Dennison #1

Afraid to Fall

Rate this book
Jaded and hardened by the ultimate of betrayals, Clearwater Falls Sheriff Gage Dennison is content with his simple, detached life.

With only his loyal dog at his side, Gage has successfully maintained the walls he's built around his life and heart for eight years. From his secluded house at the end of a private road, to the solitude of a small town sheriff, he has no trouble keeping everyone just where he wants them - at a distance.

But Gage soon learns his walls are not as solid as he thought them to be.

Despite all his efforts, and against his will, Gage's new neighbor Delaney Collins threatens to crack his once-impenetrable walls.

Unprepared for the constant verbal sparring, and growing physical attraction to Delaney, Gage is suddenly fighting an internal war he never expected. His brain and reason insist he keep his distance, but his body refuses to listen. Especially when the lure of her warm, willing body soothing his bruised and battered soul is too much to resist.

As the demons of his past are revealed, will Gage crumble under the weight of his fear? Or will he find the strength necessary to tear down his walls and hold on to the only woman that offers him a second chance at love?

I live in New England with my young family. I'm a stay at home mom to two very active children. For all of you who are familiar with the stress of this job, I decided to complete an item on my bucket list and write a book. When I'm not writing, you will find me cooking, reading, shopping or being silly with the kids.

I wish you all happy reading and hope you fall in love with the men of Hamden.

I almost disliked the hero--he was way too screwed up over something that happened in his past. This guy really needed therapy because he had severe trust issues. I kept thinking 'get over it already, it's been years…'

Anyhow, I really liked the heroine (until the end when she couldn't forgive...)
I liked the sexual chemistry between the H/h, the overall story and it did make me tear up a bit...
So...4 stars.

Not bad but not great, I have been busy and while reading this book I found it easy to just do other things instead of read this one. The H is a JERK yes but I will say he makes up for it and I completely believe he groveled for it, he was practically comatose while she was away. The h and her son is all the H cares about. This book wasn't bad at all just a nice read.

So much drama.

He’s a bitter, angry d!ck, treats her horrendously and each time she walks away, he begs for forgiveness and for her to stay.

Everything leads back to his adulterous ex-wife and his best friend, all his anger, bitterness and trust issues. It’s been 8 years, maybe it’s time to move on.

She’s a much stronger character, but she’s a bit of a placeholder, the person he works all his crap on to finally move on.

Honestly, he’s not worth it, why would anyone put up with his crap.

Why 3 stars? No clue, probably for the OTT dramatics in the last chapter and maybe I’m feeling generous.

Spoiler warning

I am writing this review a couple of hours after finishing the book. I am still a little pissed about it to be honest. Before the last 25% I would have given the book a five star rating and the review would be about how good the book was. But Delaney started to get on my nerves after that point.

First of all, sometimes she was a big hypocrite. It's ok for her to focus on one of the ten things Gage says, but when Gage does the same to her, she is all "Is that the only thing you heard?! I don't believe you!". I didn't like that, nor I agree with that attitude.

Gage has scars and I get that. I wasn't so mad at him as I think I should have been, but towards the end of the story Delaney was a bigger source of anger. I got mad at her because she kept from Gage and us that she was still having contact with Richard. Not once did she mention him other than when she talked to Gage about Jacob's father and yet later it is revealed that she was talking to Richard during the events of the book. I couldn't blame Gage for getting angry when he found that out. Delaney knew he had issues and yet she didn't breath a word. I know that it was her business what she did, but she could have said a word and not let everyone think that she had no contact with anyone from her city life.

To be fair Gage was not an angel. He has some big issues that he hadn't solved and they were getting in the way of his relationship with Delaney. He wasn't acting all the times, rationally and he was getting the worst kind of possessive. Both characters have their issues, but they work them out together.

Delaney, Gage and Jacob were a very sweet family together and I can't wait to see them in the next books been a happy family. I loved the Dennison family and I will be reading their books when they are released. I am starting to ship Molly and Hunter so I want their book next. I am pretty sure they are going to be the next couple to get their happy ending.

The thing I loved the most was the ending when Delaney came back to Gage and he didn't have to chase her. Ok, he tried to fix things with her first, but for me what Dalaney did counted more that anything. That's what stayed in my mind when I finished the book.

