“Gorgeous...I get that you’ve been let down. But that’s not me. It’s not who I am or what I do. Give me a chance to show you what it means to be cared about by a real man.”

Love a man's man, and Duke Bradshaw is just that. He's may not look like a total bad boy man, but he's the perfect one for Carmella Rossi. He's just got one hell of a job to prove it to her.

Falling Under had the premise of everything I could love, but it just fell short for me. For me, my issue was Carmella's inability to deal with her issues, dragging it on and making it be the main conflict in the story. Duke had the toughest job and nothing he did could break through, and I totally felt bad for him. Oh well, this was my own personal issue with the character's character.

A satisfyingly swoony, sultry slow burn.
“You’re not my anything. You’re my everything.”

Twisted Steel, the custom build automotive shop Duke Bradshaw co-owns, needs a new office manager and Duke knows his neighbor is the perfect candidate. The problem is, this redhead has also featured in his fantasies for long time now. Can he keep his attraction in check in order to avoid possible work related problems in the future or will he risk it and cross the boss-employee line?
“She seemed to float into my life, and once she touched down, the roots grew very deep very fast. I wasn’t expecting love. Knocked me on my @ss.”

When her sexy biker and neighbor walks up to her house, the last thing Carmella Rossi expected was a job offer she couldn’t refuse. She should lock up the craving she’s had for the man for years now that she’s working for him but it’s an impossible task. She also knows love is a fantasy so she shouldn’t be risking her heart. Can his caring and understanding break down her walls? ►♫
“ He made her lose her head. Did something to the filters she’d kept in place so long to protect herself. Devastated every single defense until all that was left was the heart of her, exposed to him.”

I met Duke Bradshaw in Opening Up, book one in the Ink & Chrome series, and loved the “charming flirt” on the spot. He’s usually mellow but he also likes to play with fast cars and play hard in bareknuckle fights which might project a bad boy person.
“I’ll see you tonight. Since you’ll be looking at hoe men, I expect you’ll find me.”

Mostly, he’s a cool dude who gladly listens to people and readily gives advice if needed. He’s loyal and caring with the people he calls family. He’s attentive and perceptive, with the “heart of a protector” which only added to his sexiness. He’s simply a good man. But to the jaded Carmella, this is akin to a unicorn playing in the back yard with her dog Ginger.
“I’m worth it.” He bent to kiss her, resting his forehead against hers afterward. “Let me in a little.”

Carmella is a wonderful character I wanted to befriend just like PJ did. She’s a hard worker, a trustworthy person who loves her mother fiercely to the point of absurdity. She’s fierce yet vulnerable, smart and easygoing. Life has dealt her a fair share of bad hands, especially in the men department, starting with her ex-con father and thief ex-husband. So I understood her hesitance towards trusting Duke.
“He needed to seduce the trust out of his skittish redhead. Slowly and surely… there was something in her life – past or present – that had left some deep scars.”

Amazingly hot, brilliant sparks flew between Duke and Carmella right from the start though. But their romance was a slow burn I think mostly due to Carmella’s trust issues Duke has to practically pry from her and Duke’s general laid-back attitude. But once the deeper connection is made, I loved how Duke is persistent but not pushy, how he doesn’t let her hide from him and slowly does away with the walls that surround her.

There was enough outside drama to go around, so I really liked how they worked at having a solid, mature, open and honest, lasting relationship without unnecessary drama of their own. These two are a great couple that suit each perfectly. I love how Duke sees her and she understands him like no other.
“She was so beautiful. All her flaws and broken parts caught the light and made her a diamond.”
__________________________
“What else in life could measure up to someone who accepted the darkest parts of you and wanted more?”

I really enjoy Lauren Dane’s story telling. She writes a captivating story with attractive characters that make me turn page after page with its swoon worthy allure.
“Should I be afraid of what you’ll do when we’re alone next? … That look of yours usually spells really delicious trouble for me.”
“… I thought it was pretty obvious that I always have delicious trouble waiting for you.”

Falling Under is book #2 in the Ink and Chrome series by Lauren Dane. It is a standalone, full-length, romance filled with scorching hot scenes, family drama and lots of fun and swoon worthy moments. Told from both points of view, with a happy ending.

