New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Angie Fox writes sweet, fun, action-packed mysteries. Her characters are clever and fearless, but in real life, Angie is afraid of basements, bees, and going up stairs when it is dark behind her. Let’s face it. Angie wouldn’t last five minutes in one of her books.
Angie is best known for her SOUTHERN SPIRITS™ mysteries, and for her ACCIDENTAL DEMON SLAYER books.
This is not the worst book in the world. That being said, if you do not know the basic premise of the characters, or at least have an inkling about what the series that these excerpts\short stories are based on then this comes across as the worst book in the world. Dumping characters right on top of you, with pasts and deep involved plots that you are totally clueless about. I could see this as a tantalizing glimpse into these worlds that intrigue the reader into wanting to know every thing about the entire cast of characters. I could also see this as a delightful little tidbit to pass the time until the next novel in a beloved series comes out. Instead I saw it as little confetti sized scraps of story ripped from any relevant context and left to float away on a sea of barely-there plot. Each story is well written the overall effect simply left me feeling as though I had been plopped down naked in the middle of a bunch of people and expected to know everything about them. I do not regret reading this book, but I do not believe that I will pursue any of the series within.
I originally bought this set for the new story from Deanna Chase. I just love the Bourbon Street series and this was great short story. Not only did I get a new story from Chase, but I am now able to read other authors I haven't had a chance to yet. It's a great set and don't miss out!
Good stories....make sure you have read at least the first book in each series or the characters and storylines will make no sense. I enjoy reading these authors.
I love this little book of novellas. also, so glad I have the first books to all these series. but my favorite was the rose presseys one I love the Hallie leveau series