I am recommending this to all the romance readers. Sometimes I feel like an old lady who complains constantly. The book is very good and well written. Delaney is a great mother and Jacob is too cute (at least in my mind). The romance is good, but you should know that Gage tends to push people away.

Gage Dennison, the town Sheriff of Clearwater Falls is used to his solitary life. He was not expecting a city girl with a baby to end up as his neighbor. And he certainly was not expecting to be attracted to her. He has deep seated trust issues and a chip on his shoulder. He has his reasons, but his past has prevented him from really enjoying life. He has his job and family, but he is not really happy.

Delaney moved to Clearwater Falls to change her whole life in order to give her son a better one. She is feisty, strong and capable. And she challenges Gage to come out of his comfort zone. But she has also been burned in the past so has difficulty trusting as well.

Initially their interactions are often abrupt, cold, confrontational, and just plain awkward. Gage is drawn to her but is a master of pushing people away. He can flirt and be sweet, then turn himself back off. And she has her own set of issues. And she could either be his worst mistake or his salvation. But he'd have to give her a fighting chance first.

Just because you swore you'd never go down the rabbit hole again, Dennison, doesn't mean you can't consider the possibility.

As they finally begin to admit their attraction and build feelings, they are still challenged by demons from both of their pasts. And no matter how much they both may want to start over, if trust cannot be established then it could be hopeless.

I had mixed feelings about this couple at times. At first, their tentativeness at pursuing something was kind of fun and challenging since they both were afraid. Gage was a bit hard to warm up to. In his quest to avoid connections, he could be rude and standoffish. He had huge walls up with barb wire on top and did not open a gate easily. But I enjoyed finding his inner softness, vulnerability, and sweetness when he showed it. But he also frustrated me with his fear, insecurities, trust issues, and impulsive behavior that often got him in trouble. He had a good heart, but had been burned and needed reassurance.

"I'm not going to change, Delaney, whether you want me to, or not. You need to accept me the way I am, or not at all."

And she could be stubborn and impulsive as well. Sometimes she lacked tolerance for Gage's issues, but then others she seemed to forgive quickly. But I understood her wanting him, but also needing him to really trust her.

"Life shouldn't be about your fear of taking the fall it should be about enjoying the ride. Instead, you've made it your mission to be afraid to trust in me to catch you."

They both definitely had issues to work on. So at times, I wanted to shake each of them for their stubbornness, lack of trust and understanding, and miscommunication. There was definite relationship angst and drama. But there were also some sweet and emotional times too when their walls came down and they let each other in. And I loved his interactions and attachment to her son Jacob. I will admit, sometimes the pacing seemed a little fast and I would have liked a bit more depth in the time they spent together. Sometimes the external drama seemed to overshadow their feelings and commitment. And they both got stuck on their sides of the fence and had a hard time meeting in the middle.

But they say pride goeth before the fall. Will Gage finally let go of his past and pride and accept that Delaney will not lead him back down the path of pain? Or will his self destructiveness cause them to both end up hurt after all?

This was a story of second chances, facing fears, and finding hope when you least expect it. I enjoyed the town and cast of characters especially his brothers Reed, Hunter, Casey, Mason, sister Bree, and their wonderful parents. As well as the assorted townspeople Paige, Cranky, and Molly. There are definitely some other stories brewing under the surface and all of the brothers especially are fun, interesting and charismatic so it should be interesting to see how things develop.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Another amazing book by W. Ferraro! I am never disappointed when I read her books, they're always awesome! Afraid to Fall is about learning to move on and trust someone again, even after you've been betrayed in the past. Gage Dennison is the Sheriff who was betrayed by his ex-wife and best friend. Delaney Collins is his new neighbor who moves to Clearwater Falls, to start a new life for herself and her baby. Although the chemistry between Gage and Delaney is there from the start, Gage fights it, because he is not ready to trust again. Delaney is hesitant to get involved with the sheriff, and tries to protect her heart from getting broken again. Will they be able to move on from their pasts, and trust that love is worth the risks? I hope everyone enjoys this book as much as I did. I can't wait for the next book in this series! :)

I usually love this author and I'm really on the fence with this one.

