noah's identity is confirmed, suddenly the two people he has come to care about the most are victims of attacks. His real mother ends up in the hospital with smoke inhalation. The attacks on Rachel are even worse. A suspect in the attacks becomes obvious and Noah, desperate to keep Rachel safe, attempts to set a trap. It doesn't go quite as planned and Noah ends up in a dangerous situation. The final confrontation was intense as the trap closed, and the killer was finally caught. I was happy to see that my suspicions from the previous book turned out to be correct.

I loved this series. If you are looking for a good series that has action, and romance this series is it. Each book can be read as a standalone.
This was a great way to end the series. Throughout the series, there was questions on what happened to Jackson Adair. He went missing as a baby, and the family never gave up hope on finding him. Through DA testing, we found out Noah was the missing heir. He was working for the family. He always loved ranch work. This throws him off. He does not know who he can trust.

After he found out who he really was, people he was close too started being attacked. He and Rachael had chemistry, and was friends. Shortly after Rachael, and Noah had a fight someone tried to run Rachael over with a car. She woke up in the hospital with Noah holding her hand. Noah became the protector, but the attacker never stopped trying to kill Rachael. The action was intense, and would leave most of us shaking at the events that was taking place.
I loved how the family grew close during this time. I also loved how Noah got to know his birth mother. It was strange at first for Noah, but throughout the book the two had time to form a bond.

Excellent book!

I have always wanted to do this!

The Adair-Winston Family

Yes, make a family tree! And since neither of the ‘Adair’ series has one, I felt compelled to create one. Do let me know how it is, and whether it needs improvement (after reading all the books, of course)!

The reading order of the series is as follows:

“The Adair Legacy” (published 2014)

Her Secret, His Duty by Carla Cassidy
Executive Protection by Jennifer Morey
Special Ops Rendezvous by Karen Anders
Secret Service Rescue by Elle James
And then comes:

“The Adair Affairs” (published 2015)

Carrying His Secret by Marie Ferrarella
The Marine’s Temptation by Jennifer Morey
Secret Agent Boyfriend by Addison Fox
Heir to Murder by Elle James

Read the books in the above-mentioned order, and you are good to go!

Needless to say, as all the books in both the series come under the Mills & Boon imprint of ‘Romantic Suspense’, all of the above have tons of suspenseful action! Published a year apart, you can draw parallels between the books of the two series. There are many similarities in their storylines, and it surprised me a lot as nowhere it is given that there is any link between the two series, and I myself stumbled upon them almost a year apart! Thankfully, I had read ‘The Adair Legacy’ first; otherwise, it would have been a bit of a spoiler.

I love the way Kate’s character has been written and also how beautifully it has shaped up over the course of the 8 books. While all other characters are flitting in and out, she is the only constant. Even if briefly, she appears in all the books and makes her appearance count (always the ‘matchmaker’)! Also, being the former vice-president, you almost don’t expect the homey atmosphere of ‘Winston Estate’ which welcomes you to the books, especially in ‘The Adair Legacy’ series.

Both the series are the individual stories of three brothers and their sister, with the only exception being the sister’s daughter replacing her in ‘The Adair Legacy’ (which makes Kate a Grandma!)

Her Secret, His Duty (by Carla Cassidy)
(The Adair Legacy #1)
What I felt about this one is that it could have had a bit more romance. And the same goes for:
Carrying His Secret (by Marie Ferrarella)
(The Adair Affairs #5)
Appearing under the category of ‘Romantic Suspense’ these two appeared to have missed the romance a little.
Similarities: Both are classic M&B ‘secret’ pregnancy tropes with the eldest sons (Trey and Whit) heading their respective businesses while the female protagonists (Debra and Elizabeth) work for one of their parents (part office romance).

Executive Protection (by Jennifer Morey)
(The Adair Legacy #2)
And
The Marine’s Temptation (again, by Jennifer Morey)
(The Adair Affairs #6)
Similarities: The first one above has the lady convincing the man about falling in love while the second one is vice-versa. But of course, it is only if you narrow it down to that; otherwise, both the books are great to read.

Now’s where the order is getting a bit muddled, as far as similarities are concerned.
Special Ops Rendezvous (by Karen Anders)
(The Adair Legacy #3)
Secret Service Rescue (by Elle James)
(The Adair Legacy #4)
And
Secret Agent Boyfriend (Addison Fox)
(The Adair Affairs #7)
Heir to Murder (by Elle James)
(The Adair Affairs #8)
Similarities: While #4 and #7 have secret agents (Daniel and Derek) acting out as boyfriends to their respective female protagonists (Shelby and Landry) as a ruse for investigative purposes, #4 and #8 are all about long-lost identities (of Shelby and Jackson).

