I shouldn’t want him. I shouldn’t lie awake at night imagining how his hands would feel on my skin or how his mouth would taste against mine. But Christian Crawford has been my deepest, darkest fantasy since the moment I met him. I’ve tried to bury my feelings for my boyfriend’s father. I’ve tried to pretend that the chemistry between us was one-sided, but every time that cowboy looks at me like I’m already his, I forget who I’m supposed to be loyal to. He’s the one man I should never touch, and I’ve never wanted anything more.
She’s the one line I should never even think about crossing. She’s too young, too wrapped in every kind of wrong. And my son’s girlfriend. But Piper got under my skin the second she stepped into my world. Sweet, stubborn Piper, who's all fire, and a temptation I never saw coming. I told myself it was nothing more than a passing thought. But there’s nothing passing about the way I watch her. There’s nothing innocent about the way I want her. I know it’s wrong. I know touching her would destroy everything. But somewhere between the guilt and the longing, I started falling for her. And now that I have… I don’t know how to stop.
HOT DADDY COWBOY!! Ex boyfriend’s dad…. As soon as he said ‘fuck it’ I was🧎🏾♀️
I absolutely devoured this book it was so good. What a power couple! I was so worried there was going to be a miscommunication trope thrown in the middle but they’re too good for that shit 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
It’s official! I’ve entered my cowboy romance era and it’s all thanks to Lea Rose!!
I am a sucker for age gap, especially of the ex’s father variety, so I was already sold on this. When I heard it was going t0 pop my western romance cherry, I was extra intrigued, and Lea did not let me down!!
What I loved about the book: 1. Duh, age gap!! Bonus points for ex’s father and curvy FMC.
2. I loved how hard of a worker Piper was. She came from a really rough background and could have ended up in a really bad position in life. But thanks to her wonderful (and hilarious) sister Violet and her determination and grit, Piper was a wonderful worker not just for Callan at the bar, but during her “time off” helping Christian at the tree farm. I love in age gap romances where the younger FMC is a super capable woman who knows how to handle her own life and doesn’t need the MMC to save her. It definitely helps with not creating a power imbalance and really makes you not even realize there is an age difference based on their personalities and overall places in life (especially when the FMC is forced to grow up early, like Piper and Violet were).
3. Daddy Christian!!! Always trying to be a gentleman and do the right thing, but it was so devastating that he never opened up and let anyone take care of him. I loved that he found Piper who was so willing to do anything and everything to give him the love he so deserved and needed but wouldn’t ask for, and how he had her back every step of the way as well. He was a man who took control of his life and stepped up in every aspect that he needed to, which is incredibly hot. I loved how he fell so hard for her first, and definitely before his son came into the picture, but he stood down letting her go…until he didn’t!!!
4. I really love the small town of Rosewood Falls that these sisters moved to!! I love that it’s full of hot cowboys and fierce women who can keep them in their places. I seriously can’t wait to see more couple of Rosewood Falls!
5. Speaking of, I’m going to need Violet’s and Callan’s story ASAP!!!! These two are fire in the best ways possible, always fighting and creating that incredible tension that you know is going to blaze strong, especially in the bedroom 😉 On the sweeter side, I can’t wait for Colton and Savannah!!
6. The book was incredibly funny. It was not a romcom, don’t get me wrong, but the inner monologues of Piper were downright hilarious and had me laughing loudly at several points. Her sarcasm and quick wit definitely endeared her to me early.
7. The spice was ample and fantastic!! There was so much juicy tension throughout the book that when the f*ck it moment came, it was so delicious and they just couldn’t keep their hands off each other (yay for us readers!)
8. Lastly, I loved that we got to see plenty of Travis, her boyfriend and then ex / Christian’s son. We didn’t just get to hear a one-sided story of events about his terribleness, we got to witness it countless times and we got to see him make the decision very easy for Christian to decide Piper over him. Typically, we like to see the father not choosing anything over the son, but Travis made everything so bad that it would have pissed me off if this book went that direction, so I was glad it didn’t 🤣 Christian definitely struggled with letting him go, but the right call was made.
Thank you to Lea Rose for the opportunity to read this book. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.
