I brought this book along on a road trip and it did not disappoint. Our 8 year old embraced it as quickly as I handed it to her.
The trip passed in a blur and we were treated to her giggles and happy comments as she shared with us. An example she told us…. “What do you call the story of the three little pigs?” Ready for it? “A pig tail!”
Not only will they be telling you the jokes, there is a lot of drawing an coloring involved to keep them busy. What a great find this book was, and such a great way to keep you kids reading and sharing. What an enjoyable time we all shared.

Laugh-Out-Loud Pocket Doodles for Girls by Rob Elliott
What a fun book. When I received this book, Laugh-Out-Loud Pocket Doodles for Girls, I was in love at once. I can see my granddaughter enjoying this book in the near future.

Each page has a riddle, with the answer, and then at the bottom is a doodle idea. This would make a wonderful book for a family that is traveling in the car to help keep the child busy, and enjoying their time.

The author is Rob Elliott who has written several out Laugh out loud books, joke and knock-knock books. He works with Jonny Hawkins who is a cartoonist who has been published in over 600 publications.

Enjoy this book, but try to look at it first, or you may not get it back from the child to look at later.

I was given this book by Baker Publishing in exchange for my honest review.

Kids love jokes. The author has combined jokes and drawing to create a fun and entertaining book that will keep children occupied for hours. Each page has a joke, the answer, and a half drawn picture that goes with the joke. The instructions tell you what you can draw to finish the doodle. But creativity is also allowed.

My daughter (6 yrs old) giggled as she read through the entire book. Then she told me she "loved it" and sat down to draw. So it was definitely a hit. The book is small and will fit easily into a purse for those long doctor appointments or car rides when kids are easily bored. The illustrations and doodles that fill the book are just as hilarious as the jokes and add to the fun. Would definitely recommend this book for anyone with kids or someone looking for a great gift or stocking stuffer.

I received this book free of charge from Revell Reads in exchange for my honest review.

What a fun little book!

For beginners, I like how small this book is! It’s the perfect size for traveling or carrying on the go somewhere with the kiddos. Not to mention it’s not too big length wise either.

These pocket doodles are hilarious! I love the jokes that are on almost every page as well as the drawing ideas. I like how the author included prompts at the bottom about what to possibly draw on any given page. The pictures are simple, but fun and the jokes are clean, but cheesy.

I’m definitely looking forward to sharing this with my sister this week. I think she will enjoy it even if it’s slightly geared to a younger age group then her (she’s 11).

Want to have some fun laughs with the little ones? Every page has a little joke and then a place to “doodle” and complete the pictures. I received these books from Revell and decided to test them out on my nephews and nieces. They sat and read the jokes to me each morning and then had me color in the pages with them. It was awesome.

What to expect? The jokes are definitely on a child’s level. “When did the lightening hit the scientist? When he had a brain storm” type of thing. The kids thought they were funny, and the ones that were just too ridiculous, they enjoyed making fun of. So, either way, it was a win/win.

Pick up a copy for your grandkids, nieces, nephews, children, and any other little ones you spend time with. It’s a fun and easy thing to do together!! Thanks, Revell! As always, this is my honest opinion. Here’s to many more!!

Rob Elliott in his new book, “Laugh-Out-Loud Pocket Doodles for Girls” published by Revell gives us reasons to laugh out loud and doodle!

From the Back Cover: Q: What’s the worst thing to leave home without?

A: This book!

Stuck in the car on a long trip? Bored out of your mind in a waiting room? Have a few minutes before bedtime? Then you have enough time to let your imagination run wild!

Laugh-Out-Loud Pocket Doodles for Girls lets you

· tell jokes that will have people laughing out loud
· complete hilarious doodles
· entertain everyone around you!

More than one million copies of the Laugh-Out-Loud joke books have been sold. Grab your pens, pencils, crayons, or markers and see what all the fuss is about!

Let’s face it we don’t laugh enough. Look at some of the pictures that are being posted on the social websites and you’ll see that people aren’t even smiling for the camera anymore. What happens when you go on a long car ride and the children start to get antsy? Rob Elliott saw the problem and figured out a way to fix it with his new book. Yes, the jokes are supposed to be for girls and they are. However that doesn’t mean that adults will not enjoy them also. After all being an adult only means that you are a taller kid. Read through the book just for the jokes and some good laughter. Then you get to doodle. I recommend making copies of the pages before handing them to your daughter so that the book remains pristine and you can make more copies at a later date. Jonny Hawkins is the cartoonist who provides the illustrations and they are just priceless. Wait until you see the cow with the jet pack. This book is great fun that the whole family will enjoy. It is also a great gift for friends and family so that they can laugh and doodle as well.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Revell Publishers. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. This is a really cute book. My daughter loves telling jokes when I saw that I had the chance to review this one, I knew I had to jump on it. There are a couple of these books out there. For instance, there is a Laugh
Out Loud Pocket Doodles for Boys, Laugh Out Loud Doodles for Kids, Laugh Out Loud Jokes for Kids, More Laugh Out Loud Jokes for Kids, and Laugh Out Loud Animal Jokes. So, as you can see, you have a wide range to figure out which would be perfect for you or your child.

