I was skeptical at first considering I already knew how to read and write Hangeul, but decided to check this out anyway since it came in the package I ordered. It actually had some really great information that was new to me, as well as a portion on various Korean handwriting/cursive that was very beneficial. I think it would have been great to use as an introduction to Hangeul, the audio links included in the text are helpful for beginners and anyone trying to improve their pronunciation, and the quizzes were a fun reprieve from all the copying and listening. I'd certainly recommend this to anyone looking to get into reading and writing Hangeul as well as beginners who may know how, but still would like to sharpen their skills or take a quick refresher.

If you are learning Korean, you need to be able to read and write Hangeul 한글.
Divided in multiple sections to make your ability to understand as easy as possible. We start off with the history of Hangeul. A very interesting section that details how Korean was created, unlike every other language. Next up is Introduction to Hangeul. Here we go over the basic structure of Hangeul as well as a chart of the Korean consonants and vowels.
Next up actually learning Hangeul. You start with learning the vowels. Then move onto consonants broken down into 2 parts. The compound vowels is also broken down into 2 parts. Next is bat-chin, followed up by double consonants. Compound consonants as bat-chin are up next, and they are explained in a very easy to understand way. Finally linking sounds in Korean explains the nuances of why certain words are not pronounced as they are spelled, but why they are still spelled a certain way.
After all of these learning modules, with a multitude of quizzes and audio assistance, around half of Hangeul Master is dedicated to different styles of Korean handwriting. While it may be all well and good being able to read and understand Korean that is written very cleanly on a computer or a phone, in the real world, individuals handwriting is so vast that if you were to see someone own writing you may find it indistinguishable. But this is the same with any language. Not only is a plethora of different handwriting styles shown, but why these more common handwriting styles are used. They also encourage you to test out your own handwriting style to help you take ownership of you Korean language learning journey.

Written by the well-known Talk To Me In Korean school (TTMIK for the connoisseurs), this book goes through all you need to know about Hangeul, the Korean alphabet. Very clearly explained, step-by-step,with loads of exercises, this is an amazing course book. The last part is all about Hangeul handwriting and is a little depressing because loads of letters become illegible compared to printed Hangeul. But let’s stay optimistic and be happy with being able to read the printed Hangeul to start with. Excellent book.

Beginner Korean Learner
I am so glad I started my Korean journey with TTMIK! This book was my first step into the Korean language and it was so easy to understand and learn the hangeul letters with this book. I can now read any Korean I come across which makes it easy to figure out what those words mean! I definitely recommend learning the written language first because it has made my learning journey so much more enjoyable!!! I can't wait to continue my learning with more TTMIK!!

This is an excellent book! The images, exercises, and audio were all helpful. And when I struggled with the double consonants I was able to go to TTMIK’s youtube channel and watch a video that got me over that hump! I took under a month studying this book and I can now look at Korean text (Hanguel), and even if I don’t know what it means I can pronounce it. I have purchased the level one textbook and workbook from TTMIK and can’t wait to start working in it.

Written by Talk to Me in Korean (TTMIK), this is an excellent introduction to the Korean alphabet, hangeul. Tied together with free audio files that can be downloaded from TTMIK's website, a learner can easily (with TONS of practice) can become more familiar with each character and learn how to pronounce them correctly in all of their placements in words. The key here, of course, is practice. Non-stop, daily practice.

Es muy completo, me gusta que te explique cómo leer la letra cursiva de los coreanos. Pero bueno, más allá de eso, es una locura lo mucho que mejoraron en términos de diseño los de Talk To Me In Korean. Este libro tiene algunas ilustraciones que dan más miedo que pasearse por avellaneda a las 3 de la mañana con el celular en la mano y crocs.
Único detalle, por qué carajos dice que la 애 suena como una "a"? El autor estaba tratando de prankear a los lectores? No entiendo.

The best workbook for learning the Korean alphabet, Hangeul. Talk to Me In Korean is a company which consistently brings you excellence in language skills. I first heard of them through the Youtube channel. I learned so much from those videos that I wanted to learn more. I purchased this book in 2016 and have enjoyed returning to it occasionally as a reference.

Really useful for me as I had trouble with the sound change rules of Hangul and 받침. Each part is explained in a easy to understand way and one can definitely start reading and writing Hangul with this book.
With more practice, I just know I can fully understand my 선생님's classes😂!

I think it's a good book to be introduced into the writing system, but I found the audio in the site very confusing as someone doing self study and have no one to explain things to me.
The pronunciation guides in the book in the beginning was helpful.
I still give it a high rating bc it showed me how do-able it is to learn how to write in hangul.

Highly recommend for beginner Korean learners, before you jump into any lessons or vocabulary. I love the final part on hand writing recognition and practicing. Besides, the linking sound part is quite hard to memorise, so I think I need to comeback for this later.

This was a great way to learn not just the Korean alphabet but also native Korean hand writing. It also had a lot of good information on the language itself.

This is a great book to learn the pronunciation by yourself. You can find inside API to represent to korean sounds and it's a good help! Not that many language books have that :)

Definitely a must when when first learning Korean. So much that I failed to find elsewhere when I started my online lessons were included in this book. I wish I found this book sooner.

After studying and memorizing Hanguel, the Korean alphabet, through an app, I decided to strengthen my knowledge with Hangeul Master from TTMIK as well.
After an historic excursion to the Joseon Dynasty and how Hanguel came to be, Hangeul Master exlplained the meaning and structure of the syllables, the consonants & vowels, the importance of the direction of the strokes, the pronounciation etc. In addition to the explanations, the book gives a lot of free space to pratice and write the syllables oneself.
At the end of the study material, Hangeul Master includes a "How to read and write handwritten and stylized Hangeul" and enough free space to practice the given words and expressions.
The audio files helped a lof regarding the pronounciation.
The only thing missing were the names and pronouncition of each vowel and consonant.
