When Emma gets pulled over for speeding, the last thing she expects is for the cop to decide that his handcuffs would look a lot better on her than they do on his belt. Maybe her plan to own her sexuality by wearing a BDSM necklace wasn't her best idea. Then again, seeing the heat in the man's eyes as he orders her out of her car, maybe it was the best idea she's ever had.
Drew can't believe the risk he takes when he makes a move on the speeder in the convertible, but she's damn near irresistible. When their encounter turns into an amazing afternoon of play, he knows he has to keep seeing her, even if it goes against all the rules he's set for himself.
Neither Emma nor Drew is in the right place to start a relationship, so they agree to keep playing as long as they're having fun together. And they are having a lot of fun together, especially when Drew's best friend comes to town. Two men, one woman, and a sailboat. A recipe for pleasure, but how do Emma and Drew keep their hearts from wanting more than their practical lives are willing to deliver?

This read a little different than the normal BDSM books. Thought it was an enjoyable read.
Safety first and always. That's a rule I think most of us tend to live by. With that said, I couldn't possible enjoy this story as it falls into the category of dangerous. And not just dangerous by itself but stupid dangerous.
Emma is a college student who is recently out in the world of bdsm as a submissive, so she wears this necklace that supposedly allows doms to know upon seeing that she has declared her kink? Whatever. She decides to go on vacation for a week and her boss rents her this cool convertible so she can drive with the top down. When she's pulled over for speeding on a deserted stretch of road, instead of the cop reprimanding her for it he spots the necklace and his inner dom comes out to play.
She goes back to his place and they play a role and get it on. With no questions asked. Why? because he's a cop and cops aren't regular people who could possibly have a screw loose or anything, they are above that all. They are always on the up and up. No. No. You fail at life, Emma. But obviously everything is okay because they have this great fling - and a fling is all it is because neither wants or could handle more. Until it isn't a fling anymore because officer dom-body brings his bff into the game - but only for one little taste then he realises that he wants Emma for himself. Alone. No sharing. Then it's Emma's turn to be all wishy-washy and unable to decide whether she wants the guy or not.
It was all very blah to me. The sex scenes were over the top, especially the threesome which came across as super awkward and unnecessary and made no sense. Maybe doing that was supposed to push the non-existent plot along, I don't know. In the end this didn't work for me at all. It was just mad crazy that a young woman - on her own - would follow a guy back to his place to play a game of "you're the boss of me" with not even an introduction. Stranger danger, girl. Stranger. Danger. That is all.

This is the first story I’ve ever read by this author and I was definitely not disappointed. I really enjoy stories like this where it’s obvious to the reader that the main characters are in love, it just takes them a bit longer to realize it. Part of the fun is seeing how long it takes them to realize it and what events bring them to that realization. KB Alan does a thorough job of chronicling the process of Drew and Emma falling in love without being obvious. There are subtle clues that help the reader come to the conclusion on their own.
Drew is a cop who pulls Emma over for speeding when she is on her way to visit a sex club. She’s wearing a necklace that identifies her as a submissive and he immediately asserts his dominance over her, against his better judgement. They start a dom/sub affair but Drew is hesitant to define it as a relationship. Still, they have an undeniable sexual connection and the more time they spend together, they become friends as well. Their dynamic is loving and friendly. I enjoyed the teasing banter between them. It seems as though they enjoy being together, even if neither of them want a relationship.
When Emma is introduced to Drew’s best friend Toby, the hotness factor kicks up a few notches. The trio engages in activities that range from sweet and loving to steamy and erotic. (The author gives quite a bit of background on Toby so we get to know him pretty well and I hope there will be a book about him coming soon.)
Once Emma and Drew are left to their own devices again, it’s interesting to watch the push and pull that goes on with Drew. His indecision is obvious. One minute he’s refusing to take her in public and the next he’s taking her to meet his parents. Toby seems to be the only one who has a decent grasp of what is really going on between Drew and Emma but Drew, in his bull-headed alpha-male way, isn’t listening to him.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would definitely read more works by this author. It certainly has some pretty steamy sex scenes and just the right amount of angst to keep you wondering if they’ll make it in the end.
Having read Book 1 featuring Taryn, Caleb and Richard which I really enjoyed, I went looking for the next in the series. Found all 3 and downloaded.
Sorry to say but Perfect Alignment just didn’t do it for me at all. It started off interestingly enough, the first meeting between Emma and Drew was novel. It became even more interesting when Toby arrived and they went sailing.
When Drew decided not to have Toby involved in the threesome it became very boring. I liked Toby and hope he gets a book of his own.
