Rating may change as I try tp put into practice. (I have (to put it politely) a notoriously difficult/ intractable colleague at work to test this advice on.)
Excellent read. As usual with GoodReads, one cannot rank with 1/2 (half) stars -- this is actually a 4 1/2 star book, in my view. Having been, dealt with, and presently seeing ( all of above ) difficult people, I envision this book being pulled off my liber education shelf more than once in the coming weeks, months, & definitely, years.
Helpful hints for dealing with me! Actually this book has a lot of helpful, practical advise for identifying difficult people, learning why they act the way they do, and how to respond effectively. It is a fun book with great names and descriptions for the various types of people we encounter every day. The book then discusses a five-step process for dealing with conflict and keeping peace in your life. Part of the Life Leadership Essentials Series, this is truly a great reference book to keep on the shelf.
Pretty good, but could have been shorter. I felt like they just repeated some things too often instead of just condensing it into a shorter book. Great ideas to practice though with every day life, not just in you’re in a leadership role.
I enjoyed this book. The writing itself is not fantastic, but the content and the concepts were really solid. And I feel like it got better and better as it went along. It gave me some great ideas for moving forward with how I deal with people at my job and better yet, reminded me of practices I used to employ but I've gotten away from. I recommend it for anyone who has to deal with people, especially difficukt or confrontational ones.
I really enjoyed learning about the 5 step PEACE process. To me that was the most valuable part of the book, more to the point the chapter on Pause. I tend to react to quickly and this chapter was able to help with me better clarity the importance of not just pause but how to think through the pause moment.
This is a book with great practical advise. Everyone is sure to find something useful in order to help them get along better with the people in their life.
