Sinful Bargains

Rate this book
After a decade in Rikers Island, Joey “The Shark” Romano is back, and he’s ready to reclaim the empire that was stolen from him. By day, he runs a luxury car business. By night, he’s the most feared loanshark on the East Coast, newly restored as Capo of the Giordano Crime Family.

Adriana Bianchi is running from a husband she thought she killed and a past that refuses to stay buried. All she wants is safety for her teenage son, Antonio. The last thing she needs is a powerful man offering protection at a price she doesn’t understand.

But Staten Island has its own rules.

When violence erupts, and a single gunshot changes everything, Joey must uncover the betrayal that sent him to prison and the shooter hiding closer than he ever imagined. In a world ruled by loyalty and blood, love may be the most dangerous gamble of all.

For readers drawn to the dark glamour of Peaky Blinders, the legacy-driven tension of The Godfather, and the raw coming-of-age conflict of A Bronx Tale.

I really enjoyed this Mafia romance, it felt completely different from anything I’ve read before. I loved the slow burn; it added so much depth and real character growth. You could truly feel the tension and yearning between Joey and Ariana it gave me serious Bronx Tale vibes! I also loved Antonio’s POV; it added so much dimension to the story and made the plot twists even more impactful. And that cliffhanger… ugh!

This was a dark mafia romance set in NYC 1950s. Joey and Adriana were such a power-couple. Even though I struggled with a few chapters in the start, the storyline was hooking and kept me entertained till the very end.

Surely, the writing was different but not difficult to understand. Throughout the book I felt that it reads more like wattpad and then later saw that it was originally a wattpad story!!

It was fast paced and you're easily led through scenes except I think their wedding was cut short and author wanted to be quick with it, I wanted details. This book was surely a ride but was still.... missing something?

Talking about the characters, Joseph Romano might be my next favorite man. He's everything one would look for in a man, older, possessive, protective, 'I'll have you no matter what' vibe, and most of all, a provider!!! oh that was so sexy about him.

Adriana was easily likeable and I am glad that she was shown as a courageous woman who would step up and kill if needed.

All side characters were fun! Loved Marco, Paul, Lucy, Angela!!

Now the only character that irritated me to death was Antonio!!!!! Sometimes his pov made sense and other times I wanted to punch him through the screen. Only if he decided to THINK, we wouldn't have all that drama, anyway.

I'll be looking forward to the next book.

Thankyou Netgalley, Olive Press Publishing and the author Zara Jade Astrid herself for providing me with this arc in return for an honest review!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️

the story is set in the 50’s which was something i haven’t read before so i got curious! even more because its mafia themed

while i enjoyed the general idea, something… was missing i think. the pace felt confusing sometimes. there wasn’t that much plot happening. i feel like there was a lot of wasted potential and i was also missing chemistry between the main characters

I do love joey though. he wasn’t the usual mafia man, he s had some heart left. he was so great to adriana and antonio

i also liked adriana but again, i was missing some… development between her and joey. they suddenly talked about love and all but i wasn’t feeling it THAT much

antonio simply irritated me? like… first of all, his age. he’s 13?? and then his actions. i kind of wished the end would have been different… and that he had trusted joey

all in all it was a good story with potential. definitely curious about the second book!!

thank you netgalley and the author for providing me with this arc!! i really appreciated it💕

What a ride! This was my first mafia romance and I don’t think I will explore others outside of this series because it set the bar too high. I don’t know what I was expecting, but this was even better than I anticipated. I would consider it more of a mafia drama with romance subplot. I could hear all of the dialogue and banter in my head. Joey is the greyest of the morally grey. I didn’t connect with Adriana as much and I would have liked to, but I have high hopes for her character arc in Sinful Oaths! Antonio’s storyline stole the show, and is really unique. There has been so much groundwork laid for the next book in the series, which I cannot wait to read!

Thank you, Olive Press Publishing, for the copy of this ebook!

ARC review:
Beautiful mafia story with a solided story. The setting is almost cozy, but it's a mafia drama, so not that cozy.

I really liked Adriana and her boy and of course Joey too.
It's not the usuale spicy mafia book, but the slow burn was chef's kiss and the cliff-hanger, brutal! So yeah, I enjoyed it!

