The concept of mice appearing, tearing the page of the number is a great and fun concept. My three year old enjoys revisiting such books where she already knows her numbers.

One mouse starts out all alone on a blank page when he gets the idea to tear out the numbers. To his surprise, as he begins to cut out the number 2, he discovers another mouse peeking through. The count continues, and as each number comes free, so does another mouse as the hole spreads to deeper layers of paper. At 10, they celebrate together, but it is short lived, for a surprise awaits them beyond the deepest page. Like the other Mouse books, this one is textless and focuses on a concept rather than narrative. The mice all look the same, but each is worth examining for its individual expressions and cute actions.
