Father Green never misses! Talks a lot about the darkness in the ordinary life. It's insane. Blindness. A lot of acts of faith. His stories are awesome and it's such a short read. You do need to ready "When the Well Runs Dry" first...
There's one particular idea/passage that is theologically wrong, I'm pretty sure... That's why it gets 4 starts, and also, the book is just one idea... so it's very simple.
Very powerful book for me on struggles with desert places in prayer. Why do we wind up in bad circumstances--a difficult supervisor, people who misunderstand us, not being appreciated for the gifts we have to bring? Green explores how deeply God allows exactly those circumstances so that he can do a deep, deep refining work in us to bring us closer to God and make us more who we were always meant to be.
3.5 maybe just under 4 stars. a little boring, something about his writing style. In the beginning, i felt like there were probably books covering the same info but better written. But i decided to stick with it. Admittedly ended up taking notes (not my book) as there were points of good insight, haha. Finished in one day. I admit some parts i did read very quickly/skim intentionally (but that wouldn’t have made a difference since I can be a fast reader). Perhaps i could’ve been more prayerful with the book, but book also felt a bit tedious. Maybe i just don’t have the patience right now...