My Feelings: This book definitely made me go through all the emotions. The chemistry between the characters is just great. The banter and the way the story is written really pulls you. I was obsessed with the 1950s settings. It is a slow burn. The spice doesn't happen till towards the end. However, the slow burn is an enjoyable one. It's not to drug out to where it's just overdone. The only thing that rattled me a little was the dang cliffhanger ending, but the book is so good it definitely makes up for it! Can't wait for it to be released so I can get my on a physical copy

If you've ever seen the movies, Goodfellas or the Godfather, Sinful Bargains is kind of reminiscent of those two movies. Set in 1959, the story takes place on Staten Island and Manhattan and follows three main characters:

Joey - recently released from Riker's and owner of a wholesale car dealership while moonlighting as a Mafia gangster
Adriana - a supposed "widow" who is on the run from a DV situation and looking for a fresh start
Antonio - son of Adriana who is just trying to protect his mother and understand everything that is going on around him

What I loved about this book was the fact that there were multiple first-person POVs. Being able to read the perspectives of each of these main characters and what they were experiencing simultaneously was definitely intriguing and it kept me hooked the entire time I was reading.

There were some plot twists that I didn't see coming and it added more substance to the story. While Sinful Bargains is marketed as a mafia romance, I do feel that this book is more of a historical mafia fiction novel. The romance between Joey and Adriana involved so much yearning on Joey's behalf. The way that Joey is described in the book, I think I would have been smitten too ;)

Quotes that stuck with me throughout reading Sinful Bargains were:

"But in this life, love doesn’t exist. You hold your cards close to your chest and learn to play them right. What she thought was love was just a desire to claim me, pin me down, and attach herself to The Shark—the man they report about on the 5 o’clock news."

“You’re allowed to let someone in. Whatever happened before me is over now.”...“What if something goes wrong?”...“What if nothing does? You’ll never know unless you give it a chance.”

"One shot, Antonio. One shot. That’s all you get. So you always make it count.”

"Every sinner has their day."

Overall, I give this book a 4.5/5 only because the ending was kind of cliffhanger. There's been no announcement of book 2, but when looking on Amazon, it looks like this is Book One of the Sins of the Father series. There is some spice, but it is pretty mild. I would rate the spice as a .5/5.

Who would I recommend this book to? I would recommend it to readers who prefer to read more mild mafia romances. I also would also recommend it to readers who like suspense and action in the books they read. Even for non-romance readers, I would recommend this book to simply because of the historical and mafia factors.

All in all, this was an excellent book and I want to thank Olive Press Publishing for sending me a review copy. All opinions are my own.

I have one question: HOW is this a debut??
I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck made of plot twists, emotional damage, and poetic smut. I picked this book up thinking, Sure, why not? Now I’m spiraling. Spiraling and OBSESSED.

Let me be clear:
THE SPICE?? SPICYYYYYYYYY.
I was not prepared. The slowburn was so slow it physically hurt—but when it ignites? JESUS. I ascended. The payoff isn’t just satisfying—it’s practically spiritual. And the way those scenes were written?? I read a lot of poetry and I’m telling you, Zara wrote those moments like she was crafting stanzas. Tender, explosive, lyrical. Literal art BABY.

Let’s talk about the cast:

Adriana: If rage and maternal love could take human form, it’d be her. She is FIERCE, honey. A mother who will torch entire cities to protect her kid, and honestly? Good for her.
Joey Romano: I would ruin my life for this man. A mafia man in a fedora who slow dances in hidden speakeasies? The way I would let him destroy me emotionally and thank him for it is... deeply embarrassing.
Antonio: My favorite. I wanted to wrap him in a blanket and fight his battles for him. I felt SO BAD for him—my stomach was in knots half the book—but thankfully, he gets the peace he deserves. I was STRESSED, okay?
Ben: A hot rogue cop. SAY. LESS. The law says one thing, Ben says “not today.” He’s morally gray with a badge and a smolder. Whew. Arrest me.
Paul & Marco: THE BANTER. THE BROTHERHOOD. The way they made me want to join the mafia just to hang out with them. Every line between them was gold. Loyalty, sass, and “ride-or-die” energy on full display. I’m obsessed.
Angela & Lucy: They OWN my soul. I want to drink Lucy's famous dirty martini's and dance at Angela's speakeasy, The Wise Guy.
And don’t think I forgot:
WHO KILLED VINCENT???
I’ve read every Frieda McFadden book in existence and made it my personal hobby to figure out plot twists (never figured it out successfully by the way)—and THIS? This has me STUMPED. I turned that final page, saw it was the end, and just sat there. Jaw on the floor. Lights on but no one home.

This isn’t just a story—it’s a psychological event. Zara has taken time to build a world, characters and a new fan.

