This book felt like reading a friend's journal. You found it on accident, you're probably not supposed to read it, but you hide in the closet with a bucket of cookies and you read it anyway. It feels familiar and oh so spicy!
Frolick follows Sam through her dating life. It's funny, messy, awkward and honest. I would find myself laughing out loud one momet and the next, I would cringe a little and think, "oh yeah...I remember doing that."
Any the chaos? We don't just *have* chaos. We've invited it in, made it a sandwich and let it snuggle up in our favorite blanket with its feet on our ottoman.
Sam is guarded, sarcastic, hopeful and very human. She makes some choices that don't always make sense in hindsight, but in the moment, they are perfect. Every relationship she's in leaves something behind and you can feel her learning about who she is even though its uncomfortable.
The writing in the book feels conversational and almost confessional. Like you're talking with a friend late at night with a cup of coffee-just the two of you and the truth.
This isn't a big, flashy ROM-COM. It's about dating and longing, self awareness and realizing that sometimes the lesson is the story. Also, if you've ever ignored a red flag because you thought, "ooh, maybe this time..." Same.
So, if you're looking for a chaotic romp through the spicy love life of a strong FMC, grab a copy of Frolick. You won't be disappointed. The only thing better than devouring this book is knowing that the sequel is dropping in February, and I can't wait to read it!