Gage Dennison was betrayed in an awful way and he has shut himself off from everyone apart from his family and his dog Remington. He helps Delaney on the roadside due to snow and they get off to a bad start. Too many bad starts to be honest.

Delaney Collins made a mistake to believe the lies of a married man to protect her son she moved away. She runs into Gage and well she is honest and gives Gage hope that things can be better but he is a judgemental arse. Overall the book was enjoyable but I'm really disappointed.

**ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review by the girls and I at www.sizzlingpages.com **

Delaney is a single mom, moving to a new town with her infant
son in hopes of getting a fresh start on life.
She's strong and determined, and knows she'll be okay once she gets her
and Jacob settled.  Things start off
rocky though when her car gets stuck in the snow and she hasn't even reached
her new home yet.  Luckily someone comes
to her rescue, and gets her pulled out - and make sure she gets to her house
safely.  Little does she know that this
stranger who helped her, is the sheriff who also happens to be her neighbor.

Gage is driving home, and notices a car stuck in the snow.  He decides to stop and help, and with this
act of kindness - he doesn't even realize how his life is about to change.  Well, maybe he might have an inkling once he
notices Delaney, and feels an attraction to her - but also realizes she is
going to be his new neighbor.

Right away, he instantly feels a need to look out for her and
her son.  This is totally throwing him
off, because he is not interested in any relationship - after being cheated on
by his ex-wife and best friend.  At least
he thinks he's not looking for more from Delaney.

Delaney has been burned too, and she is no state of mind to rush
into any relationship.  She does notice
Gage though, with his looks, there's no denying he's attractive.  There's an attraction between these two  that has to be addressed - and thankfully
they give each other a chance to see what's there.  T he problem becomes when Gage gets scared of his feelings - and
his reactions to Delaney and his comments to her are hurtful.   He doesn't trust easily.

When Gage and Delaney are together and things are going well -
they are beautiful together.  The way he
takes care of her, and helps with Jacob are sweet and loving.  The problem becomes when Gage gets scared of
his feelings - and his reactions to Delaney and his comments to her are
hurtful.   He doesn't trust easily - and
doubts sometimes overwhelm him, and honestly - he acts like a complete ass.

I really
felt bad for Delaney when Gage went off on her - he said some really crappy
things to her - and I just wanted to smack him.
I was so glad she stood up for herself.
If they were ever going to work out, he needed to trust her.   He just wasn't ready to do that totally - so
she had to end it.

I love a
great romance that includes a hot, sexy guy getting involved with a woman with a child - and I really enjoyed this book - even
with the push and pull between these two.
I totally understood where Gage was coming from, and his fear - and I
was glad for the strength that Delaney showed.
Even though Gage was an ass some of the time - he made up for it all in
the end with his words and actions.
Ending up with a beautiful hea.

Delaney Collins is moving to a new town to start over with her son, Jacob. She’s basically alone in the world after unknowingly falling for a married man. When she finds herself pregnant and treated like the town pariah, she moves to the cute little town of Clearwater Falls.

Gage Dennison is the oldest of the huge Dennison clan. Gage was married before and betrayed in the worst way. It’s been 8 years, but he is still bitter and determined to never let a woman have that power over him again.

Gage runs into Delaney before she ever makes it to her cabin. She’s moving in the middle of a snow storm and Gage has to help her with her car. His conscience forces him to also make sure she has wood and a fire, so she doesn’t freeze. The bitter sheriff is super attracted to Delaney, but he assumes she has a boyfriend or husband that will be coming along after her. He also thinks she’s a spoiled airhead moving in the middle of a snowstorm. Did I also mention that they are neighbors in a secluded little area of town? Yep, so even when Gage wants to avoid the attractive strawberry blonde, he can’t.

When a bigger snowstorm comes through and the townspeople are asked to evacuate, Delaney declines and Gage takes it upon himself to show up and convince her. The shelter fills up, though, and Delaney ends up staying the night at the sheriff’s station. The two end up talking and becoming friendly even though they’re both becoming more and more attracted to the other. Gage puts a lot of effort into denying his attraction.

