Mia sits alone on the edge of a bridge, watching the dark, mysterious waters below. Bored with the banality of life, she wonders when the fire in her blood will be reignited. She won't wait long...
Mistakenly assuming she's a jumper, a ruggedly handsome motorcyclist lends a hand, and instantly an irrevocable bond between them is forged. Caleb is different - otherworldly, and almost supernaturally attractive - but the more that Mia discovers about her new lover, the more he seems to shy away, especially when he notices her increasingly unusual behaviour around him, and the mysterious birthmark on her body.
Little does Mia know that her hitherto ordinary life is about to change forever; she's about to find out that Caleb is no ordinary man, and that she herself is certainly no ordinary woman...

So eyes full of tears she tossed him and all his things out immediately, then after weeks of tears and feeling lost she decides to live a little dangerously. Caleb sees a woman who seems about to throw herself off the bridge, calling her down he is amazed at how beautiful she is, Mia is shocked at the strength of the stranger, and feels like after listening to her story the least she can do is hop on his harley and go for a ride and a drink. After seeing each other regularly, she is still amazed at Caleb and that he finds her attractive, but as well his strength and his preoccupation with always being busy on days with full moons. And what about her, what is with the strange dreams and change in her diet? The doctors say she is fine, but she knows she is not. Caleb says he has a friend who may be able to explain and help her. What secret is he hiding and what does he know about her?
This was a fast read being only 70 some pages and well written. I would recommend it for those who enjoy this type on novel.
I love the beginning of this book. I would have lacked to have seen more about their dates and maybe getting to know each other better. I was very unprepared for the cliffhanger at the end.
Mia is depressed. Her boyfriend Gary called her fat and then had the, nerve to tell her she was ok for just sex but not marriage material. So what does she do goes to a bridge and watch the water she stands up and gets on the edge of the bridge thinking she needed some excitement to calm her depression, that's when a sexy man asks if she's going to jump she says no but needs help to get down from where she was standing. He asks if she'd like to get on his bike for a ride she accepts when before they go he asks her name as she him to find out its Caleb. She takes the ride of her life. Need to read won't be able to put down till it's finished
Because of the style of writing everything seemed to move so so so slowly which made the book boring and dull. I think if there was more dialogue and less internal monologues the story would have flowed better
It was an okay book, very short I finished it in about an hour. And it started out pretty good, I was really getting into the chemistry the two main characters had and was looking forward to a nice build up as they had just met. But then the author just skipped all that and it just kind of fizzled out. at least a good third of the book is just sex (and it's really not a long book), and these sex scenes continue to just popped up interrupting some very interesting plot progression, I found myself just kind of glancing through these parts to get into more of the actual plot.
More over, I really couldn't connect with the heroine, she continuously says she's always been confident, that she's never worried about the way her body looks. But she then continues to mention over and over how she wasn't skinny, how she was more on the curvy side, and really by the second time she mentions it I found myself thinking 'um...yeah you already said that.'
In the end I forced myself to finish reading the book, hoping I could actually find a plot to it other than continuous sex scenes (that kinda felt like the same scene over and over with different words), but unfortunately it ended with a cliff hanger that didn't really intrigue me enough to find the next book.
All in all, if your looking for a book that is mainly just sex, with little plot, this would be a good pick. Personally not my cup of tea.
Really the only thing to say here is that I wish it had been longer. It was a pretty interesting read, though admittedly not a whole heck of a lot happened (hence wishing there was more), but what did happen kept my attention for the short time it took me to read it.
After Mia got over mopping about Gary, things got very interesting. I'm glad we just got the tail end of her pity-party though, because anymore whining about Gary's ridiculous behavior towards her and I would have threw the book across the room.
The relationship between Mia and Caleb was instantaneous and totally combustible. Very hot, those two. I wish I had gotten to see more into their relationship though, besides the basic summary we received of their progressing weeks together and the endless sex-feasts they indulged in.
I want to see something a little more substantial from the next book in this series, though I fear just how much substance one can fit into a less-than-fifty-page book.
