They were never supposed to touch. Let alone fall for each other...

Liam has his future mapped out—top of his class, full scholarship, zero distractions. The last thing he needs is a week alone in a secluded lake cabin with his arrogant, insufferable stepbrother.

Tyler lives to push Liam’s buttons. Star athlete. Party king. Lady's man. And Liam’s personal bully since their parents said I do.

But isolation has a way of stripping everything down. And when a heated argument turns into a brutal, soul-shattering encounter, everything changes.

JP!!!! YOU DID IT AGAIN AND I’M LOSING IT!!!!

This book in one wordgif:

The push and pull between the MCs had me losing my mind😭 I was supposed to be up early the next morning (and was already late to bed) but you best believe I stayed up until I was done with this. Definitely one of JP’s top books.

Be warned: what little “plot” there is in this is basically just an excuse for the MCs to get together. If that’s your thing — and you don’t mind a touch of taboo — you’ll DEVOUR this.

Expect
- Enemies to lovers
- Forced proximity
- Forbidden romance
- Taboo (stepbrothers)

I went into this story telling myself I would enjoy it, after all it is a Jenny Pineapple short story and she is incredibly good at them. What I failed to anticipate was just how much I would enjoy it - to the extent of having to read it in one sitting and then wanting to read it all over again.

We have never met Liam and Tyler before this book but by the end of it we feel as though we have known them as long as they have known one another. We feel the years of antagonism wash away under the realisations that they find during a week of stepbrother bonding in a remote cabin.

The story begins with a less than positive stating point, from Liam and Tyler's perspective at least, if you love enemies-to-lovers and the stepbrother tropes then the start of the story will simply fuel your desire to know more. What begins as a week both are expecting to hate, to be filled with a deep-rooted antagonism slowly morphs into something more, something deeper, something that perhaps only a cat stuck in a tree during a storm could ever truly force to emerge...

Short, powerful, sweet, sexy. This is a wonderful short story, novella, perfectly pitched for any readers who love not only the tropes but their MM romances with a touch of hate, heat, passion, forgiveness, written by an author who doesn't waste words but knows just how to use them.

'All those years apart, and those months in therapy. All my academic achievements. My impeccable reputation. Friends that love me. The attention from the women. All of that is shredded to smithereens in just five minutes back in Tyler Murphy’s proximity.
I press the heels of my hands against my eyes until I see stars.
One week. Seven days trapped in this cabin with Tyler. My stepbrother. My bully. My enemy.'

I really enjoyed this book. I liked Liam automatically because I do not like or accept bullying. Tyler was a jerk but I was curious to get into his head. The tension and chemistry between them sizzled and I liked their dynamic. Stepbrothers who did not get along until their parents are fed up and force them to spend time together to bridge the gap and get rid of the animosity before the renew their vows after six years of marriage. (I don't think this is what they- or anyone had in mind lol). Though if Liam went to therapy because of Tyler, (and his parents knew), forcing them in close proximity for a week is just cruel. I was curious how that hate would turn to love- especially with the bi-awakening.

'This time, I think I’ve broken something that might be impossible to fix.'

4 stars.

This short story has all the tension, angst, build-up and finally release that would come with a longer story, but it's written so well that it doesn't need hundreds of pages to get the story across. You can feel the animosity between Liam and Tyler from their first moment seeing each other at the cabin again. However, as it's been said many times, there's a very thin line between hate and love. Their constant circling one another with razor sharp barbs comes off more as foreplay than true hatred. Their slow burn through the week and near misses of compromising positions, eventually leads to giving into their emotions and desires and it's both thrilling and satisfying. I found myself rooting for this couple and am sad that their story ended so soon. I'd love to see a follow up story after they leave the cabin and have to announce to the world their relationship and what that does to their parents vow renewal ceremony.

OMG these two, the anger and hurt between them at the start, all the years of jealousy, frustration and misunderstanding.
Stepbrothers who never moved past the hurt and anger of their families combining until one mum has has enough and books them a cabin by the lake, just the two of them and tells them to sort it out before the vow renewal.
What follows is a fantastic journey, some angst, winding each other up until it's all comes to a very steamy combustion.
I absolutely would have loved a couple of epilogues, one where they tell their parents and maybe a wedding of their own!.

A good read
Well you could feel the tension as soon as you started this book but you knew straight away when these two came together it was a sexual tension. They had been sent to the cabin by their parents as they just never got along. They were called step Brothers, but they never felt like it. There was bullying involved but again it’s that old stories isn’t it? He’s mean to you because he likes you. I’ve got to say that these two have great passion for one another and it was a good read really enjoyed it.

Fun, short, spicy MM novella. Step-brothers, after college, their parents have been married for 6 years and are renewing their vows, but because their sons don't get a long the parents make them spend a week together in a remote cabin. LOL. Love this premise! This book was such a joy to read, HEA. Now I'm wondering who Jenny Pineapple really is - the writing and editing were both fantastic, so she's probably someone with a large budget and a ton of talent. She's on my list now!

Short and spicy fun

I have recently discovered this author's books and have had a great time going through and reading them all. They're always short enough to read in one sitting with an interesting plot and great spice. They're great as palate cleansers between longer books, too. I love these!

Man I would’ve ate this book up if it was longer. The tension between them is unreal. Many moments reminded me of another book that I love.
Tyler & Liam are an adorable couple. I want to know how the ‘telling the parents’ goes…

Forced proximity

Liam and Tyler are stepbrothers. Their parents are forcing them to spend a week at a cabin alone to work out their issues. They are both jealous of each other. But finally give into the mutual attraction they’ve been denying for years.

falling down the rabbit hole of Jenny Pineapple books, Another step brothers forced proximity book. Both oblivious to the others feelings forced to spend a week together to stop fighting before their parents vowl renewal they definitely work out that tension.

Was expecting more from the spice but the plot itself for a short book was not bad. I would have liked to see the reveal to their respective parents at the end or a wedding epilogue but other than that it was ok.

This was so cute! The only drawback was that it was waaay too short. I needed more from this couple.