When Gage ends up getting drunk and showing up at Delaney’s, he ends up confessing his attraction and passing out on her couch. Delaney isn’t about to let this opportunity pass and questions Gage the next morning. When Delaney ends up telling Gage that she is super attracted to him, she doesn’t expect him to want more than a roll in the hay. She quickly finds out that Gage wants more when he lines up a babysitter and takes her out on a date and tells her that he wants a relationship.

Will Gage change his tune when he finds out that her ex is married? Can Gage let go of his ex-wife’s betrayal and trust Delaney?
Delaney was forced to grow up when she became a mother, but she realizes how naïve she was. It should have made her a bit jaded, but it didn’t. She has a heart of gold. She’s not used to living in a small town where everybody knows you, but she embraces it. She’s kind to everyone she meets. She trusts Gage and she’s a great mother. Even when he does things that she doesn’t like, she forgives him easily. When Richard (the jerk) comes to visit, she allows him to see Jacob. Is she perfect? No. She probably did make a few bonehead moves. I mean really? Why would you move in the middle of a snowstorm? Why would you decide not to evacuate in the middle of a blizzard when you know you’ll lose power and have an infant son? She barely let the town sheriff into her house on her first night when she didn’t have a fire, but she let a stranger come over to paint just because he was old friends with Gage? I also don’t understand why she would have such an overreaction to Gage punching Pete and I’m not sure why she kept Richard’s visits a secret.

Gage has a good heart, but he hasn’t let go of the scars of his past. His ex-wife and best friend hurt him and really ruined his ability to trust. He falls for Delaney, but sees every guy that talks to her as competition. He’s also very considerate and attentive. He’s great with Jacob and really sweet to Delaney. Personally, I enjoyed most of his alpha possessive tendencies. I loved the relationship he has with his family too.

Obviously, they had some stuff to overcome, but it made the story interesting from beginning to end. We also met the rest of the Dennison clan and I can’t wait to learn more about them and the other people in Clearwater Falls.

Love myself a good old romance story, and this one did not disappoint me. There is just something about a small town romance that gets me every time! A disillusioned guy, a young woman full of love and dreams! And Gage is as disillusioned as they come!

When young mum Delaney comes to town and moves in next door to the closed off sheriff, he is not the only one surprised when he cant seem to keep away from her. After a terrible break up with his high school sweetheart turned wife he has closed himself of to romance. He dived into his work and put his own heart and feelings on hold. Until he discovers Delaney's broken down car on the side of the road one night. From that point on he can not seem to get her out of his head. He sees her around town everywhere, he sees her at home, he sees her in his dreams. The more he tries to push her away the more the universe pushed him towards her.

Delaney is a lovely young woman who unfortunately put all her trust in the wrong person. She is left ostracised from her old life so decides to move to her Aunt Millie's house that was left to her in her will. She wants to start over and to create a wonderful life for her and her young son, away from the scandal that she left behind in the city. It doesn't take long for her to fall in love with the small town and the community....and to fall into lust with the gruff and closed off Sheriff Gage. But Delaney is not the type of woman to let people pull one over on her, she may be new to town, but she's not going to let the grumpy hot sheriff take his crap out on her, and calls him out of his closed off and emotional roller coaster personality.

This was such a sweet story, I really enjoyed reading about the small town environment and the Dennison family, who (lucky them) is full to the brim of hot alpha men! Cant wait to read more about them!!!! I was rooting for Delaney and Gage to find each other, they were both wonderful people who unfortunately gave their heart to the wrong people, and then struggled to move past these events and to learn to trust again.

If you love a good old fashioned romance with two genuine people who deserve a happily ever after, then don't miss out on this one!

Favorite Quotes:

“They’re kind of like puppies with a new toy. They are all over it at first but soon grow bored and go off to sniff their butts and chase their tails.”

“All of his kisses should come with warning labels; each one was better than the last.”

“I want you now, just as I will want you in fifty years. You don’t complete me; you make me.”

“You took the sparkle out of her eyes. So think about that when she tells you to go shit in your hat.”

