Women's Health Perfect Body Diet: The Ultimate Weight Loss and Workout Plan to Drop Stubborn Pounds and Get Fit for Life

Let's face it-women simply do not shed pounds or build muscle as easily as men do. Drawing on fascinating recent research that has shed new light on the gender differences in food metabolism and the effect of exercise, the editors of Women's Health, the healthy lifestyle magazine for today's active woman on the go, have devised a weight-loss plan that works especially well for women who would like to lose 5-25 pounds.

Key features of Women's Health Perfect Body Plan
-Glucomannan, a soluble fiber that helps dieters feel full faster-and therefore eat less throughout the day
-Meal plans that contain at least 40 grams of fiber per day
-An adjustment for the impact of female hormones on weight loss (women need a higher protein diet than men to increase lean body tissue and decrease body fat)
-Dieting techniques that revolve around psychological needs and personal goals and lifestyle
-Two diet plans to choose from-one higher in fats and lower in carbs; the other higher in carbs and lower in fats (simple food tests help women choose the type they need)

In addition to the customized eating plan-complete with 75 easy-to-prepare recipes-there is a vigorous customized fitness program consisting of 50 exercises that brings results in just three weeks.

I bought this because I like the author, Cassandra Forsythe, and because I wanted to see the workouts. It was interesting. I liked most of the workouts, and the idea of using glucomannan in foods. I wasn't totally in love with the idea of any of the recipes or such a large use of artificial sweeteners, but that is just me.

Am I thinking I'm going to go out and buy glucomannan capsules break them open and mix in all my foods? Yes. Will I actually do it? Probably not. It's amazing how enthusiastic I can get without following through.
More importantly as Dr. Jonny said in my previous weight loss book, limiting carbs is whats all important and this reiterates that.
These authors think you can eat 50 percent more carbs one day every two weeks and that will actually help your weight loss effort, kind of greasing your weight loss mechanisms. i like that. While on a diet once in a while I just eat more no matter how I try to figure it because I'm in a situation where I don't have much control and even believing this is true, that cheating once in a while actually helps weight lass is very comforting.

Criticism:The weight that these authors think you can weigh is not possible. I resent that there is no consideration for the older person whose body is not getting to 120 ever again.

This diet is way too complicated. Maybe if they updated it by supplying an app to do all of their complicated math for me....

Another fad type approach that will not hold up in the long run. Some good points, but overall, not worth remembering years later.

Better than I had expected. Science based approach and specific meal plans, recipes, and workout plans. I like the practical approach that I can incorporate into my lifestyle immediately.

I bought this book because I am a big fan of Cassandra's work. She is always working to bring up-to-date, scientific, fact based information to the public. She is not the type of professional to promote fad diets. I couldn't find the glucomanan (sp?) supplement and I found that to be frustrating. I'd like to get optimal nutrition and body composition results with out a hard to find supplement or any special supplement at all.
She is spot on with her advice and I'll still use many of her suggestions in this book.

I am sure the diet works, but it is not geared towards women with families. It would never work out for me to follow this diet completely. I did learn a lot from the studies cited. I also have started trying the supplement glucomannan.

There was some interesting information in this, but I'm most anxious to try out some of the recipes and see how they are. However, from experience I don't think the diet for my body shape is the one that would work best for me.

Didn't finish this, but like the concept.
Had to return the book to library.
Will check it out again to read more about this "diet".

Has some good information about nutrition but counting calories???? Not for me. Sensible eating, smaller portions and moving more. They're the keys.
