Quacking ducklings. Bleating lambs. Cheeping chicks. On the Farm offers up a fun, foundational introduction to the sounds of six barnyard animals that are sure to fascinate every preschool learner. Simple, rhythmical text introduces the baby and adult forms of each creature by describing the sounds they make to communicate with one another. Detailed illustrations, meanwhile, provide a colorful backdrop of the developing farm scene. Set within a durable board book format, this is a title all young readers will talk about!
On the Farm contains the following farm animals: cows, chickens, ducks, horses, sheep, and pigs. Overall, I liked it. A parent can read the text, make animal sounds, or have a child interact with the sounds once they learn it. It would be an excellent book to learn about baby animals or reinforce animal sounds. I also like the locations on each page. It's a little extra information to increase vocabulary. Finally, the images are beautiful and, most importantly, realistic.
Recommended age: 0-2 years
Writing style: Each page has the same format. A baby animal makes a sound at the adult animal while performing some action where it lives. For example, "Duckling quacks at ducks swimming in the pond."
This book made both me and mom happy. I liked the beautiful pictures of animals that I recognise, and fun sounds for mom to make. mom likes it because it is full sentences and both the adult and baby animal names are used. after we were done reading, I kept flipping through the pages and pointing at the pictures, and mom would make the sounds or tell me the animal names.
1/10/17 dad read this to me tonight. it is a good book!