Falling Under is the second book in the Ink & Chrome series about Duke Bradshaw and his sexy neighbor Carmella Rossi. He has been secretly lusting after Carm for awhile and when his office manager quits he find the perfect opportunity to get close to her. Working together puts them in close proximity and now he just can't keep his hands off.

I loved Duke and all of his charming hotness . He was so loyal to his friends, and caring for those around him, he was truly a great character. He was confident in his relationships and when Carmella tried to push him away and hide from him he wouldn't let her. I loved that about him, he wasn't going to let the woman he loved go, no matter how hard she tried to get away.

Carmella had a lot on her plate, a dependent mother, a con ex-husband and her dad straight out of prison and back to mess up her mother's life again. She was struggling with the weight of it all and it made her a really strong character to be able to handle all of that and still keep her sanity. I wanted her to stop letting her mom push her around, though, so I loved when Duke stepped in and tried to help.

Overall, this is a sexy amazing read about two characters who are perfect for one another. The smexy times were off the chart smoking and I wanted more! This book is perfect for anyone that likes a hot tatted up Alpha, and a strong female character.

Carmella would prefer to not notice the good thing right in front her. Namely, Duke Bradshaw. Her neighbor is friendly, brings treats to her dog, and is damn fine to look at. His motorcycle only ups the sexy for Carmella.

But she’s not looking for love. She’s been burned badly on the romance front and had been fairly comfortable conjuring fantasies of Duke. He, however, wants a lot more. Fine. Carmella can even get down with that. Like all the best of Lauren Dane’s heroines, Carmella is a woman who owns her sexuality. She might—and often does—stumble when it comes to romance and relationships, but she knows what gets her off and refuses to be ashamed for wanting such.

This is what makes Lauren Dane's Falling Under engaging. The highly character-driven novel explores Carmella’s need to reconcile her friendship with Duke and the mind-blowing sex they have in a way that feels safe. That just isn’t her way. She’s comfortable being in charge of Twisted Steel’s office. She’s at ease with her friends and her cousin. She knows how to get hers in bed. She does not know how to let herself be a girlfriend to Duke.

Family baggage and self-imposed guilt make it hard for Carmella to open to Duke. Her mother has an awful track record with men, and continues to manipulate her daughter. Carmella does not want to be her, and as the most basic levels she see s the types of men her mother likes in Duke. He’s one of the good ones, though, and Carmella’s journey to understanding that she isn’t her mother and can be happy with the reformed bad boy is the thread that pulls Falling Under together.

The way Carmella makes Duke work for itis why readers are going to fall for him so hard. This man doesn’t give up. He wants love early on, and has to be patient with Carmella. He waits, and shows his affection in little ways like taking care of her dog and repairing windows. He invites her out with friends. He creates sweet dates on the patio. He cooks.

There is a boss/employee element to this one, but the trope is minimal. It’s another roadblock mentally for Carmella, but her job security isn’t a threat and everyone at the office is essentially ‘shipping the two. It’s sweet.

Those who love the ensemble camaraderie of Lauren Dane’s other series will find that same sense of family with a moderate dose of the sexy throughout. A light, delightful read with characters you want to share a beer with.

description

4.5 owned and wicked stars. Duke Bradshaw is introduced in Opening Up which is the first book in this series. Duke co-owns Twisted Steel with Asa and is the laid back and charming type. In short, Duke's the lady's man of his close friends. I swear the man can charm the pants off a nun.

As we can all see, I love Duke. I loved him from the first time he was introduced in Opening Up. I love him for all that he is and all that he is not. He is charming, sexy, confident, loyal, clever, sexual, caring, and tender. What I love most about Duke is his understand of things and how he realizes he has to handle Carmella in order to have what they both deserve, the ultimate happy ending together. He doesn't give up when Carmella tries to run from him, hide from him, and argues with him. He is a genuinely good man and I think that's probably what brings me to my knees.

Carmella is a challenging heroine in that she is constantly at war with herself and others. She has a backstory that explains why she is the way she is. She doesn't want to mix business and pleasure, doesn't want handouts, and doesn't want to put her heart on the line. Duke doesn't really give her much choice when he corners her to work as his and Asa's office manager, tempts her into his bed, and tempts her into a relationship with him. How is she expected to fight off a persistent and charming man who happens to be decadent looking? The correct answer is she can't.

