WOW - what a totally delightful book! Come on everyone take a good look! It carries on updating readers on this 'yoooo-neek pig' and shares some very pertinent advice and life lessons, showing he cares. With a very positive, 'can do' attitude to inspire readers, young and old, And beautiful, endearing illustrations this story is told In a manner that will appeal and help youngsters, too The main story in this book is told in rhyme Definitely a winner for me, every time! So take a look and read it, please do And you'll find all I've said is really true! This book isn't published till November this year Just in time to celebrate and spread Christmas Cheer. I highly recommend it as a gift to share With any little one for whom you have a care. I had an ARC, please let me explain And say thanks to the publishers and NetGalley again For letting me have a copy to read now Again, hope you enjoy it - I think its a WOW!
How to Roll Like Chris P. Bacon by Len Lucero is the second book about the plucky little pig that was born with malformed hind legs but taken in by a veterinarian and trained to walk with a special cart. Little Chris P. Bacon is cheerful in the face of adversity and lives with gusto. He curiosity and supportive family make this series an inspiring and fun read. This installment encourages readers to live life with the openness and cheerfulness that is evident in my favorite little piglet.
How to Roll Like Chris P. Bacon is a charming and inspirational book that encourages readers to face each day with courage and joy. Taking chances, doing new things, and being a good friend are the key elements to the suggestions in the book. The pictures of Bacon’s adventure and the cartoon like illustrations add a charm and sense of fun to the book. I felt a bit like the grinch reading the book, with my heart growing three sizes as I read. It was sweet, inspirational, and heart warming.
How to Roll Like Chris P. Bacon is a sweet follow up to the first book, but does not hold the same power. I would suggest the book for fans of Chris P. Bacon. It is heart warming and gave me a nice warm feeling as I read.
There's nothing you can criticize or not love about this children's book. Great ideas, cool art, bright colors, but best of all it empowers kids. Positive thinking, self-reliance and acceptance, taking care of others; all are spoken of in a fun, interesting way. What my son enjoyed most was the detail in the art. Because of the many animals that live with Chris and Len, there's a lot going on, a lot you don't notice right away. So it makes the book fun to just sit with awhile and bond with your kid. If you liked the first Chris P. Bacon book, this is a no-brainer, you'll love this one too. I was hesitant to admit that I'm so left brain oriented, that after reading and reviewing the first Chris P. Bacon book, I totally missed the fact that his name is a pun. Doh! However, learning to not take yourself too seriously is one of the lessons the new book teaches. Great lesson for a kid of any age. I received a free, review copy of the book from Hay House. I wasn't financially compensated in any way, and the opinion expressed in this review is my honest assessment.
Disclaimer: I received a free ARC from NetGalley, under a different title How To Roll Like Chris P. Bacon.
Just in case you've never seen the adorable Chris P. Bacon (My favorite part of the video is around 3:30, when Chris P. Bacon drinks from a bottle!) in action, the title character is a real-life piglet who relies on a "wheelchair" mechanism because he was born without the use of his back legs.
In his second book, Chris P. Bacon (the name is just too cute!) shares inspiring advice in the form of short poems paired with funny illustrations. Children will read about being kind to one another, having fun, and appreciating what makes them "yoooo-neek."
At the end, Chris P. Bacon shares a cookie recipe called Pigs in Mud and some real-life photos of himself!
I expected this to be true adventures of Chris P. Bacon and was confused when the illustrations personified him and had him doing actions that are impossible for a pig (dangling from a hot air balloon driven by his barnyard friends? baking cookies?). Without the introductory and concluding materials that show him as a real pig, this would have been a very cute book with good messages for kids. But the aforementioned materials that prove he's a real pig just made the rest of the book confusing.
LOVE this book! I was fortunate enough to get ARC's of this as well as the first book. This is another winner by Len Lucero. We will definitely be adding this to our collection. Our patrons love Chris as much as I do. And not just the children, the adults LOVE him. Absolutely fantastic books!!