While the first series deals almost entirely with an ‘attempt to murder’, the second series deals with an ‘actual’ murder.

And one thing which is common to all of them is that ‘someone is always trying to kill someone’, so definitely suspenseful!

Special Mention: Be sure not to miss Elle James’ books as both of the titles will send you on a roller-coaster ride of nail-gripping action. (I am writing this while searching for more Elle James books. I have fallen in love with her writing!)

Boggled your brains? Well, read it out and then you will know!

Heir to Murder is another awesome read from Elle James. Ms. James captured my attention quickly and completely. I finished this book in one setting because I could not wait to see what was going to happen next.

Noah Scott is feeling lost. He has just found out the people he thought were his cousin are really his siblings. He doesn't know for sure who he can trust. Noah has a lot going on in his life and a lot of adjusting to do. Then bad things start happening to people he cares about. Now he also has to try to keep the ladies in his life safe.

Rachel Blackstone's relationship with Noah started out as a ruse to help her friends make sure Noah was not up to something. However the more time she spends with Noah the closer their relationship grows and feelings start to form along with a strong attraction.

Noah and Rachel have a lot of obstacles to overcome if they are going to be able to make a relationship work. They must find out if that attraction they feel is strong enough to over come all the problems that keep cropping up.

Rachel finds herself in danger several times. She's not sure who would want to hurt her but someone is out to get her. Rachel is a lot stronger then some give her credit for. I really liked Rachel right away. She's a brave lady to deal with everything she faces.

This book is full of drama, suspense, romance and a little bit of steam. I found myself flipping pages quickly so I could find out what dangerous thing was going to happen next and to whom. I also could not wait to see who might want to hurt the women in Noah's life and why.

I really enjoyed this book and could not put it down. Like I said I finished this book in one setting because I was so captivated I needed to keep reading. Elle James has done a great job of adding just the right amount of suspense and drama as well as a nice romance that is also full of drama. I just adore her writing style. She is very talented and is one of my very favorite authors for a romantic suspense story.

I have not read any of the other stories in The Adair Affairs series but I didn't have any trouble reading this as a stand alone. So if you want to just grab Elle James' contribution to the series I don't think you will have any trouble reading it as a stand alone either.

If you are an Elle James fan like me, you are in for some great books. She has some great releases the last few months. I am in my glory with great books and I think you will be too.

I was given the opportunity to read Heir to Murder so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on this great book.

This is the first Harlequin Romantic Suspense book I’ve read by Elle James although I’ve read and reviewed many of her other books.

Heir to Murder is the fourth and final book in the Adair Affair continuity series for Harlequin Romantic Suspense. When I found this out I almost declined to read and review the ARC I was offered by the author. Since I hadn’t read the other stories in this series I was afraid that I would be lost and feel like I missed too much by starting at the end, so to speak. I should not have worried, and I’m glad that I accepted the ARC.

This book does a great job of filling you in on the information you need to know from the other books. The story of Hero Noah/Jackson and heroine Rachel is a compelling one filled with twists and turns and hot, sexy time between the H and h. Our Hero was raised Noah Scott by the women he thought was his mother. In fact, he was stolen from his parents as a child and the woman who raised him is actually his aunt. He feels deeply betrayed and is now suspicious of his half brothers and sister, wondering what their motives are for welcoming him into their family.

Rachel is his half-sister’s best friend and he has been giving her riding lessons. He is beginning to have more than just friendship feelings for her and she for him. When he finds out that she is already an accomplished rider and that she has actually been spying on him for his half siblings, the feeling of additional betrayal is nearly overwhelming.

The story of how they overcome this situation, and help solve the murder of his father, will keep you turning the pages and not want to put the book down. It’s a great story and one I’m glad to have read. Thanks for the ARC, Elle!

The opinion expressed is my own and was not influenced by the receipt of the ARC.

Love reading about the Addair family! In this gripping conclusion to a family scandal and secret, They find their missing brother who was around and within arms reach all this time!

Even though he walked away from Rachel after she told him that she had known like his family who he was. He knew he shouldn't of left her and was on his way back. Even though he didn't see it at first, he finally realized how much he cared for her after she almost dies twice because of him!