I like when characters are compliments of one another and this is what Carmella and Duke are. They easily fall in line with the other's life. The two better each other while growing together. There were a few things I wasn't so fond of which is why the book lost half a star but overall the read was as expected from Lauren Dane, pretty damn addicting and passionate.

This is just a fun, sweet and easy read with some good smut mixed in. The sex is hot, the drama is low, and the characters don't hold a grudge.

This is the 2nd installment and I really enjoyed having low angst read while working on editing. Audio is decent on this one too!

That's its. It's all I got in the review department. My book slump has made its way to my reviews and I just don't have any witty comments.

Falling Under is the 2nd novel in the Inch & Chrome series by Lauren Dane. It is a full length novel with no cliff hanger, told from opposing third person point-of-views. Lauren Dane novels are not not new to me, and in fact, she's one of my favorite authors. I went into Falling Under without having read the first book in the series, so this one can definitely be read as a standalone.

What did I like about this book? Well, I liked the main characters, I liked the dynamic between them. Duke is hot, even on paper, you just sort of want to drool over the man. Carmella (I love this name by the way.), is sure of herself, and confident. It's a nice thing to see in a heroine these days because you never once doubt her stance on things. You also don't see it changing or converting like in some novels. She never becomes a push over and when dealing with an alpha male like Duke, that was surprising.

I'm going to jump to that actual dynamic I was talking about between these two. This book is scorching in that regard. I am talking, fan you face hot. You never once doubt that these two are hot for each other at any point while reading. Carmella describes Duke in so many different ways through the book and what makes him attractive to her that I had to chuckle. I snagged pieces but from all over but it's basically like this according to Carmella. Duke is tall, handsome, rugged, he works hard and is confident.. oh and he has an amazing ass. Likewise, according to Duke, "Just thinking about Carmella Rossi made him smile.". She's curvy, confidently sexy, and statuesque... all while being short.

That brings us to what I didn't like about this book. It's generally hard for me to find something I don't like about a Lauren Dane novel but I struggled getting through this one. It was this complete rush at the beginning, and then it just seemed to level off for about 70% of the book and drag along. They'd argue, fix it, argue, fix it, but I was left feeling like the climax of the novel happened at about 25%. I can't say I was bored with it, but at that point, I felt like I knew exactly what was going to happen in the story, so it was hard to keep reading. (I was correct, by the way.) It was a fest of pick up, put down until I finally finished it.

Aside from the fact that I was struggling, I can still recognize that aside from the pacing of the book, for me it was still a well done book. I loved the main characters, I enjoyed the co-stars as well. You're also lead into the fact during reading that three will be a third book in the series, and I'm curious about that one. All in all, I would definitely recommend Falling Under. Bearded, tattooed men who run a custom car shop? Yes, please!

I read Book 1 in this series (Opening Up) and I freaking loved it. When I saw that this book, Book 2, was coming out, I knew I had to try it. I don't know where Lauren Dane has been all my life but I am SO glad I've finally found her!

I've got to be honest - I loved Carmella from the start. She talks to her dog like a person and she does it all the time. It felt so normal and human and funny that I knew she'd be awesome. And she was. Carmella's mom is awful and Carmella had a tough childhood. Still, Carmella loves her mom and tries really hard to do right by her, even though her mom is a pill-popping jerk who doesn't appreciate all the stuff Carmella does for her. I understood Carmella's need to take care of her mom and it was really kind and caring for her to do that. But it also pissed me off because Carmella's mom didn't appreciate anything and continued to shit on Carmella. I guess her relationship with her mom really highlighted Carmella's capacity for compassion. She wasn't perfect but it was so easy to like her.

Duke was pretty bad ass. He's co-owner of Twisted Steel, a car and bike shop that does everything from fixing carburetors to restoring old classic cars bumper-to-bumper. I loved Duke but it was almost too easy to like him because everything was so easy for him. He loved and cared deeply for the people he considered family. He was loyal to a fault. He was handsome, strong, built...pretty much perfect. Too perfect. He knew when he screwed up and did all the right things to make it better. He was in touch with his emotions and helped others as much as he could. What the hell was there to NOT like about him!?! My goodness, I fricking loved this guy!

