Words with Wrinkled Knees: Animal Poems

Rate this book
This brilliant collection of poems by NCTE Award-winning poet Barbara Esbensen is a classic of its kind. Each poem challenges children to think not only about animals but also about animal words. John Stadler's gleeful parade of pictures captures each wrinkled, roaring, or bright-eyed poem.

this gets 5 stars for both writing and illustrations. love the illustrations that perfectly suit the text. she is the best children's poet next to prelutsky...maybe equal, but with a different flavor. the one called 'wolf' i think, is my favorite.
