Isle of Ember

Rate this book
Some truths are forged in fire. Others are buried in ash.

After surviving the deadly wilds of Verdance, Vivienne Banner and the crew of the Zephyrus set sail for the Isle of Ember, a war-forged island ruled by the Drakin, a people bound by fire, honor, and tradition.

They must retrieve the second enchanted artifact and edge one step closer to breaking the curse strangling her homeland. But Ember is not a land of welcome. Amid rising political tensions and a brutal power struggle, Vivienne finds herself navigating more than ancient trials—she’s caught between a dangerous prophecy, a forbidden romance, and a growing power she barely understands.

As Vivienne is drawn deeper into Ember’s secrets, she begins to sense a darkness rising—one not even the gods are prepared to face. And when the cost of sealing the rift between life and death demands the ultimate sacrifice, Vivienne must decide what, and who, she’s willing to lose.

A fantasy adventure of found family, ancient magic, and slow-burning romance, Isle of Ember is the gripping second volume of The Enchanted Isles, where destiny burns brightest in the face of ruin.

*SPOILERS BELOW THAT ARE MARKED WHERE THEY START AND END* I didn't want to hide my entire review since I am an ARC reader and want to help the author out!

Thank you to Alycia Anderson for including me in the ARC team!

This was another good time! Not in the same way as the first one, though. That one was more fun in the sense of new adventure and exploration. This was fun in the sense of deep diving into a new people's culture and a blooming rebellion, except you're on the non-rebel side.

The people of Ember are the Draken, humanoid beings with dragon features (wings, talons, eyes, etc.). They are a firece and dangerous just like the island they live on. Anderson created a beautiful culture that revolves around the volcanos that make up their island. I ate this up! Our main cast spends most of the book in their palace bouncing between prisoners, to guests, and some times both. Don't worry, while on house arrest, pleanty happens. The rebels are brutal and show no mercy with frequent attacks, which makes for questioning loyalties. Tensions are constantly on high, which makes this book feel fast-paced without needing to go anywhere.

****SPOILERS AHEAD FOR CHARACTER RELATIONSHIPS. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK**** (I will mark where spoilers end below if you want my final thoughts).

Let's discuss this love square we have going on.

This book has turned me FIRMLY into team Owen. The pinning? The yearing? The torture this man feels not being with Viv? THE LETTER????? *swoon*. They don't do more than make eye contact or share a kiss on the hand, and it had me SCREAMING! This obviously created tension between them and Cirrus. Neither of the boys react in the best way, but Owen definitely handles everything better. But also, he's not the one in a relationship that's being encroached on, he is infact attempting to be a home wrecker. I still think he'd be better for Viv than Cirrus, but we'll get to why in a minute.

The reason why I'm no longer team Lewis is because of him and Nova. I LOVED THEM!! Lewis, the delicate plant boy with Nova, the fierce Draken princess? Yes please! They are a great contrast to one another. I loved Nova's aggressive flirting and that Lewis ended up being a damsel in distress for her to save (also, new favorite trope for me recently). I hope this has a chance of working out for them! I also loved how we got to see Lewis' realization that his love for Vivi wasn't what he thought originally. He does love her, but not in a romantic way, just in friendship, and he admits to himself about being confused between the two. It took meeting Nova for him to realize it, but sometimes it just takes that special person to do so!

Now back to Cirrus.... I still don't like him. He actually got worse to me. Listen, I love me an asshole love interest: Corrik from Defy the Night series is my favorite of all time, he's an asshole, not a good person, but still has a heart of gold and is trying to be better. Cirrus is not that. I created a new thing for myself: KITB, stands for: kick in the balls. I noted it on my kindle every time Cirrus did/said something that made me want to kick him in the balls. (I will be doing this with every MC from now on thank you) 🤣 Don't worry, I gave him chances. He can subtract from his KITB tally, but that only happened twice and I lost count of how many KITB I ended up with. He said and did some extremely nasty and disrespectful things to Viv. Then Viv, being who she is now, called him out on his BS. Then he'd come back to her like a kicked puppy to apologize. *gag*. Just don't do toxic stuff or treat her like that Cirrus!! I'm glad that Viv finally showed her teeth and actually scared the bejebus out of Cirrus at one point, so he kind of started acting right after that. I get why he would feel the need to be like this, there's a dark and broody Commander after his girl. Still, no need to get nasty or cruel TO HER.