I don’t read dark or mafia romance… but I do now. OKKKK???
And unless Zara drops Book Two IMMEDIATELY, I may not recover.

This had so much potential but it just didn't hit the spot for me. The concept and setting for this book was great, and I loved immersing myself into the world of the 50s. Old school mafia houses are just a classic - whether as a novel or a film.

One of the things that I love about mafia MMCs is that they love a feisty FMC. They want someone with a bit of fight who will stand up to them, and will be able to take the pressure that comes with being part of this world.

Adriana showed promise of this but then didn't live up to my hopes. She starts of strong but backs down every time, then states she doesn't want handouts and then he offers something else and she backs down again.

In one scene, Joey buys her a car which she baulks at, and storms off to his workplace to hand it back over but after some longing looks and a small chat she concedes, drives away in it and keeps it. No girl - you should've stuck to your guns, thrown the keys in his face and said you'd take the bus back or demand one of his team drives her home on this occasion and then she'll sort it out from there.

Yes, she didn't know the real reason that Joey bought the car but I still think there were moments where I would've loved to see her shed her old life, be a fiery mama bear and play harder with him.

Antonio, Adriana's son, was my favourite character. A typical teenage son, his involvement in this story pulls it along and creates the most tension and intrigue. You can see the internal battles he is facing where he is not quite a child anymore but not fully a man yet, all whilst having to step into the role of being the man of the house and try to protect his mom from their past.

Having said that, I do appreciate the overall narrative of the book, the different characters AND the cliffhanger that she left this book on. It's a promising debut novel that with a few tweaks as she grows confident in her writing style can become something spectacular.

Thank you so much to Zara Jade Astrid and Olive Press Publishing for providing me with an e-ARC of this book in exchange for a honest review. All my thoughts are my own.

I think the real question here is, what wouldn’t I do for a sinful bargain? because let me tell ya I would fling myself off a cliff if Joey Romano told me to🔥

This book was an absolute ride, and that cliffhanger? I’m still recovering. I need book two like yesterday. My soul is not at peace until I get answers!

I’m obviously obsessed with Joey 🥵 we love a man who isn’t afraid to be soft for his woman and actually admit it. Joey Romano didn’t just raise the bar, he walked in wearing a tailored suit and set it so high, I’m not sure any of my other book boyfriends will ever reach it again! Honestly, I’m shocked I can still stand with how many times I swooned over this fictional man.

Adriana was fierce, fearless, and the very definition of a mother willing to do whatever it takes. She did what she had to do to protect her son, and keep him safe. I connected with her deeply. She’s strong, resilient, and absolutely the kind of woman you can’t help but root for. Yes, queen. 👑

Oh, Antonio. I loved his dynamic with Joey and you could feel how fiercely protective Antonio is about his mother, even at just thirteen. The writing made it feel like you were right there with him, inside the mind of a kid making some tough decisions. 💔

Even the side characters were amazing !! Angela and Lucy were absolute gems. And Lucy? She is, without a doubt, my spirit animal. Sass, loyalty, and vibes for days. I’d follow her into any sequel, no questions asked. 🍸

I could go on about this book for days, weeks, months, even years because that’s how much I loved it. The romance, the danger, the characters it all pulled me in and refused to let go. Honestly, it made me want to build a time machine and travel straight to 1959 because this story convinced me that was the time to be alive.

So I ain’t sayin’ this lightly. This one’s the real deal. No baloney. You want somethin’ worth your time? Somethin’ that hits hard and leaves ya thinkin’? This is it. Ten outta ten. Go read it… or you’ll be sleepin’ with the fishes. Capisce? ✌️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ MASTERPIECE.

A debut novel?? You're kidding, right? I picked this book up not knowing what to expect—and when I put it down, I was absolutely blown away. I tried to wait before writing this review so I could gather my thoughts... but honestly, all I can say is: READ. THIS. BOOK. You won't regret it.

You can feel how much thought the author poured into this story. There’s even a section of discussion questions at the back—perfect for book clubs (which I’ll definitely be using). I had strong opinions about the characters... until I started reflecting on those questions and was like, “WAIT WHAT??” Total perspective shift.