The Sexy Time was hot and very plentiful. This was definitely an erotic romance. It was great that Carmella and Duke were two very sexed up people but it never felt over the top or porn-y. It was nice that they took their time in getting to know each other better. They had an awesome adult relationship without a lot of petty drama and bullshit. I felt a little frustrated that Carmella had such a hard time opening up. But my goodness, I didn't blame her. Duke was so kind and wonderful and supportive; he was absolutely perfect for her. They were perfect for each other.

I loved this book! Duke pushed Carmella to open up but he was never pushy or belligerent. Carmella was honest about her needs and she called Duke out on any bullshit. It was refreshing to see a mature adult relationship that wasn't even a little bit boring. Between the Sexy Time and the teasing and joking that went on between them, there were no dull moments with them. There wasn't any real excitement or mystery. This is just a book about a relationship between two people. I would recommend this book to readers who like a bit more Sexy Time but don't care if there's a lot of action.

There is one word to sum up this book for me... BORING! It was a snooze fest from beginning to end. Duke and Carm were under developed as characters and boring.. The sex while plentiful was boring, it's almost like it was an afterthought... the almost non-existent plot line when it decided to make an appearance about 70% of the way through the book was boring and incomplete everything is pretty much left unresolved. The only reason I kept reading the book (I almost DNFed a few times) was I wanted more info on Mick, which there wasn't much. A couple of lines here and there. I think when it came to Duke and Carmilla's relationship the dog was the most interesting part. A friend stated to me and I think it sums it up pretty nicely.. The first chapter of Micks book is better then the entire Falling Under book. What happened between the first book and this one??? The first book was engaging, it had great characters, the plot was interesting and it really pulled you in from the beginning.. This one was just plain flat. Nothing happens. Reviewer that gave this book 4 and 5 star reviews I'm left wondering if they read the same book as I did. Now it's no secret I am not a huge Lauren Dane fan for just this reason.. She can be so hit and miss. This one is a total miss for me. That is all I really have to say about this book because there isn't much to tell. I want the time back I spent reading this book.

Falling under Ms. Dane's spell is so easy. In this erotic romance, Duke Bradshaw pulls a naughty boss to employee romance with Carmella Rossi. This romance is so smooth and sweet, it is hard to pull away after it concludes. Ms. Dane weaves a moving tale of two people with a lot of baggage trying to understand each other.

The character development in this book is superb. I really admire and like Carmella. She is a female who is loyal, loving and steadfast. She refuses to give up on someone once she commits to them. The way Carmella takes care of her mother is nothing short of remarkable. The responsibilities and heartbreak Carmella shoulders for her family makes me want to weep for her lost childhood. And yet, one can't hate Carmella's mother. Ms. Dane shows compassion in a way that is unbelievable. Somehow she shows how every character has their side of the story. And it's neither good nor evil; right nor wrong. The message of acceptance and support even beyond what is reasonable really hits home for me. I shed several tears for Carmella and how she's intentional and unintentionally hurt. When I connect to a character so tightly, I know I'm going to really like the book.

Duke is a character who is knocked onto his smug ass. He makes assumptions which are infuriating. His past explains it and fortunately, he mans up and admits his mistakes. As a character, he seems to have an easy life but as his past is revealed, it's all just a façade. The family ties and how they interact is agonizingly exposed in a raw form which makes a reader want to turn away from the emotional train wreck. The powerful emotions elicited makes for an engaging read. The reader is so vested in a happily ever after outcome they can almost taste it. The ending is for the most part, happily ever after. Ms. Dane's strength in writing contemporary romance is that she doesn't go for unrealistic endings. Nothing is perfect in life and she shows it all in its gritty naked glory yet cushions it with tender mercy. Ms. Dane is an auto read author because her stories are memorable and touch the soul. Highly recommended for romance lovers who believe in happily ever afters.

Dane writes another compelling story that adds to a truly addictive series!

Duke is co owner of Twisted Steel and has secretly been crushing on his sexy redheaded neighbor Carmella since she has moved next door. Twisted steels office manager is moving and has given her weeks notice. Duke decides to approach Carmella and offer her a job which she accepts since she had been out of work.