****MAJOR SPOILER FOR THE END OF THIS BOOK AHEAD! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED****

Do I like Cirrus? Clearly not. Did I want him to fall into the abyss? No! And the way Viv feels afterwards when she wakes up, made me feel like I cared about him and wanted him to come back just because of the pain it caused her. He's such a polarizing character for me but I think that's the whole point of him. If they do find him and get him back, I hope he will be a changed and non-toxic man. It takes some dang good writing to make me feel this way so props to the author for sure!!

Also wanted to mention Kalon. He had my heart from the get go, but we can't have nice things can we Alycia??? 😭

****SPOILERS ARE OVER****

I'm really enjoying this series. It feels fresh and different from anything out there right now. I think there's going to be a total of 6 or 7 books (1 book per island I think is the plan), and I'm so ready!!

I recommend this series to anyone who loves action and adventure with a side of romance!!

If I could give this book 6 stars, I would. It absolutely shook me to my core. I cried, ugly cried, like 3 or 4 times while reading this book.

This is Book 2 of The Enchanted Isle series, so beware I am going to be putting some minor spoilers.😅

The new installment of the series, picks up right where we left off, but on a new island; bringing fresh challenges, fire breathing settings, and unforgettable new characters. The new additions to the cast are so well written that when the emotional moments hit, they hit hard. I especially loved the new love story interactions and how the magic felt even more developed, blending perfectly with the atmosphere of the island.

Nova, Kalon, and Demetri were my all time favorite newbies! I really want to see a Lewis and Nova love story develop. And ohhhh my Owen. Hands down Owen has my heart.

There were so many lines I highlighted because it’s clear this book is as meaningful to the author as it is to the reader. The banter was perfection. The slow burn is torturously good. The challenges they face were handled like a crew should, together. Vivienne’s character development has improved so much.

I honestly felt broken after finishing it, like I need to either lie down or drown my emotions in a gallon of ice cream. I can’t decide 🤣🥹

I’m beyond grateful to the author for this early copy. Thank you so so much.

Book 3 can’t come fast enough. Vivienne, my girl, go get them!!

Isle of Ember will go down as one of the best reads I have read of this year. ❤️

Isle of Ember… what a ride!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
🌶️

Y’all, Alicia came to play the damn game in Book 2 and she did not hold back!
Book 1 (The Enchanted Isle) was fun and adventurous. But Isle of Ember? It grabs your emotions and throws them in a blender.

You fall even deeper for Vivianne and the crew, and the action never stops. One second you’re laughing, then crying, then furious, then physically holding your breath. Guilt? Shock? Yearning? It’s all there and it hurts in the best way.

And let’s talk about the new characters: Nova, Dimitri, and Kalon. I fell hard for them. I want to say more, but I won’t spoil anything. Just know you’re in for it.

The worldbuilding in this book is fantastic!! The island of Ember and the Drakin, the fierce people who inhabit it, are captivating. Their culture is built on honor, tradition, strength, and sacrifice. You’re immersed in this stunning world born from volcanoes and dragon blood, and it feels real.

This story is high stakes and full of tension: painful yearning, slow burn romance, betrayals, and unlikely friendships. There were moments I wanted to smack Vivianne with the book and others where I was like, “Yes, we would 100 percent be besties.”
Oh, and of course… greasy Enyo shows his stupid face again. Ick.

I’m already emotionally bracing myself for Books 3 and 4.
I need more. Like, now!

“You take it one breath at a time. One step. And when that’s too much, you let the people who love you carry the rest.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 (rounded up for Goodreads)
🌶️

I need you all to get on board with The Enchanted Isles Series. In book 2 we pick right back up with the crew and how things ended in book 1.

Isle of the Ember introduces a whole new set of difficulties and characters including people who are Drakin, and my personal favorite, Kalon.

The love square - that’s right, forget love triangles - there are 3 men in love with Vivienne Banner. There is something to love about each one, but my favorite definitely became clear in this book. Now I have to wait to see who she truly ends up with. Please read asap and tell me who your fave is.

I don’t want to say a lot since this is book 2, but this series is such a fun, fast-paced fantasy that takes place on ships and islands. There is the aforementioned love square, gods, yearning and slow burn romance, and political intrigue.

Thank you to Alycia E. Anderson for the e-arc. All opinions are my own.