My Review:

This was a sweet ride that turned into a bit of an emotional roller coaster that had me clutching my kindle for fear it wasn’t going to work out for them. I wanted to slap that hunky sheriff in the back of the head, and might even consider a “junk punch” or two to have been in order when he was being such a stubborn jackass who could not see past his own pain. What a lovely and refreshing story of two hurt and broken people learning to love again. And the steamy sensual love scenes are always an added bonus. This was my first W. Ferraro read, but it certainly will not be my last.

Wendy has done it again. The first page left me puzzled but the prologue had me hooked. I had wondered where she would go with it. I just love how she starts working in all the characters. You really get a glimpse into each character, not just the MC's.
I am not sure if I want to like or hate Gage. He needs to stop screwing things up. I love how Wendy wrote Drunk Gage. That felt totally realistic to me. I can say I wish Delany stood up to him more and didn't accept his apologizing so easily. I don't really know anyone that is that timid like this.
I have to give it to Wendy she wrote fabulous sex scenes too. I love that there is more than just crud words telling you how the characters took tab A and stuck it in slot B.
I'm so happy with how Delany grows as a character as the book contiunes. She finds her back bone.
This book wraps up nicely but a little to quick for me. Maybe cause I want more? I can not wait for the next. This is going to be another fabulous series. I can feel it!

This is Ferraro's best work to date, and I only see great things to come!

Gage and Delaney's story is an incredible love story of forgiveness and of giving love another chance.

Delaney is a single mom of an infant, whose father was dishonest with her. Gage's ex-wife betrayed him with someone he completely trusted. When these two meet, there is an attraction. Gage can not stop thinking about the pretty redheaded neighbor, and Delaney's thoughts are filled with the sexy sheriff with a temper.

The way that Ferraro shows you as a reader the inner battle that Gage suffers with letting himself become close to someone new and risk falling in love once again, is absolutely beautiful! Not only are Gage & Delaney amazing characters, but the supporting characters are wonderful. The family dynamic that Ferraro shows you with The Dennison crew is amazing. I can not wait to read more from this amazingly talented author!!!

W. Ferraro just never disappoints. I'm so intrigued by these Dennison men, and I fell in love with our intro character, Gage.

So, Gage is that man that makes me want to scream in frustration sometimes, but that is also what makes me love and appreciate him all the more. When those vulnerabilities seeped through, and I watched Gage grow as a man, I was done for. A man that has been through hell and struggles is fiercely loving man, and we totally get that with Gage.

I love how strong and in dependent Delaney is too. Her secrets are enough to wear anyone down, and they really tore at my heart. Of course, being a strong multifaceted character, these things only make her stronger. And sweeter! I love that she doesn't become jaded.

Overall, a sweet, yet hot, love story that makes me yearn for another beautiful Dennison. And soon!

Afraid to Fall

Awesome book about true love that didn't come easily. Gage and Delaney's journey was filled with mistrust and plenty of baggage. You will need two boxes of tissues not one. I quietly cried at least twice while reading this amazing story of personal struggle. Really good read if you love a great love story and don't mind a good cry. Beautifully written.

My Thoughts
Gage needed some therapy sessions before he even thought about going out with Delaney. Boy he had some issues. He seemed very juvenile at times and that distracted me from the story.

Untrusting alpha hole still living in the past and the single mom who's convinced herself she loves the jerk. She keeps forgiving and returning for more. Thankfully no cheating although Gage keeps internally comparing Delaney to his cheating ex-wife, whenever Delaney is within a few feet of another man. It was OK if you like that sort of story.

When this book was presented to me to read I thought it would be an interesting one, maybe nice and relaxing.. an easy love story that give me the warm fuzzies. I had never read a book by W. Ferraro so I didn't know what to expect. I can tell you when I was done with this book I had an aching chest from needing to cry my eyes out, I was ready to lay down on the floor and have a little fit, but then the book became beautiful again and I couldn't help smiling and I hungered for more.

Delaney Collins is probably one of my favorite characters. She is a strong woman, but she balances it with being truly kind. Delaney was horribly used by a man who she didn't know was married until the day she told him she was pregnant. Mistakes were made on her part and hoping to do right by her son she held out hope that his declarations of love and he was leaving his wife were true, until a phone call confrontation with his wife set her straight. Not wanting her little Jacob to grow up having to live with her mistakes she decided to start over living in the cottage her Aunt Millie left her. She moved to Clearwater Falls, New Hampshire for a new start after the birth of her son.