Carmella also has a crush on Duke but since she is now his employee she knows nothing can happen because it might turn weird. When these two finally give in to one another the chemistry is explosive and these two have it bad.

Dane always writes interesting and challenging characters but I have to say I think these two are my favorite. You can see Duke can be the bad boy type but when he is with Carmella he has a whole other side. Carmella is strong and has family and trust issues but once she starts opening up to Duke you can see they just click.

They both bond basically over family issues and try to help each other out. We all know relationships are perfect and these two show that with the little fights they have but when they make up and come back together it's super sweet and hot.

Dane again out does herself with a plot that kept me interested from the very beginning. The characters are interesting and let's face it the sex scenes are hot!

None of the characters are rushed into getting married. They are just focused on making it work and taking it one step at time. I hope in future books there will be some weddings and babies. Hopefully maybe we will also get a book about Carmella's cousin since he makes appearances in the first two books.

I was happy that we also got to know Mike a little bit more in this book and so excited his book is next! If you haven't started this series I suggest you get caught up in Twisted Steel because more is to come.

Duke Bradshaw has had his eye on his neighbor Carmella Rossi for at least a year. When a position opens up at his business Twisted Steel he offers Carmella the job as he knows she's been unemployed. Even though Camella has had a thing for Duke for a while too with the two working together and her track record for relationships she's determined to keep it professional but the sparks soon fly for the pair.

Falling Under is the second book in the Ink and Chrome series by Lauren Dane but could be read fine as a stand alone novel, each book in the series has featured a relationship with one of the men of Twisted Steel.

I didn't quite enjoy this as much as Opening Up. It was still plenty steamy and a nice relationship developing between Duke and Carmella but I think at times Carmella was just too closed off or jealous for my taste. She had an incredible past and a tough time trusting but Duke was such a laid back good guy that it got somewhat frustrating waiting for her to see it.

Still a good read though and will be looking forward to the next in the series.

Some of my favorite books to read are about grown ass folks having a grown ass romance, and I loved Falling Under for this among many other reasons. Duke Bradshaw is a chill, sexy, tall glass of water with a hint of grey at the temples, and co-owns Twisted Steel bike shop with his best friend Asa. He has had a big time crush on his next door neighbor, pinup sexy redhead Carmella, for about a year. When an opportunity comes to have her work at the shop, he snaps it up and indulges his curiosity to get to know her...and much more. Carmella is not great about letting people in; her home life has never been anything nice and she takes care of a manipulative but unstable mother. Letting Duke in can be a disaster since he is her boss, her neighbor, and they have a similar circle of friends, but her attraction to him is real and she decides to go for it.

I love Lauren Dane's heroes. They are hot, complicated without being creepy, and fall insanely in love with their heroines. Falling Under is such a great read! I mean, Duke has a tool kit and knows how to fix stuff...and does it!! Insant ovary explosion right there.

Twisted Steel’s Duke Bradshaw is not afraid to get dirty…especially in his dreams of Carmella Rossi but he has to convince her that while he may be a bad boy he’s not going to break her heart in this down and dirty contemporary romance. Duke is one bad boy that readers will love to get down and dirty with anytime night or day and Carmella compliments him so much that there is no denying they are perfect couple as their story draws readers into their world. All the Twisted Steel bad boys ignite fantasies and ensure that the readers come back for more in fact I would have a hard time picking just one so I have decided that I want to keep them all and I can’t wait to read Mick’s story.

This one kind of sneaks up on a person. Duke and Carmella are great together, things go pretty good from the start. Yes there were a couple of hiccups due to family stuff, but they took the time to talk it out, making their relationship stronger and giving strength to the other. I loved how the crew of Twisted Steel chimed in on things. It was nice to see Asa give Duke advice, too bad he didn't take it the first time. But better was PJ and Carmella becoming friends. While I did think the ending was a bit abrupt, I liked where Carmella and Duke were and hope that we get to see more of them in future books.