This book... just WOW!
I want to preface this by saying that I am not one of those reviewers that goes around handing out 5 stars left and right, but this book... Absolutely, 5 stars!

I fell in love with these characters and this storyline when I read Enchanted Isles and Isle of Ember was even better!!

This book takes you through all the emotions and experiences. I smiled, laughed, cried, and got angry. There is drama, suspense, tension, and yearning. This book has it all, and it is well written. I absolutely devoured this book and could not put it down.

I am so invested in these characters, and I love watching Vivienne grow into herself through everything she is experiencing and learning. The supporting characters really help make this book, and the tension between Thorne, Vivienne and Cirrus is just so on point. (I am solidly team Thorne!! I SO hope he is endgame!)

I need book 3 now!! I will 100% to salivating for each new book in this series. Definitely recommend reading this.

Thank you to Alycia E. Anderson and book sirens for the free eARC of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily. So glad that I was able to read this early!

Book 2 of the Enchanted Isles series has us traveling to another island. This island is a stark contrast from the first one. Where the Isle of Verdance was lush, and full of beauty, the Isle of Ember is a harsh volcanic island, fraught with danger at every turn. Will Vivienne be able to find the second tribute, or will the atrocities of King Berius make it impossible for the Drakin to trust her completely?

I want to thank Alycia Anderson and book sirens for an Advanced reader copy! This review is my own and I was not compensated for anything.

This book wrecked me! Not even a migraine stopped me from putting this book down! I loved how this book had a couple of different POV's that gave you a glimpse into what each character was feeling. The world building and character development was perfection! It was like I could feel each character's emotion. I didn't think this book could get better than the first one, but it definitely did!

WOW. WOWWWWWW. Yall. People - don't be sleeping on this series - it is FANTASTIC. With a second book that just builds on and is somehow even more impressive than the incredible debut, this is a series that you must get on your radar!!!

Alycia has created an incredible world - and this book especially shows you just how deep she has thought into her world building. I loved learning about the Drakin and their history and culture. I loved all the new characters we got to meet, and the entire last quarter of the book will have you racing to the end to see what happens.

(Also! There is scene early in the book where bisexuality and ace/aro rep is discussed - shoutout to Florence my aro/ace queen!! lol, without full naming it. I want to say that I love the casual inclusion of this. I am always here for fantasy books that include queernormative world building!)

If you're looking for something that gives you vibes of The Mummy, Indiana Jones, National Treasure, then this is perfect for you. There is great found family vibes, an amazing and strong FMC lead, great supporting characters, and this author has achieved the impossible - she's made me love a love triangle/square! LOL. (But really - Team Owen all day, every day!!)

Vivienne is on a quest to break a curse that has been cast on her home. She's on a voyage with her best friend, Lewis, plant nerd and golden retriever. Also with her is Cirrus, her ex-fiance, who she has rekindled her relationship with. And then there is Owen - oh the man that you are! I adore him and for me, he is who I want for Viv to be with.

They have reached the new island and encounter the people who live and rule there. I love all the characters! Nova is the princess and I just really liked her. Of course, they still have Enyo to contend with, someone who is also seeking the same artifacts, although with more nefarious goals in mind.

This series has jumped to the top of my list of favorites and I cannot wait for more in this series and from the author. Please check out this series, it's just amazing!

Adding the rest of my thoughts behind a spoiler cut b/c - spoilers. Also, I write things to help me remember where things are for the next book to refresh my memory.

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review. My thoughts are my own.

Oh. My. Gosh. I absolutely flipped over this book, it was everything I wanted and more!! Alycia Anderson seriously upped the game with Isle of Ember and I could not put it down.

The tension? Perfection. The yearning? Off the charts. (Yes, Owen, I am 100% looking at you. Team Owen forever, he better be endgame for Vivianne!!) I loved how the story kept me on the edge of my seat, making me laugh, swoon, and practically scream from the intensity of the emotions.

The new characters? Obsessed. Nova especially stole my heart (can we PLEASE get a love story with Nova and… well, you know who). Each new island feels so unique and alive, and Ember was no exception. The worldbuilding is phenomenal, fiery, dangerous, and utterly captivating.

What I love most is how this book balances action, politics, rebellion, and slow-burn romance without losing sight of the characters. Their banter, their struggles, their growth, it all felt so real and just made me fall even harder for this crew.