I love how the girl's book is purple and not pink. It is a nice small size, hence the "pocket" in the description. When you open the book, it is filled with a lot of illustrations geared toward the younger generation. I think this will help younger children feel more at ease when filling out the pictures in the book. I also like how they left most of the pictures undone, so that your child has no excuse but to interact with the book and unleash their creativeness and draw and colour to finish each page. At the bottom of each picture is a gray area that gives an idea on how to finish the picture. There are a lot of funny jokes in the book. It is nice that you don't have to worry about your child reading the jokes because they are all clean. I did fine some to be a little on the corny side, but that might have something to do with the fact that I am not in the age range. I know my daughter really enjoyed the jokes and once she started reading them, she didn't want to stop. It actually took me taking the book away to get her to stop. Seeing how this book can be easily taken anywhere, the next time we go to visit her grandparents (2 hour drive), this book is going to come with us in the car.

Alyzabeth's Take (My daughter)
It is a really good book. I like the jokes in it because they are very funny. One of the jokes I like is ~

Q: What did the lipstick say to the eye shadow?

A: We should stop fighting and make up.

I also like the detail of the drawings and the fact that I get to finish them. I love all the jokes. Well, the ones I have read.

Are you looking for a way to encourage your daughter's creative juices? Would you rather she kills time in a book rather than on an electronic device? Then this book is for her! The pages of this book include half-drawn illustrations that your child needs to finish based on the joke or riddle on the page.

A couple examples from the pages of the book:
"What kind of flowers are great friends? Rosebuds". My daughter drew another rosebud.
"Why did the lady wear a helmet every time she ate? She was on a crash diet." So my daughter finished drawing the lady and then added some spaghetti and meatballs to her plate. Now if she was following the joke, she could have drawn two cars crashing on the plate, but it doesn't matter. That is the joy of this book, the kids can create whatever they want on the pages.

The pages in this book can fill up a few minutes or hours of time, depending on your needs. Once your child has completed a few drawings, be sure to encourage her to share her creations with grandparents, siblings, and friends and she can revel in the telling of the jokes as well. Even though this book states it's for girls on the cover, many of the pages aren't just for girls. The pages are full of animals, people, and food, not princesses and dolls.

This book is small in size and fits in my hand which makes it easy to tuck into your purse with a pencil and pull it out whenever you have time to fill: on a car ride, in a waiting room, while waiting for the bus, or at a restaurant. The illustrations are easy for kids to either finish or add their own next to. They aren't overly detailed but enough that you can see the personality of the animal or person in Hawkin's original drawing.

These are the kind of books that I love to give as gifts because they are unique and help parents fill time and encourage imagination. There is a similar book for boys as well. These books would even fit in their Christmas stockings, so by ordering now, you could have your shopping done for all your grandkids, nieces, nephews, and your own children!

What a wonderful surprise! Good clean fun, entertainment for kids! This book is just the right size to take anywhere anytime. It fits in the palm of my hand, so I know it is easy for a child to carry. All you need is a pencil, but if you want to bring crayons or markers that would be a bonus. I suggest a pencil so if the child wants to “re-do” a part; they can erase and start over.
My mind is spinning with ideas for this book! Great for keeping your children or grandchildren entertained on trips, waiting for appointments, waiting rooms, running errands (which kids hate!), when you are in a meeting with another adult, and there is nothing for the kids to do. The possibilities are endless as there are many times and places you need something for kids to pass the time quietly. I love the fact it is something that will spark imagination and creativity. Better yet it is something OTHER THAN an electronic device. It will also make a wonderful gift, and because of how wholesome the content it can be used for door prizes or gifts in your church!
It is suggested for kids 9 – 12 but I see it working for ages 5 – 80! Children love silly jokes and riddles. This book is packed with 220 of them. Each page shares a riddle/joke. Below it is the answer. There are illustrations that are not completely finished. A suggestion is given on how the child can finish the picture. Be prepared as they will not only want to share their pictures with you but also read you the jokes! For getting a few extra miles out of the book, the children can color the pictures and then save the book to have their very own personalized joke book to enjoy over and over.
This book is designated for girls but boys will enjoy it just as much. Hours of fun and amusement! Buy more than one so the kids can do new illustrations for the jokes. One time around will not be enough!

