This is a nice solid start on the principles of non-violent communication.

But... In this book there was such a heavy reliance on fictional dialog to illustrate the various points. Which is fine, but the problem I always have with this type of book is that they never seem to address the types of communication problems that I actually have in real life.

I do love Non-Violent Communication, and I think the strategies discussed in the book are pretty amazing. It would be hard to get the full value of this approach from just reading a book. For me, it was a nice reminder/refresher of the key concepts, and a strong motivation to keep developing these skills on my own. I look forward to the rest of the books in this series as well!