I’m raving, I know, but this was epic. Absolutely devoured it. Anderson has me hooked and I am salivating for book three. If you love high stakes, heartache, swoony romance, and a world that feels unlike anything else, you need this series in your life!! Thanks to the author for the gifted arc.

After the first book I’ve wanted more of the Thorne Banner and Cirrus love triangle. I think we all know who she should end up with. Will it happen? Who knows…
The story dragged slightly to start with, and it felt as if the last few chapters were just jam packed. It looks as though we will get a book per island, which is pretty standard, but praying it is not dragged out. Banner is definitely an incredible female main character. I love the banter and friendship between the crew which is really well written.
Did I cry? Yes
Did I laugh? Yes
Do I want more? Yes
Sat here eagerly awaiting book three now….

Isle of Ember didn’t just show up, it conquered.

This is the 2nd book in The Enchanted Isles series, and we find our crew on the island of Ember.

Things I loved about this second book:
✨FMC is really starting to come into her own. While I do think her choice of love interest is not the best choice for her, we all have to learn!
✨The new characters/island inhabitants we meet are amazing. If you did not feel like they were YOUR friends too by the end of the book, you just don’t have a soul.
✨As always, the witty banter between everyone is spot on. And when a book makes me shout out loud, I know it’s a good one.
✨Alycia’s style of writing to describe the set really makes you feel like you’re there. I swear I felt the heat from the volcano……
-✨Plot twist! Who doesn’t love a plot twist. I did not see that coming, and wow does that just open a huge door for the rest of the series.

Things I didn’t love:
✨Knowing I will never be able to have a pet Arachsylph because they’re not real.
✨Feeling like you are a part of the crew, then getting your heart ripped out.
✨Having to wait for the next book. Lack of patience is my character flaw.

Quote that stood out to me: “She’d always thought strength meant facing things alone. But maybe strength could be borrowed, shared. Maybe it came from knowing who would stand beside you in the dark and being brave enough to let them”
✨Let that sink in for a bit!

SO, if you like magic, mysterious islands, high seas adventure, edge of your seat moments, romance and just all around lovable characters, this is your series.

4.5 stars rounded up for Goodreads!
Thank you so much Alycia E. Anderson and Book Sirens for providing this ARC for me!

I absolutely loved Book 1, so I couldn’t wait to see where Book 2 would take us—and The Isle of Ember did not disappoint! Not only did we get to embark on another thrilling adventure with our beloved characters, but we were also transported to a brand-new setting: a treacherous volcanic island filled with danger at every turn. The Isle also introduced us to the Draken—humanoid beings with striking dragon-like features. But with King Berius’s brutalities looming over them, can Vivienne uncover the hidden tribute, or will the Draken find it impossible to fully place their trust in her?

Alycia E. Anderson once again delivered beautifully in Book 2, excelling in both world-building and character development. I felt an even deeper connection to the characters this time around, and every emotion—whether joy or heartbreak—came through so vividly.

Things I Loved About Book 2:
🥰 Owen — I wasn’t fully sold on him in Book 1, but I absolutely adored his character in this one!
⭐ Vivienne’s Growth — Watching her step into her own was such a highlight. Now we just need to have a chat about her taste in love interests, lol.
💬 The Banter — The witty exchanges between the characters were absolute perfection.
😭 Emotional Rollercoaster — Yes, some parts wrecked me, but I loved that the story could pull such strong emotions out of me.
🎉 Sequel Success — Honestly, this book was every bit as good as Book 1… maybe even better!

Things I Wasn’t a Fan Of:
✨ The painful reality that I’ll never get to be part of this crew.
✨ The even more painful reality that Owen doesn’t exist in real life.
✨ The torture of not having Book 3 in my hands right this second.

If you’re a fan of found family, enchanting yet dangerous islands, witty banter, unforgettable characters, and a touch of swoony romance—mark your calendars for September 2, 2025, and grab this book!

Alycia did it AGAIN! Book 2 of the Enchanted Isles Series was incredible.
IMPORTANT NOTE: You MUST read book 1 first. (I promise you won't regret it)

Book 2 takes us from the beautiful Isle of Verdance full of lush greenery and interested creatures to the Isle of Ember (in case that wasn't apparent based on the book name). The Isle of Ember is about as opposite as can be. Alycia paints a dramatic picture of volcanoes, rivers of molten lava, heat, smoke, ash, fire, dark, ominous, and intimidating.