Falling Under is the 2nd book in the Ink & Chrome trilogy by Lauren Dane. This second book is the story of Carmella and Duke. When Carmella accepts a job at Twisted Steel, she swears to herself to ignore the obvious attraction she feels towards co-owner Duke. Unfortunately that's easier said then done; soon Duke is convincing Carmella to give him a chance and she's falling even harder for him, even though she swears to never to open her heart again.

I was so excited to read this book after finishing Opening Up. I was completely in love with the 1st book and couldn't wait to continue on. Unfortunately, this book wasn't everything I was hoping for. I did enjoy the story and still loved the characters new and old, but after the last book, this one just seemed to fall slightly flat in comparison.

I actually had trouble trying to come up with my rating for this book. I was ready to give it a 3 star rating for most of the book but then there were a few moments that made me smile and laugh out loud so I decided to up my rating to 4 stars instead.

Even now, I'm still excited to check out Coming Back but I'm hoping that it gives me more of the feels that the 1st book did.

I’m a Lauren Dane fan. I think I’ve said that before, but I thought I should repeat it. I love her paranormal series, but she sold me on her relationship driven book Opening Up, the first book in the Ink and Chrome Series. Even though I’m a dirty girl who needs action, she made this genre work for me too. This means I was prepared and in the right mind set when I started Falling Under, the second book in that same series and I was not disappointed. Falling Under is definitely a relationship driven book but it is also about letting go of guilt and responsibility for others who don’t want your help, no matter how much they need it. It also was about being able to trust someone enough to grab hold and fall in love. All good stuff.

Duke was a great H. He reminded me of my Golden Retriever, Patton. My Patton is gorgeous, easy going, sweet, goofy as as hell, loved by everyone near and far (I’m not kidding about this, I went to dinner one night and a neighbor had done a portrait of Patton and it was hanging in a restaurant – it was kind of bizarre and sweet). I was convinced I had a lovable but kind of a wussy dog. Boy was I wrong. If he feels one of his loved ones is threatened, he will and has kicked some ass. All these things describe Duke to a T. Obviously I am a huge Duke fan. He had some family issues etc., but nothing that couldn’t be worked out by the right woman.

I really liked Carmella too. She had a screwed up family life and took on way too much responsibility for people she ought not have and who definitely didn’t deserve her TLC. She was also not stupid, and that is my favorite kind of h. My only teeny tiny complaint is she was a bit too skittish when it came to relationships and that got a tad bit old but Duke’s easy going attitude about it made it work.

Falling Under was long, slow, and beautiful in parts. It was maybe a bit too slow in places, but well worth the read. I do have to say, I did not like the ending at all. It literally just stopped. Duke and Carmella had just got to the place we needed them to be in the relationship and then nothing. I was all like “Wait! What!?!? WTF!?”. I needed more. I needed them to be more comfortable with each other and happy no matter what crap their families pulled. I needed more info on the outcome of what happened with Duke’s brother. I NEEDED MORE!!

It wasn’t a cliffhanger but still I felt like I was shorted a proper ending. Although still a diehard Lauren Dane fan, I am now an unhappy and needy Lauren Dane fan who is waiting extremely impatiently for the next book. Extremely Impatiently.

If you've read my review for Opening Up, the first book in Lauren Dane's Ink & Chrome series, then you know how much I loved Duke and couldn't wait for his book. Well, I finally had the chance to read Falling Under and, unfortunately, my love for Duke wasn't nearly as palpable, which left me a little disappointed if I'm being totally honest.

Duke and Carmella have been neighbors for a couple years and have always had the hots for each other but never did anything about it. However, Duke's office manager is leaving and he needs to hire Carmella to work in his shop, which means that they'll be spending a lot more time together and once they do there's no denying the attraction they have for each other. Of course, they both know that him being her boss could get a little complicated but we all know that chemistry that combustible is bound to explode, am I right?!

I wish I could say that watching these two give in to their desire's was the highlight of this book for me but, unfortunately, that just wasn't the case. Sure, they both knew what they wanted and had no problem taking it, but honestly the sexy times fell a little flat for me. I guess I just had a hard time feeling the connection between the two when they finally got down to it.

Now, the banter between Duke and Carmella, on the other hand, was everything I was hoping it would be. Duke's this real laid back, chill kinda guy, and I loved watching his interactions with Carmella. They almost played out like a movie in my head and I found myself smiling right along with them.

