Meeting her father’s handsome protégé sets Caitlin Wheeler’s weekend away on an exciting new course. Neal Dietrich is intelligent, engaging, and everything she won’t admit to looking for in a man.
Neal wants her but the similarities between him and her father are unnerving - starting with their closets of skeletons that run deeper than she could’ve imagined.
The more Caitlin unearths the clearer it becomes: she never knew her father and she may not be ready to know Neal.
Zelda Reed has never met a glass of whiskey she didn't love. A Los Angeles native, she moved to the windy city of Chicago to complete a degree in Fiction Writing before falling head over heels for every romance novel she could find. Writing is her passion and she lives for making her readers happy, using her novels to spread a little more love in the world.
This is the second book in the Inheritance series. You need to read the first book before you'd have any idea what's happening in this one. Volume two picks up soon after volume one ended.
I love Caitlin. She is confused about what she wants, but she is smart too. She knows exactly what her recently departed father did for a living, and she knows just enough about Neal Dietrich to know he is too much like her father for her comfort. But, in spite of all that, she is irresistibly drawn to Neal. She can't seem to stay away from him, even if she knows it's the best thing for her.
Zelda can really write a steamy sex scene. If I had any complaint, it's that she does not write enough of them in this volume. But the scenes that do exist are toe curling sexy.
Some mysteries from the first volume are explained, but more mysteries are discovered. You are left wanting more, which I think is a good thing. I can't wait for volume three which is due to be published in November. I'm really glad Zelda is not stretching these episodes out longer.
Trust me, you are going to want to pick up The Inheritance series. You won't regret it.
3.5 stars until the serial is finished. I recommended the first volume. Now...
After reading this second volume, I am getting a little reader-giddy that this story could turn into something.
I still think Caitlin delays signs of pseudo-autism when it come to dealing with people in her post-father world. She's the observer, but doesn't know how to confidently navigate a world that she herself is fast becoming an integral part of.
But she is daring, I'll give her that.
She's supposed to be a boring school teacher. She is supposed to want to go back to her life after her father's death. Yet, just when her voice is telling the reader that is what she will do, the next chapter has her throwing caution to the wind and either retracing her father's footsteps or tearing up the sheets and panties with Neil Dietrich, a man she has incredibly simple but contagious chemistry with.
Neil quietly stalks around the ground that Caitlin should fear to read, but like a fool she goes towards the fire feet first and it is getting ON and POPPIN'
This series isn't for me, but I started it so I'm going to finish it.
Caitlin Wheeler is a long way from the school teacher we met in the first book, she's spent longer in Chicago than she wanted to and spends more time with the dark and mysterious Neil Deitrich, a wealthy businessman who was given her father's company upon his death.
There are lots of unanswered questions like how does her father die that have piqued my curiosity. There are too many questions and not enough answers. I'm glad these serials are not so long.