Now let’s talk about what I LOVED (besides the plot twists—yes, plural—and the jaw-dropping ending):

Adriana is an absolute badass. The love she has for her son? Fierce. She will do anything for him. And I mean anything.
Joey—think Tony Soprano, but hotter... and always in a fedora. He’s got the toughness, but he’s not your cliché mafia guy. HE SLOWDANCES. In hidden speakeasies. STOP, I'm not over this yet.
Antonio (Adriana’s son) broke my heart. Weirdly enough, I related to him the most. (And his friends, Enzo and Michael).
AND THE SIDE CHARACTERS—Angela and Lucy?! SHUT. THE. FRONT. DOOR. They’re unforgettable.
If I could jump into this book and live in it, I would. I got completely lost in this story. Did I read it in two days? Yes. Did I ignore everything else in my life? Also yes. Do I regret it? Not even a little.

I read the ARC but you better believe I’m buying a finished copy the moment it’s out—just so I can relive it all over again.
Now ZARA please give me Book Two ASAP.
And if you haven’t read Book One yet? What are you doing?? GO!

Sinful Bargains is a beautifully tense, slow-burn mafia romance wrapped in found family, moral grayness, and 1950s grit. Set in a New York ruled by corruption and unspoken rules, the story follows Adriana, a single mother fleeing an abusive past with her teenage son, only to land squarely in the orbit of Joey Romano—a recently released mobster reclaiming his place and absolutely undone by her from the start. The chemistry between Joey and Adriana simmers instead of explodes, making every glance, every line, every almost-touch feel earned. Joey is the definition of obsessed-but-restrained, and Adriana is a refreshingly strong FMC who does what she must for her child, even when it means making impossible choices.
What truly elevates this story is the layered POVs—Adriana, Joey, and her son Antonio—which add emotional depth and tension you don’t often see done this well, especially with a child’s perspective woven in so naturally. The found family dynamics, the 1950s atmosphere, the “touch her and die” devotion, and the steadily tightening suspense all build toward a plot twist that hits hard… followed by a cliffhanger that left me staring at my Kindle in disbelief. While parts of the twist felt like they could’ve lingered longer, it’s impossible to deny how compelling this debut is. Gritty, emotional, slow-burning, and atmospheric, Sinful Bargains is a strong start to what promises to be an addictive series—and I’ll absolutely be there for book two.

Huge thank you to Olive Press Team and the author for the gifted e-copy in exchange for my honest review. This will also be a spoiler free review as I want other readers to experience this book for themselves!

The only information I’ll give you is that it’s set in the 1950’s and is a mafia/mobster inspired dark romance so expect that sort of vibe when getting into this book. This author did a beautiful job with the world building for this book. It definitely made me feel like I stepped into old school, post-war and post-speakeasy sort of vibes. Think of the godfather type of vibes and the era that it was set in and you will be able to visualize how Sinful Bargains looks! Adriana snagged my attention immediately from chapter one, considering how the scene plays out, it’s definitely a moment where you become invested in her story. Watching her try and build her life back up after what happened and then we meet Joey…

These two main characters were such fun getting to know. I personally loved what they stood for and how they had a slow burn to love and trust. I feel like Zara put a lot of love into these characters and I appreciate that as it really made Joey and Ariana feel so relatable. Two characters who would do whatever it takes for themselves yet also for each other just proved the survivor instincts that is innate in humans. I really enjoyed this one and I think a lot of other readers will enjoy it too, especially if the mafia is a genre you enjoy.

Sinful Bargains leans fully into dark romance tension, morally grey characters, and emotionally charged dynamics, and it does it in a way that feels intentional rather than purely shock-driven.

The strongest element here is the push and pull between the characters. The relationships feel layered, driven by power, desire, and complicated motivations rather than simple attraction. There’s a constant sense of tension underneath every interaction, which keeps the pacing engaging even in quieter moments. The emotional stakes build steadily, and when the story leans into its darker themes, it commits fully.

The atmosphere works especially well, seductive, dangerous, and just unsettling enough to keep you on edge. The author balances spice with story, allowing the tension and character dynamics to carry the emotional weight instead of relying solely on explicit scenes. For readers who enjoy morally grey characters, control dynamics, and romance that walks the line between obsession and vulnerability, this will absolutely hit.

Personally, I would have loved a bit more time spent deepening certain emotional beats before moving forward, but overall this was an immersive and compelling read that clearly sets the stage for more to come. The ending leaves you wanting the next installment immediately, which feels very intentional for this world. A strong entry for readers who enjoy darker romance with high tension, complicated characters, and an undercurrent of danger throughout.

Thank you to Zara for this amazing ARC!!

This book invaded my brain! Joey, Adrianna, and Antonio have lived in my brain rent-free for a bit now!