If I remember correctly, only thing I wasn't so thrilled with was the ending.....unless of course there's more Addairs out there!

I surely hope so!

I am drowning in books so I'm trying to permit myself to do better about DNFing. This is the fourth book in a series so it already started out a problem for me - we're introduced to about a million characters and we're supposed to like and trust all of them. Add in that the book is set in/outside San Diego and, uh, let's just say it bears no resemblance to the San Diego I knew, and then follow it up with lines like "Rachel loved to cook but had very few occasions to do it. She stayed busy with her social obligations, organizing charitable events and philanthropies." Oh, philanthropies, of course! I spend a lot of time organizing those, or would if I were a socialite, even one on the "social fringes" of San Diego who spends most of her time managing charities "especially for the navy SEALs." (No, this is not a Navy SEAL book.) I don't usually read romantic suspense and this did not seem to be working as a starter. Done.

Even though I didn’t read the previous books in this series, I had no problem enjoying this book. Noah Scott/Jackson Adair is the long lost son to Reginald Adair who has been murdered. Noah’s half brother and half sister have asked a friend, Rachel Blackstone, to spy on Noah to determine if Noah is pulling a con on the family.

Rachel falls in love with Noah instead. After several attempts are made on her life, Noah is determined to find out who is behind all the murders. He has fallen in love with Rachel too and wants to keep her safe.

Great story that is enjoyable to read.

I received a copy of Heir to Murder from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

From the book jacket:
Thanks to a DNA test, ranch hand Noah Scott discovers he's heir to a billion-dollar fortune. Now an Adair, Noah must come to grips with his true identity and the shocking murder of his real father. Then he discovers that the one woman he thought he could trust was spying on him for his siblings, and he cuts Rachel Blackstone out of his life.

But his father's killer has never been caught… With all those close to Noah targets—including Rachel—Noah needs to set a dangerous trap…using himself as ultimate bait.

This is the fourth and final book in Harlequins Adair Affair series. Although the books are connected by the murder of patriarch of the Adair family, each can be read as a stand alone as well. Events from previous books are briefly covered to keep those who have not read the other books in the series up to date. Each of the books in the series deals with a different sibling, how each is affected by his death and their romantic lives. This particular book tells of Noah Scott finds he is an Adair by blood and as such is drawn into the drama. Noah's feeling for Rachel Blackstone are growing until he believes she has betrayed him and he feels he can trust no one.

Read the exciting conclusion to the series, learn who the killer is, how Rachel supposedly betrayed him and how Noah goes about using himself to flush out the killer. With strong believable characters and intense and suspenseful plot Heir to murder is a must read by those who enjoy both romance and suspense books. My Rating is 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Fast paced, constant action mixed with a romance on an emotional roll-a-coaster, and meddling family makes this a fantastic ending for the Adair Affairs series.
Noah and Rachel have become friends, while Noah has been giving her riding lessons. Now that Noah finds out he is the missing heir to the Adair family, he feels like the only person he can trust is Rachel. Until he finds out, Rachel has been spying on him the whole time, for his siblings.
That sets off the events, that include many murder attempts, accidents, and constant danger to the lives of those close to Noah. The story moves fast, and kept the interest, it was hard to put down. There's so much action, surprises, twists in the plot, that I was hanging on to every word.
The romance between Noah and Rachel is fragile. Noah is struggling with his feelings, since he knows, Rachel lied to him. Trust is hard to build again, but as he is putting everything else in his life on the hold, to protect Rachel's life, it is hard not to fall deeper and deeper for her. Together they are seamless team, they have the same interests, enjoy each others company, and the connection and electricity between them is sizzling.
With all the loose ends tied up, and questions finding answers, this ending to the series brings the family finally all together in the action packed conclusion, where we are reminded that life is too short and unpredictable to hide our feelings, and hold onto grudges

Heir to Murder by Ella James is the fourth and final book in the Adair Affair series. I have read the other books in the series however the author does a great job of catching you up so I think you could also read it as a standalone. The other books are very good so I recommend reading them all in order to get the most out of your reading experience.

This is the story of Noah/Jackson who we found out is the long lost missing Adair heir in the previous book. He was raised Noah Scott by the women he thought was his mother. He was stolen from his parents as a child and the woman who raised him is actually his aunt. This is his story of overcoming the betrayal and finding out who is trying to hurt women important to him. We are still looking for his father’s killer.

