Well…Xavier Neal has done it yet again! Deaf was just as good as Blind was!!! As this book opens, Logan and Maxx are slowly taking their relationship to the next level, at least each one thinks they are. However, Logan is still fighting his fear of commitment, and Maxx is struggling with her fear of losing him, not only as a potential boyfriend but as her best friend. So, of course, many misunderstandings, anger, and hurt feelings ensue. Will these two ever be able to put their fears aside and move forward to a life together?
Again, Xavier really connects her characters with her readers. We are, again, one of their most trusted confidantes. While I still absolutely LOVE, LOVE Logan and Maxx, I wanted to take them both in the ring and beat the hell out of them. They are both so stubborn and won’t break down that last, most intimate, and painful wall that is keeping them apart. They do spend a good portion of the book misunderstanding each other and fighting, they also spend a great deal of time in hot, heavy, sexy, and steamy make-up sessions too. By the middle of the book, they seem to really be on the road to establishing their relationship as “boyfriend and girlfriend.” Without saying too much, Logan is making small strides in moving to the next level with Maxx, like buying new sheets. Hey, that might not sound like a huge gesture for you, but it’s a great, big gesture for Logan. Of course, readers get to catch up with the sexy Erin and sweet Luke. I love these two characters as well. Most importantly, I got to see the scared, little boy come out in Logan…a totally different side to him. Logan is slowly maturing from a selfish, ego-centric guy into a more caring, less selfish man. Again, not happening overnight, but it’s progress.
Xavier has me hooked on this group of characters. I feel like every single one of them are a part of my family. When I was driving in my car, I was thinking about these characters and couldn’t wait to get back home to immerse myself into the story that is Logan and Maxx. Very, very emotional ending and one heck of a cliffhanger, but I LOVED IT!!!! And, you will not have to wait long because Numb releases this week!!!! YAY!!!
