Awww…I wanted to like this one. I really did! 🥺

Let’s start with the pros:
Gorgeous cover
Loved the artwork it came with
Loved the writing style—easy to read
The creativity and lore aspect with vampires and witches. I found the Hugo’s lost reflection rather clever. Those are what truly helped keep me reading. :3

I’ve gotten 200 pages in, but then I felt like I was forcing myself to read.

So here’s why I couldn’t finish. I feel like absolutely nothing for the characters? I feel sad that I don’t. The first book, I felt all kinds of things. But when couples get together in the first book, it feels hard to get into the 2nd book without some kind of romantic tension. (This is just a personal preference for me.) I kinda cringed at the spicy parts with some repetitive words for it. I feel like there’s no emotional connection HOW the characters fell in love. No build up. It has angst, but hard to feel anything without the emotional build up. Speaking of the first book, felt rushed why Alice and Hugo fell in love. I wish it wasn’t on looks, but a connection much deeper. Maybe it’s the development lacking.

I’m sad because I’ve loved Alice. Hugo makes me angry, tbh. Maybe I just don’t like book that rush into the romance without some sort of tension. 😅 I felt kinda weirded out when Hugo felt excited when Sylvia was touching him. Felt off-character when he hates her. Felt like the characters all have the same characteristics: winking.

A lot of moments felt too out of place. So I feel like if you want emotional tension and build up, the book wouldn’t be for you. But if you like angst and lots and LOTS of flirting, it’s for you.

I like books that take me on an emotional rollercoaster. I’m sorry I couldn’t get into it! 😭😭😭 I’d feel bad to leave a review without rating it. I didn’t hate it, though! Just wasn’t my cup of wine. (Pun)

✨ Okay but… who gave this book the right to be THIS unhinged and addictive?! ✨

Wow. This went places I absolutely wasn’t expecting! I didn’t even read the synopsis before diving in — I finished book 1 by CM Mason and immediately jumped straight into this one because self‑control is clearly not my strong suit 😅📚

🗓️ We pick up a year later with Alice and Hugo living together, settling into their new normal… until new neighbors move into Hugo’s old house. That’s when the bizarre, the creepy, and the what‑the‑actual‑hell moments start rolling in. These neighbors want Alice’s Love Spell — and they’re willing to cause chaos all over town to get it.

🪖 Soon it’s an all‑out war between the neighbors, and the consequences? Catastrophic. Dramatic. Deliciously messy. I’m already itching for the conclusion in book 3 because this series has been such a fun ride with just the right amount of angst. 🖤✨

And the best part? The whole series is on Kindle Unlimited! Plus, if you grab the Audible versions, you can use immersive reading and follow along — my favorite way to stay hooked. 🎧📖

A captivating story line

I hated how Hugo ended. Alice should have brought him back. Their love was for all time! I love how she got them all in the end though! I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one!

A fun follow up to the Neighborhood Witch. Love the nods to Alice in Wonderland. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