Where We Burn by @authorlearose Book 1 in Rosewood Falls series Available 08.14.2025 5/5⭐️ 3/5🌶️
I can hardly find the words to describe how much I loved this book, but here goes...
Where We Burn is a beautifully written take on the timeless trope: wanting what you can’t, or maybe shouldn’t have is more like it! It’s forbidden, it’s angsty, it’s filled with mutual pining, and from the very first page, it grabs you and doesn’t let go. Seriously BOTH times I read it I couldn’t put it down!
Rosewood Falls completely stole my heart, but it was Christian Crawford who had me absolutely swooning like a hopeless romantic. I was feral for this dirty-talking, no-nonsense cowboy with a heart of gold, the kind of man who always puts others first... until the moment he finally decides he’s worthy of happiness too. That moment? PERFECTION.
Then there’s Piper. She’s fiery, fierce, and determined. With her sister at her side, she goes after what she wants, and their unbreakable bond (shaped by a difficult past) tugged hard on my heartstrings and I loved their dynamic.
And as for Travis? All I’ll say is: F that punk. Seriously.
I’ve been OBSESSED with this book for months. I love everything about it and cannot wait to dive into Colt and Callan’s stories, seriously these Crawford men are swoon worthy!
So if you’re into scorching tension, heartfelt emotion, and cowboys who know how to talk dirty and love hard, Where We Burn needs to be at the top of your TBR. Run, don’t walk.
Thank you author Lea Rose for the arc. I can’t wait to see what else this series has in store for us!
Huge thank you to Lea Rose for having me be apart of your ARC team! This was an easy 5 star read for me and I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did 🤍
This was my first Lea Rose book and it certainly will not be my last! Lea wrote an engaging and fast paced storyline that had me hooked from the first page! I was a woman possessed reading this and I could not put this down.
Leah wrote really great characters! To start, Christian was… daddy. He was just daddy. I don’t know what else to tell you besides the fact that he was daddy. Like big daddy energy. I said what I said 🤷🏼♀️. He was swoon worthy, protective and thoughtful.
Next up was our girl Piper! Piper was everything I love to see in a FMC! Feisty, strong, independent with a good head on her shoulders… add in the fact that she is not a stick figure and is confident in her own skin… I love her. I have no notes.
Christian and Piper’s story was so good. Their chemistry was off the charts. Their dynamic was really well written. Like they both book such good care of one another while working to obtain their happy ending. Their storyline felt unique and I did not expect it to pan out the way it did but I loved it!
Lea also did a great job writing great side characters. I loved every single side character (for the most part cough cough I hope Travis gets glass in the windpipe) and their role in the story. Especially Callan!! This book was the perfect build up for Violet and Callan’s book!… which I am literally foaming at the mouth for. I need it so badly!! Their banter was absolutely killing me!! Overall, this book felt like a great introduction to all the key players of the future books and I can’t wait to see what Lea has in store for this series!!
Would I suggest this to a friend? Yeah. Would I reread? Yeah! Will I continue with the series? Hell yeah!! Do I need a trophy? Oh certainly… don’t tell David 😂😂
⚠️ Here are my unhinged reading notes! Please proceed with caution as there may be minor spoilers ahead! ⚠️
Travis just screams little bitch boy behavior 🤷🏼♀️ Omg the way Travis just handled entering the bar with Violet had my blood boiling. I hope he acquires glass in the windpipe. Christian’s first chapter?? 🫠🫠 I’m locked tf in. I would like to formally punch Travis in the fckn teeth. “Read to me, darling.” I am going to need physical help to get my jaw up off the floor. I want to slap Travis seven ways to Sunday or whatever. Is it wrong that I’m over here all like, “don’t even bother breaking up with Travis… just cheat on him with his hot as sin father,” or like are you thinking that too? No? Okay, weird but okay. I will gladly stab Travis. And I will twist and twist and twist and twist. @ 43% I think my jaw just completely UNHINGED. Chapter 15 says it’s Christian’s chapter but it’s Piper’s and it took me seriously too long to figure that out. Where is my brain cell?? Daddy? Sorry. Daddy? Sorry. Daddy? Sorry. @ 63% that was dirty. The church ain’t gonna want me within a five mile radius on Sundays. This feels like a punch in the gut. Travis is the fucking worst. Ohh I see where we get our title from and I like it 😇 @ 75% I need to be baptized. Again. Idk. Maybe at this point an exorcist would just be better. Lea, it’s me. How about a Callan and Violet book? I want to hear him call her Lettie… while she claws his eyes out with the fury of a thousand winds! Thanks girlypop! I know you got me!! Daddy? Sorry. Daddy? Sorry. Daddy? Let’s be honest I’m not fckn sorry. The mans is hot. Dude, Travis needs to be beaten seven ways to Sunday even at the age of 15 💀 Travis really needs a good hammer to the temple. Please note that I do not condone violence… often. Violet, I got a thing for man buns too… have you seen my husband?? And I’m crying. At 97% I’m crying. I came this far and I am CRYING. GAAAAH IM DONE???!? I’m done?? I don’t want to be done!! Lea… where’s book two?? Where is book two??
