Raising Kingdom Kids: Giving Your Child a Living Faith

Rate this book
From the bestselling author of Kingdom Man and Kingdom Woman, Raising Kingdom Kids equips parents to raise their children with a Kingdom perspective and also offers practical how-to advice on providing spiritual training as instructed in Scripture.

Dr. Tony Evans begins with an overarching look at the need for Kingdom parenting, our roles and responsibilities in raising God-following children, and how to prepare children to take on the assignments God has for their lives. He then takes a practical turn, with examples and illustrations to help parents understand and provide specific training for kids in the power of prayer, wisdom, loving God’s Word, getting through trials, controlling their tongues, developing patience, the surrender of service, and much more.

This book is for every dad or mom who wants to fulfill the parenting role God has given them—not just in raising healthy kids intellectually, physically, and socially, but in contributing to their child’s relationship with God and alignment under His plan.

Excellent. Loved how practical but deep this was. I love that the author acknowledges throughout the book that the world is dark and the dangers to our kids is very real, but we can be assured our children have the safeguard of sound decision making from being taught the Word, and in that, they are protected and covered.

There are great examples throughout scripture, my favorite from the book of Daniel given on teaching kids to stand on Kingdom principles in the midst of society. Not isolating kids but raising them with a solid foundation of Kingdom values and a Kingdom mindset.

I've read a ton of Christian parenting books over the years and this one definitely ranks within my favorite top 5. Really loved that it wasn't a bunch of steps, rules or formulas, but more of a Bible study on raising our kids in the ways of the Kingdom. Highly recommend!

Excellent book about kingdom parenting, meaning that we instill God’s Word into our child’s heart and mind to benefit God’s kingdom. We can’t sit back and expect the church to grow our child’s faith, or become too preoccupied with schedules and to-do lists and miss out on important teaching moments to help build their faith so they will be able to fight a culture trying to destroy or compromise their values. Also the conclusion in the book was really powerful. “In a physical will, you are not free to pass on something you do not own...Similarly, as parents raising kingdom kids, the most important thing you can do is to maintain and grow in your own faith so you have something authentic to pass down to your kids.” More is caught than taught in parenting, and we have to be a good example in our daily lives.

Raising Kingdom Kids was a very inspiring book. I have 2 children and I am an intentional parent. It really gave me hope and determination to continue to raise my children God's way. I am a mom who struggles with perfection and anxiety, for that reason I can fall in satan's trap of lies to make me feel like a bad mother or cause me to think my children will prefer the world. I recommend this book to all parents and encourage them not to give up and give themselves grace. Thank you for Dr. Tony Evans and Focus on the Family for this book. God bless you.

A very good book that I certainly recommend for parents building their parenting library. It contains excellent practical advice and many examples of what worked for this family. However, it didn't match what I was looking for, placing the emphasis on the mechanics where I was looking for relationship. Dr. Evans certainly mentioned the relationship building elements but they played second-fiddle to the how to's. There were many chapters where I found what I was looking for summed up in the end paragraph and never expanded on.

Excellent book! This book contains solid biblical advice on raising children to love and honor the Lord. Principles like love, respect, service, purity, faith, and integrity, are explored. I especially enjoyed the contributions by Mr. Evan's grown children on how their parents brought them up and the glimpses they give on how these principals looked in their home. This isn't a "page turner". It should be approached slowly and thoughtfully. Read a chapter and think about how to bring these principles about in your own home. Highly recommended!

This is a well-written, relevant book for Christian parents.
In our world today, it's not easy raising our kids for Jesus.
Tony Evans offers excellent advice to assist on your journey to reach this.
This is one of those books that need to be read and read again, and meditated on, to really soak it up.

An excellent resource for leaving a legacy of faith and virtue your children will hold within them as they venture off on their own. I really wish my parents had read this when I was a child. The purity chapter explains why sexual experiences outside of marriage are so dangerous- more clearly and convincing than any other explanation I've ever heard! This chapter alone is worth buying the book!

Every Christian parent should read Tony's challenge to raise our children in light of the Gospel. It may not be the popular thing, the most efficient process, or the most energizing but our children will have a foundation that will carry them through to the third generation. Tony gives Biblical and practical ideas on how to raise your kids so they know what is right, just, and sound.

I would definitely gift this book to couples getting married. It is a great guide coming from someone who has been there, who has experienced kingdom guidance and now utilizes personal examples on how to guide children through the troublesome waters of a society that has forgotten about values, principles and most importantly, has forgotten about God

Raising Kingdom Kids by Dr. Tony Evans is an insightful and helpful book for parents with children of all ages. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and took many pages of notes. I plan on giving my copy to a friend because I feel like this book is one that should not only be recommended but shared. It confirms many things I have been feeling about family and how the family dynamic is changing. While it identifies struggles in raising children today in a Christian home, it also gives solutions!

As Dr. Evans so aptly says on the back cover, “It’s far easier to SHAPE A CHILD than to REPAIR AN ADULT.” Could there be a more true statement regarding shaping the lives of people. One of my favorite chapters in the book, Dr. Evans gives Three Pillars of Parenting. They are Encouragement, Discipline, and Instruction. Within the first pillar, Dr. Evans describes how important for the parent to raise the child, not the village. This is so counter-cultural, but so wise! He says unless the village has kingdom values, the village should not be shaping your child.

I could go on and on with the endless wisdom shared in this book, but it would be better if you obtained a copy for yourself! It is an invaluable resource for parents who desire to pass their Christian faith and values to their children.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book by its publisher, Tyndale House, in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and I have not been compensated.

Good book

Good book
A small group bible study at my church is currently reading this book together
I like the author Tony Evans
He is a strong Christian and the main theme that he teaches in the book is passing down faith through generations
His father was a strong Christian
He is a strong Christian
And now all of his kids are walking in Christian faith
My main takeaway was that he read a story from the Bible at every dinner with his kids
I’ve started doing that and it is great for me as the pastor of my home to guide my family daily on the morals and wisdom gained in these stories

This very excellent book is about raising kids kids to live under God's divine authority. Dr. Tony Evans is a pastor in Dallas. Texas. He has a certain philosopy for raising great kids. Kingdom parenting is purposeful parenting. You need to give children a strong foundation so that they make decisions that with their faith even though they live in a secular world. He says to teach your kids wisdom, integrity, faith, resilency, purity, and service to others.