Gage Dennison is a hard one to love but also one you want to love. He is a broken and bitter man after his divorce. You don't find out the ugly details until later in the book and it just makes you feel even worse for him. His only true friend is his dog Remington. He is well respected and loved in the community, and by his family. But he wont anyone become close, not again.

When Gage rescues Delaney on the side of the road he can't stop thinking she is just city folk wanting to play at being rural. When he learns she is moving into the cottage across the road from his, his perfectly miserable existence implodes. She causes him to have wild thoughts and elicits feelings he hasn't had for a woman in a long time. She is the first woman to rile any kind of strong reaction out of him in a while. Delaney is just as drawn tot he grouchy Sheriff, and can't help but try and draw him out or be her usual sweet self. Gage is hooked and is fighting it harder than a man should when he wants something as bad as he obviously does. After a kick in the pants by one of his brothers he finally decides to take the scary step and try for something he wants so badly. They have an amazing relationship... until his past and his insecurities work very hard to screw it up. He is tested and so is their new found love. But can it withstand such strong trials.

This book made me laugh, cringe because of his stupidity, and dang near ball my eyes out. Finding a book that completely undoes me like this before lifting me back up is a great find! W. Ferraro certainly has a gift. I loved this book so much I will be waiting for the story to continue by telling Gage's brother's stories. Fantastic characters, great flow, and did I mention you will cry? Best read this week.

W. Ferraro is an effing goddess. Yep. I fell in love with her back with the start of the Hamden Series. Since then, I’ve been infatuated with her characters. I’m ashamed to say I didn’t even know this was coming out until I saw a post about a blog tour. So OBVIOUSLY I joined it, because I love this woman. I can’t even imagine what my reading life would be like right now if it weren’t for W. Ferraro. She’s one of the first contemporary authors that I had started reading, along with New Adult and Indie Authors.

Afraid to fall floored me with the differences and similarities to W.’s other masterpieces. Let’s begin with the fact that the main characters are flawed, irresistible, charming, and snarky. You immediately fall in love with Delaney. Yes, she has a troubled past, but she’s trying to move on from that and make an honest life for her son and herself. The strawberry blond haired beauty catches the eye of the sheriff Gage Dennison, right from the beginning. Gage is a conundrum. I want to love him but I want to hate him. I would call his super bipolar jealous rage fits childish, and uncalled for… but in his mind, he justifies all of his behavior. Even with his temper, he’s still super sexy and duh, he’s a sheriff.

Although it seems as if it’s going to start out as a damsel in distress type book, you’re very quickly reminded not everything is what it seems. Secrets and jealously wage war in this novel, making you want to pull your hair out and scream at the characters. I’m not sure I could even tell you how many times I wanted to punch Gage in the throat when he has his little bitch-fits. At the same time, I want to smack some sense into Delaney for letting him get away with it every time! <- That right there is me being a hypocrite.

This book was stunning, but painful. I can’t tell you how many times I cried during this novel. Oh god, I can’t even think about it right now… cause my chest is starting to hurt! Afraid To Fall brings a raw essence of love worth fighting for to the readers eyes. I have to say the growth of the characters throughout the book is simply astonishing. While they battle not only their own personal demons, but the demons of a new relationship, W. Ferraro keeps you on the edge of your seat and your heart pounding.

Per usual, I can’t wait for the next installment in this series. I’m wondering, is it going to be a continuation or… which brother it’s going to be?? I’ll take ANY. ONE. OF. THEM!! And again, per usual, get up (or don’t) but BUY THIS BOOK! You won’t be disappointed. I know I never am when it comes to the beautiful and talented W. Ferraro!! Go get it right meow!

Even though I’m part of the tour, I bought Afraid To Fall, partly because I couldn’t find it in my Kindle cloud and mostly because I was too antsy to get to it and wanted it right when I was looking for it. :) I’ve posted the cover reveal (it was that gorgeous cover that first hooked me) and the release day post, after those posts I was so excited to get going on this when the date came up on my calendar.