About halfway through I began to dislike Drew, his selfishness, his bossiness, and closed-off personality.
Emma has a lovely family and great friends, she actually worked in Taryn’s Coffee Shop and was also friends with Caleb and Richard. These 3 play an important part in Emma’s life.
So, no, too much controlling in this one for my liking. I raced through the remainder of the book, skimming over the pages like a dragonfly over still water.
I will read the two next in this series and hope I feel a bit warmer to the MC’s in the story.
This is possibly one of the worst books I've ever read. Not only did I completely loathe all the characters but, there was so much annoying crap in this book. I've actually been debating for a few days if I even wanted to review it because, I just don't want to spend more time on this book if I have to. Plus, I'd most likely word vomit on all the 'why's' I hated this book so much. With that said, this isn't going to be your typical book review. Why? Here let me tell you why. This usually would be the part that I would give you some insight on the plot of the book & the characters except, there was absolutely NO plot to this book. Literally NO plot. This book was 20 something chapters of just sex. IT wasn't even good, hot sex either. It was cringe worthy, awkward sex. These 2 characters felt so forced when they were together that I skipped a lot of their sexual encounters. Speaking of sexual encounters, it wasn't only cringe worthy between Emma & Drew (heroine & hero) but, once they added Drew's best friend Toby, it was unbearable. Worst menage in a book ever. It was all just so unsexy, awkward, not hot, and it seemed really forced. Now, mind you I don't mind books that have lots of sex but, when it's not good sex then forget about it.
So, Drew's a cop & he meets Emma by pulling her over for speeding. Once he hands her a ticket they literally start fucking because she has this magical necklace that somehow let's him know that she's a sub. Yup, Emma bought herself a super necklace that somehow lets these men know that she's into bdsm & that she's a sub. This friggin necklace isn't explained for some time into the book either. So, the whole time you're reading & this necklace keeps being brought up (and because she wasn't collared by a Dom) you're thinking "if she wasn't collared by a dom how do all these people know what this necklace means? does it say "hey I'm a sub looking for a Dom?" So Emma technically collared herself. Which I guess is kinda funny & sad. This necklace should've been explained the moment it was brought up, like maybe in the beginning of the book. I also didn't understand why Emma & Drew were so concerned about people finding out about their kinky sex life. Were they going to be going around telling people? It's no one else's business what they do in the bedroom. They were afraid to commit to each other because they were afraid people would find out about their kinky fuckery & that Drew would lose his job as a cop (if he were to lose his job it should be over how fucked Emma the moment he handed her that ticket). That was the focal point of their non relationship, relationship. It became annoying really quickly. Also, Emma whining about how she was moving back to Cali became wicked annoying too. In conclusion, this book sucked. There was no plot, the characters were highly unlikable, the writing wasn't all that great and the sexiness was zero.
I don't think I can fault the book for anything outside of this not being the triad I thought it was going to be.
On paper all the sex worked, but it didn't get me going as much as others have. I guess I’m not into the submission thing that much.
I was upset with Drew for most of the book until we got to see his folks. It didn't completely make up for his attitude, but it helped me agree with Emma’s take on his outlook.
The ending, if you can call it that, was realistic as in our lives don't have ”Happy ever after” perfect endings. We find someone, the parties involved believe what they have more than what works for them, and life continues
But knowing all that, it felt like we were still left with questions that should have been settled.
If the author sticks around in this town, those answers could be given to us during the reading of future books.
So this is the 2nd book I have read by this author. I wasn't sure how I felt after the first book so l decided to read another book by her. So in some ways the book was fast paced but others times it just seemed to drag to the point where I literally skipping pages!! Not paragraphs but actual pages. Then when we got to the end well I read it 4 times wondering if I was missing a chapter it just ended. No ease in to it, no epilogue, nothing to indicate we were coming to the end other than the excerpt to a new book. If I could have given it two and a half stars I would have😕
The H is police officer, stops h for speeding, sees she is submissive and takes her home. He lives in isolation, has trust issues and is scared of being outed for his lifestyle. He is so drawn by the h, he crosses a lot of personal boundaries for her. She has a great family, raised to be strong, has had sadness in her life, but knows herself and is proud of who she is. Loved how she helped him to face his fears. Menage is play not permanent but a kindness for the other H.
There's some menage, but this is mainly a story of a couple.
She is a sub and he's Dom. They do something not very safe in the beginning (she goes to his house and they scene without knowing him at all).