Rachel is his half-sister’s best friend and came to him for riding lessons. When he finds out that she was only getting lessons to spy on him for the Adair siblings, the betrayal continues. I am typically not a fan of storylines where they are keeping secrets from each other. I am glad I stuck with this one because they resolve it quickly and it does not overshadow the mystery and suspense
This story is steamier and more focused on romance than the other books in the series but you still get plenty of action and suspense.

Finally find out who the murder is. Lots of drama, action, betrayal and sex in this last book of The Adair Affairs. I have missed the third book of the series.

It is official that Noah is really the kidnapped Jackson Adair all grown up. Noah does not know who to trust now that he has realized that he has been lied to all his life. He thinks Rachel is the only one he can trust now.

Rachel has been keeping her own secrets from Noah. She tries to tell him. When Noah finds out he leaves. Rachel then is almost run over.

Their is so much betrayal that everyone is afraid to trust each other. Especially when it was family that had taken Jackson years ago.

Who is trying to kill Rachel and Ruby now?

Ruby has finally found her son. How hard would that be to have your child kidnapped? Her in-laws did not accept her and took the baby away.

It is full of emotional baggage, as everyone comes to realize who they can trust and try and protect those who are in danger now. Lots of love scenes.

I was given this ebook to read by Net Galley and Harlequin. In return I agreed to give honest review of Heir to Murder.

This series is written by 4 different authors. Each book has it's own story line but there is one giant story arc that runs through each book. Basically each book is a companion novel. They each have their own hero & heroine. I personally like to read all the books in a series and I'm a stickler for reading them in order. Technically you could read each as a standalone but the larger story arc grows with each novel. This series hasn't thrilled me but I've enjoyed it. I have to say I called it. You kind of saw it coming but this was still a very fun book. I liked watching the larger arc grow with each book, leading to this final conclusion. The story between Noah & Rachel was also fun and exciting. Sometimes characters really tick me off. This was a fun series, I did enjoy it but I can't see myself re-reading it. Hopefully you'll enjoy it more.

This book was absolutely fantastic from page one to the very last page. This is final book in the Adair Affairs series and it didn't disappoint. This is the story of Noah Scott who finds out he is really Jackson Adair and Rachel, the woman who he is falling in love with. No spoilers here you will have to read this suspenseful, action packed, romantic book to find out what happens. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I loved every minute of it. Elle James has done it again with another great book that will keep you riveted until the very last page.

This is not the first book I have read by Elle James and I still didn't find one I didn't thoroughly enjoyed! This book is released as the fourth and final book in the Adair series for Harlequin Romantic Suspense. And although it is the fourth one it could be read perfectly well without having read the previous ones (although you will miss all the fun!)
The story is about Noah Scott and Rachel. They have great chemistry and the romance is hot! The book has plenty of suspense and you never know what will happen next. Great story. Thrilling and romantic!

Elle finishes the Adair Affairs series with an Action-Packed, Exciting conclusion!!!

This is the first book I have read in the Adair Affairs series and I usually do not read series books out of order. However, it was easy to get into the story and follow along well with what has lead up to this point. I really enjoyed reading about Noah (Jackson) and Rachel. I definitely will be going back and reading the first three books in the series.

This was an okay book, it just didn't really fly overly high for me. My biggest issue was how much Noah flip-flopped on his feelings about Rachel. He hates her for lying to him, he loves her/wants to protect her. It's like okay man, we get it. But in the end everything worked out so I was okay with the book over all, just not...in love with it.

An excellent conclusion to the Adair Affair series. Please note this can certainly be read as a stand-alone if you haven’t read the rest of the series. Noah learns his true identity and when the woman he is starting to have feelings for betrays him, he isn’t sure who he can trust. The story is fast paced and characters well written. I was hooked from beginning to end, I loved it!

I don't think I'll ever be able to read this book, because it boils my blood. I knew who Noah was in book one-I suspected because his mother kept a tight reign on him, and I confirmed when he showed up at the door in the epilogue looking a spitting image of his brothers. I don't understand how the dad didn't know-not wanting to accuse his sister aside, the ages would line up. And so do the looks. And the fact that none of his PIs could find a trail. I would have done a DNA test, but the guy died never knowing his "nephew" was his son, and probably barely knew him, or to whatever degree. The pain of all of that just boils my blood and I don't think I'll ever be in a mental place to read this. So, it was obvious but that doesn't mean it's easy to read about.