We start the book with Gage excited to be planning a trip for him and his wife. Then we flash forward to 8 years later, in the present with Delaney giving birth to her son. Then she is on her way to moving herself and her son to her aunt’s house she inherited when she meets Gage. What do you know? Their neighbors!

Gage has built this life of solitude over the past 8 years. Even with a huge family there to (emotionally) support him and being the sheriff of a small town, he still has managed to isolate himself. He was hurt badly and he isn’t willing to risk the chance of being hurt again.

Delaney has her own history behind her that isn’t pretty. When we got to that point in the book, the history behind how she has her son, my mouth dropped open. I don’t know what I expected, but with her telling the story to Gage – had I had a friend face to face telling me this story I would have said oooohhhhhh crap.

These two go back and forth and are hot and cold even though the chemistry between them is always there. Gage has a problem not letting his past effect how he views things in his present (very understandable, we all do it).

I loved the characters, all of them, from our hero and heroine to his family, to Cranky and Paige. I am hoping that there are more books to come, maybe about the brothers, Reed and Hunter specifically.

I really liked this book. There were some moments that broke my heart and close to the end there was this moment that gave me the shivers and made tears start building behind my eyes while I was sniffling a bit. My 15 year old son looked at me and said are you going to cry over a book? I might. :)

I’m so glad I grabbed this and read it. It was truly an enjoyable read!

4.5 Stars!

I really enjoyed this book. It was a lighter romance with just enough steam to heat you up and enough sweetness to make your heart melt. This book had angst but it wasn't overdone. I love some country boys and this book has one tough, country sheriff whose heart is surrounded by a block of ice. I also love when a woman brings a man to his knees and that is this story. While this was a quick read, it packed a serious punch and I cannot wait for the next in the series!

This is Gage and Delaney's story. Gage has been burned in the past. Eight years later, he is the sheriff of his small town and has no attachments to women... just the way he likes it. Living a secluded life, he doesn't expect his new neighbor to take over his thoughts. Delaney has left her old lie behind with her four month old son and is moving to a small town in a house that was left to her by estranged family. When she breaks down and a mysterious man helps her, little does she know that the town sheriff is her new neighbor and soon to be object of her thoughts. As these two dance around each other, it is obvious they have feelings but both have a horrible past with the opposite sex. When they give into temptation, they both find something that they didn't realize they were looking for. But when their pasts comes back and screws with ther future, will they be able to lay their demons to rest before it destroys their chance at happiness? Will Delaney and Gage get their happy ending?

I loved both of these characters. I admired Delaney's strength and loved watching her bond grow and develop with her son. I also loved how she was pretty straight forward with Gage. I also liked Gage though I wanted to smack him several times at the end. But what I REALLY loved was the bond between the Dennison siblings and I cannot freaking wait for each to get their own story.

I highly recommend this book and new series!

Review for Afraid to Fall By W. Ferraro

I was given this Arc for a honest Review

Gage is a Divorced Sherriff of a small town who has lost all hope of Love after his wife cheated on him with his best friend.

Delaney is a New mother that has moved to a small town in tiny cottage that was left to her when a family member died. She is hell bent on making a great life for her and her little man.

When Delaney is moving to this small town she hits some bad weather and a night in shining armor helps her she doesn’t release it is her new neighbor. Gage and Delaney are both attracted to each other with both of them not wanting to do anything about their attraction. Till they just cant help it anymore….

When Gage learns about Delaneys past relationship he passes judgment on her with out knowing all the facts and thinks he cant trust her..

My review
This is ANOTHER brilliant book by W. Ferraro this woman in my eyes can’t do know wrong. She writes Strong, Sexy, Men and who does love that but she also write Amazing-leading Woman.
The way she has written this couple is so spot on to real life you would have trust issues if you went through what this couple has. But it’s how she writes how they get through there troubling moments that really sticks with me.

I cannot wait for the next book that W.Ferraro writes her book will always be on my have to read list. Is you have read anything from this Author I suggest that you get on it and make it your next great read.

I give this book 4.5 Stars

A 5 STAR romance!!