The conflict is that he thinks he doesn't want a relationship. And she plans on going across the country to her hometown after she graduates college at the end of the school year. So everything starts with a time limit.
Not my favourite story, I wasn't a huge fan of Drew which is possibly why I didn't really enjoy this book. It got hot in places but I felt something was missing. Perhaps it was just the spark I wanted from Drew
The characters are easy to get to know, the story is easy but not boring. So many times I caught myself smiling and truly enjoying...... and staying up way to late to keep reading! Definitely on to the next book!
Great beginning! Some slow parts after the middle and abrupt end. Lots and lots of erotic scenes with a lot of creativity! Even had some vanilla, non-BDSM which was sweet. I felt like a voyeur with how interesting and creative it was. I think if it had been written in the first person and especially dual first person POV, it could have been better.
A cop, Drew, stops a speeding young woman, Emma, who is driving too fast and spots a BDSM symbol necklace around her neck. It probably had the following logo in silver tone...
So, having spotted that, and getting ideas, he then hands her the ticket, and she accepts it with a pleasant thanks. Definitely a sub, most people would be bitchy or sullen at that point, and all he sees are Go signs, and then he can't stop from then ordering her out of he car and to put her hands behind her neck, he walks around her and he pointedly takes off his gun and belt, locks it in his car, turns off his car cam, then he's back to "check out" her body with a bit of thoroughness. They do some role playing that is super flirty, fun and HOT....Later, she follows his car home where after they've exchanged pertinent info, back in role playing mode he says, "You have the right to be silent...or scream my name when you come!"
After this exciting introduction, they adjust to being F-buddies. Emma is in her last year of college and will be moving back to California after that. Drew doesn't do "relationships".....but then they are a little bit more than F-buddies, as they can't stop from talking for hours when they talk to each other on the evenings they don't see each other. And then Drew can't stop from mentioning Emma to his best bud, Toby, who he has had menages with in the past. Those menages were, in fact, with Toby's wife, who died about a year ago and they are both sad about it, Toby of course much more so. Although Toby was married, he is Bi and a Sub.
The middle of the book had some pacing issues, and although the menages with Toby were unique and interesting, the fact that Toby was so emotionally delicate kind of made it not as much of a turn on, it was a bit worrisome, as both Drew and Emma were concerned for him too. I think the menages were quite intimate,
Drew is a great Dom though, because he's so responsible and considerate with Emma (and also Toby in the menages). He is not completely emotionally accessible however, he won't take Emma "out" in public on a real date, for example, and doesn't take her to a club either! There are a LOT of sexy scenes with toys, with interesting set ups and with and without kink!
This also qualifies as an interracial romance because Emma is half asian/Latina I think. I don't remember exactly but describes Emma at having a little bit of a golden tan to her skin, which Drew just finds to be a turn on. Everything about Emma turns him on, and he's just insatiable with her
But then, they both struggle with taking that next step to decide whether to break up or be "bf-gf" and plan a future together.
The ending was great, just different and that last love scene was SO SO amazing!
This was an interesting and creative Ménage and BDSM book but with a different POV (or two) could be even better! Great for fans of creative BDSM erotica.

Seriously what isn't there to like about this book, the start pulls you in right away. I didn't realise that when I started this book is was number 2 in the series but that didn't seem to matter, I was able to pick up the story line, right away. I loved this book for many reasons. First was the whole storyline itself. Where two people come together for a common love of something in common, add to that the fact that this brings them closer together and the two find themselves falling in love with each other. Insert a hot few weeks with the guys heartbroken best friend. And you have one very hot story line. The characters are written so well and as I have said the story line is fantastic. Andrew (Drew) is a Dom in hiding and finds it hard to have time for this life style with the job he has. He is a police officer and doesn't want to be found out. He isn't looking for anything long term he just wants something on the side until he meets Emma. He pulls Emma over in the police car after catching her speeding, she blows him away with the way she responds to getting a ticket and he finds his needs coming to the surface. Emma is a care free female who works in a coffee shop, she has a very open mind and is open to all things with her sexuality. She buys a BDSM necklace from the club she is a member of to remind her to enjoy her last year before moving back home with her parents as she needs to be the perfect daughter. She isn't so much looking for anything long term but finds herself craving what her boss Taryn has. Taryn is married to two males and is very happy in this situation. Emma wants that sort of fit, wants to have that love that respect. They both seem to fit with each other and enjoy the threesome that they have together. They don't realise that the respect they have for each other is turning into so much more than they expected and it seems to blow them both away with it. This book is a hot and spicy read with that all too real romance to go with it. If you do not enjoy to read anything BDSM, or anything with M/M involved this book is not for you. The author deserves the 5 star rating and I for one cannot wait to pick up the next book. Thankyou for taking the time to read my review