Wow! This book consumed me in a way that you guys don't understand! I could stop reading!
Christian Crawford is the daddies of all daddies, he is just superior! He will make you swoon, steal your heart, and make you sweat! This man is everything and more!
Piper is just as amazing, she is strong, independent, sexy, and knows what she wants. I loved her!
Christian and Piper were dynamite together. Their chemistry was explosive, steamy, and perfect! They were made for each other. The road for their HEA wasn't easy, but it was real, relatable, and beautiful.
This book has me in a chokehold, I am obsessed with Christian & Piper! The plot, the characters, the side characters and the spice were so well written that it left me wanting more! I can not wait for the next book, this series is going to be phenomenal! ♥️
This was my first Lea Rose book and it definitely won’t be the last. Where We Burn is a ex-boyfriend’s dad, age gap, cowboy romance brought the heat at every turn and I loved every minute of it!
Christian and Piper bring electric chemistry, emotional connection, tons of yearning and stolen glances throughout the book. After a disastrous relationship with Christian’s son, Travis, Piper finds herself growing even closer to Christian. When they can finally act on their mutual attraction is when the heat in this story reaches a scorching level. And it’s not just about the spice! We get to see the emotional and vulnerable part of their multifaceted story. I really enjoyed visiting Rosewood Falls and I hope we’ll see more of their residents soon.
If you enjoy forbidden age gap romance, this one is a must read!
I would love to thank Lea Rose for the opportunity to read and review Where We Burn.
oh this absolutely hit the spot, it had literally everything i love in a romance?! cowboy, age gap, ex boyfriends dad ?! he falls first and oh boy he falls hard, it’s sinful how good this was. Sprinkled with tender moments of love and the building of found family, this series is going to be so so good i can feel it !!
Prepare to be consumed! Lea Rose has unleashed an absolute masterpiece of forbidden romance with "Where We Burn," and I am utterly captivated. This isn't just a book, it's an experience that will leave you breathless and craving more. Seriously, buckle up!
From the very first page, Lea Rose plunges us into the electrifying, utterly illicit world of Piper and Christian. He's her boyfriend's father, a rugged cowboy who radiates danger and desire. She's young, vibrant, and completely off-limits. The blurb barely scratches the surface of the simmering tension that explodes between them.
The magnetic pull between Piper and Christian is palpable, leaping off every page. Their chemistry is a force of nature – raw, undeniable, and so potent it practically singes the pages. You feel their longing, the forbidden pull, the desperate struggle against what they know is "wrong" but can't resist. Every glance, every touch, every internal monologue is laced with a delicious, agonizing tension that builds to an unbearable crescendo.
Rose masterfully navigates the treacherous waters of guilt, longing, and undeniable attraction. Both characters are layered, flawed, and utterly human in their struggle. You root for them even as every fiber of your being screams it's wrong. Christian's quiet intensity and Piper's fiery spirit create a dynamic that is both heartbreaking and breathtaking. He's the line she should never cross, and she's the temptation he never saw coming – and their journey is an emotional rollercoaster you won't want to get off.
Lea Rose's writing is simply exquisite. She crafts a narrative that is searingly passionate, deeply emotional, and utterly addictive. The pacing is perfect, keeping you on the edge of your seat, desperate to know how these two can possibly navigate a love that could destroy everything.