I was gifted this book for an honest review. This was my first W. Ferraro read. I have DEFINITELY found another author to follow!! This beautifully written story had me hooked from the beginning. Finding and falling in love, having your heart broken, and fear of ever trusting again are all situations that present themselves in this book. This story will make you swoon, cry, and throw your reading device! I loved the story and the characters. I look forward to finding out what's beneath the other Dennison men!!

Gage Dennison thought he found the love of his life. He couldn't have been more wrong. His ex wife's betrayal caused him to isolate himself and protect his heart. He refused to allow any other woman access to his heart again. On a snowy night all of that changed.....

Delaney Collins and her infant son where starting a fresh new life. Leaving the city and the one man she thought loved her behind. Moving to a small town to raise her son, Delaney was determined to make the best of life for herself and Jacob. A love life was the furthest thing from her mind until she met her neighbor.

Cruel up with your favorite beverage and get lost in this story of two people who share a common heart break. See how they learn about each other, grow together, and fight for a chance at a happily ever after.

Move over Hamden Hotties, there a new Sheriff of my heart! His name is Gage Dennison and he is the town sheriff of Clearwater Falls.

This is the first book in the newest series by W. Ferraro, and it will definitely give Hamden a run for it's money. Wendy did such a great job creating Gage and Delaney. Both are hurting, both are trying to forget the past and move on and neither want to get involved with someone new, but sometimes fate is a minx and likes to show who's boss.

After helping Delaney get her car out a snow drift, Gage realizes she's his new neighbor, and he's not real happy about that. He likes his solitude, and doesn't need a city girl to disrupt it.

Delaney has left the big city behind after a relationship gone awry. She just wants to start over where no one knows her or judges her.

Gage and Delaney are thrown together several times and Gage can't help the attraction that envelopes him. Their relationship is a rocky road of mistrust, and not dealing with past issues. There is a ton of love, and steamy sex scenes, and you find yourself willing them to make it work.

Such a great book. There is no cliffhanger. We get introduced to the whole Dennison clan, and if can't wait to see who Wendy picks to write about next!

I absolutely loved this book. Sometimes a book is able to restore your faith in love and Delaney and Gage showed that love isn't perfect, but it is possible if you are willing to take a chance.

Gage is the small town sheriff who is beyond jaded as a result of his first marriage. I can't really say that I blamed him for the way he acted based on the information that is provided about what happened in the past. I think that if he had acted any other way it would have been unbelievable.

Delaney is a city girl who moves to a cabin that her aunt left her with her infant son. She is determined that she doesn't need to count on anyone because the person she should have been able to count on deceived her and let her down. She is resistant to the sheriff but then realizes that he is not so bad. I can't say that I would have been willing to accept everything that Delaney does, but it all worked out in the end.

The two characters certainly don't take the easiest path to a happily ever after, but make their way there. I look forward to seeing them in other books in this series. During the book, we meet the members of Gage's family. I am already looking forward to reading the next book already. I can't seem to get enough of the Dennison family.

This book was okay. Gage was an asshole I didn’t like him. The books start with him being angry and hateful. Then by 50% Gage and Delaney are in love and even talking about making babies. Gage continues to be angry and hateful. Delaney forgives him. The end.
I didn’t connect because Gage was a douche so I didn’t really care if Delaney forgave him. The book also had a lot of cheesy lines.

Gage and Delaney are two broken people from being destroyed by their past unwilling to follow their hearts. Is falling worth it ? Will you survive being broken again if you take that chance? Take a chance on falling for the first Dennison man. You wont be disappointed.

Wendy Ferraro has created another masterpiece within the pages of Afraid to Fall. It is a beautiful and sometimes painful journey of finding your way to the edge and wondering when you get there are you gonna be Afraid to Fall. This book takes you through every emotion possible. There are times you will fall head over heels in love with Gage Dennison and moments when you WANT TO CHOKE HIM thats what makes this book so amazing. My heart ached and broke for this shattered man. Watching him find his way was such a beautiful experience. There is a point in this book that completely broke me you could feel the pain coming off pages. It was so raw to see a man at his lowest point and then find his saving grace was truly beautiful.

I can't wait form the next book in this series. Wendy Ferraro never disappoints me she an auto buy author for me.