Joey definitely fit my "I can fix him" complex and I will always love and support a badass single mom! These characters stole my heart, and I was constantly on the edge of my seat!!

After a night she can never come back from, Adrianna has found herself on the run looking for any semblance of safety. However, she instead finds a dark-haired devil with a smile that might be her undoing.

Antonio only had his mom, school, his friends, and a dumb bully to worry about. But soon, things start to pop up around him that no one wants to explain (unless it's wrapped in lies). He's determined to find out the truth. Who is Joey? What's his deal with his mom? With him? And why do the papers keep associating him with...the mafia?

Joey Romano did his stint in prison and is now back to reclaim his position in the mafia. Except, a terrified mother and her teenage son soon enter his life. Now he must choose what's worth it, his old family he'd kill for, or the one he'd die for?

This is book 1 in the Sins of the Father series. Thankfully, it doesn't really end in a major cliffhanger...but I do look forward to reading the next book!!! (No cliffhanger, per se, but there are several things that I would have thought to be resolved if not part of a series, if that makes sense.)

I do love mafia romances...and I found this one to be a bit different - not the typical stereotype, which is nice to have a fresh plot.

I enjoyed the characters & thought the book was well written. It was a fast read, and I enjoyed it. Slow burn & a few spicy scenes & fast paced.

I loved it when Joey realized he had never really loved anyone...not even his Mom, but he was in love with Adriana & her son Antonio.

The book is told in 1st person POV between the 3 main characters - Joey, Adriana & her teenage son Antonio. Set in 1959 - although I didn't find anything to specifically link it to that time frame other than it was mentioned in the beginning...it could take place in the current year & not have to make any changes.

Thank you so much to the author (Zara Jade Astrid), publisher (Olive Press Publishing) & Netgalley for the ARC read. All opinions are my own.

All I can say is Joey and Adriana. I am so captivated by these dark romance books. I thought that the fantasy world had my heart but these dark romance novels are stealing my soul.

I often wondered what it would feel like for a book to have a chokehold on you and now I know after reading this.

Oir FMC Adriana is a woman on a mission. She vowed that she and her teenage son would never endure what they just left ever again. She will make sure that they have the life that they deserve. When I tell you the strength and determination of this woman is unstoppable. That is an understatement.

The best part for me was just when I thought I had it figured out, another twist would come and just keep me up half the night reading. That's how I know that this was a five star read for me. When I lose sleep because I don't want to put a book down ... its 100% ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

The slow burn was just the right amount for this story. However when the spice gets to sizzling, it was absolutely perfect and so worth the wait. You'd better run and add this to your TBR list now.

I was lucky enough to receive this book as an arc. i have recently started reading some mafia romance and this is a totally different feel than the ones i have read before.

This book is set in the 1950s and I absolutely felt like i jumped into a black and white detective movie. It’s a very plot driven book following a mother and her teenaged son as they escape an abusive family situation only to find themselves in a city run by the mafia and one of the high ranking members is very interested in them.

I loved that this story was told in three perspectives. We get Adriana, her son Antonio, and Joey the Staten Island local. It gave us insight into different aspects of the plot we wouldn’t have gotten otherwise and helped understand the perspective of all three major players.

If you enjoy mafia romance, solid spice, and are intrigued by a 50s vibe i highly recommend checking out this book. It does end on a bit of a cliffy but as a person who tried to chuck her kindle at the end of iron flame it’s not that level of cliff but I will definitely be reading the next one.

Sinful Bargains is a Mafia romance, following Adriana who is a single mother trying to find a new start with her 13 year old son, after fleeing from her abusive husband. She moves to a new town where she meets Joey. who is a high ranking mobster. He is obsessed with our FMC from the moment he lays eyes on her and he insists on helping and protecting her and her son, Antonio. We get:

☑️ Slow burn
☑️ Forced proximity
☑️ Fmc that’s just as mortally grey as our Mmc!
☑️ Dual POV
☑️ Possesive MMC with Red flags
☑️ Fmc accepts his red flags
☑️ 1950‘s Mafia romance & more

I loved this book! I gave it 5 stars! Reading It in just 2.5 days. It helped get me out of my book slump. I loved the 1950’s vibe. Our FMC is the best! Accepting the best and worst parts of our MMC. And I love how he is obsessed with her and the connection he forms with her son.. 👀🤐
It was a fast and easy read. & i cannot wait for book 2 to find out what happens next!