Since this book recently available from Revell is meant for girls under 12, I turned it over to one of my three girls who fits that age. Well, the truth is I turned it over to all of them, but the middle one claimed it as hers and never looked back. I told her she’d have to blog her review of it since she stole it. Even that didn’t make her give it up. So she’s next to me on the sofa—I’m merely the typist here and only because I’m faster.

(From Megan, age 7)
This book is so funny! I like this book because it fits me—because I’m crazy, and it is too. There are crazy jokes like “What’s a wolf’s favorite book?” (The answer is “Little Howl on the Prairie.”) It isn’t just jokes either. There are riddles and doodles you can finish and color. It means a lot to a girl who likes to have fun.

(From Mom, age older than 7)
Meg LOVED this book. As soon as she opened it she was cracking up at the jokes and making us laugh with them too. She is also an artsy girl, and the doodles are fun for her. They also get her mind going. It’s hard to imagine her being bored with this book in her hand on a long car ride or a rainy day.

Revell and Amazon note Laugh Out Loud Pocket Doodles for Girls is meant for girls ages 9-12. My daughter is obviously 7, and she loves it. Some of the jokes go over her head but not many. I would say you could expand down a few years to include the 2nd and 3rd graders in your life as well. This book is a great alternative to the “I’m bored—can I play on a screen” chorus of summer.

I asked my niece, Robin, to review the book "Laugh-Out-Loud Pocket Doodles for Girls" for me. This is what she had to say: "My favorite thing about this book is the drawing prompts. I don’t actually draw very often, even though I enjoy it, so it was nice to have some new ideas for drawing. The jokes are terrible puns. When I say “terrible,” I don’t mean the jokes aren’t funny, I mean they make you groan. Overall, I like the book, but I think younger girls would like it more."

Robin is 15, so I kind of figured that the book might be a little young for her (as the suggested age range is 9-12), but I thought she would get a kick out of sharing some of the 200+ “groaners” with her family. And I hoped that she would enjoy the drawing and coloring part. Most of us don’t outgrow that interest, we simply don’t always find, make, or take the time to include art or creativity in our daily lives. This book gives your child partial drawings to complete and invites her to use her imagination and add her own embellishments to either fit with or take the image beyond the joke.

There is, of course, also a Pocket Doodles for Boys version. I really think either gender would enjoy either book. They are just full of a variety of good, clean, family-friendly jokes. The reasonable price makes it a great option for stocking stuffers, birthday gifts, and summertime boredom relievers. The convenient size of this paperback allows you to easily slip it into a purse, backpack, or seat back (on a road trip or for something to do on a long flight). Just don’t forget to take along some colored pencils or markers.

What a great break from the TV or computer. What a wonderful tool to encourage quiet time and creativity.

My Review:
Perfect for long road trips or short car rides. I would even suggest using them when you are out running errands with kids in toe. It is a great little pocket sized book to keep them occupied. Designed for girls ages 9 -12 years but could go a year younger or so and still have a great time.

This tiny little book is filled with kid sized jokes and riddles. It also is complete with little doodles for them to finish to occupy their time. It is a great idea and comes with one for girls, as well.

A few jokes included but are not limited to are what do you give a mouse on his birthday? A Cheesecake. The doodle shows a mouse with a birthday hat sitting at a table and you have to complete it. This small book has 240 pages of fun for your child to laugh and have fun with.

Revell and Rob Elliott brings one of the best books for children.

When I first received this book the first thing I thought was why couldn't I have had these when my children were little. These were designed for ages 5-12 and are just perfect in size for little hands.

They are engaging and easy to finish.

Actually these are just good, clean fun for any age.

Since my children are 19 and 14 I went in search of ways to use these with children.

My daughter took the girls version with her to 4-H camp. As an adult leader of 20 little girls ages 10 to 12 years old she need ways in which to keep the girls entertained in the evenings prior to lights out. She said it was a nightly routine to pull the book out for the girls. She said they loved it as much as she loved sharing it.
The jokes and illustrations are well done and bring good clean fun.
I would recommend this book to any parent.

It will keep your child or children entertained whether it be on a trip, snow day or just as a daily way to spend time with your child/children.

I received these books from Revell for a honest review without bias as stated above.