Perfect Alignment, Perfect Fit 2.0, KB Alan Review from jeannie zelos book reviews
This sounded a decent read, I do enjoy some spice in my romances....it started well, and I was quickly pulled in to the story. It certainly packs heat with plenty of well written and varied sex scenes ( sometimes they get terribly repetitive...). I liked Emma and Drew to begin with, but as time passed and the story continued I began to get irritated with them for limiting what could be such a good thing between them. For being obsessed with sticking to their original plan. For not being more open minded. When Drew's friend Toby enters the mix ( and that's fun!) then he too tells Drew he's being short sighted. I just didn't feel either of their reasons were really valid * shrug* just didn't seem worth putting a time limit on what they had. Drew did annoy me with his insistence on secrecy, and for him and Toby the constant “risking their jobs if caught” vibe. Is it really that bad in US? BDSM is pretty mainstream now, and I can't see that it would affect people's jobs here in UK to the degree they couldn't even go out for a meal together. How is anyone going to know whats going on behind closed doors when they're eating in public ( food that is...) It's not like they were doing anything extreme or illegal. Still, maybe I'm wrong and the risk is real, dunno? The break up/make up bit wasn't strong enough for me, it was over so soon that I didn't really feel they even separated. I need lots of emotion and usually the break up/being caught out/something like that gives it to me, and is a major force in my enjoyment of the novel, but in this book it just seemed glossed over in a couple of pages. So – the erotica part – full marks, varied and interesting, very sensual and erotic, but the romance side, the story backing the sex scenes was just too thin for me :-( Lacked drama and emotion. Stars: Three – parts were excellent, but the story itself just didn't grab me. ARC provided via Netgalley and publishers
Emma decides she is going to live her last year of college to the fullest the way she wants to love it. In doing so, she fastens her BDSM collar onto her neck and sets out in her rented convertible for a fun weekend in Boston in a club. The last thing she expects is to be pulled over for speeding and meet a man that fulfills all her desires.
Drew isn't looking for an complications in his life and can't believe his luck when he pulls Emma over only to find she is the perfect submissive looking for just the type of relationship he is looking to give. No strings, they see each other as often as they can and enjoy each other until it's time for Emma to move on.
But the more time they spend together, the more things are changing and when the time comes for Emma to decide, how will she choose?
I want to start this review by reminding everyone that this is an erotic contemporary romance novel. I have learned that as long as I go into these books expecting not much more than hot sex, I won't be disappointed...therefore, my reviews for these types of books are a little different. Basically, I rate it based on how well the sex scenes are written and the heat factor.
The storyline flows quickly and it doesn't take long for things to get started with these two. Unlike a lot of other erotic romances, this is not a short story. It is long and full of a lot of hot sex. Drew is a Dom, Emma is his sub...throw in Drew's best friend who is also a sub and you have got some crazy sex. This one is not for the faint of heart...M/M/F action where the other sub male is the focus of all the attention...different than what I have read before in this genre and not for everyone.
More sex ensues with a little bit of drama and indecision thrown in all leading up to a presumed HEA for these two.
Overall, I enjoyed it. If you are looking for a hot steamy read that will make you want to find your significant other and jump on them, lol, this one is for you.
I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review an ARC of this book.
A hard book for me to review. I know a lot of people will be bothered by the opening chapter, where Emma goes off with Drew for some erotic fun. That didn't bother me so much. I just had to let myself look at this as a fantasy read, not something meant to be seen as realistic, and once I was able to get into that mindset, I could roll with what some might see as an absurd situation.
There were definitely some interesting scenarios depicted here, both with Emma and Drew and then later with Drew's friend. Again, nothing I had a problem with, but nothing that really floated my boat, either. Mostly I found myself getting bored. I put this book aside a few times and had a hard time finishing it. I think part of the problem was that I didn't really feel much emotion or love between Emma and Drew. The author wrote about the passage of time, saying that they enjoyed dinners and movies together, but there weren't any real details given. A lot of tell but no show, I guess.
I also didn't understand Drew's reluctance to have a more public relationship with Emma. I understand why he wouldn't want his work colleagues to know he was into the whole BDSM club scene, but still, taking Emma out on a real date wouldn't have revealed anything of that private side of his life. It just seemed like a wrench thrown into the plot that didn't really need to be there.
Anyway, despite my struggles with this book, I was very happy with the resolution Drew and Emma were given at the end!
