Pimsleur Comprehensive Spanish

Pimsleur Spanish III [Lessons 1-30]

Rate this book
Spanish is the official language of Spain and 21 Latin American countries, and is an official language of the U.N. Pimsleur's Spanish teaches an educated Latin American Spanish, with speakers from Colombia and Argentina in levels I-III, and from Mexico in level IV.

The Pimsleur® Method is scientifically proven to be your fastest route to nearnative fluency. Spanish Phase 3 includes another 15 hours of spoken language practice and one additional hour of reading instruction, and is designed to be used after completion of Phases 1 and 2.

The beginning 10 lessons of Phase 3 offer you the chance to expand your vocabulary and increase your fluency to an even higher level. You’ll gain experience participating in many informal and some formal discussions on practical, social, and semiprofessional topics. You’ll skillfully form longer, more complex sentences, and most importantly, you’ll find yourself being understood, even by native speakers unused to dealing with foreigners. You’ll be able to join in conversations effortlessly, confident of being understood. In the next 10 lessons of Phase 3 your skills will show everincreasing mastery of the language. Speaking with grace and complete naturalness, you’ll enjoy fluid conversations on many new subjects. Delving deeper into cultural norms and situations, you’ll find yourself responding effortlessly, and able to choose from a wide accumulation of vocabulary and structures. In the final 10 lessons of Phase 3, you’re nearing fluency with agile responses, and a naturalsounding, nearnative accent. You’re able to utilize the language in subtle ways, and speak using past, present, and future tenses. Selfconfidence soars as you experience the language and culture; no longer as a foreigner, but with a deepening insight into an expanding new world.

Reading Lessons are included at the end of Unit 30. These lessons, which total about one hour, are designed to give you practice reading Spanish and to provide vocabulary. Before you know it, you’ll be reading Spanish with the ease and flexibility of a native speaker. A Reading Booklet to be used with the audio lessons is also included in PDF format.

Acabo de terminarlo. E aprendido mucho de este "libro." No es libro, pero no importa. Es muy importante escuchar al idioma. Ya tengo muchos textbooks en este sujeto. Muy bueno, y voy a buscar Level 4 ahora mismo.

I absolutely love this series! I highly recommend it! It's incredible!

I have two small complaints though. One is that the audio editing gets increasingly sloppy as you get further along. (No where near enough time to respond or repeat what they say OR ridiculously long pauses). My edition is quite old, so newer editions may have fixed this.

Also.... the man who reads instructions in Spanish (not the man who speaks the Spanish dialogue)... talks like he has shit in his mouth! I can understand the male and female voices that converse 100%, but when the man reads instructions (for example "trate de decir"), I can't even decipher what he's said after 3 or 4 listening attempts. The dialogue actor then says what you were supposed to attempt to say, and it's clear as a bell!

I can appreciate the need to hear multiple accents and ways of speaking, but it's very frustrating and discouraging at this basic a level.

It doesn’t cover grammar which is a shame, but if you already know the grammar then this is excellent for training the ear. I picked up lots of useful vocab and phrases. Way too expensive though - so I’ve knocked off one star for that.

This was a pretty good introduction to Spanish which I completed while driving around in my truck instead of listening to ridiculous rap music or boring conservative talk radio. I actually learned something useful! My biggest complaint, as with all my Pimsleur experiences, is that they spend too much time teaching you the informal forms of address, when no one you meet in France, Italy, or Spain, are going to talk to you that way. They should just stick to the formal, and use the time to expand your useful vocabulary.

Same quality standards of the previous ones. I´m not sure if I´m fluent. Don´t think so. However, I´m pretty comfortable consuming media in spanish now, and I understand pretty much everything, if not because I know the words, but because it is easy to grasp in the context when you understand the structures. Of course, I already speak Portuguese, and that is a substantial advantage. I´m not sure if an English only speaker would have had the same fulfillment I had. Anyway, I enjoyed and strongly recommend with a side of Netflix in Spanish.

I am using Pimsleur to regenerate my Spanish. I last took Spanish 2 seven years ago, but hope to take Spanish 3 next semester. Fortunately, Pimsleur offers an easy way to become more fluent while driving around in my car.

Another great course. I can now carry on conversations with native Spanish speakers. Pimsleur is the best money for an active adult who does not have time to sit at a computer for 30 minutes to an hour a day.