Disclaimer: I will be combining my reviews for the Laugh-Out-Loud Pocket Doodles for Boys and Laugh-Out-Loud Pocket Doodles for Girls, then will publish the review under both books. I requested these books for my 12-yo son and 10-yo daughter as they both enjoy doodling and both love jokes. That being said, I received different responses from my children on these books. My 12-yo son was not impressed with the jokes or the doodling. He felt the subject matter was too young for him, and didn't like the suggested doodles for the jokes. As much as I tried to engage him with the book, he just was not interested. My daughter took a better liking to her book, but still was not fully engaged. She told a few of the jokes and did a few of the doodles, but was not overly excited about it. As an adult, I was impressed with the quality of the books. I thought the jokes were humorous and the doodling was engaging, but in my opinion, these books are probably better suited for children 8 and under for the best impact. Thank you to Revell Reads for providing me with complimentary copies for my honest review.

Do you have a child that loves to doodle? Or, do you have a child that loves to get out the joke book and try to make others laugh? Well, in Laugh out Loud Pocket Doodles for Girls, doodling and jokes are brought together in a fun little book that is perfect for taking with you anywhere.

I think I was expecting more instruction or how to when I first opened the doodle book. Instead I found that each page has a joke on it and then a partially drawn picture. There are instructions on each page asking the kids to complete the picture by doodling whatever subject is being talked about in the joke. I think that as my daughter becomes better at drawing, this book will be even more fun. The age range for this book is 9-12 year olds.

So if you're looking for a fun gift for the aspiring artist in your family, pick up a copy of Rob Elliott's Laugh Out Loud Doodles for Girls. There is also a Laugh Out Loud Pocket Doodles for Boys book too.

Do you know a girl who loves drawing and telling jokes? This little pocket size book is so cute for those little sweeties. With hours of fun doodles to do, and silly jokes to entertain with, girls will love getting one. An example of a page would be:
Q: "How do skunks get in touch with each other?"
A: "They use smell phones"
There is a skunk on the page and the bottom of the page reads: "To whom is the skunk sending a smellfie?"

Each page has a partial picture to finish or add to, along with a joke and a suggestion of something to doodle. This would make a really nice travel book, or maybe even something to keep children busy at a doctor's office or somewhere you would like them to sit quietly, pending they can read and doodle without help. I would say this book is for kids 7-10 as my personal experience is that girls mature quicker than boys. My daughter is 7 and I am sure she will enjoy this book. She loves to doodle.

Fair warning . . . there's a whole lot of cheese dripping from these books. But who doesn't love cheese?!! We have had so much fun with the Laugh Out Loud books at our house. The new Laugh Out Loud Pocket Doodles take that fun to a whole new level.

In this new series of books the zany humor of Rob Elliott mixes with the whimsical doodles of Jonny Hawkins and combine to create hours of fun for kids of all ages. Yes the jokes are silly but that is the total charm of it. We all enjoyed snatching the books up and entertaining our friends and family with these clean jokes.

I have now added them to our car box because they are just perfect for road trips. I also added some colored pencils to use on the doodles. This provided hours of entertainment on our last excursion. The books are small enough that you could easily tuck them in your purse for times when you find yourself waiting at an appointment.

If you have a favorite kiddo in your life you should get them a copy. You won't regret it . . . I promise!

I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

I am reviewing this book with my 9 year old daughter. Our first impressions of the book are great. The cover is very pleasing and “girly”. The book is a fun way to pass the time. It has tons of jokes that include unfinished doodles for the child to complete. It also suggests at the bottom of the page how to complete the doodle for the times when you might get stuck. The jokes are all clean and some are quite funny, even by adult standards. My daughter thought that this would be a great book to bring on long car trips when she gets very bored. Overall, this is a great little book and would make a fun gift for any little artist. There is no recommended age on the book (that we could find) so I would suggest that it would be best for kids ages 5-12.

This is the feminine version of the very similar book aimed for boys. I like the various activities and feel the book is very well designed. A child can skip around in the book or work page by page. Some of the jokes were rather funny and I admit I did laugh out loud at a few. The doodling or drawing is easy to follow or simple enough to add your own flair. Overall this is a very well constructed activity book great for times when there is little else to do. I received an ARC through Revell in exchange for my honest opinion. This in no way influenced how I feel.

This is a great book to give as a gift or just to have around the house. This is the type of item I'd call good, old, clean fun! The jokes were enjoyed by my daughter and the doodle aspect was really neat as well. I think it could easily work for a younger child that just needed sometime to keep their hands busy for a few minutes, trying to do the doodling part. It would be great on a long car ride for everyone to take turns trying.
