Point of No Return

Rate this book
Full of seething, sensual shadows and hidden faces, the annual Masquerade Ball at Lymbo Resort is one event anyone would sell their soul for.

One night a year, impiety and temptation take center court at the invitation only event hosted by the mysterious Avan Noxturna. Decadent darkness, burning lust, and wicked intentions hide behind innocent masks in the most innocuous places.

The fires of hell may blaze hot, but the flames of passion consume common sense when obsessive memories escape to ignite an inferno of intimate bliss that will sear both saint and sinner.

Born on the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous,Torie is the illegitimate love child of Han Solo and Daenerys Targaryen. Rescued by Gandalf shortly before her home planet was destroyed in the last days of the Clone Wars, she was raised in relative obscurity by her foster parents, Severus Snape and Pippi Longstocking. At the tender age of 113, she inherited the best little whorehouse in Texas and is rumored to be bringing Sexy Back. A self confessed chocoholic, she's been engaged to Willy Wonka despite gossip surrounding a lifelong affair with Bruce Wayne.

And clearly, she practices delusion on a daily basis.

The truth is, I'm just an overgrown kid with a vivid imagination who loves to write and share my crazy with the world. My future plans include, hopefully, buying a lovely Scottish castle and convincing Queen Elizabeth I that I'd make a fab addition to the Royal Family.

Three years ago, I finally got my 'brave' on and submitted a wee story about true love, honor, friendship and the magic within us all. That story was Timeless Night, the first book in a five book series I've named New Camelot. Since then, I've been lucky enough to have published Timeless Desire (Book 2 of New Camelot), Beauty and The Feast (A New Camelot Thanksgiving Novella) Ties That Bind (The Cloie Chronicles I), Fractured Fantasies (Valentine's Venom), Fractured Fantasies (Volume 1) and Fractured Fantasies (Volume Two). Volumes 3, 4 and 5 are coming soon!

I will not lie. I loved this book. An author must quickly get the reader’s attention and hold it, especially in a short story, and Ms. James certainly did that. From the concept to the way that she gives you just a tease into her characters, you will be glad that you read Point of No Return.
Torie James’ wicked sense of humor is evident from the opening scene with God and Lucifer spending an afternoon on earth. She had me laughing out loud as I envisioned that. And then there is Avan and Jareth. Without giving away their little twist, I will say that those two are H.O.T. Needless to say when I finished I was like, “Nooooooooo! It’s too soon!” But then I remembered hearing that this is just a start. So breathing a big sigh of relief, I will wait with bated breath for the next installment of Avan and Jareth’s story.
If you’ve never read Torie James, here’s your chance. If you have, you won’t be disappointed.

Review:
This flirt was smoking hot and I couldn't put it down. The start of what I am told will be a much longer story, I am eager to read more. The voice was snarky, the characters wonderful and the stage Torie James has set with her angels and demons makes me wish for an invitation to this party. The seven deadlies really do have the most fun...but I want more right now.

Like right now-I howled when I got to the last page. Must have more. Torie you have to write faster woman!

I loved this little teaser flirt, the pre-quel to what I'm told will be a bigger story. I can't wait to read what Torie James has in store next for these characters. This was such a great hooking bite with sensual characters, a plot I'm dying to know more about, and tempting backgrounds I can't wait to get to know better. Don't be late to the party- read it now...

The cover of Point of No Return states it’s a paranormal but also A Breathless Press Halloween Flirt and flirt it did. At only 23 pages there was a lot of story told all set on Halloween. It starts out sounding like trash talk but the double meanings are hiding the real conversation until you read more because the two characters are talking about something innocuous – golf! There are double meanings and play on words throughout as we meet God and the Devil who are best friends – Nonie and Lucifer. Avan is the only daughter of Lucifer and the story centers around her and the annual Halloween Gala and Fundraiser she holds. It’s held at the Lymbo Resort which has seven floors – Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Sloth, Wrath, Envy and Pride – representing the seven sins. Jareth and she have a past and a future if the story is to be believed. He’s the son of God but the one no one knows about.

There is lust and steam, passion, dirty talk, family and friends, coworkers, angels and demons, swearing and sex – no romance, no love! There are a lot of descriptions of the carnal act, the costumes, her sexual reactions, their bodies and facial expressions. There also are mention of the different angels and saints in passing. The message is don’t say you’ll sell your soul for anything since someone might just be listening! There was closure but the story was entirely too brief.

I have not read books by this author before and I’m not usually a fan of paranormals but this was an enjoyable quick read. I will give one or two of her other books a try to see if any are longer in length.

A very interesting and very vivid Halloween story! I entered into this book looking forward to an interesting "Devil's advocate" type tale, but I hadn't expected quite the luscious masquerade tale and intricately-balanced yin-and-yang story that Ms. James whipped up. Colorful characters draw you in, and pull you along into a story you deeply wish to continue. I'll admit I'm quite taken with Avan, and I really look forward to see more of her stories come along in the future!

Great Short Read

Once again Torie James has a way of adding her unique sense of humor to an unusual setting. While a short read, I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline and wish it would have been longer.