If you crave a forbidden romance that will push your boundaries, ignite your senses, and leave you utterly breathless, then "Where We Burn" is an absolute must-read. This isn't just a book; it's an inferno.
I received an ARC of “Where we Burn” for an honest review.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Tropes: Ex’s Dad Small town He falls first Touch her & 💀 Cowboy Past trauma Found family Daddy
Christian & Piper are the ultimate dream! The way they fight for each other and would literally burn the world for their love! Daddy Cowboy Christian?! …Sign me up!
The writing is top tier, you really feel for Christian who just puts himself last, always wears his heart & hope for a better relationship with his son, on his sleeve, only to be completely destroyed every single time.
Then there’s Piper who is such a sassy firecracker, with her sister by her side, she goes for what she wants. The sisters have had a hard childhood and their unbreakable bond really pulls on the heartstrings!
There had to be a bad seed… enter Travis. Nurture really won out on this one, not for a lack of trying from Christian to learn the key of the land and their family legacy. Growing up brainwashed and resentful, really turned his heart black.
Christian & Piper’s chemistry is off the charts! Primal, feral, rip your clothes off because I can’t wait to taste you, wet dream fantasies!
“The whole house could go up in flames around us, and I’d still be here, because this is where we burn, and I’d go up in flames a thousand times if it meant going down with her in my arms.”
I love everything about this book! I CANNOT wait for Colt & Callan to get their own stories! Especially after feeling their hot as sin chemistry with their leading ladies!
4.5 stars! (Rounded to 5) This is Christian and Piper’s story. An explosive, insta-lust, he falls first, age gap, cowboy romance. Can it get any better than that? Oh yeah, he’s her ex-boyfriend’s dad! This story gripped me from the very first page. The FMC Piper is a strong, independent, takes-no-crap woman who will fight to the ends of the earth for those she loves. The MMC Christian is a tough, loyal, loving man who will always have the back of the people he loves and never gives up without a fight. These two coming together was fiery, fierce, and downright HOT. The spice was detailed, deliciously explicit, but also demonstrated the pure love the characters shared. I loved the characters back stories, I loved the side characters, I loved that there wasn’t an “instant fix” for the main conflict. It really shone a light on how there is always two sides to every story, and just because you believe something with your whole chest doesn’t make it true - some conflicts will just never have an amicable ending, or closure of any sort, and that’s okay. Christian and Piper knew their hearts, knew their intentions and stood on that no matter how much shit was thrown their way. I truly admired that. I will absolutely be buying a shelf trophy of this book and re-reading it multiple times! Highly recommend for everyone that loves a forbidden cowboy romance! Add this to the list and read it asap!
New to me author, but I am now an undying fan from the first book.
I don’t even know where to start with this review, there’s so much to say. But most important: this book was so dang good!!!
Great characters, plenty of plot, that pining, the longing, the swoon!!! And did I mention the scorching smut?
I loved all the characters so much: Callan, Violet, Colt, Savannah. The main characters ,Piper and Cristian, are so perfect for each other, age gap and all!
Even Travis was the perfect douche ex, that couldn’t be redeemed, even by having the loving and amazing Cristian as a father.
I really admired Piper for her strength, her personality and for being unapologetically herself. And she also had the strength to stand up for herself and her man.
And Cristian must be the king of Swoon Land! What a man! Straightforward, loyal, honest, responsible, generous, and a good father to the rottenest of eggs. And so dang sexy, add in his filthy romantic mouth, and we get an irresistible package.
I enjoyed this book so much and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next one. Oh! And did I mention the absolutely incendiary spice?
I have received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
2.5⭐️ Giving this 2 stars is cruel, but giving it 3 seems a privilege—I'll settle for the point five. Saw this in a facebook group being recommended for its angst—I'd say it's a hit but not enough to write home about; the spice redeemed this one for me though.
There's something in this book that rubbed me the wrong way. It felt like the MMC and FMC started talking shit about a secondary character without the author giving basis to it in the early pages. Like at least give me a foundation for all that animosity so I can get on board with the hate train rather than it's okay one minute then there's abuse out of nowhere.
In a way, it seemed like all of that just to give way for the main characters' forbidden reationship to be quickly viewed as acceptable.
