A detailed examination of both the Union and Confederate navies during the American Civil War. It has backgrounds on many naval officers and descriptions of engagements with casualty figures. This is a wonderful addition to the library of the Civil War buff.

This an amazingly good book. I learned a lot from all the details mentioned in it. I would not have known about this book if I didn't see it in the opening credits of the movie The Hunt for Red October.