Please don't waste your time with this book. Your life is more valuable than that. This book...*sighs*...though not the worst book I've ever read, it is definitely in the top 10 worst. Most of the reason, though not all, of why it's bad is the horrible writing. I'm a writer, and I know it takes guts to put your book out there, but at least try to make it a tab better. Take a writing class, something. Because of the bad writing, she made her lead female seem to be an ignorant, air-headed slut. And that's fine if that was the intention, but it was oh so painfully obviously NOT the author's intention.
Add that to a very unoriginal plot, and her trying to shove all these "important" ideas in the story when it obviously doesn't work or make sense...Let's just leave it at the fact that I do not like this story and don't recommend it in the least. It leaves A LOT to be desired.
I'm not used to being stunned and disappointed with any book I chose. However, there is a first time for everything. I have to say the only good I saw in this book was the very detailed sex scenes. To me she has no background to the characters and you feel like you know nothing all the time. I for one felt like I was just dropped in this hole and then had a bunch of sex thrown at me. Don't get me wrong I do love those things but I like to really get to know my characters. I want love, laugh, and cry with them. I don't want to run through a book like it's for school or something. Then she cuts it off with a really bad cliffhanger?? Seriously?? You don't know anything but her nonchalant inner monologue and then it cuts you off in sentence!! Wth!! I understand why this was free now. I will not be reading any other things by her. If you liked it, more power to you.
This book had me from page one to the last page. The book is an easy read. Mia was me at one time. Ex boyfriend emotionally abusive. Felt like all is her fault when it's not. The way she decided that she needs to change her life but her choice isn't safe for her then the perfect guy comes along to save her. Caleb seemed suspicious since he saved Mia at the bar. They make the cutest and hottest couple. I was completely shocked when Caleb took Mia to a bar that turned out to be all werewolves and now she is part werewolf but what else is she? To found out soon!!!
Very predictable. Not too interesting either. There’s not much here. Don’t see the reason for being a novella.
Mya just had a bad break up. She meets Caleb and sleeps with him that same night. They develop a “relationship”. Meanwhile, Mya experiences changes in her body which can’t be scientifically explained. However, after explaining to Caleb the “symptoms” of her “ailment” he takes her to a “friend” who will “diagnose” her. The end.
Good book! Short book though descriptive and entertaining, spontaneous Mia and Caleb connection with each other of love and passion. Then Mia finds out at the end that she and Caleb are werewolves, I think if to anything at this moment she is confused and her question is why. But the book is good and I would want to read the next book.
Although the "book" had potential, it is a case of a story half done. It appears they took one book and decided to pull out sections to turn it into a series. Don't get me wrong, I like books that leave you eager for the next installment, but a book should have some completion to the story it is telling and not leave you wondering where the rest of the book is.
This was seriously too rushed and about 80% of the book has nothing but sex. I know this is an erotic paranormal romance but it had too much erotica and too less of paranormal/werewolf related parts and the latter is what I really wanted to read....
Loved the plot and how the story pulls you in. Caleb is delicious. Nicely written Short Erotica that is quick paced to keep you entertained. Short story that leaves you hanging until the next read... I'm hooked!
Found this book to be a incredibly short boring read. It's easy to predict what it's going to happen and the book lacks substance. The plot or story line falls short of interesting. If you are looking for a good read avoid this book.
packed full of what seems to be the start of a good story, I read it in one sitting as its very short, but it left me wanting to read more. a little disappointed reading the blurb of book 2 though. I will read it but it makes me lose a little interest at the fact she so easily switches up her bf.
This book was ok it was interesting and kinda leaves ya hanging Ps. What happens when Mia meets a hot stranger who is extremely strong? What happens when Mia has odd changes happening to her when doctors say she's completely healthy?
Cliffhanger ending. I liked this book for the most part but there was a lot of inner dialogue that sucked. Wish I'd have know it was a CH and I wouldn't have started it. It is a short story that doesn't finish.
This is my first story by Bethany Rousseau and it most definitely will not be my last. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. I will be recommending this book to anyone and everyone!
Steamy! First one in a series. Mia is not a jumper, but Caleb rescues her anyway! Her birthmark and other things start to change as their relationship progresses.