The introduction of each characters were all over the place and it's like I'm reading the later part of the series instead of the first one.
Tropes: - Age Gap (M41, F23) - Ex Boyfriend's Dad - Love/Lust at First Sight - Forbidden - Small Town - More of a Farmer than a Cowboy - Child Abuse (Prologue) - DV (Once, On Page) - Animosity - Found Family
Do I now want to devour every single thing Lea Rose has ever written? ABSOLUTELY YASSS 🙌🖤
Is this book giving Elsie Silver vibes with a dash of Penelope Douglas delicious drama? YASSS 🙌🖤
Do I now low-key wish my boyfriend had a hot cowboy daddy situation going on? YASSSS… but shhh, don’t tell him 🤣
This book had me blushing, swooning, AND crying all in one sitting. The tension? Off the charts. The spice? Spicy enough to make me fan myself. The heartbreak? Gut-punching in the best way. And yet, it all wrapped up in a way that left me grinning like an idiot.
✨ Piper & Christian = absolute goals. ✨ Boyfriends Hot cowboy dad with a messy, juicy storyline? SAY LESS. The drama was chef’s kiss and the spice had something fluttering (and not just my heart 👀🤣).
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars of hot, juicy cowboy daddy energy and I regret NOTHING. 🤠🔥
I had high hopes and it exceeded my expectations! I am an avid cowboy romance reader but this one really stands out from the rest. It's messy and raw and unapologetic and I loved it !! 😍
Piper, a pure ball of confident, Queen energy. She rocks her body, her attitude and owns everything she does.
Christian is a rock solid cowboy of a man. He's rugged and protective and loves hard!
He's her boyfriend's Dad ... but there's so much depth and raw emotion to this story. The characters are built on a foundation of heartbreak and survival. Until they come together to heal. The spice was WOW! Like, can't read in public kind of spice.
If you love a cowboy romance with pure, hard, raw feelings with little self control then this one is for you!
Thank you Lea Rose for this amazing story ! Please tell me Callan & Violet's story is next 🙏😝🥰
Lea, Lea, Lea!!!! What can I say....you have now added another Hot Dad fantasy to my list!!
Hot Daddy Cowboy...yes please 😮💨 I don't know how you do it, but everything you write is pure gold!! You make us fall in love with every MMC and make us wish we were the FMC.
Christian is a delicious Mountain Man all wrapped up in perfection!! He's the perfect gentleman outside the bedroom, and pure sex God inside!
Piper is the spunkiest, sassy, firecracker that every girl wishes to be and every guy wishes he had!
I need more of these two, and can't wait to see how the other Crawford Men books come along.
This book captured my attention from the very beginning! I always love an age gap romance, throw in ex-boyfriend’s dad and I’m a goner! This strong, badass, independent FMC doesn’t accept shit from anyone - for better or worse. The forbidden romance with a whole other level of complexity makes it that much more tortured! The spice was phenomenal!!!! Explicit. Detailed. And in abundance!
This book was my addiction - I stayed up to the point of exhaustion, read in the morning while doing my makeup, and every spare moment I had throughout the day!
I have a pretty good idea of who the rest of this series will focus on, and I cannot wait!!
Gah, I love Lea Rose and cowboys… you put them together and BAM!💥 As always, the writing, plot, and characters are all just 🤌🏼chef’s kiss. One thing about Lea, is she writes and creates characters that you bond with. They remind you of people you have come across in real life… some good, some bad. The chemistry between Piper and Christian is amazing, and I absolutely love a filthy talking cowboy! As for Travis…yes, you will meet him… well… he’s just…uhhhg!! I’ll be nice… but I’m so excited about this series and can’t wait to read about the side characters and their stories!!! Thank you again, Lea, for creating another masterpiece!❤️
My god I ate this book up! I need it in paperback asap! This is a cowboy/boyfriend’s dad romance and my god Christian the man you are . If you’ve read the book chasing the wild by Elliott rose this is a book for you. These cowboy daddies can freaking get it!!!! I loved Piper and Christian’s story and how much chemistry they have it helps you to fall more in love with them through the story. I also loved all the Side characters and can’t wait to see as the series progresses whose stories will be shown.