Sinful Bargains is a slow-burn mafia romance that unfolds like a roller coaster, driven largely by the yearning of the MMC and the kind of man he is. One of the things I appreciated most about this book was the presence of a strong female lead (something I personally prefer), and the FMC here truly holds her ground.

This isn’t a story that relies heavily on suspense or constant anticipation, but the final part genuinely took me by surprise. I’m especially glad that the book concludes with a HEA, which made the journey feel satisfying and complete. The writing style is simple and easy to follow, and the pacing is slow, as expected from a slow-burn romance, but it works well for the story being told.

Overall, this was a really good read, and it didn’t disappoint. I’m definitely looking forward to the other books in the series.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book is the epitome of Slow Burn 🔥

This book is set in the 1950s and still provides the Mobster/Gangster and Speakeasy feel that we all wish we could have been apart of. If you love(d) The Great Gatsby then this is the book for you!

The push and pull between Joey “The Shark” Romano and Adriana our Damsel in Distress had me wanting to throw my kindle! However, I knew as soon as I let go, I would immediately need it back in my clutches to see/read what happened next!

Angela and Lucy are the two best friends that I wish I could call up every day and ask for advice! They are fierce and support our Adriana with their Fem Power 💥

Antonio, 13, is trying to find his place in the world. He finds his best friends but is thrown into the Mafia world under duress and all he wants to do is protect his Ma, Adriana.

I am STILL screaming 😱 on the ending and cannot wait for book 2!!!

Okay wow!!!!! I couldn’t put this book down. Firstly, I love that it is set in the past, it feels very old school New York and I loved the setting and vibe and the description and detail that has gone into creating that atmosphere. It follows Adriana’s struggles and trying to rebuild her life, and the book truly does start with a BANG! I loved that it was dual POV, you really feel you can connect with the morally grey MMC through this and understand the choices he made a lot more. The spice was more towards the end of the book and a nice addition but the actual love story spoke for itself without those scenes as well. I truly fell in love with the characters we meet in this book, and I cannot wait to read book number two!!!!

Zara delivered Angst, slow burn, mafia, and touch her and ☠️ vibes.

I loved the character development between Joey and Adriana.
Adriana was definitely one of my favorite FMC’s I have read in a while. She did what she had to for her and her son! She ended up making friends and their dynamic was so funny I loved them.

Antonio’s POV was really cool to have in there too I haven’t had a book like that with the POV of a kid. I loved his relationship with Joey too and his friends.

Joey Romano🤤
Clearly obsessed, He was only soft for her. Definitely swoon worthy! He gave her everything he could and just loved her so much!

I definitely can’t wait for book two to see what happens with Adriana and Joey!

Sinful Bargains is a gritty mafia romance set in 1959 New York that immediately pulls you into the danger, corruption, and power of the Mafia. Adriana escapes her old life with her son in hopes of starting over, but instead finds herself in a town run by the mafia and squarely in the path of Joey Romano, a high ranking member who already has ties he shouldn’t break.

This story is tense, twisty, and full of suspense. The multiple POVs really made the story feel layered and emotional and I loved seeing part of the story through Adriana’s son’s eyes. If you enjoy your mafia romance a little dark, a little dangerous, and slow burning without too much spice, this one is so worth reading. And yes, I stayed up way too late finishing it only to hit the cliffhanger ending.

"I've loved you since the moment I saw you. And I've wanted you long before I even knew you existed."

Tension. Yearning. A dash of dangers and a pinch of gangster swagger. Sinful Bargains was a delightful 50's mafia romance.

It takes a lot for me to not get frustrated with a slow burn romance, and this one had me in a choke hold. The angst and yearning was perfection, while what was keeping them apart actually worked really well within the plot and wasn't just drawn out for the sake of it.

The twists are enough to keep you hooked on the edge of your seat and wanting more, and that's to say nothing of the cliffhanger at the end. I'll take book two now, please!

I received this book as an arc from NetGalley. This is my first book from Zara and I enjoyed it. I am a sucker for Mafia books and the setting of this book being in the 1950s was even more interesting. The MMC falling for the FMC and wanting to provide for her and her son so they didn't need anything. I loved how the MMC treated the FMCs son like his own and he was always there for her son. I enjoyed the suspense of seeing if the son would go through with shooting the MMC and when he did and the MMC survived the worry of what would happen to the son once the MMC found out it was him. I was caught off guard with the cliffhanger at the end. Now I have to wait for book two to know how the MMC and FMC end up.