Unlike Isle of Verdance, Isle of Ember the crew is greeted immediately by the inhabitants and hostility. It becomes quickly apparent that not only are the crew viewed as a threat, but there is unrest among the Drakins (the residents of Ember).

Book 2 is FULL of political drama. In addition to the unrest and the 'intrusion' of the Fendwyrian crew, we also see the Emperor of Ember and the Empress of Ember (his daughter) having opposing views to how to handle the crew of the Zephyrus.

And as we've all been waiting for based on the initial love triangle from book 1, the love triangle becomes more of a love mess. More people are added to this growing triangle and the roles begin to shift. We see so much more emotion among all those directly and indirectly involved with Vivienne. Vivienne gets some big emotional "smacks" through this story and I am (im)patiently awaiting book 3.

If you love adventure, fantasy, exploration, political intrigue, puzzle solving, slow burn romance, and drama - this series is for you.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series and gave it 5 stars, but giving this one 5 stars also just almost doesn’t seem fair because it surpassed book 1 by miles!! Book 1 was great, I had so much fun reading it and fell in love with the characters. Book 2… rooted into my soul and I fear this series will never let go. Some characters just ring true for you and for me, these do. They are real and raw and so relatable. The found family is beautiful but not perfect, they still have their flaws and their squabbles. The FMC, Vivienne, definitely has her share of flaws and makes plenty of mistakes. She’s not a perfect savior FMC who always does the right thing.

So many themes in this book hit hard for me but I won’t say too much because I want to avoid spoilers. I will share one of my favorite quotes though.

“But you don’t give up,” he continued, more to himself than to her. “You take it one breath at a time. One step. And when that’s too much, you let the people who love you carry the rest.” This quote ripped me open. It made me look at grief in a whole new way.

I say all this to say.. Alycia knows how to write a damn good fantasy story, but more than that she knows how to write REAL characters. Lots of books are good, or even great, but the ones whose characters take hold of you and become a part of you, that’s truly magical writing.

I will forever be a member of the Zephyrus crew. 💜

If you are looking for a fantasy that is going to break your heart, this book is for you. Hands down another 5 star read from Alycia.

Isle of Ember is the second book in The Enchanted Isles series. This follows Vivienne Banner and the crew of the Zephyrus to the next island, Ember, which is a volcanic island which is in contrast of the Isle of Verdance. Vivienne and the crew must find the second enchanted artifact to break a curse that has been placed on her homeland, but she becomes entangled into a more dangerous prophecy. During this time, she is trying to figure out her feelings towards everything. In her adventures, she makes new friends and suffers some setbacks. In the end, she earns the respect of the Drakin Emperor and develops a great relationship with the princess.

I loved the banter between the characters. There was so much character development with Lewis and the realization that he doesn’t love Vivienne as much as he thought. Not saying that he doesn’t love her but a different kind of love. I think once he realized that it was easier for him to really be there for her and help her through everything at the end of their quest on Ember. I also loved the flirtatious nature between Lewis and Nova.

The friendship that develops between Kalon and Vivienne. He was so protective of her even though she was to be a “guest.” The questions that they would ask each other was something that helped build their friendship. The letter that he wrote to her; it was everything a person would want from a true friend.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. (via the author)

4.5 stars

I figured going in Alycia was probably going to torture us in this based on editor comments she shared. I was correct.

I loved seeing the group together and the additions of Demetri, Nova, and Kalon! So many silly moments thanks to Lewis and his quips like saying he's handled plenty of wood and Demetri with his A+ nicknaming and pep talking of suggesting they return "less fragile." The end was a roller coaster and I guess I just have to wait?!

Only thing I did not like? Cirrus. Not a huge surprise since he wasn't my favorite in the first lol. He gave me so much ick. I felt like he loves the idea of Vivienne more than the actual Vivienne.

“Overreacting?” Her tone froze over, eyes narrowing into a glare. “I haven’t even begun to overreact.”
I know this mfer did not tell her she was overreacting.

Clearly still very much team Owen lmao.

Favorite quotes:

“Touch her again and I will run you through.”
Amber eyes narrowed as a derisive grin curved his lips. “Is that a threat?”
“It’s a fucking guarantee.”

“Restraint isn’t what comes to mind when I think of you.”
“So you’re thinking of me with unrestrained thoughts?”

“Real friends tell you when your head is so far up your ass, you’ve convinced yourself you’re nocturnal.”