Once again, Lea did not disappoint. I fell in love with both Piper and Christian and all the hard things they had to go through to get to one another. Lea has a way with words and made me feel all of the feelings in this story. I was introduced to Rosewood Falls and the Crawford brothers and instantly fell in love. While both Piper and Christian’s journey in this world weren’t easy, they rose above for one another. This book was spicy and beautiful and I adored it. I cannot wait for the next book in the series!!
OMG i read this in 2 days- stealing moments at every chance I could get to devour Me Christian Crawford & falling in love with love all over again.
Sign me up for a Dirty Talking Cowboy who knows what he wants, any day of the week. Mr Protect his woman and not take any rubbish from anyone!
The only problem with the book is that they break my heart when they are done…. Endlessly trying to get more out of the books and my new book boyfriends … Praying we get a whole lot more out of Rosewood falls.
you DO NOT want to miss out on the Crawford men… 🤤 🤠
Piper’s character about a quarter-way into Where We Burn made this story a five-star read. I knew I was going to love her. Describing her as fiery doesn’t do her justice, and Christian was everything. Piper’s childhood made her who she is—strong. The mutual pining was steamy in itself. The boyfriend, Travis, is trash without any redeeming qualities, so I loved the slow burn between Christian and Piper. The spice scenes were really good. There were some br33ding-ish moments. That is, Christian mentions to br33d her, and he would love to see her belly swell with his baby. Overall, I really like this book!
This was my first cowboy romance book. I’m not into cowboys, and it was still an interesting read. It kept me focused all the time. It seemed really real, and I could picture all the scenes in my head. Even if some places weren’t described, I was still able to create a visual. I would definitely give it a five if there were a little more twists to enrich the story. Overall, it’s 4.25 ⭐️ for me, and I would love to read more from the author.
Piper’s rough upbringing built her into the strong, independent woman she is today—she doesn’t need anyone to save her. Enter Christian: her ex’s dad and the perfect small-town cowboy with just the right amount of grit. They both know they shouldn’t want each other, but that only makes the tension burn hotter. Rough edges, forbidden love, and chemistry you can feel—this romance is everything.
The first half of the book was better than the second half. All the tension that was built up just kind of fizzled out for me. I never felt like I knew the characters as well as I would have liked… I had the worst time trying to picture the MMC because he felt like he was described as 40 year old giant cowboy and that was about it. The first half was good so I’ll keep it at a solid 3 stars.
If you liked Birthday Girl…read this If you liked Chasing the Wild…read this If you liked Credence…read this If you like cowboys with dirty mouths…read this If you like found families and small town romance…read this
It’s the perfect age gap x bf’s dad x cowboy romance and I loved every second of it.
The storyline, the characters, the development, the angst, the spice, there’s not one thing not like about this book.
The fact i have to wait for the next book makes me SAD because Lea Rose has me hooked.
Words cannot describe how good this book was. I ate it up and devoured it in one sitting it was phenomenal.
Christian Crawford is THE DADDY and I cannot be convinced otherwise. He is THE PERFECT MAN and gentleman, but inside the bedroom? definitely not. Piper is this little firecracker that barges in and blows up his entire world the moment they meet and their chemistry was completely undeniable.
Lea's writing is top tier. Not only was the pace of the story perfect, but it was packed with heat, tension, passion, and real, raw emotions. This book was like a drug that I wanted to deeply inject into my veins because I could not get enough. And the spice? OMG I was MELTING it was so hot.
I cannot wait to see the rest of the Crawford men in the remainder of the series.
This book was amazing and it had all the feels. Age Gap coqbiy romance novel. Piper is with Travis but it is his father that she really wants. As you can imagine it gets messy. The whole situation is handled with care and it really ends up being a great romance read.
"I want her in my arms, in my bed, in every part of my life. I want to mark her, claim her, and let every damn person in this town know she’s mine, whether we’re ready to say it out loud or not."
The moment this hit my email, I was already eating it up, and I couldn't put it down for the life of me. I was up till 1am, because this book had me on a chokehold. I've literally reread this twice in a span of 24 hours, because trust me when I say, I was hooked, obsessed, literally swept off my feet with how amazing this book was. It's literally the definition of, i didn't know how much i needed it in my life until I read it.
