START TODAY ON A NEW LIFE PLAN—ONE FILLED WITH VITALITY AND ROOTED IN A RESTFUL LIFE.
We live in a fast-paced society in which nobody seems to have enough time. More than half of all American adults suffer from insomnia. And an estimated fifty million to seventy million Americans live on the brink of mental and physical collapse due to a lack of sleep. In one year alone about forty-two million sleeping pill prescriptions were filled for American adults and children. Ultimately, this lack of sleep is taking a toll on our health and happiness.
If your current pace of life has left you feeling exhausted, depleted, and defeated, rest assured that there is more for you. If you are struggling to find balance and rest, THERE’S HOPE!
In The Ultimate Sleep Guide best-selling author Dr. Colbert shows
Don Colbert, MD, has been a board-certified family practice doctor for over twenty-five years in Orlando, Florida, and most recently in Dallas, Texas. He is also board-certified in antiaging medicine through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and has received extensive training in nutritional and preventive medicine. He is the author of three New York Times best-selling books: Dr. Colbert's Keto Zone Diet, The Seven Pillars of Health, and Dr. Colbert's "I Can Do This" Diet, along with best sellers Toxic Relief, the Bible Cure series, Living in Divine Health, and Stress Less. He has sold more than ten million books and treated more than fifty thousand patients in his years of practicing medicine.
Also, did anyone else find it weird that when he told the story, at the start of the book, of the father (Bill) who’s family was breaking apart and made a point that one of the father’s sons “became a homosexual and contracted AIDS”? Like this was a direct result of Bill sacrificing his family to climb the corporate ladder. That really set a distasteful tone for the book.
I forced myself to persevere through this book, trying to extract the medical science and health advice (which is certainly there) but when I reached chapter 8 and “Find Your Rest in God” with a stack of prayers, well geeezzz, that’s when i hit critical mass.
If you’re a god loving (or is it fearing?) person then you’ll get a healthy balance between god and health advice in this book. If don’t believe in god and have been fooled by the cover, then it will be hard to not throw this in the bin.
My first reaction was surprise by low reviews for this book, but I can see where some people might be caught off guard from the title to the actual contents. It is from an extreme Biblical perspective. As a believer, it was a nice surprise. I picked this up at the library, not even realizing the author was a Christian. I felt like it offered a lot of Biblical encouragement about sleep and rest, along with practical solutions to try.