"Those who can’t worship you in all your glory could never afford even a moment in your presence," he said, his voice a mix of awe and insistence. "Stop lending yourself to people who can’t manage the debt."

“She should be dead ten times over. But fate had spared her, and now, she would defy it again to bring him back.”

I was not expecting that to happen 😭

Book 2 in the Enchanted Isles series brings us to the island of Ember. Unfortunately our crew on the Zephyrus is not welcomed with open arms. Upon arriving amidst some political turmoil, the people of Ember do not welcome their people. And for a good reason they all soon learn. While connecting with the royal family to further learn what the artifact on Ember may be romance stirs, some old and some new, and love becomes more clear for those lost in their hidden feelings. While things begin to turn in the right direction a presence they least expect shows their face and begins to ruin their well built relationship with the royal family. Through the hard times their friendships hold them together. And by the end, their group has grown more even with the loss of a few. The ending brings us to the beginning of a new journey with added friends and a destination that carries more than one goal.

Anderson has done an amazing job with this series so far! The romance never overshadows the plot, yes it’s a part of the storyline but it’s not the WHOLE thing, and all of the characters are so lovable. The depth of knowledge you learn on Ember was amazing. I enjoyed the new race on Ember and Vivienne learning more of her new godsmark.
I LOVE the banter between all the characters!! Just as good as the first book 😆

Knowing we have plenty more islands to go I’m super intrigued to see where we go next and what’ll happen while there.

Thank you Alycia for having me on your ARC team 🫶🏼

I’ve had the amazing opportunity and privilege to arc read 2 of Alycia’s books and let me tell you, this author does not disappoint!

First off, I rated this book 4.5⭐️’s
The characters in this book are so easy to build connections with, I grew so attached to the new characters we met in this book. Alycia knows how to write characters to the point where you have no choice but to love them, the personalities, the humor, the connections being built was all amazing.

Second, I am not a fan of love triangles and this book was so heavy on the triangle. I will say I’m not happy with who our FMC ended up with but that’s what these triangles do which is absolutely genius! The romance was juicy, the drama was juicy, and we ever have new love interests introduced in this book.

Lastly, I cannot express this enough…. Alycia knows how to write the heck out of a fantasy book, the world building was so easy to get into, this book was so action packed and all the information that was being thrown at us was done in a way where i understood and I felt like I was in the know of it, I didn’t feel confused and that made it easier for me to get wrapped up in the story. I loved this book and I am so excited for the next book and the next adventure Vivi and the crew are setting sail on! Thank you Alycia for sending this arc and allowing me the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book!

Isle of Ember kicks off like a lit match to paper. Book two is packed with action, tension, and SO much emotional destruction. The yearning is next level, the angst? Chefs kiss. Vivienne and her tangled mess of admirers gave me everything and more.

She is not only admirable. She has grown into a stronger, sharper more resilient character, and following her journey into the fierce woman she is becoming is a joy all in its own.

The yearning in this book?! it's giving secret pining, open longing. That soul squeezing ache of wanting and wondering. Thorne?! My captain. My tragedy. A man with quiet devotion and aching restraint. He's so down bad!!

The worldbuilding was rich, the plot moved like wildfire, and the ending knocked the air out of my lungs. I have no idea how the next adventure is going to go, but i'm at the edge of my seat!

Think of National Treasure but make it deadlier. When you have an epic first book, the expectations for book two are high. Alycia has met those expectations and continues to deliver witty banter, slow burn romance, and adventure. She has also given us new characters to love, a new island to learn, and a new challenge for our crew.

This book has brought out some emotions in me, I laughed, I cried, and I had some WTF moments. The FMC Vivienne has pissed me off on more than one occasion, Commander Owen Thorne has made me swoon on more than one occasion, Lewis has made me laugh more times than not, and Cirrus has made me want to put him in a chokehold. The whole crew has become a tight knit unit and we get lots of banter between everyone.

I will definitely recommend Isle of Ember to those who love adventure, high stakes, and an excruciatingly slow burn romance (where they won’t admit feeling towards each other).

Oh my goodness, where do I even start? Isle of Ember is book 2 in Alycia Anderson's Enchanted Isles. The crew of the Zephyrus travel to the Isle of Ember to search for the second enchanted artifact that will help break a curse that was put on their homeland. This book had me hooked since page 1 and definitely had me in all my feelings. It made me happy, made me squeal with excitement, even made me cry (more than I'd like to admit). But mannnnn, I am so glad for the opportunity to read this amazing story! I got to fall in love all over again with the characters, and even fell in love with a few new faces. I cannot wait for the next adventure!