Christian and Piper had chemistry for days. And let's not forget the tension, because it was literally so thick. And when it exploded and the sparks ignited and started flying, it was unstoppable. I was literally sat with my mouth wide open. Because i honestly devoured every single part of this book.
Christian Crawford the man you are. He's the definition of a woman's walking wet dream. Every time I delved deeper, i was asking myself continuously, where can i find myself my own Christian? Because this man was everything. I remember saying to Lea that he might take Edison's place and she doubted me. Here i am, claiming my stake on Christian, because Edison who? Pass me a hot cowboy, did i mention he's also daddy with the filthiest mouth, he gives off BDE, and once he has you, he never wants to let go. And to make it better, he wanted her to read for him. Am i in heaven yet? Because I wouldn't mind going up with Christian. Every single thing that came out of his mouth had me melting in a puddle, whether it was something swoony or sexy, I was already at his mercy, ready to drop to my knees for him. Also where there's breeding, you'll never miss out on finding me there. And you know who's into that? CHRISTIAN. Just when I thought I wouldn't fall more in love with him. This man is literally a whole package, i'll never shut up about Christian Crawford.
Let's not forget Piper, if i can't have Christian, i'd rather be smothered with Piper, and trust me i won't complain. The moment she did what she did to Travis, i fell head over heels for her too. I'm convinced the men before Christian were blind, i mean i'd call them douchebags because how could they let her go? But thank goodness she did because she ended up with a man who treats her like the queen she is. I loved how selfless and kind she was, she saw Christian for who he was. Honestly she deserved to be loved and treasured, so it was fulfilling to see her get that with Christian. And with the body positivity, what an absolute queen.
Travis is a dickwart and you can't convince me otherwise. Even his name had me wanting to knock my head on the wall. I loathe this man with every single fibre in me. If I was to meet him, I definitely will need a restraining order because i'm smashing his head in and i'm not leaving without a testicle.
Lea literally outdid herself. I fall deeper for her MMCs every single time. I'm already thirsting for the other Crawford brothers because I know I'll go crazy over them too, because with the way they love their women, who wouldn't?
Thank you so much Lea for gracing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
This book would get ten blooming stars from me if possible.
I honestly thought it would be like plenty of others currently on the market, more smut than plot, and I was totally down to reading that, too! But then Christian Crawford rolled up in his black cowboy hat, and shattered every single expectation.
Yes, he and Piper have an age gap. Yes, some will clutch their pearls over it. Yes, she dates his son before they get their shit together. Guess what? It all works out and makes sense because the writing is just that good, the characters are consenting adults who yearn for each other as adults, and Travis can go eat dirt somewhere with his misplaced rotten anger.
Now don't get me wrong - there's sex. And lots of it - Christian Crawford is a godsdamned gift from heaven and hell combined, and he knows how to show a girl a good time.
That's not what makes this book great.
What marks it as special is the way he and Piper choose each other. Despite the obstacles, the whispers, the fallout they know will come. They have their hiccups, but they choose one another every. single. fucking. time.
That's where the magic is.
It's not in the (admittedly fan-fucking-tastic) sex scenes. It's not in the lust and the goo goo eyes.
It's in the way Christian treats Piper; the way he would burn the world twice over for her, protect her from hell, worship at her altar, make sure she never has to doubt a single thing. It's in the way Piper gives her ex the finger and walks back to Christian with everything on the line; the way she takes care of him.
In today's world where so many people feel even the bare minimum has been lost and potential partners just ... don't have what we might want, Piper, and especially Christian, define what it is readers of these books really want.
Not the sex (though that's a perk), not even the possessiveness the world keeps trying to convince us is wrong (when it's only between consenting adults and not in a degrading fashion). It's the unconditional love and respect and committment, the honour and family and loyalty, we read on these pages.
Christian makes us swoon not because he's six foot plus cowboy alpha (not that you'll hear anyone complaining ...) but because he NEEDS Piper and would lay down his life for her. She's his girl. Period. And that kind of belonging and force of nature at your back is what so many are missing nowadays in this confusing world of ours.
My hat off to you, Lea Rose. And I sincerely hope we get to read Callan and Colton's stories in future 💙