Emma is in her last year of college and then she will head back to the West Coast to help her parents run the family store. When she goes to Boston for a little me time, she gets pulled over for speeding and she get more than a speeding ticket. Drew can't believe what he is going to do with Emma, the risk he is taking. But it turns out that they both enjoy the playtime they share. They decide that they will have fun until her year is over and not let feelings come in to play. Well that is hard for Emma, but Drew has a wall up that he is protecting from everyone except him best friend Troy. Drew didn't have a loving childhood and after troy's wife Catherine died, he doesn't believe that love is for him. Can Emma change his mind? What will happen when Troy comes to visit and he meets Emma? Will there be a three-some in her future? Will Drew let his walls down and see if Emma is the one for him? This is a first for me from K.B. Alan and I loved it, can't wait for more, Perfect Stranger (coming soon) and I'm going back to read Perfect Formation (book 1) soon. **Copy provided by the publisher through Netgalley**
Emma meets Drew while speeding. He pulls her over and notices her necklace, a symbol only in the BDSM lifestyle would notice. Instead of writing her a ticket, he gets to become the true Dom that he is. They roll play for a few minutes on the side of the road until things get very heated and take it to his home. Emma is trying to finish off her last year of college with a bang (pun intended). She's into the BDSM lifestyle, but she knows when she returns to California, she may have to revisit the vanilla world, one she really does not want to do.
Drew is harboring some issues from his past, but he cannot deny his attraction towards Emma. He proposes they start a relationship but with the knowledge that Emma will be leaving after her graduation. He is very guarded with his feelings, not feeling any type of love from his parents. Then when his best friend's wife dies, he doesn't feel he deserves love.
Lots of steamy sexy between these two. Can Emma really leave Drew after knowing she has fallen in love? Can Drew really let her go? You must read to find out. Very good book, quick read.
An ARC was provided by the publisher via Net Galley for an honest review.
Emma has decided that her last year in college will be lived well. This will be done before she has to hide her desire when she goes back home to work in the family business. She has put on her BDSM choker and decided to go to the city to visit her favorite club for the night. Before she gets far however she is pulled over for speeding by Drew. He is the loner cop who not only notices the collar but cannot seem to stop himself from ordering her out of her car and bending her to his will. It backfires and Emma has seemed to capture the cop.
This story was a typical lovestory but still held my attention until the end. The love scenes were so hot. The author did a really good job at writing this book and keeping the story going on an even level. There were no real surprises.
At some times in the book there was a bit of a lag but nothing really noticable. The relationship seemed to have no real problems either which made the book a bit boring at times.
I had not read the one previous to this one and there is a sample at the end. Really good start!! I enjoyed Emma and Drew. The way they meet and their connection is there. I think that these characters were strong and enjoyed their scenes. The fact that they start out their relationship with no long term and no dating or no sleeping with other people seemed like a good idea..in the beginning! Well, things change and people change and with Drew's past can he overcome his issues? Emma is sweet and loving and is on the same page as Drew. They have there moments and she decides that she has changed and that includes her feelings as well. I wanted more of an ending and maybe even a prologue. I still enjoyed it and may even read the one prior to this book.
I received this ARC from the publisher via Net Galley for my honest review!
I didn't read the first book, Perfect Formation, and wasn't lost when I started this one. But I do plan on going back to read it after the teaser chapter at the end of this one.
Ok, when I was reading I read "necklace" as "collar" and I couldn't figure out how a Dom would mess with a collared sub without her Dom's permission. I almost stopped reading but then she described the necklace and, of course, I had to go look up BDSM symbols. Then we were all good. That was the weirdest menge scene I've ever read, but I do hope Toby gets his own book. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and boy was that a punishment I never want to be on the receiving end of. There is a novella, Perfect Fit, up next when was briefly alluded to in this book that sounds good.
Emma is a sub and she's been pulled over by Drew, who happens to be a Dom. They start off their relationship and agree it's a not a committed relationship. They also agree that they won't sleep with other people. There is alot conduit sex and even some threesome action. There is alot of indecision on both parts and I'm assuming they get their HEA. I really enjoyed the book, it's hit and steamy.
I was given a copy by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is a very different kind of read for me. Had some cringing moments but overall not too smutty. I hadn't read the first book in the series but that didn't matter. Characters were likeable and the writing well done.
Such a bummer that I received a review copy off Netgalley only days before it archived...but the licence was still valid...just got around to reading it and WOW...similar in all the good ways to The Reluctant Dom...but really good character development and genuine romance! Loved it!