I wasn’t prepared to hurt this much 💔 I’m so broken and it hurts so much but I loved Isle of Ember more than I can say.

Watching Vivienne struggle with her heart and grow into herself was a story all in itself. She truly blossomed in this book. I’m hoping we get to see her spend more time with the gods mark in the next books! She clearly needs more practice (iykyk).

I will say I’m definitely not rooting for her current love interest and I think Kalon was right, well I hope he is.

I’m scared and excited and also hopefully that Vivienne can figure her heart out in the next book.

Thank you so much for the ARC and chance to read and review!

Wow! This book kept me on the edge of my seat, made me laugh, cry, ache for the characters.

This is book 2 of The enchanted Isles series.

I love learning about the characters personalities, and Alycia Anderson wrote about them so well you care (or not care so fondly) for them. Sometimes it can be heard to connect with Characters but this book made me do it, and in doing so broke my heart.

I love the found family that is being created and Vivienne’s growth in each book.

There is action, adventure, love, heartbreak, banter, this book has it all!

And the description that is going on, it feels like you are there with them.

I am really excited for book 3 Isle of Echoes and the next adventure.

Thank you to Alycia E Anderson and Book Sirens for the gifted eARC!!

The Isle of Embers was one of the best reads of this year. It starts right where Enchanted Isles left off but this time we are on a new island with new threats. I fell in love with these characters in Enchanted Isles and couldn’t wait to see what adventures they would get into and where their story would lead. I can honestly say they had one heck of a journey and I wasn’t prepared with how it ended.

This book is filled with adventures and it has kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I couldn’t put the book down and finished it in one day. There were times I wanted to scream at the characters on why they were doing something but I kept right on being dragged into the story line. This book was so exciting and enjoyable I can’t wait to see where Alycia Anderson takes us in the next book.

I received a copy of this book via Booksirens and am voluntarily leaving a review.

And she does it again! Drakin, ancient curses, vengeful Gods, the slowest of slow burns…

Isle of Ember made me scream, cry, (almost) throw my book at the wall, GIGGLE, stop breathing, and fan myself in an almost endless cycle but… in the best way? There truly was never a dull moment within these pages and I don’t think it will ever not amaze me how easy it is to fall into the story with the crew. Each time I’ve picked up one of Alycia E. Anderson’s books it has felt like I was walking right alongside the characters, experiencing every emotion and moment with them. Between the increased banter, the higher stakes situations, the many “will they, won’t they” moments, and the absolute gut-wrenching, emotional rollercoaster of an ending (you know what you did, Alycia 😭) that all leaves you needing more, I think this series just might be one of the best of the year!

If you loved the first book then you will absolutely love this one. There's so much hope but heartache as well. This book broke me and I can't wait for the next one to help me pick up the pieces! A true work of art.

oh, what a RIDE!

This second book brings even more adventure then the first.

We land on the Isle of Ember and meet the local inhabitants, the race of Drakins. A human/dragon hybrid WITH WINGS. 🐉

Vivianne is still on her quest to find her parents and the elusive tribute that the Drakin empire may or may not be "hiding". Hemming and hawing over her romantic choices. Wouldn't you know it that repulsive Enyo is around again too. 🙄

Alycia has done it again, ripped my heart out and stamped on it but all while introducing beloved new characters. (Kalon 🫶😢)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

If you love an adventure, then this book is definitely for you.
Banter is one of my favorite things in a book and this one had me in a chokehold. She did such an amazing job writing this book. I am so thankful that I received an arc copy of book 2. Thank you so much Alycia.

I did not expect our FMC to end up with who she ended up with . I seriously cannot wait until the next book. This book makes you feel all sorts of emotions. You can clearly tell how much passion the author puts into her books.

My favorite quote
(( “ touch her again and I will run you through.”
“Is that a threat?” “ it’s a fucking guarantee”))

"I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.” The Isles of Ember takes us to the next island in the journey. Unlike the lush and beautiful Isle of Verdance, this new land is a harsh volcanic terrain filled with danger at every turn. Vivienne must face these trials in her search for the second tribute but with King Berius scheming in the background, will Drakin be able to fully trust her? Read this second book asap! 💛