There wasn't a lot of drama and angst in this one, which was nice, but that's also where my issues with Duke came in. As I said, he's a real laid back guy whose friendly to everyone, has tons of friends, and is a total flirt when it comes to women. Now, I expected a little other women drama because of the type of guy that Duke is, and even though it was glossed over rather easily, I felt like Duke was totally disrespectful to Carmella in that regard and it made it hard for me to love him as much as I did in the first book. If he would have realized his actions were hurting her sooner, I could have overlooked it, but even towards the end, I felt like he didn't quite own up to it, and I just couldn't enjoy the book as much as I had hoped because of it.

That being said, this was an easy read and even though I didn't love it as much as I thought I would, it was still enjoyable for the most part. I'm not going to read the next book in the series because after reading the blurb I know it's not my cuppa but I hope to be able to see more of these two in the future.

Thanks Goodreads for eating my review - again!

Long story short: This is a great addition to the series. Once again Lauren Dane gives us a delicious and sexy hero and a sassy and independent heroine in Carmella. Together these two made for some off the charts chemistry and definitely steamed up my kindle more than once. I enjoyed the way they handled their relationship as adults. Duke's patience while Carmella worked through her issues regarding relationships was swoonworthy. Low angst and very little drama made for an easy read.

The only issue I had was the ending. What happened? The story just ended?

I loved all of the little hints regarding Mick. Sounds like there is quite a bit of drama and I can't wait to dive in.

Carmella Rossi doesn't trust many people, her life has not been an easy road and she keeps that side of herself sheltered. When her hot tattooed neighbor offers her a job at Twisted Steel, she takes it. It's okay to look but not touch right?

Duke Bradshaw has been holding back on his desire for Carmella, but the more he gets to know her the more he realizes he has to have her. Once he makes his move though he is stunned to find out she is quite the minx and he wants to get to know more about her. Breaking down those walls though is going to be tough, will Duke be willing find out if what he feels she can trust him implicitly?

Great story, loved Duke. Duke oozes pure male magnetism. Carmella perfectly compliments him, she is a fascinating character. Great beginning and the book only heats up as it keeps going.

I just love these good bad boys! This series is full of tattooed bad boys and they are all sweet, sexy and protective! Duke is her neighbor who she loves to watch, Camilla is the girl next door with baggage and stress that she hides well. When these two come together it's perfect! I loved that this couple has real life arguments like overreacting about things and a little jealousy but they know how to work through them with big huge drama fights. Lauren Dane is on my MUST BUY EVERYTHING list because I love her stories and all of her characters feel like they could be my friends, they are so real and that makes me come back for more!

The narration was excellent for this book. She does a great male voice without sounding like a girl trying to sound like a guy. She really does hit the alpha male perfectly for me!

Good read again. I would give 5, but it dragged again in spots like the first. I just wanted to get to the point.

I have to say the characters have terrible parents! Each one has parents that didn't understand them. So they were both closed off and didn't communicate well at times. Everyone has daddy or mommy issues.

Duke and Carm had great chemistry and the sex was hot. It is nice to read a story about adults and not young adults in their twenties that don't have a clue about life. The characters have lived and have lots of experiences to draw upon and aren't wild, crazy or stupid.

A good read, but a tad expensive.

This was an okay adult contemporary romance, with some fairly steamy sex scenes.
Carmella seemed pretty self-sufficient in this story, whilst Duke whilst Drake seemed to jump to conclusions and mess things up!
The storyline was mostly about the sex, but we did get another storyline featuring Carmella’s mother and her abusive husband.
The sex scenes in this were pretty steamy, but did get a bit repetitive.

Carmella Rossi and Duke Bradshaw are a typical couple in the world of Lauren Danes characters.

They both have troubled perspectives on life due to a somewhat lacking childhood experience with their respective families and both keep other people at arms length to a certain extent because of adult experiences that have turned out badly.

Carmella turns out to be the one who Duke did not know he was needing in his life and Duke turned out to be the one she could finally totally trust and count on as an equal partner.

Win Win for them both and the reader also.

Mick is up next and his should be the crown jewel story in the trilogy, I think.
